My septum piercing has to be my favorite piercing. I have it flipped up like 99% of time but it's like my little secret... its personal and its mine. Healing was super easy and quick. Strongly recommend this piercing!
I have had mine for over twenty years and have only had two "problems" with it. #1: It can be a pain in the butt blowing your nose, because you have to take time to wipe all the snot off the ring/bar. #2: In the winter the ring/bar (if metal anyway) can get really cold and thus make your nose feel colder than usual. This can make your nose runny too... which leads back to #1.
@@roadkill3881 I used baby wipes (there are some called "Boogie Wipes" made just for noses) and I kinda stroked my nose more then blowing it like normal. I don't have allergies, so thats about all the advice I got.

As a professional piercer, I love your content and love either a refresher or learning something new. The only thing that I'd like to ask you to add to your videos are some photos for comparison or examples. Keep doing the good work man!
Well, thank you. I fully appreciate the desire to refresh and continue to research your passion. I don't care how long you've been piercing, you need to research and expand knowledge regularly. I always try to take the time to dig into a subject at least once a week. To refresh my knowledge and see if there is any new information. I struggle with remembering to take photos of my own work. In part because I only post healed piercings and in part because even though I have three cameras sitting a few feet away, I never remember to. I have used other people's photos from time to time but I try to limit that as much as possible. As far as video I don't like the idea of posting piercing footage. My fear is that someone will use it as a training manual and start piercing themselves or others without the benefit of supervision and guidance of a professional piercer that comes with apprenticing. Thank you for watching and your comment.
I'm glad you found us. I did a video on stretching a while back ruclips.net/video/mwbsz5px0U0/видео.html. Take a look and if you thinking I should expand more on it or focus more on eatlobes, I'll put it in the schedule.
@@bbfail450 great question! My mom was very easy as she told me she'd be ok with a piercing for my sweet 16 as long as it wasn't my stomach or chest. My dad, however, was very difficult to convince. I considered his concerns, which the main ones were professionalism and Permanence. I told him the piercing was hideable and that if I end up someday not wanting the piercing I could take it out and the scar, if one was left, would be completely invisible TL;DR find your parents concerns with the piercing, address them and find a way to prove them wrong
Thank you. Continuing with my research, I've become a little worried about the smell during healing. Although some people have said they like the smell. I hope I don't end up abandoning it. Ah well, no point procrastinating about it I suppose. I will ask my piercer about what technique he will use.
i’m getting mine pierced on sunday and i’ve spent the last hour and a half doing research on it and listening to other peoples piercing stories so i know what i’m getting myself into lol.
Body Piercing & Tattooing thank you! And yeah it was actually quite useful, you went into detail unlike a lot of other youtubers I’ve seen. (piercers too)
My septum piercing is almost done healing and it's been a cakewalk! It's taken less than my earlobes. I can't wait to put a cute ring in when it's ready.
I love my septum piercing!!! My piercer definitely wasn’t the best and he literally had to re-pierce my nose which was pretty wild. When they re did it it hurt 5x more than the first one and went through my cartilage. That being said, it’s my favorite thing ever!! Love it so much and is definitely worth the 25 minutes of pain
I love my septum piercing. I've had it for 2 years and it healed so easy. It didn't hurt at all either. I agree with what others have said about it being a pain in the butt to blow your nose.
A tip from someone who has this piercing: try to have extra balls on hand if you are using a horseshoe ring because they will fall off from time to time. Also if you live in a cold and dry climate and get this piercing in the winter, it might cause nosebleeds and a very runny nose. It happened to a few of my friends and me. So just try to keep the air in your home less dry in the winter if you can.
An additional hint is only buy internally threaded jewelry. It usually will take more turns to unloosen and fall off. Also during dry seasons, use saline nostril sprays.
I am getting my septum pierced tomorrow and I am really nervous about it hurting a lot and about something going wrong. I have been watching so many videos about septum piercings but your personality drew me in and now I'm watching videos for piercing I don't even think I want to get haha. I really enjoy your content and thanks for the information, it' eased my nerves a bit.
Body Piercing & Tattooing It turned out great! I went to a reputable piercer and it was so quick and painless. I already had my nostril done and it was no worse than that. Now I just want my other nostril done!
