Thanks for the great video! I didn’t feel like I HAD TO PURCHASE special brands and high priced subscriptions. You went slow enough for me to understand and feel confident in trying to make something. Thanks again!
THANK YOU! First time mom here- finally had the courage to open my Cricut 1.5 years after it was gifted to me. Deciding what to make then learning how to do it with each project. Your channel has been very helpful and made using the machine less intimidating!
Ok, I bought the maker 3 when it first came out and I did a sample cut a yr ago and nothing since ( the joy too, already had a scan n cut sit on the shelf gather dust for yrs 😂). I've watch alot of vids but haven't applied anything. It's not rocket science, it's just that work has kept me too busy. Now I no longer work and have the time! I've watched so many instructors until I've gotten 'analysis paralysis.' HOWEVER....I REALLY like your approach and I can follow you without getting bored aft 10 min!!! (not knock all the others bec many of the others are really good too). I'm EXCITED to fin start using my machine! thx u
Thank you for this Michael! I'm early in the video. I'm no longer a "newbie" but I'm always interested in learning the craft and you're one of my favorite tutors. I have to say, I probably tell newbies every day "jump into the shallow end of the pool and learn the craft, then you can move to the deep end - I don't advise you jumping into the deep end and getting totally frustrated". Most people seem to appreciate that advice. Feel free to use the phrase if you'd like.
Wow I've been using my vinyl mat wrong. Silly me. Me rushing to test the cricut joy xtra out I wasn't paying attention to the mats I was supposed to b using. Thank u for bringing that to my attention. Will definitely use the Green Mat for vinyl cutting.
Thank you for taking the time to post this video AND for the links!! it was very helpful to a newbie. I appreciate the advice for where to purchase vinyl materials for less. I hate wasting product as I learn. Keep crafty!!
Awesome video, thank you! I’m looking forward to more beginner videos from you, most of the folks who do this talk way too fast and I can’t keep up with them (or their mouse) but you take your time and describe everything perfectly so a beginner can follow along. Thank you, I’m very grateful to have found you and look forward to learning more from you ❤️
Michael - I'm not sure you realize how great an instructor and communicator you are! I'm an old guy with undergraduate and graduate degrees in education, so I can appreciate the teaching/learning process. You nailed it. I learned so much from you in this beginner video and heard some super-valuable, relevant tips. Well done. Keep up the great work. Thank you so much! 😀I'm off the Cricut Workspace to start creating!
Thank you. This is one of the best tutorials I have watched, and I've watched A LOT! No time-wasting with unnecessary chit-chat, really quick and punchy, which is great cos I can just pause and catch up if necessary, and you covered lots.
I am so thankful I came across one of your videos a few days ago. After two months of trial and error (mostly error) with my new Cricut, I felt overwhelmed and defeated. Now, I am a Mr. Crafty Pants fan for life!
LOVED THIS! I’m one of the ones who has my Cricut just sitting there collecting dust but you’ve got me so excited to start it up tomorrow for the first time. We need a second part to learn more ✨
Thank you Michael! The way you explain things is straight forward, clear and to the point. Even if I’m not a beginner at this point, I can still watch your videos and learn something new and not be annoyed from your explanation on stuff I already know because it is so quick. You were meant to teach and I mean that in the nicest way. Some people are frustrating to watch and you are not that 😝
Thank you for easing my anxiety and making this tutorial UNDERSTANDABLE!! I watched every second!! With other videos I watched on RUclips, I still had anxiety and confusion by the end. You just got a new subscriber🥰
Absolutely loved this video. It is exactly what I needed to give me that kick in the A## to get me motivated. I have had my machine 2 years and only now do I feel ready. I am BUZZING. Thank you so much XX
Was on the fence about getting a Cricut, other videos had me thinking this is to be complicated. After watching one video of yours about not using Cricut before watching this, I am all in. So easy to follow you and your video. Can't wait to make the jump.
Thank you so much for your time putting this video together. You are the first person that I could actually follow to where I feel I can use my Cricut.
Im so glad i found you! I didn't know anything about cricut before i started watching you. I'm grateful you're still making this content. Don't stop! ❤
Hello from Victoria BC Canada. Loved this tutorial. I've had my cricut maker for a couple years and just used for the first time this past Christmas. I appreciate your honesty about the best products. To me the most intimidating part of crafting with a cutting machine is cricut design space. So glad to get some instruction and tips on that. Thank you❤
I truly enjoy watching you! You explain everything so so well!!! You are a true inspiration, but mostly I love how authentic you are!, I love how simple you make things and love how you edit your videos! You do an amazing job! Thank you !
