THIS WAS SSERIOUSLY ONE OF MY FAVORITE VIDEOS TO MAKE. Awwww mom time is always a good time ❤❤❤ ps. sorry for slight noise crackling, my mom's necklace was hitting the mic 🥲❤ ~ AND our annual holiday event is live!!! Grab a free exclusive print + free mystery merch in every order! ✨🎁 rossdraws.com
this is actually kinda of a cool anime concept, a story about a mother whos also a hero but has to take care of their child while trying to take down the demon king or something
I honestly think this could totally be made into a comic or something, like even the fact that it's simply called "Mom" it could be based on the kid's perspective. Love the contrast of sunshine-cute-family vibes with giant-demon-third-eye sword, it's unexpected and that makes it so interesting!
there's actually a webtoon which casts the mom as the main protagonist of the story called 'The Fabled Warrior', you can check it out if you're interested
I say it should be the trope of a Fairytale world getting a traveler from our world but its years after going home but now has to return long after she became another Tale to steer the Childs story from shadow
Your Mum was so sweet and she was so excited she did the grass, absolutely so lovely! Honestly, this year I learnt the value of encouraging & commenting to my fellow artists, commenting on their artworks about the parts I adore, the little things that they thought no one would notice and yet there I am gushing about how much I love that little detail. I learnt that a comment even from a fellow artist can go a long way in uplifting them and bringing a smile to their face, paying kindness forward to other artists was my lesson this year, even if it was a rough year for me, I know that I made some artist's smile reading me gush about their art ❤
Sweet momma ^-^ It's clear she's usually not all that involved with anime at all but for her baby she'll try everything. So cute how she still sees you as her little one even though you're already standing on your own feet. Momma is always gonna be momma after all
Your mom is the cutest!!!! I have learned a lot through the digital art bootcamp I’ve been trying to really make art pieces again so studying up through the bootcamp has been an amazing time
Other than learning that you and your mom are the best art duo, I’ve learnt to respect boundaries and escape from the negative situations that consume me, it was a very important lesson. 💕
I learned how to make my characters look more like their in their environments! (like keeping them shadowed but using a base color and erasing them!) Thanks Scomicmaker!
But seriously, a series about a mother fighting demons to protect her happy family could be great. Somewhat reminds me of the "Peerless Dad" manhwa (except it's a father and fights humans there).
This year I've focused a lot on improving my art skills, and I've learned to just have fun with it! You don't need to do art for others, do it for yourself
This year, as being a new graduate, that adulthood can be very lonely when you’re considered independent. I learn that I can advocate for help and support which their are resources out there to do so. Also, never forget that you always can have support people like my own parents. I’m still learning what I can advocate as time goes by. I love the relationship you and your mom has which is something I also can relate to as well. 💜✨
I learned that although we as artists are always striving to improve our abilities, the journey is meaningless if we forget to enjoy the process along the way. Thanks for always inspiring and teaching us, Ross! To another amazing art-filled year in 2023!
i love vids with your mom i thrive seeing you guys interact, its healing ! this year i learnt to put myself first and care about my needs the hard way, but im making great progress and even though its a lifetime process, i know its worth the hardship. Thank you for the chance !
Always nice to see you and your mom bond in your art videos! This year I've learnt not to downplay my achievements, because even though they may seem insignificant to me, I've been too brainwashed by hustle culture that every small step of progress didn't look like much to me. It was until I looked back at some of my past works from early this year that I realised how every small step does count in the end.
Your mother is such a good character/story writer. She comes up with such creative things so quickly! Also, this is my first time watching your channel
I love it! Thank you Ross for always bringing some positive vibes! I have two kids and this drawing insoires me to draw a cute illustration with them as well!
This year, I learned the importance of stepping into one's own life. You can't stay cooped up in your comfortable little home forever, which is why I say that art university is one of the best things that's happened to me.
Always fun seeing your mom in the videos!! One thing I've learned this year... I need to actively put myself out there and make friends! It's terrifying, but it pays off 😁
I have learned that there is always room for self improvement; to see things less in black and white, more in shades of gray; and to not set off problems until it's too late. This year was one of pain and loss so that the next year can be about rebuilding to be an overall better human than before for myself and the ones around me. It only takes a few bones to break before one gets stronger..
This year it became clear to me that it takes time to improve things, that we should not rush things, that it will all come to you with great timing, and that it will come to you if you are consistent enough to improve. 🤞
This year I learned that obtaining knowledge from life's interactions is how you grow more. Being curious and being able to obtain skilled individuals' life learned abilities is what is most important. Never taking for granted the wisdom that many people have is what I learned to be key in life.
I learned a lot this year, in my art journey and life in general. The most important lesson this year would be to let go of expectations and I think it applies to both.
Hi Ross! I love watching your videos! I am actually very excited because I just bought your Nima book and a print of the little mermaid from you! I love watching you grow as an artist and hope to see more videos in the future. Sending lots of love!
This year I have learned to take care of myself better, that includes making time for my art because I enjoy it very much even if the end result doesn't come out as I want it to.
Man I love your art and the way you do things , you have been my inspiration to start my journey as an artist again, right of now I only have my phone , to work on but I will post my work thx bro
I love how wholesome this video is! Love how you have your mom involved in your videos! What I learned this is 3d modeling and clay sculpting. I didn't think I would have another hobby other that drawing. It's been so much fun!
Great video w/ your mom! This year I've learned how to further step outside my comfort zone & experience new things that have made me grow more as a person.
I've learned quite a lot throughout this year, especially during summer holiday where I actually went through a 2d animation tryout for my curriculum. I was happy to meet other blooming artists my age looking to upgrade their skillsets and I happened to learn a few things my self, particularly in story telling. I found it extremely entertaining to create scenarios that didn't make a lot of sense and yet still presented a fun story despite having so much plot twists. (sorry I am aware of how long this comment is...) I also recently got into painting mystical animals on CSP so I guess that's pretty cool...
I think this may be my favorite of all your paintings! I love cute baby Milo, the little spirit cat on his head, the heroic mom with her third eye sword - I wish there was a corresponding Ghibli movie! ❤
I love seeing videos like this. Also I learned how to live a much more balanced life whether it being school to recreational hobbies everything is good in moderation.
Your mom is so sweet man. Please do more of these videos. The quick grass tutorial was nice. Do you have any landscape tutorials? I'm interested in painting Ghibli styled landscapes. Well done Ross' mom. :)
It's always so great to watch your mum have fun with you! hahahaha This year I've learned to enjoy painting just for the sake of doing it, which is something that I've always struggled with :) that makes me happy
Hey ross! I was wondering if you could a tutorial on how to draw different types of water. Like clear lakes, murky swamps, to glasses of water from our sink. It's really difficult to draw water but it's even more difficult to find a tutorial that shows all types of water so I and many others would appreciate a tutorial!! - love a big fan
This video was fun, always fun watching you and your mom draw 🎉 Anyways to answer the question I learned how to render skin, hair, and cloths better on my characters this year and it makes drawing way more fun when drawing my original characters or art pieces for friends and family :))
I don’t usually comment, but I feel I should put my two cents in... After losing my mother almost two years ago, due to COVID related issues. I’ve learned to not take anything for granted because you never know how long you have with the ones you love. Now I was very fortunate to have an inseparable relationship with her and I know she is looking down on me and smiling.
i would watch this. literaly. this is so nice! maybe the title should me mom or mother? i like the consept of the mother being the hero! it really shows the sacrifice of a mother to take care of her child. mother being the protector and the child being the village or city the hero always protects. maybe the dog some sort of assistant? the dog taking care of the child while mother taking on some villan or something! anyways! continue it! very good! and happy holidays!!
Wait. That would kinda be a bomb anime. A Mother and her son trying to survive in a world they once knew to be gone. The mother gains some superpower abilities and she uses that to protect her son (& Dog). Monsters 5 times her size attack her son (Because the monsters like the taste of small kids, Idk) They make their way to a supposed safe spot created by the government. Idk Im just trying to come up with a story with what she said.