I had my septum pierced in 2014 at a studio of ill repute (I only found out afterwards) but this studio was (and still is) the most popular in my city because they charge £10 for every piercing. The piercer pierced my septum at a crazy angle and had to do it again to get it as straight as possible. I've had no problems in 6 years and the healing period was completely fine. Despite the experience being less than pleasant, I love my septum piercing and definitely recommend 👌
@@mmklthn it's actually normal. The lacrimal canal is connected from your eye to your nose and can cause your nose to run when you cry. I've never heard of someone NOT getting a runny nose whyle crying
LOVE your content! After years of wanting my septum piercing, I finally did it this week and I'm so happy 💖 honestly it doesn't hurt as bad as some people claim, the worst part was holding my nose to supress a sneeze and forgetting I have a chunk of metal there now 😅 so all you people debating? Just bloody do it already! ✌
A septum is so freakin common nowadays I see it EVERYWHERE. I’ve always known I’ll get it eventually and it’s definitely time. Covid is stopping me tho :(
My septum was the first piercing I got and the reason I chose it was because I was 16 and I liked flipping it up and hiding it in front of my parents and at school.😂 It was probably a 2/10 on the pain scale for me,it healed in about two weeks and it was amazing after that! I took it out a while ago but I have no regrets about it whatsoever.
In the US where piercing is unregulated, it is up to the piercer and the studio. However, most piercer will not pierce anyone under the age of 16 without the consent of a legal guardian. Also there is the legal issue that a minor in the US can not be a signatory on a legal form. Thus can not sign a waiver.
Aww so bummed. Wanted to have my septum done and they said my sweet spot was pretty small. They could do the piercing but it would sit against my cartilage and could cause complications. So they adviced against it. A week later I went back to do my nostril instead.
@Znyvi omg how are your cartilage now? I got my cartilage pierced too! The piercer said it was my sweet spot, but I saw it from the mirror, that's my cartilage. And I let it because it's not too low.. I wanna know how's your healing process now?
This is a great video. I got my septum piercing done about 5 weeks ago. And like you said the easiest heal that I've had! I still get slight crusties every now and again. But I recently started adding a small drop of tea tree oil to my cleaning routine. Which has been working wonders. Hoping by the six week marker that it will be ready for the shorter circular barbell.
Thank you for all the videos and information! You stand out to me from other videos by the way you explain the process of each piercing and information that many others leave out. With you being a piercer for over 25 years and still being able remember to share all the little things that come natural to you in the process is impressive. I am a new piercer and appreciate the great videos.
You're welcome. I think I've always approached teaching and educating others, with the assumption that they no the least about the topic. Thank you for watching and good with your new career in piercing!
Just a hobbyist here, but started doing body mod. work way back in the early days (piercing, tattoos, implants, etc.) I am getting ready to do more so I am getter some refreshers, after many years and I really like you channel. good, straight foreword advice, presented in a pretty complete and quite concise manner. You're the best I've found. I know you may not want to "seem like one of them" but I would love someone like you to do a video on the difference between A Tutorial done by a pro and what is just a video of some idiot trying to do something on camera. I am amazed how many people seem to have a large following and do not get called out for badly, miss-restating, what their friend thinks they remember hearing one from some guy.
this video was SO helpful! Got my septum piercing and felt well prepared bc of this video! Thank you! The piercing was almost painless. I’d rate it a 2 on a pain scale of 1-10. It felt just like the normal nose piercing, the initial pinch and then nothing. I didn’t feel him putting the jewelry in but it was painless. If you’re thinking about getting it? GET IT!!!! :)
Body Piercing & Tattooing ofc! Also I had a quick question, I hope you don’t mind! 😭 I just got my septum done today 😅 but if I turn it inside would it heal the same? My piercer said yes but I also don’t trust their judgment because they said I could move it around with no impact on healing time and that I could switch it in 2 weeks 😬
It's best not to change the jewelry until it is healed. Yes, you can heal the piercing with the jewelry flipped up. You do want to limit how often you flip it. For example if you work Monday through Friday. I would suggest flipping it up on Monday and down on Friday.