That Access membership has been awesome for me. It's not expensive, and i have a photo editor app that allows me to make stickers and save them as PNG files (and it has a better background removal function than the Cricut app does). I can make ANYTHING with these two apps combined. Not just that, but Access membership gives me INCREDIBLE exclusive discounts on all kinds of Cricut products. I love it. I'm sure it's not for everyone, but it's definitely for me! Thank you for another great video! It's awesome to check out beginner tutorials because with such a versatile machine, I often find in these tutorials things I might have missed or even just completely forgotten about! You're the best, Michael!
I agree took me a while to figure out and lots of money to see that it was Cricut brand material that was most of my problems when making things. I don't buy their materials anymore, I still have some left but very weary of using it.
Wow! This was a phenomenal tutorial. You really have a gift for teaching. Can you share which purple is on the top of your machine? It’s a fabulous shade!
I almost never comment on videos. However, this is the best tutorial, bar none, that I have seen on any topic. I feel like I have a firm grasp on the basics of using my Cricut: Getting started is the hard part lol.
Another amazing tutorial. You cover everything so nicely and I have yet not to learn at least a little something from each of your videos. I’m forever thankful for that suggested video that RUclips told me to watch. I know for sure I would have gotten beyond frustrated with Cricut and their products if it hadn’t been for you.
Michael you are truly amazing with all the help you you teach us newbies 😊 I need HELP getting my cricut explore 2 to calibrate correctly. I have had my machine for 2 months and still couldn't get it to calibrate correctly at all. I am wasting sooooo much material. Can you please help me with this? Thank you.
ThANK YOU Great Video Michael, this has been a great journey over a couple of week's. I now know I can by critcut machine and will be able to use it I am so excited thank's again.
Just finished your sweatshirt section. You just made me want to try HTV, which I have been avoiding because it seemed to far towards the deep end of the pool for me. I have had an easy press for several months and have been afraid to try it. Thanks again Michael!!!
Im getting into book binding. and ordered a cricut so I can just cut the book designs out of HTV rather then spend even more $$ to buy all the stamps and risk messing up. Saw a cricut hack where someone just cuts out the entire design on HTV. There are a few other items I wanted to buy a cricut for. so this was honestly a very helpful video because it didnt just go over 1 topic. I wanted to see more that I can do with the cricut so I can actually justify the purchase with my BF. So Thank you very much for this informational video.
THANK YOU MR. CRAFTY PANTS for this!!! In the first few minutes of your video, I learned something I wasn’t aware of… I’ve been paying $9.99 a month for Cricut Access not realizing that I was only renting the fonts and designs. Creative Fabrica is still running the 86% off ($47/year) deal as of 5/29/24 with many Many more designs and fonts! I just cancelled my subscription to Cricut and switched to Creative Fabrica and am already finding things I can’t wait to make 😍 Thanks for the info and inspiration! ❤
I absolutely love this video. So many teachers dont know to kinda dummy their' training up so that beginners understand and they leave out steps. I'm a subscriber. 😂❤
I just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU !!!! Thank you for everything that you do. There is absolutely NO OTHER crafter on here that Tops You !!!! You are NUMBER 1 !!!! You are and ALWAYS will be My FAVORITE !!! and my ALWAYS go to for Crafting Ideas !!!! Your the BEST !!!! You have made me re-think crafting. I have crafted for ... Well Lets just say A LOOOOONG Time. I bought the very first Cricut when it came out and then I got the next one, and I never really used it, Couldn't figure out what It actually did so I gave up. I have watched so many crafting people over the years and NOTHING interested me. THEN !!!! I FOUND YOU !!!!! And there was something about you, Your personality was A+ You made me laugh, you made mistakes, You made crafting fun !!!! I Now own The Cricut Maker, The Cricut Maker 3 And The Joy And Thanks to you I am using all of them !!! (And Spending LOTS OF MONEY !!! Thank You BOTH For doing all you do and putting up with so much and putting a smile on so many faces !!!!❤🤟
Thank you I'm an older beginner, and it's very scary . I have had my machine for some years and used it maybe twice with little success. I'm going to work on the stickers tomorrow. Thank you for making this video and giving me some hope . I have so much material I've never used looking forward to the next beginner video

Thanks for the video very useful, the vinyl in the cup You said permanent, can be wash in the dishwasher or no, ? many tips I really appreciate it. first time user for cricut.
So is the printer and regular printer or is it a sublimation printer? I'm asking if I'd need two printers? One regular and a sub printer to print out my different designs for different kinds of uses. Thanks for the great video. 👊🏽
That was a regular inkjet printer. You would need a separate printer for sublimation if you’re wanting to also go that route. Hope that helps and thanks for watching! 😊
One thing you should mention ~ when buy an SVG design you have to make sure you click on attach before mirroring it or you design will be all jumble up and not as it should be ~ I learned this the hard way
Great video and learning so much from you. However im not sure if you are aware without cricut access you cant upload an image with layers to the canvas. I end up using the duplicate and contour to create layers. I would be interested how you go around this?
