Got my GT86 one day before Christmas last year and its awesome to drive while it teaches you alot about driving. Already drove 1000km with it and its awesome. Of course on straight roads, the high powered sport cars are always faster but as as soon as insane curves are included, you beat 10x more expensive cars if your driving skill is superior which will take years. They didn't used to be. When I had mine around 3+ years ago I rarely saw another. But now they have become a lot more common. I sold it and bought a Lotus Elise after around 4 years of having it. Which is on another level performance wise, but none of the practicality.
Wrote one off then bought a property and couldn't live without one so I bought one again. There isn't much else I would rather own for the money. This car spoils you honestly I find it hard driving much else.
I am saving up for a gt86 as my first car, and i dont think that i should have anymore power in my first car. Becuase an unexperienced driver should start with something a little "slow". And i think the gt86 is a perfect car for norway becuase we have a lot of small twisty roads!
It is decent in the high revs but its all relative to what youre used to, and around the time I had a BMW M2 😅 But its still a fantastic car which I owned briefly. I need another one but with a supercharger!
These are built for twisty roads. Biggest gains or mods one can do is bolt on's and straight E85 and a tune .. All motor it should be pretty quick if not better. Only difference with mine is its supercharged. -
@@TheCarDoc1 A boosted 86 Turbo or SC is always going to be fun. Plenty of boosted 86 running around here in Sydney some have made close to 300HP on stock internals.
My wife has a 2016 Mini Cooper S. Subjectively it feels quicker in the traffic light drag race (once the tyres get traction). The other day I was alongside the same model Cooper S, supposedly 1sec faster 0-60 and the the driver was trying. I thought, I'm going to try an keep up at the next set of lights just to see what the difference is. There was hardly a cigarette paper in it. I was surprised. How when it comes to driving the twisties, there's no comparison as to which is the most fun. I've had my GT86 for 6.5 years, I'm usually thinking about what to get next after 2. It hasn't crossed my mind. Still loving it.
Absolutely, to me this is truly the best car in the world, nothing comes close to it's size, weight and most importantly fun. I swear by this car, I would marry this car, and I absolutely adore this car with every single strand of my body and every single drop of my soul, my love for cars truly is single handedly held together for my love for fun. And nothing can defeat a GT 86 for that (Although, I don't know about modern MX-5s and that, I think, is the only car that could hold a candle to the GT 86. Sure your Ferraris and Lambos are awesome, and I love them! But truthfully, I would take this car over them (perhaps with a tune and an exhaust) due to the dynamics. And the people that say "tHe 86 iS sL0w, sO iT's bAd" are the ones responsible for killing fun cars, for killing enthusiast cars and for killing affordable cars in favor of whatever thing can do 0.0000000001 second faster 0-60.
Only people with a decent IQ, Will appreciate an 86. I’d gap a Hellcat in a Downhill. Takes a lot more skill to turn a wheel, than to mash a peddle. 🤷🏽♂️

