They actually got this right in the end. Enabling the subscription to be turned on and off each month is essential. This enables me to test a handful of plugins prior to purchase. Like Blockbuster for videogames back in the day.
I agree but I'll never know why they didn't just offer both options in the first place. Would have saved themselves a lot of grief. And you make a good point. I have a few subscriptions that I activate and cancel all the time. I just start them up when I need them and then cancel once I'm done until I need it again. I do this with Reason Studios and even Epidemic Sound for background music on this channel. No point paying for it every month if I am going months without using it. EDIT - Oh and I got the UA subscription for the next 3 months for a buck. That will be the same thing. Or if there is only a plugin or two I find I really use then I'll just buy them when they go on sale and be done with it lol
I am learning audio engineering in a college and believe me at the end of the day you have to watch videos on youtube for a better understanding. Your videos are helping a lot sir...pls make more videos ❤
1000% agree with you. I started getting into this in the mid 90's and I wish RUclips was around back then. And more videos are coming eventually. I'm just not sure what to do with the channel going forward. I'm not quitting or anything like that, I just want to make much better videos and I'm not sure what that looks like yet.
Thanks Jake. I wasn’t gonna do a video about this at all but I think it had to be done. I get people being angry about it, but it’s just gotten a little over the top. Far worse things in the world then Waves making a bad call on how to sell plugins lol
That I have no answer for. I mean subscriptions are great for some. But I think us having the choice to buy or have a subscription should have been what they did. Hell of a mess though. I’d have to assume they would have predicted some type of backlash, just not as much or as extreme.
@@EverythingMusicRecording they’re great to test out which software you would want to buy. I had the Roland cloud subscription - worst thing ever. Internet always has to be on for it to validate.. after uninstalling I still get prompts and pop ups and can’t figure out how to make it disappear. Lesson learned I guess. Waves was about to become the leader of this corporate non-sense. I guess they learned a lesson too.
Lol I can’t argue that. Lots of people make the update plan sound far worse then it actually is, but I can’t say I’m a fan of paying for it either. I wouldn’t complain if I didn’t have to pay for it again though 🙂

Great analysis! 👍🏻

How did they not see that coming

Maybe we can get some outrage over the waves update plan. Maybe they’ll reverse that too, and just give updates like every other company does. Lol