I almost gave up crafting because I could NOT use transfer tape EVER successfully. A friend gave me some Frisco craft and it was a game changer! No issues at all!
Am really new even to the computer 😊 I have seen over a 100 vedios and I was wondering if you have a dumb it down vedio on the websites to use to turn a design or pic into a svg design 😊 Please and thank you
What a great video. Very well done and informative. I have one question how did you get the cricut to cut the sweatshirt design that big? Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.😊
Thanks for making the cricut so much easier to use!!! Do you have a place you get your shirts from at a decent price? They are getting expensive out there
So here's my comment About cricket as About cricket as well. I think their machines are great like you said, but I don't buy none of their vinyl unless I absolutely have to. But I do like some of their tools. But I like the fact that you're. Showing her stuff, that's not cricket brand. Cause I've had my cricket for years At least my Maker. And I'm still not savvy with all of the features and stuff so I have to usually ask how to do something when it comes time for me to do something I want to do I usually just make stuff for myself.
Hi. I like your videos. Is there anywhere else I can get your free designs as my computer says there is an error and won't let me get them. Perhaps it's because this is from February and we today is October 19, 2024. Thanks
#replaysquad Thank you, Michael. I was able to finish watching after my class. The video was amazing! Full of tips and educational information presented in a very entertaining and understandable manner! Loved all the pop-up "highlighted content notes" and little inserted video clips. They brought my attention immediately to the content being presented and kept me engaged throughout the tutorial! You are a very motivational and knowledgeable instructor. Almost everything I've learned about how to use my Cricut have been from your tutorials. Thank you! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much for your support! I'm so happy to hear that my tutorials have been helpful to you. Kind words, like yours, motivate me to keep creating more content. Thank you for being awesome!
@@mrcraftypants You're welcome. You deserve all this and so much more. Your passion and genuine interest in how your students and followers are doing is clearly evident in all you do. You instill a feeling of community that is shared and expressed by so many of your followers. It helps builds our confidence and allows us to learn without fear of making mistakes, to take that step away from the shore on a new journey whether it be our first beginner project or others as we grow. I always learn something new each time I watch your tutorials and enjoy every one, watching them many times over along the way. Thank you for being you, amazing you, Mr. Crafty Pants. ♥♥♥♥♥♥
I am confusted about the stickers ~ I noticed the size showing was quite large and you didn't change it so how do they all fit on a regular size paper ~ sorry but I am new to this and this is a great educational video so I want to make sure I fully understand things.
I'm just learning about the different vinyl name brands since I got my cricut joy xtra. I tried the dollar tree vinyl to test out and it wasn't what I expected it's very thin. I'll try the Starcraft vinyl next.
With Cricut access you are able to save more projects or have a larger number of project folders aren't you? I think there was more to it than just the designs and font I thought
They have some additional perks, but for me, personally, not enough to warrant the price tag. If it's worth it for you, then that's all that matters. 😃❤
I just got the Cricut Maker 3. I got some Cricut vinyl and transfer tape.... I already had Oracal vinyl and transfer... I am so disappointed with the Cricut materials. I would never purchase again. I will give StarCraft a shot. Thanks.
#REPLAY Michael, I really love your video editing! 💛💛💛 Donna Coastal Georgia Great Print then Cut. Great demonstration of the Calibration process also!

Great video Michael! You are an amazing teacher 💜 I learned some valuable information and can’t wait to “binge” more of your stuff! Thank you 😊
Thank you so much! That means so much to me! Thanks for watching! 😊
Thank you for all your videos. I am trying to figure out how/where to place my HT stencil on a sweatrshirt. Any pointers would be appreciated...
Great video, thank you. This will be perfect for my friend, going to buy her a Cricut for her birthday and she can learn so much from you.
You’re so sweet!! Thanks so much for watching! Hope she loves her new Cricut! ❤
Can you make a video or do you have a video on making a simple quilting stencil on 10mill mylar plastic? Thank you
What a great video. This video is jam packed with so many awesome tips for new Cricut users.
thanks so much! That means the world to me, Paulina!! ❤
One thing you should mention ~ when buy an SVG design you have to make sure you click on attach before mirroring it or you design will be all jumble up and not as it should be ~ I learned this the hard way
Thanks for this detailed video even though I have been watching you for a while now ❤It gave me more insight and new tips. Loved it❣️❤️
thank you SO much for watching! So glad to know that you found it helpful!! 😃
I Love all of your tips and informative educational details in this video! Thank you so much! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
That means the world to me! Thank you!!
