Thank you so much for this! I'm so glad you mentioned the five and below tumblers because that's what I literally plan to use in making some gifts for my bridesmaids!
Have either of you tried using an etching cream with color? Like alcohol ink to stain the the etched part with color. I've never tried but do you think it would work? I know you all are up for trying new things.
@m2c1designs59 I went to your youtube to view how you do your process, but it seems the videos are hidden. I'm trying to get the best method for this process. And also wanting to know if you know if the process will work on a "go bottle" or "built" brands of tumblers? Wanting to make these for family for Christmas. Thanks for any advice you can offer.
Wow, I just love it. The Tumbler came out terrific. I can’t wait to try this. Thank you again. Plus I love your energy. I’m telling you if anybody was feeling down in the dumps all they have to do is watch one of your videos and you definitely would turn anybody’s frown upside down to a huge smile you have a great heart thank you again for what you do and sharing all your terrific talent with everyone.
My son in law and I did this and they turned out SO good! We did find that the tumblers we used from Michaels took closer to an hour for the citristrip to work. We had such fun doing this. I love the turner idea for a full wrap.
After you have etched the tumbler, do you recommend putting some kind of clear coating/sealant over it to keep the rest of the paint from peeling around the design?
Can’t wait to try this. It came out perfect. Have you made a video using the silver sublimation tumblers? And can you do something like this one using the Joy?
just found your channel yesterday. I make epoxy tumblers. I use citristrip to take off the powder coatings and also to take off the factory coating off the tumblers to prep them for priming/glittering or whatever I'm going to do. So my question is, the stainless steel is now bare without it's factory coating so will it be prone to rust over time?
That's my question also because the paint stripper is essentially removing the painted coating from the tumbler. I wonder what happens to the edges over time without some type of sealant.
My friend sent me your link today. She did some tumblers before but knows I like crafting.Your tumblers turned out amazing! I may try sometime...Then I got caught up watching your you tube videos.lol.A lot of fun ideas for me for sure.
Michael, I liked this tutorial a lot. Thank you again for your patience and great skills. I always learn something new from you. By the way you look good with or without the hat. Till next time. Stay crafty.😉💜
A dear friend brought me some citri strip while visiting us in Toronto. I am not sure if the stuff we get here would work the same. I am using the Arctic brand tumbler which apparently keeps things hotter longer than a yeti and is cheaper. Going to do my first one today,
I just tried this and I'm absolutely in love with this technique. I used the tumbler you linked and it only took about 10 minutes to complete. I can't wait to get more tumblers to do more :)
Yaaaaaaas just tried this with a simple modern tumbler and obsessed with the results. Thanks so much for sharing. my new favorite way to personalize tumblers now.
Doing this on a simple modern tumbler is genius! Do you have any tips for letting the citrus strip sit for those tumblers? I would love to do the same!
A dear friend brought me some citri strip while visiting us in Toronto since it isn't sold here and I have no idea if the stuff sold here would work due to being a different formulation. About to try out the citri strip on my project today. I am using the arctic brand tumbler sold on Amazon. it is cheaper than a yeti and keeps things hotter longer. Wish me luck.
Hi Michael, I just finished watching your video "NEW" best way to etch tumblers from Cricut. What is the name of the Tumbler Spinner that you use? I don't need all the fluff just what you were using as I can only imagine how much it makes crafting simpler. Thank you so much for your help.
Did it on a tumbler for kids-ombre blue and pink from Wal-Mart. They were just over $6 each. So they were inexpensive enough to give a try. The only thing different that I did was to wrap in foil after applying the paint stripper. I also used my heat gun for a short few minutes. It really sped up the process. They turned out great!
Hi. I'm curious. So what did the foil help with? Was it on a spinner or did you just let it sit somewhere? And how long did you use the heat for? Thanks.
Hi Michael! I'm new to your channel, just joined ystrdy. I do not own a cricut yet, but in my research came across your channel and have watched a few of your videos. Love your energy!! I will definitely continue watching and hopefully soon will be getting my first cricut. Thank you for making it so easy for a pre-beginner
Hi Cathy, I'm new to Michael's channel too and think hes an absolute legend. P.s. Thanks Michael for your vids, just love them. All the way from Australia :)
This would be perfect for the kids water bottles! I don’t have to worry about them picking at the vinyl. Do you know if the aerosol can of this would work?
Watched replay, tried this one worked one did not. I didn't know that it would not work on all stainless steel tumblers. Now I know to do a test spot. Again thank you for your help.
We don't get Citristrip in South Africa unfortunately. I can't find a gel paint stripper but I have a regular paint stripper. Going to try that. Hard to find an inexpensive powder coated bottle to try it out on though. You guys really do have so many cool crafting supplies at your disposal.
I've done a couple of these now and after my tests I just leave the Citrus Strip for a couple of hours. I just set it and come back when I get a chance later. It hasn't failed yet.
That does seem to work pretty well for most of the tumblers I tried, but I did run into one issue with that when I was doing some tests. One of the tumblers where I left it on for hours had the citristrip eat under the vinyl and ruin the design. When I tried it again on the same type of tumbler I left it on for about 15 minutes and it was perfect. Just something to keep in mind. 😊
Michael or Mr. Crafty Pants, I have recently watched a video on Etching that you provided to us on RUclips using the Ferric Chloride. Which one would you say was the easiest and/or cheaper way to go...in your opinion?
I am interested in doing this but don't have anything. Which circut cut should I get, what is that tumbler spinner thing and what vinly would you say to get. starting from Zero Not too expensive though ty
It really depends on what you're wanting to do, but something like the explore air 2 or explore 3 is a good machine to start off with. The joy is fun, but its pretty limited on what all you can do with it. www.amazon.com/stores/Cricut/page/C64D4D9F-7B75-4CD1-8C01-033D1CD0AEC7?&linkCode=ll2&tag=mrcraftypants-20&linkId=cdbe02b03ec39b2a413884b53819d246&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl (affiliate link)
You can find the cup turner here: www.143vinyl.com/cup-turners/?partner=339438 and for vinyl I'd recommend the StarCraft HD permanent vinyl. www.143vinyl.com/starcraft-hd-permanent-adhesive-vinyl/?partner=339438 I hope that helps, and also feel free to use my discount affiliate code "crafty" to save some extra $$ on your purchases at 143vinyl. 🤩