Body Piercing & Tattooing thank you so sooo much! You’re always there for answering everyone’s questions, you’re so amazing and kind. May you have a great day! ✨
this was really helpful, thank you!! love your delivery. i have been wanting this piercing since foreverrrr but i am just a tad scared but i think i am really going to get through with it. i heard you say things that i have not heard in other videos so i am glad i clicked on this! thank you again. lovely day and stay safe💕
Glad that you found that the video was helpful. The pain is never as bad as you think it will be. The key is finding a skilled and experienced piercer. Do your research and you'll be fine.
I love your content! Today I got my septum redone for the 3rd time and I was very surprised that it hurt a lot less than my nostril (which was done only a few mins prior), just speaks to the forgiving nature of the septum itself
Hey Davo. I'm by no means a professional, but I do have an after care option for those who do the dumb like I did and get pierced right before allergy season. I used a sterile spray and sterile wipes for those days that my allergies made my piercing more tender. I found that it made it so I could keep it clean. I would like to know your thoughts on this. My piercer is the one who suggested the spray I used the sterile wipes to clean the excess. Also found it tended to help with discharge
It really depends on the sterile wipes and what the active ingredient is. My main concern would be that it is too harsh. However sterile saline spray would not only help with keeping the sinuses clean but will help heal the piercing and clean off the discharge.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing I have multiple severe allergies and have to use a cortisol spray twice a day. Could I still get a septum or would you advise against it?
my septum is actually stretched to 4g and i love it !! it was the easiest and fastest healer compared to my other piercings and it’s definitely my favorite one :) the only con i have is when it’s cold out the jewelry also gets rlly cold and makes my nose runny, other than that it’s an amazing piercing !
I usually suggest cleaning the night afterwards or the next morning. As far as flipping I would hold off for a day or two. If you need it up for work, I usually suggest that you let me flip it up and leave it up until the next day off.
It is always best to heal piercings when you are not sick. Sickness can prolong healing and deplete your immune system. This question dies come up often. The piercing once healed will not be effected by sickness. In fact, I have a number of clients even heal out the piercing without issue while sick. Let's face it, colds are not something we plan on and happen often when healing a nostril or a septum piercing. Remember everything but fecal that comes out of your body is safe for you and will not cause infection.
I love my septum piercing but it’s been a bitch. My piercer had to take my piercing out 30 seconds after piercing me because he realized how small the ring was in diameter (i got a completely closed ring because i didn’t need to hide it for my job) and was worried about when it would swell. I’m thankful he switched the ring out, but that was extremely painful to do, and the side he put the ring back through had a tougher time healing and was genuinely just a pain in the ass until recently (got it done in late December)
As I always try to make my clients understand that in a majority of cases, it is better too have jewelry that is too large than too small. At least your piercer noticed this at the time of the piercing and corrected it. Thank you for sharing your experience.
In what situations do you generally notice more swelling in septum piercings?? Do you notice it more with piercings that are either through or against the cartilage? What about times of the year?? Does cooking with spicy or acidic foods affect the healing process at all?? What about wearing a mask??
Regardless of the location of the piercing, it all comes down to how your body reacts to the piercing and trauma. Cooking shouldn't effect it. The masks really don't contact the piercing. Just make sure to replace them with a clean one often.
I had my septum done and took it out like 2 weeks after, i couldn't deal with the feeling, it made me feel anxious, it was healing beautifully, also they said i didn't had a sweet spot so idk if that was a bad thing
Everyone's anatomy is different but sometimes it's difficult to read a person's body to find that right spot. Septums are more prone to this then other piercings. In my years of piercing, I haven't came across someone that doesn't have a sweet spot. Yes, there is some where the spot isn't big enough to fit the jewelry. Yes, Piercing into cartilage isn't ideal and can be more difficult to heal and prone to problems. With piercings they need to feel natural and become part of you, when they don't, they can feel like torture.
I was lucky I changed my septum hoop ring 5 days later, for a smaller D-ring in size 8mm, and I haven't had any problems with healing. The original septum ring was too big for work, in my opinion. I used a Disinfectant / numbing cream and this made it basically painless, thank God.