Your mum could destroy the mic and the camera and we would still be okay with it. She's so lovely. Definitely stole the show
didnt notice the crackling. seemed fine to me.
Your mom is adorable😊

That’s just god of war ragnarok but reversed
and the dog, don’t forget
For Mumma Tran who painted grass, applause!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏
RIGHT?? LETS GO DIGITAL PAINTER 🌿🌿🌿
I would absolutely watch an anime about an exorcist/demon slayer mom just trying to allow her family to live a happy life.
I say it should be the trope of a Fairytale world getting a traveler from our world but its years after going home but now has to return long after she became another Tale to steer the Childs story from shadow
I wish my mum was as involved in my life as your mum is in yours! Such a lovely dynamic the two of you.
Yess love seeing your mom again! She’s just a ray of sunshine ❤
I love her sm!!! thank you!!!!!
Your Mum was so sweet and she was so excited she did the grass, absolutely so lovely!

This genuinely should be an anime, I feel like it’d be really wholesome in a fantasy-like world.
Other than learning that you and your mom are the best art duo, I’ve learnt to respect boundaries and escape from the negative situations that consume me, it was a very important lesson. 💕
This seems like a great series in all honesty. It’s very wholesome and made from love.
I learned how to make my characters look more like their in their environments! (like keeping them shadowed but using a base color and erasing them!) Thanks Scomicmaker!

This was so wholesome and what a lovely mother you have Ross! Stunning results as always 😁
I like the idea that her name is just mom. It could be like her name is almost revealed and get interrupted or covered up😂
Wow. Momma Ross killed it👏
Also, it’s so sweet how much she cares about her family. Mothers are the best
I learned what my passions are and how to pursue my dreams. This mom draws ep was amazing your mom is so sweet and cool!!
Honestly, her art is on par, if not better than a professional’s, absolutely fabulous 👍
I love your videos so much, they're so positive! they make me excited to draw.
it's always great seeing your mom too, she's so kind and warm! ❤
That is really awesome to see you paint with your mom! I wish that my mom was evolved and supportive as well. :)

She is brilliant! I love your interaction...
This year it became clear to me that it takes time to improve things, that we should not rush things, that it will all come to you with great timing, and that it will come to you if you are consistent enough to improve. 🤞
I have learned to make effective shading and details when characters are in perspective
I love how your mum is growing more confident on camera, it's adorable! Get her on morrrrre!
This year I learned that obtaining knowledge from life's interactions is how you grow more. Being curious and being able to obtain skilled individuals' life learned abilities is what is most important. Never taking for granted the wisdom that many people have is what I learned to be key in life.
