Great interview thank you. Geoff signed all my Queensryche albums in November 1990 in Nottingham on the “Building Empires” tour. @@CassiusMorrisOfficial good job. Never heard of you. I’m like how does this guy get to sit down with legends like this. But you’re doing it. You asked a lot of great questions. Great questions Sir. Great answers from Geoff. Cool trips he does as well. We will check those out. My personal opinion is that Empire is their most epic record.
I came here for the full interview. One dynamic I can share with people (from experience) is that if you are very smart and very driven, and reasonably self disciplined, and you are in a band - you will be the target of the rest of the band's ire - at least some of the time. My old band mates used to despise the fact that I pushed them to write better, or to practice more and be more tight. But in the intervening years, every single one of them has called me to say "Now I understand - thank you for the push because now I understand why". I am not tooting my own horn - I push myself in everything I do because I love everything I am doing, and I have this deep fear of wasting time. I think Geoff is like that - and I suspect he understands the dynamic. That effect occurs in any scenario where you work with other people, by the way. I've encountered it in business. One thing I try to do now is to make it clear with both words and action, that I am always in service to others and to the end result. That helps to balance and stabilize some of the envy that people will have towards over-achievers.
I can't stress enough how underestimated he is. he is an absolute genius of a singer and a songwriter. Roads to Madness- still gives me chills to this day after 20 some years.

Excellent interview with Geoff. My first Queensryche show was 1985 Warning tour when they opened for Kiss in Sacramento. My friends and I were already fans since the EP and were blown away hearing The Warning for the first time. Rage for Order brought it to another level for a lot of us. I was fortunate to see all of those tours and into the 2000s. Good to hear Geoff is doing well and found that heart problem before it became something irreparable.
The Ep, Rage For Order, The Warnimg, Operation:MindCrime, Empire and. Promised Land are all 1 million percent perfect albums from beginning to end. Great interview. First time seeing a Geoff Tate interview and I'm a longtime fan. The part where Geoff spoke about talking to the president from their record company and how Empire sold so well,...speaking for myself, Operation Mindcrime was so great that I had to hear what was coming next. Operation Mindcrime, to this day, is my favourite album. Back then I was buying cassettes and I had to buy 3 because I listened to it so much it wore out the tapes. I also advertised it like crazy and got a lot of people I went to high school to buy the album. I also remember the first time I heard it. I had been seeing their name in Columbia House advertisements and I wanted to check them out. My brother just happened to be travelling to Boston to see a Red Sox-Blue Jays baseball game and I asked him to get me all the Queensryche cassettes he could find. He got home at 5 in the morning and had gotten The Warning and Operation Mindcrime. I slipped Mindcrime into my walkman right away and was blown away by what I was hearing. It still gives me goosebumps to think about it. Such a great album and I'm a big fan of Geoff Tate.
I really liked his answer, good perspective. He has moved on. He loves what they accomplished as a band. Queensryche A leaguers, Tate arguably on the MT. Rushmore of metal vocalists. I liked him mocking Guns N Roses for only doing 3 albums over 30 years.... I heard a documentary is being made on the alleged spitting incident between Tate and Scott Rockenfield, they suggest there was a second spitter.
I remember hearing Queensrÿche the first time they were ever played on KISW in seattle when i was a teen and soon as the voice sounded off, the first thing i said to my buddy was these guys are going to be legendary, they are and im feeling old lol
I thoroughly enjoyed this interview and agree with everything he said. He’s correct about the healthcare system in the U.S., and about pesticides, fertilizers and growth hormones in food. Eat organic guys. It really makes a difference. Glad he’s doing well. I listened to Queensryche from the very beginning. Saw the Warning tour in a club! Met them as well. Got a chance to be in a radio station with Chris DeGarmo. I still have the interview and a radio ID that was done for me and my ex. Wish nothing but the best for Geoff. He influenced so many singers.
What a great interview. I'm glad to see Geoff is doing well and enjoying life like he should. He was very thoughtful and insightful with his comments. What a great guy. So Cassius I was finally able to finish watching this interview. It was nice to see someone asking interesting questions, AND following them up and getting clarification when needed. The one consistent thing about Tate that really bothers me however, is that he NEVER admits any culpability in what happened with the band members, and more importantly WHY it happened the way it did. Additionally, I am in possession of all of the sworn affidavits from the band members as a result of the 2012 legal proceedings, and can say Tate either has selective recall, or is a borderline narcissist. That said, excellent interview dude!!!
Great interview brother. Geoff's voice talking is as awesome as his singing! So powerfull and soothing. Thanks Geoff for all the incredible music! Cheers.😊
Great interview. Geoff is not only an incredible singer, he's an incredible human. Been a Queensryche fan since early on. I had a copy of that original EP prior to them getting signed. Saw them open for KISS at Nassau Coliseum when The Warning came out then at a small club in Queens, NY during the Rage For Order tour and various times after Mindcrime came out.
How do you know he's an incredible human? My best friend just asked for his autograph at Tower Records in Mountain View, CA... Geoff said to my friend Chris..."Give me a blowjob and I'll sign what you want" Geoff was his hero...Chris was shocked and not gay so he walked away without an autograph.

