As someone who has done this before and has worked with bleaching. One tip I am going to tell you is that when you use the water and peroxide bath....use DISTILLED water! reason being is that city water is treated with chlorine gas and that chlorine is present in city water...The city water can interact with the bleaching and continue the bleaching. Also, another tip is to use white vinyl as your stencil.....some vinyls have a residual dye from the manufacturing process and that dye can leech out from the bleaching. Another tip is to LIGHTLY warm the vinyl up with a heat gun before pressing it onto the screen frame....the heat will warm up the adhesive and give the vinyl a better bond to the screen....that bleach gel can seep under the edges of the stencil if its not tightly sealed and you will end up with bleed outs. AFTER you do the peroxide and water bath.....re-bath it with straight distilled water. Doing the second bath will get rid of any remaining bleach gel. After the second bath.....wash in cold water /cold rinse with no detergent or fab softener and you will have a full bleach free garment.
Oh damn... Why do I happen to have everything needed? Down to the screen I got in a five below craft kit? I'm about to be hooked! Thanks for this video! And the great tips from the comments below are truly helpful too.
I'm hooked!! Going to get the screen printing frame now!!! Oh, and the toilet cleaner. How amazing this could be to make old school designs... But easier!!
Amazing video, You can also do the same on metal but instead of bleach. You can use a mixture of hydrogen peroxide, regular white vinegar, and 1/2 table spoon of salt and it will leave a nice rust effect on the metal.
I am glad I watched your video again I made a shirt with the ink and I put my painters tape on inside now I know to put it on the outside ... thank you
Many years ago I had a little Screen Printing Shop out of my garage doing all the local touristy stuff here in Northern Nevada I stink that was so cool what you just did
What an awesome idea!!! Totally cute design too!!! I love this and I already have that bleach in my bathroom. 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you for all the amazing ideas and tutorials!! 👍🏼💯💙🖤👍🏼💯💙🖤👍🏼💯💙🖤
This isn't propper screen printing trust me I used to print for a small company doing t shirts aprons t towels and various other cloths by the meter and also worked at another company printing road cones and signs
Hi Michael thank you for this tutorial I want to try this now. You're awesome I joined your yearly membership recently but I haven't been on it so would you let me know how I get into the site so I use it thank you for your time Gayle
You definitely want to cover your mat with something because over time that bleach is going to literally eat it up. By the way... We've been doing this for about 10 years 😉😅. Does anyone have an old YuDo? I kept mine JUST So I would continue to have an easy to use screen printing frame. I don't think you can even get the inks anymore but I spent a lot of money on that stuff back in the day and couldn't see just tossing it. I think I've got six screens and those things aren't cheap 🤨. I've been using it with my Cricut/Silhouette to screen print for years now.
Mixing bleach and peroxide is a bad idea. You should rinse the shirt before using the peroxide. The toilet bowl cleaner is going to shorten the life of the screen.
Hey y'all! I'm going LIVE after this premiere on my Mr. Crafty Pants channel! Hope to see ya there! 😃 ruclips.net/video/reP0gSKiFpU/видео.html

Would using 100% cotton with bleach create holes? Possibly use 65% polyester be better? Love this concept though. Thanks for the tips.
@@mommamea43 100% Cotton might create holes, 65% Polyester would be better.
WOW! thank you so much for the input! Such great tips! ✌️

Something new for me to try! I love a new use for my tb cleaner too!!
I use old HTV backing for things like this. Not as tacky, and works on delicate things like screen or poster board
You just blew my mind. I’m ordering that board.