Agreed a thousand times
I love it!!! I’m so proud. It turned out beautiful. Thank you so much for mentioning me. 🥰
Of course!! Thank YOU for the inspiration!! It’s absolutely genius! 😍👏🙌
Have either of you tried using an etching cream with color? Like alcohol ink to stain the the etched part with color. I've never tried but do you think it would work? I know you all are up for trying new things.
@@sassyme6208 No. Im going to test to be sure but I don’t think it will hold the color. Stay tuned.

Kimberly thank you so much for sharing that with me! Y'all always bring a smile to my face so it's nice to hear I can do the same for others too!
So much energy
What am I going to say? I love it! Your tumbler came out beautiful!
Thank you, friend! ❤️
My son in law and I did this and they turned out SO good! We did find that the tumblers we used from Michaels took closer to an hour for the citristrip to work. We had such fun doing this. I love the turner idea for a full wrap.
I have finally grabbed some stripper today and doing small tests on 2 different bottles tonight! Wish me luck!!
After you have etched the tumbler, do you recommend putting some kind of clear coating/sealant over it to keep the rest of the paint from peeling around the design?
I love your tutorials. I want to try everything you do.
Tumbler came out great! Well done, Michael.
This works on yeti mugs. Easy and looks great!
Can’t wait to try this. It came out perfect. Have you made a video using the silver sublimation tumblers? And can you do something like this one using the Joy?
I am getting ready to do a tumbler with the same process. I have to check your tutorial first.

Looks like fun. Going to try it
Hope you enjoy it! 🤩
Going to have my mother in law come over and try that and Etching
Does this need to be sealed with epoxy or is it good as is?
NICE Job!! I like that StarCraft Cup Turner!!
I tried it and it worked great. Thanks for the tips!
Very Beautiful and well done. Thanks for sharing.
Nice process. But would the coating eventually peel? How would it be sealed for protection?
That's my question also because the paint stripper is essentially removing the painted coating from the tumbler. I wonder what happens to the edges over time without some type of sealant.
I might just try it. Thank you for sharing
My friend sent me your link today. She did some tumblers before but knows I like crafting.Your tumblers turned out amazing! I may try sometime...Then I got caught up watching your you tube videos.lol.A lot of fun ideas for me for sure.

If you don’t mind me asking about the tumblers you used, I’d like to make a few for my daughter and grandson, thanks
Wow crazy. Crazy good!!!
Badass video bro. I ordered a Cricut Maker 3 today. I'm hype to learn how to create these projects from you.
Yaaaaaaas just tried this with a simple modern tumbler and obsessed with the results. Thanks so much for sharing.
my new favorite way to personalize tumblers now.

That’s really nice! I’m anxious about to try it.
Loved this. The application with using the cup turner. Game changing. Just need to get some tumblers.
Thank you thank you! My first one came out 95% perfect!

whoa. That's incredible. I might have to try this.
Wanna learn more... also what other tumblers can u used besides stainless coded?
Is it recommended to put anything on the exposed metal to protect it from rusting?
You have the coolest stuff! I love love that spinner!
Gonna try it
Yay!! Hope you have fun!

Off to the hardware store in the morning. Hopefully I can buy this in Australia
Is this project dishwasher safe or do you need to seal it to prevent chipping and pealing
On my way now to go buy what I need to make this!! And my niece is Alyssa!!
This would be perfect for the kids water bottles! I don’t have to worry about them picking at the vinyl. Do you know if the aerosol can of this would work?
I did this a few days ago, it really worked great! I wished my lines were a bit sharper but it still looks great.
It looks Amazing! ❤ I’m going to attempt this!
So, can't wait to do this.....🥰🥰

This was super cool
I'll be trying this very soon.
Can you share which tumblers did not work? Did yeti work?
Watched replay, tried this one worked one did not. I didn't know that it would not work on all stainless steel tumblers. Now I know to do a test spot. Again thank you for your help.

Beautiful! Didn't know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. Thanks for sharing
Great job! 👍
That turned out amazing! Makes we want to give it a try!

You guys really do have so many cool crafting supplies at your disposal.
My only concern would be if the design would chip because of the coating of the cup being compromised. Do you think this would be an issue?
I Loveit! I would try this, that my grand daughter's name, Gotta try it!
Where did you get the tumbler rotating machine?
Adding it to my list...😁
You’ll love it! 😃
nice! thank you Michael for another excellent video! like the sketchy font!
Does this technique work on Yeti tumblers?
I’m pretty new to the circuit, what brand of permanent vinyl would you purchase
Does it work on yeti brand cups?
I just saw this done on another channel! Can’t wait to try this technique.
I've done a couple of these now and after my tests I just leave the Citrus Strip for a couple of hours. I just set it and come back when I get a chance later. It hasn't failed yet.

Yes will have too try it
Loved this video and I would absolutely try this!!!!
Can’t wait to try this but I thought if you used permanent vinyl on anything it would never come off. Interesting, must try this! Thank you, MCP!!!!
I definitely will try this! ☺️