I would shit my pants if I could go hang out with Geoff on his outings...Wow that's so cool he does that... Thank you Geoff for all the music you've gave your loved , Neacha in Alaska
I have been to the church in Montreal where he walked into inspiring mindcrime . I lived blocks from it . I have the same birthday as rockenfield . Dealt with scott getting a custom drum wrap for 30 seconds to mars.
Saw them in Green Bay WI on the Operation Mindcrime tour. They were openers for Metallica And Justice For All tour. Still the best show I have EVER seen. Man I miss the 80s
I hope it's just the bad connection from his phone, because Geoff's speaking voice has dramatically deepened since I last heard him being interviewed in 2019. His voice is unrecognizable and it's only been 5 years.
When it comes to reuniting with old members, the real answer he responded with was "We gave that a great run, it was successful, we did great things, it's time to do other things now.
He spit on them because he was mad they no longer wanted his wife and daughter in charge of the band's business affairs (eg. merchandise and mgt, respectively.)
He's enjoying his life and he's happy and that's a good thing. What else would he do, a reunion until the 100th album? If I were him, I'd spend the whole day cycling and swimming or something. Maybe make videos about microphones or singing lessons from time to time...
Why do interviewers keep asking the 'get back together with Chris D" question? Read the tea leaves, CD is a commercial pilot, and has been much longer than a pro musician. He's a pilot first and foremost, and Queensryche was his first job, how many of you are still doing your first job or have moved on to better things? CD is not stupid to go back into the music industry now, giving up a pilots salary for touring to survive. Pilots have much better and more lucrative part time options in retirement too. GT appears tired of answering the question...and it's justified. You can even hear the tiredness in Todd LeTorre interviews, the rest of the orig band are tired too as touring is the only way to make money to pay GT and SRock off. Even Parker had enough as he discovered his ($$) passion.
I think you are a vocal legend, been a fan from day one but the current musicians you have are a big let down for me. The quality of your band members in Queensryche were amazing, so sad things got ugly. A voice like yours deserves musicians of the same calibre not pub band level musicians. 😢
Great interview. It’s always interesting to listen to Geoff, he’s obviously more than just a Rock n’ Roll singer/musician, he’s a thinker, and his answers on other topics are obviously based on a solid foundation of logic and humility. As for those celebrities who fear revealing the human side of themselves, perhaps due to a lack of substance, Geoff clearly gains additional kudos for being the admirable man he is. Glad his heart surgery went well and that he’s collating a bunch of music to break out to the public. Truly great news.

First there was Rush 2112, and then came Queensrÿche Operation Mindcrime. 2 Iconic albums! Concept albums at it's finest!
Very well done interview. Great to hear Geoff discuss a variety of topics. A very thoughtful and articulate person.