Yes, you were lucky that you got the jewelry in and the new jewelry didn't introduce a foreign pathogen into the piercing. I really don't think the numbing cream was needed and could have caused side effects.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing It was a Disinfectant that had a numbing effect, that's why I thought it was okay.🤭 Removing the round original septum ring was so painful! I had to use a cutting pliers, because I had no idea how it was put in. Ouch! 😢
Sounds like you caused a lot of trauma and this is one of the reasons I suggest that you see your piercer to change jewelry. I'm guessing that you used bactine. That limited contact shouldn't have caused issues.
Got it less then a week ago and im so happy with it. I was lucky because I have a very diveated septum like one of the worse my pircer has seen but its only a little crooked to where you cant really notice. So so so happy with it. Hoping for a quick recovery so I can get my eyebrow done
i'm getting mine done the week of my birthday, in about 7 days which is before my birthday. My double helix and industrial were the worst to get pain wise. My regular ear piercings and regular labret didn't really hurt all that much, though feeling the sharpness against my skin before the insertion hurt more. *shivers* Why do I torture myself so much? I have 13 piercings and 11 tattoos and hate pain. But love the piercings/tattoos.
I want a septum piercing but I've had two surgeries to correct my severely deviated septum including a full on nose job 😅 my septum is still slightly crooked but nowhere near as bad as it was before. Am i completely screwed?
I've got my septum, my bridge and snakebites done and I'll say that the septum was by far the easiest one to heal. The only thing that REALLY sucks about it is if you get sick, and you get a runny nose, you're in for one hell of a time blowing your nose. Especially if it's still in the healing process.
I'm guessing because I'm a day behind of replying that you already got the piercing. How did it turn out? If you haven't gotten it yet, Good Luck and let's us know how it turns out.
I wanna do my septum at home which I know is a terrible idea, but earlier this month I was supposed to get it done professionally. This trained piercer was doing a special where u could get your septum pierced for $12. I had the appointment set for March 13th. Since I don't have a state ID yet I used my voters registration card and my school ID. I didn't realize I forgot my school ID at home. My mom's friend who took me there didn't have time to take me home to get then go back so I set it for a later date. I couldn't get a ride that day and forgot to cancel the appointment so I'm deciding to do it at home instead.
11:16 - while getting mine done, the piercer told me that i have quite a high septum so they suggested i change it to a ring once it had healed (which was my plan anyway) but yeah during the healing process my septum often just looked like two silver balls because most of the barbell was in my nose
I wouldn't suggest changing the jewelry until it heals. As flipping the jewelry I only suggest doing it a couple of times a week. Usually the beginning of the work week and the end of the week.
Hi! this information is very useful, thank you! Also, I have a question; is it ok to flip the piercing up ,while it is healing, from time to time? In my workplace, unfortunately, I would have to hide this piercing (I know a coworker that has ome too but she flips it up during work hours)
Yes, it is best to leave it up or down but if you are going to flip the jewelry up, do it at the beginning of the work week and down at the end of the week.
I got my septum not to long ago and it healed fairly quickly and I love it☺️ but also I did like that you mentioned sizing because I do see people walking around with this huge ones or ones that are slightly bigger then mine and I’m just like woah I personally don’t like that look but if it suits you go ahead why not.
I got mone done a few days ago. I know I'm going to get some negative feedback from my family. But I keep reminding myself that their opinion of me and not liking what makes me happy doesn't matter. It holds no bearing over my life. I'm 30 years old , an adult and It makes me happy. I'm going to tell my granddad " I'm in the business of being happy and living ". By saying that , i just politely told him to go fuck off and kick rocks haha
@@BodyPiercingTattooing yes, my family is not big on being an individual. They want me to do what's expected and what's right to them. I'm the black sheep fo the family, but I'm happy being me. Thank you for your videos, I really appreciate them and will be subscribing to your channel
my septum was done in the wrong place it was done rlly rlly low down. and i'm pretty sure it started rejecting because after about two weeks i could see a line leading down to where it was and it looked like a scab. and i tried to unscrew the balls but they were so tight and i reached out to a piercing place nearby to see if they could take it out for me and they said they couldn't because it wasn't their piercing. but i couldn't go back to where i had it pierced because i got it when i was on holiday 5 hours away. 😭 i eventually got it out by using pliers to loosen the ball but it was so painful actually twisting the jewellery out and the screwy part got stuck in the middle of my nose and omg that's the worst pain i have ever felt 😭😭😭😭
OK first off big ass boo to the studio that wouldn't help you remove the jewelry because they didn't do it. I don't know if it's laziness or snobbiness but they should be will to help. Maybe charge but at the least not just refuse. Sorry you had to go through that. Rejection with septums is rare. They pretty much have to piece completely below the sweet spot. Or your body just has no tolerance for the piercing at all.