Great video and learning so much from you. However im not sure if you are aware without cricut access you cant upload an image with layers to the canvas. I end up using the duplicate and contour to create layers. I would be interested how you go around this?
How did you get the neon pink? I’m finding it hard to get vibrant colours when printing and sublimating
Love the video
Glad to see you again and as always enjoyed watching your video.
thank you so much for watching, Darlene! 😃
#replay squad Thank you Michael. You are the reason I even unboxed my Cricut Explorer 3+ years ago. These are all great tips too!
That means the world to me! Thanks so much for watching! 😃
I almost gave up crafting because I could NOT use transfer tape EVER successfully. A friend gave me some Frisco craft and it was a game changer! No issues at all!
If you like Frisco Craft then you'd LOVE the StyleTech Clear Medium Tack... it's a night & day difference! 😃
Great video, I wish i saw this before I bought my cricut with the material bundle 😢, but thanks so much!
Thanks so much for watching! ❤❤❤
Am really new even to the computer 😊 I have seen over a 100 vedios and I was wondering if you have a dumb it down vedio on the websites to use to turn a design or pic into a svg design 😊
Please and thank you
I absolutely love Creative Fabrica
same here! 😃
Thank you ! I was hoping you will do a dark shirt print and cut. Where can I see that please ?
Here you go! This material will go on light or dark fabric 😊

What a great video. Very well done and informative. I have one question how did you get the cricut to cut the sweatshirt design that big? Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.😊
Thank you so much! The design was only 11” x 10.37”, but I think it probably looks a little bigger on that size of sweatshirt 😊
Thanks for making the cricut so much easier to use!!!
Do you have a place you get your shirts from at a decent price? They are getting expensive out there
Stay tuned! There’s a place I’ll be featuring in a video soon! 😊❤️
Michael, you are the BEST!
aww, thanks SO much, Wade!! That means so much to me!! I'm so glad you liked the video! 😃
I love the new format on your how to video!
thank you SO much! So glad you liked it!
So incredibly helpful! DAMN! And the tippy tips! TY for doing these vids 🫶
Can you use wax paper instead of parchment paper for vinyl placement?
I always forget the parchment paper and ruined a few projects cause of it. Thanks for the reminders! Great video, BTW!
I've forgotten the parchment paper a couple times myself and immediately regretted it! lol! Thanks so much for watching! 😃
Which cricut wiukd you recommend for all the things, please?
Hi. I like your videos. Is there anywhere else I can get your free designs as my computer says there is an error and won't let me get them. Perhaps it's because this is from February and we today is October 19, 2024. Thanks
@mrcraftypants is there a good vinyl to use on powder coated tumblers that will actually stick to them?? Thank you!
Thank you! ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Hello from Springdale Arkansas!
Hey! Thanks for watching! 😃
Love creative fabrica
same here 😃
I am confusted about the stickers ~ I noticed the size showing was quite large and you didn't change it so how do they all fit on a regular size paper ~ sorry but I am new to this and this is a great educational video so I want to make sure I fully understand things.
In my opinion. Cricut vinyl is the Satan of vinyl. Starcraft all the way
Agreed 😆😂
I'm just learning about the different vinyl name brands since I got my cricut joy xtra. I tried the dollar tree vinyl to test out and it wasn't what I expected it's very thin. I'll try the Starcraft vinyl next.
Newbie here- love your videos- you are the best!! 🎉
Thank you so much!! That means a lot to me! ❤️
1st timer here...LOL!
Awesome demo video! 💯
Lol! Thanks, Bill!
Great video. I learned a few more tricks
So glad you liked it! Thanks so much for watching 😊
Love this video!
How do you know which button to press on design space
thank you do you have a uk version thats better than cricut ones please
With Cricut access you are able to save more projects or have a larger number of project folders aren't you? I think there was more to it than just the designs and font I thought
They have some additional perks, but for me, personally, not enough to warrant the price tag. If it's worth it for you, then that's all that matters. 😃❤
I just got the Cricut Maker 3. I got some Cricut vinyl and transfer tape.... I already had Oracal vinyl and transfer... I am so disappointed with the Cricut materials. I would never purchase again. I will give StarCraft a shot. Thanks.
#REPLAY
Michael, I really love your video editing! 💛💛💛

Great Print then Cut. Great demonstration of the Calibration process also!
Thank you so much, Donna! That means the world to me ❤
Can I ask which is a good press .
All of the StarCraft Heat Presses are amazing!! ❤
Do you have to mirror the image.?
I like that Cricut calls vinyl iron-on because that is what you do - you iron it on
nothing wrong with the name at all. It just makes it a little confusing for a beginner when the same product can be called a few different things. 😃