@David-g2l5n Lol all good
i always see these cars on the roads , as the most common type of sports car
You’d be right there, but theres a reason theyve sold so well (and why I bought one)…theyre amazing!
They didn't used to be. When I had mine around 3+ years ago I rarely saw another. But now they have become a lot more common.
I sold it and bought a Lotus Elise after around 4 years of having it. Which is on another level performance wise, but none of the practicality.
The new Gen2 is actually reasonably brisk. And the ride/handling is even better.
The 2017 up is a big difference to the first gen so if you can thats the one to buy. Just the 4.3 gear ratio alone changes the car
Wrote one off then bought a property and couldn't live without one so I bought one again. There isn't much else I would rather own for the money. This car spoils you honestly I find it hard driving much else.
Think weve got the nexy top gear presenter.. got my vote 👍👍
You’re way too kind haha
Unequal length headers + Tune + exhaust - your friend modded this car properly, not everyone does
I am saving up for a gt86 as my first car, and i dont think that i should have anymore power in my first car. Becuase an unexperienced driver should start with something a little "slow". And i think the gt86 is a perfect car for norway becuase we have a lot of small twisty roads!
Idk man I test drove one the other day and it felt pretty quick to me in the higher revs...
It is decent in the high revs but its all relative to what youre used to, and around the time I had a BMW M2 😅 But its still a fantastic car which I owned briefly. I need another one but with a supercharger!
Gt86 vs golf mk6 gti what should I choose
These are built for twisty roads.
Biggest gains or mods one can do is bolt on's and straight E85 and a tune .. All motor it should be pretty quick if not better.
Only difference with mine is its supercharged. -
Agreed, they’re super awesome, I had one, although the stock engine I found uninspiring, i wouldve loved it supercharged!
@@TheCarDoc1 A boosted 86 Turbo or SC is always going to be fun. Plenty of boosted 86 running around here in Sydney some have made close to 300HP on stock internals.
The suits were against this car being produced until they drove a prototype and then fell in love 😂
I wonder if you've driven the gr86
0 to 60 mpg 1 second less than a Rav4 hybrid. Would go for a Tesla or 2nd hand Porshe 911 instead.
Is an ND2 more fun to drive than this?
What’s the watch his wearing on the video ?
7.7 seconds? Whatt mines doing like 6.4-6.6
I think 7.7 is stock! I didnt measure this one exactly but I suspect its quicker :)
@@TheCarDoc1 I’m sure it’s around the mid 6’s mines stock too haha
Must be good on gas if it's not very fast?
My issue with it is it looks like it should be fast and it isnt
How much mileage it got for 1 lire fule kmpl
Car isn’t fast by any means but supercharged and it’s what it should of been as standard.
steering wheel on the right side and driving on the left side of the road looks really weird. It looks and is unnatural.
Maybe blur the speedo lol
Don't wanna risk it 😂
In hindsight 😅 thanks for commenting, stick around for more!
Actually I can edit it even when its up, good idea GR!
0-62 is 7.7* 0-60mph is much closer to 6.5 😁
Faster than your Civic
i want to get a gt86
You should buy one, theyre fantastic cars!
This is fresh air I breathe here, completely 180 degrees from the routine propaganda I get from carwow and the ilk.
Thank you so much for the kind words, they really help :)
Subaru makes brz
Toyota: Unn so I’m just gonna take that and claim as mine
Hahaha classic 😂 check out my latest video, I bought one!
The 0-60 is actually not real, i managed to do it in 6.5s with only better tires, that 7.x is probably without launching it
Oh really? Thats interesting to note! Thanks commenting! Stick around for more! Next time I get my hands on one I shall test the 0-60
The problem is the gt86 has very short gears and 2nd won't reach 60mph like most performance cars. E.g. My Elise will hit about 65mph in 2nd.
The 7 second one is for the automatics I believe. Manual should be around 6.4 seconds. The gearing on manuals allow for better acceleration.
Only people with a decent IQ, Will appreciate an 86. I’d gap a Hellcat in a Downhill. Takes a lot more skill to turn a wheel, than to mash a peddle. 🤷🏽♂️
fujiwara takumi
gt86/brz/frs

MF Ghost!
MF GHOST

I really wish that I can buy a GT86 or GR86 someday

@@TheCarDoc1 didn't think you'd reply! Thank you and I'm definitely a subber now!
@@yyttrrgg2nd thats very kind of you 🙂 Happy new year!!
Mx5 still cuts it😉
Oooh, well I think it would be very close between them!
I assume by your username you have a boosted mx5?
@@TheCarDoc1 haha not yet I wish, waiting on the demo car that's supercharged, got the plate ready and waiting😁
You might like to do a review of mine when the weather is a bit better, altho you will find it slightly familiar tho😀
@@boostmx9968 yes i’d very much like that when its ready!! NC?