Thank you for this, I’ve been thinking about getting a septum piercing and talked to my friends that had it, did as much research about the pain, pros and cons, etc. I’m very surprised it heals really quickly. I thought it would take 6-8 months but 2-4 months is really fast. Edit: I got it two weeks ago, doesn’t hurt that much, the aftercare is worse than actually getting it, but stops hurting after about a week? The pain is worth it and I love the piercing.
I would suggest starting with the one feature on your face that you like the most. A piercing if done right can draw attention to the area and enhance it.
Could you turn the jewelry up in your nose while it is still healing, or will that damage it? Also, could you do a video on how to properly close a piercing? My monroe didn't work out and I want to make sure I'm healing it correctly.
Yes, but I only suggest doing after a soak or compress and only a few times a week. If it's for work, fljp it up at the beginning of the week and then flip it down at the end of the week. Are you asking for a video on abandoning a piercing, closing jewelry or on how to know when it's healed.
Awwww this video is a day before my birthday! lol :) I was wondering if you can wear a regular horseshoe as a normal earring? That would be cool. :) I was actually thinking of getting a horseshoe piercing at the top of my ear. :)
Circular barbells can pretty much be worn anywhere a ring can. Ears, lips, eyebrows, nipples, navels, and many genital piercings. The biggest thing is to get internally threaded and check the tightness of the balls regularly
I want to get mine done, but fear the fact I’ve always got a runny nose thanks to allergies and working in a cold environment will cause me healing issues. Never had a problem with my nostril piercing but I am worried about this one
So...I'm no piercer but I've wanted a septum for so long that I've done so much research and some sites say that putting in a hoop-like piece of jewelry isn't good for any new piercing, is that true in any way?
I wanna get mine done, but I know a lot of people who said they got theirs pierced wrong and not in the “sweet spot” causing really bad pain and horrible healing process. How do I avoid that
See your piercer. The first thing is to figure out what is. Then what's causing it. If you don't remove the cause, no matter what you do, it will keep coming back.
I just got my septum piercing done yesterday and I have noticed that when I do a certain facial expression or move the piercing to clean, I start to sneeze. Like right after touching it (obviously with clean sanitized hands) I experience a pinch on one nostril and *sneeze*. Why tho?
I just got my septum pierced 3 days ago and the piercer said I had a really short sweet spot and that it was more than likely going to go through the cartilage. I still said I wanted to do it because you said It isn’t incorrect but takes longer to heal. I’ve had soreness and some scabbing around it . I’ve cleaned it with saline and soaked a q-tip with the saline to get the crust off because it hurts to move my face if I don’t . My jewelry always tends to point towards the tip of my nose. He said if I kind of push it down every one and a while that it should stop after a week or two. Is there anything I can do to make my healing go extra smooth ? I watched this video and definitely wanted to get it done afterwards!!
It may settle but I have a feeling that maybe the jewelry being too small. If you are happy with the piercing otherwise, I would leave it be and see how it turns out.
ive had mine for about 10 years now. I would recommend anyone getting one to use Bactine max its a pain relieving spray helps with the pain when cleaning. I've sprayed on a qtip and wipe the area then spray the jewelry.
Cleaning the piercing shouldn't be painful at all. All you need to do is spray the area with a sterile saline spray like neilmed piercing aftercare or wound wash spray. Let it stay in contact with the piercing for a few minutes and then rinse or pat dry. No spinning, picking or qtips.
Would it be okay if I flip a healing septum in the morning and flip it back up after noon? My University doesnt care but id rather not have it displayed in school but dont mind outside.
Ideally you would heal the piercing before flipping the piercing at all. Movement of the piercing during healing However due to work, education and social situations that isn't always an option. So the next best option is to flip the jewelry at the beginning of the week and then flipping it down at the end of the week. Always do the flipping after a compress or soak.
Is this when the jewelry is moved? If so you may not be getting all the discharge aka crusties off. Try using more of the saline and don't move or play with the piercing.
I have really bad allergies in the spring and summer and have constant runny noses, should I still get this piercing? I would wait to get it in the colder months when my allergies aren't as bad but will the constant blowing my nose be a problem after it's healed?
Though the jewelry might get a little messy during allergy season, you should have no issue with the piercing. Yes, I would suggest getting pierced during the colder months.
@@stephaniestuffer1688 I got mine done right before allergy season for me. In my experience it only increased my daily care time by about 10 minutes due to mucous. I used a spray when my piercing was too tender to use any other method of cleaning, then wiped off with sterile wipes best I could. That was back in January.
Alright, I'm sure you've heard and seen people act like it doesn't hurt, or holler like you're killing them when you do septums, but I have to know. Typically, for someone like me who feels pain in everything, I have a question. So, my cartilage in my ears getting pierced with a 14gauge and 16gauge, and probably an 18 gauge, hurt like a bitch. My lobe piercings hurt but not too badly. My labret hurt more when he put the sharp point against the outside of my bottom lip a bit more than running it through to make a hole. So, my question, typically is it something akin to my labret piercing pain, ear lobe piercing pain, or ear cartilage piercing pain? I REALLY want this, but I'm scared shit less that it'll hurt as much as my ear cartilage or worse. Also, I constantly blow my nose, use a tissue to 'dry' the inside after sneezing or blowing, would that cause a problem? And if I were to, let's say get it today, and had work tomorrow, would I be able to flip it as soon as the day I got it, or would I have to wait weeks? Thanks. I so want this piercing badly, but with the pain I've gone through with my ear cartilage which are sensitive, I don't know how sensitive my nos would be until I got this.
I need to point out that I've had clients where we've done more painful areas and did flinch and then did an upper ear and screamed bloody murder. We all have spots. Septum if done correctly through the sweet spot tends to not be that painful. However, I've had mixed reactions. One thing is for sure I've never had any one scream. With flipping the jewelry up, I suggest flipping up at the begin of the work week and leaving it up. If you are going to flip it down do it at the end of the week. So five days up, two days down. Colds, allergies, etc... Aren't an issue. The jewelry can get in the way and get a little gross but otherwise not a problem.
I'm getting a septum piercing in a few days, I found your video so helpful, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge:) !! The only issue I have it that Im a swimmer, could I go to a pool a month or so after doing this piercing???
My daughter wants one bad but I don’t prefer look and i like idea of hiding it. When or how soon is it safe to hide? She’s okay with hiding it but can she do it right after getting it pierced?
I’m not sure if you’ll respond but how can you tell if you’ll look good with a septum? I’ve wanted one for a while but I think maybe my face isn’t suited for facial piercings. Also, I have allergies multiple times a year. In the fall and in the spring. Should this stop me from getting a septum or should I get one anyways?
You can try out some of the fake jewelry that is out there but understand that the jewelry is not the best quality and material. However it will give you an idea of what it will look like. Piercings become a part of you once the heal. Allergies usually aren't an issue.
It really depends on how extreme it is. One thing it can really cause issues with and making the piercing to appear more crotched. That is the main reason that most piercer will pass on doing them. Some say that it is more painful but I'm not sure why this would be. Other than to make it appear more even, the piercing may pass through some of the thicker cartilage. The truth is that no ones nose or septum is perfectly straight. If you are really concerned about it, talk to your doctor about getting a septoplasty, If it is effecting your breathing or sleep, it maybe covered by insurance.
I just got mine from a reputable piercer and he recommended to wash with water and neutral soap, rinse, dry with soft tissues, and spray microdacyn/hypochlorite as a antiseptic. Would you recommend doing the saline instead? I've had it for about a week and have been sanitizing like that no issues 🤷♂️

I just got mine yesterday, and it’s my secret from my fam.. I love it, and I want to get my snake bites done on my 16th birthday
Thank you for sharing your experience and watching.

I agree. It is more of the great things about piercing, just a jewelry change can make it look completely different.
You should do a video on ear stretching! Just found your account and I'm enjoying it a lot
I'm glad you found us. I did a video on stretching a while back ruclips.net/video/mwbsz5px0U0/видео.html. Take a look and if you thinking I should expand more on it or focus more on eatlobes, I'll put it in the schedule.
Im getting my septum done for my sweet 16, i can't believe i convinced my parents. Im super excited!!
How'd you convince them 😭
@@bbfail450 great question! My mom was very easy as she told me she'd be ok with a piercing for my sweet 16 as long as it wasn't my stomach or chest. My dad, however, was very difficult to convince. I considered his concerns, which the main ones were professionalism and Permanence. I told him the piercing was hideable and that if I end up someday not wanting the piercing I could take it out and the scar, if one was left, would be completely invisible
TL;DR find your parents concerns with the piercing, address them and find a way to prove them wrong
@@eravere6928 Thanks, I'm gonna ask them today 🙏🏻

Glad you found the video helpful. Good luck with you Septum piercing and let us know how it turns out.
Thank you. Continuing with my research, I've become a little worried about the smell during healing. Although some people have said they like the smell. I hope I don't end up abandoning it.
Ah well, no point procrastinating about it I suppose. I will ask my piercer about what technique he will use.
my dad’s been a professional piercer for over 20 years and he’s doing this for me this week! i’m so excited
i’m getting mine pierced on sunday and i’ve spent the last hour and a half doing research on it and listening to other peoples piercing stories so i know what i’m getting myself into lol.
how is it going?
He looks so nice and sweet
I haven’t even started the video but I already trust him haha

Body Piercing & Tattooing
thank you! And yeah it was actually quite useful, you went into detail unlike a lot of other youtubers I’ve seen. (piercers too)
My septum piercing is almost done healing and it's been a cakewalk! It's taken less than my earlobes. I can't wait to put a cute ring in when it's ready.
Septum piercings are a little easier because of 5ge limited amount of contact. Lobes are more likely to have trauma and contact than a septum.
Thank you for sharing your experience!!!
I love my septum piercing. I've had it for 2 years and it healed so easy. It didn't hurt at all either. I agree with what others have said about it being a pain in the butt to blow your nose.
Thank you for sharing your experience and watching.
I got mine pierces about 3 weeks ago and so far it looks almost perfectly straight. Happy with it. Goes well with my snakebites
did it hurt more than snake bites ?
@@anajoliscubi620 it was about the same pain level

I had my septum pierced in 2014 at a studio of ill repute (I only found out afterwards) but this studio was (and still is) the most popular in my city because they charge £10 for every piercing. The piercer pierced my septum at a crazy angle and had to do it again to get it as straight as possible. I've had no problems in 6 years and the healing period was completely fine. Despite the experience being less than pleasant, I love my septum piercing and definitely recommend 👌
Yeah, you get what you pay for but often those new to piercing really don't know the difference. Thank you for sharing your experience and watching.
for me the only con is when u cry its difficult to wipe ur nose so having colds is a bit of a pain
That should fade over time.
@Mr. Who does your nose not run when you cry?
@Mr. Who huh. It happens to me every time, as well as nearly everyone I know
@Mr. Who oh 😟
@@mmklthn it's actually normal. The lacrimal canal is connected from your eye to your nose and can cause your nose to run when you cry. I've never heard of someone NOT getting a runny nose whyle crying

A septum is so freakin common nowadays I see it EVERYWHERE. I’ve always known I’ll get it eventually and it’s definitely time. Covid is stopping me tho :(
Covid will pass or at least we all hope it does. We have been lucky and been able to reopen.
You’ve been piercing since I was born! Big ups dawg!
Yes, it has been a long journey but I've greatly enjoyed it.
I had no idea I could hide this piercing. That’s one of the reasons why I wouldn’t get it. Now I’m reconsidering it.
Yes, with a Circular Barbell that has be sized to fit you, you can flip it up.
Had mine done for bout 3 maybe 4 months and I love it. It is one of my favorites
Thank you for sharing your experience and watching.
Thank you for sharing your experience.
You got pierced without consent?! Lucky duck
@@edenevermore consent from who, my parents? It wasn't required because I was sixteen then.
Keep in mind that this channel has viewers worldwide and the age of consent is different throughout the world.
Same with me, I just got my nostril done instead after they told me my sweet spot was too hit or miss to do accurately.
@Znyvi omg how are your cartilage now? I got my cartilage pierced too! The piercer said it was my sweet spot, but I saw it from the mirror, that's my cartilage. And I let it because it's not too low.. I wanna know how's your healing process now?
@@ririmemories18 cartilage is fine, mines been there for over 20 years.
The very first 3 seconds had me hooked, you got yourself a new subscriber \m/

It’ll be a week since I had it pierced tomorrow! The healings go good I’d say!
Congratulations and here's hoping that it continues to heal smoothly.
this video was SO helpful! GET IT!!!! :)

I've got a left nostril piercing and a septum both done in a week, the septum today and I love them so so much 🥰

I love your content! Today I got my septum redone for the 3rd time and I was very surprised that it hurt a lot less than my nostril (which was done only a few mins prior), just speaks to the forgiving nature of the septum itself
Congratulations on your new piercing!!! Let's hope the third time is the charm. Thank you for sharing your experience and watching.
Could I still get a septum or would you advise against it?
thank you for this! this video contained a bunch of info that others didn’t 👍

Can you flip up the piercing during the healing period or is that a bad idea
You can but I suggest limiting it. Flip up at the beginning of the work week and then flip down at the end of it.
my septum is actually stretched to 4g and i love it !! it was the easiest and fastest healer compared to my other piercings and it’s definitely my favorite one :) the only con i have is when it’s cold out the jewelry also gets rlly cold and makes my nose runny, other than that it’s an amazing piercing !

Body Piercing & Tattooing will do :) and thank you
Body Piercing & Tattooing just wondering could I turn the piercing to hide it while it’s healing and a day after as I can’t have it for school
Body Piercing & Tattooing hey I got it done and I love it!
Got my septum done and she told me I could flip in within 24 hours and not to clean it. Didn’t feel right so I cleaned it and I’m not gonna flip it
I usually suggest cleaning the night afterwards or the next morning. As far as flipping I would hold off for a day or two. If you need it up for work, I usually suggest that you let me flip it up and leave it up until the next day off.
Love your videos thank you so much! Getting septum tomorrow
You are welcome and thank you for watching. How did your piercing turn out?
Another con, occasionally you're gonna be like ew what's that smell? It's your nose ring.
For some reason that only seems to be the case with a minority of those with septum piercing. Usually cleaning the jewelry and piercing avoids this.
I often have colds. How does this piercing react to blowing your nose often throughout day even during the healing time.
I am getting my septum pierced in a few months and this video helped a lot thank you ❤️❤️
THANK YOU, top notch information
You are welcome and thank you for watching.
No way, Des Moines?? I’ll have to come see you.
Please come by and visit. We are on the southwest corner of 38th and Douglas.
I just got mine last week. My students LOVE it even though my mom LOATHES it. I myself think I’m super effin cute !!!
Congratulations on your new piercing, thank you for sharing and here hoping you have a quick and easy heal.

i'm getting mine done the week of my birthday, in about 7 days which is before my birthday.
See it isn't as much the pain as much the wearing. One short and the other lasts a lifetime.
How was it
Very informative video! 👍🏾
Thank you and thank you for watching.
I want a septum piercing but I've had two surgeries to correct my severely deviated septum including a full on nose job 😅 my septum is still slightly crooked but nowhere near as bad as it was before. Am i completely screwed?
If there is anatomy to support and place the piercing correct it should be fine. It's hard to say without seeing it first hand.
I've got my septum, my bridge and snakebites done and I'll say that the septum was by far the easiest one to heal. The only thing that REALLY sucks about it is if you get sick, and you get a runny nose, you're in for one hell of a time blowing your nose. Especially if it's still in the healing process.
Thank you for sharing your experience and watching.

That is extremely cheap and usually a sign of cheap low end jewelry and unskilled piercers.
i have a septum piercing & its been 15 months, my mom whom i live with, still doesnt know about it.
And that is why I consider the septum piercing the easiest piercing to hide.
11:16 - while getting mine done, the piercer told me that i have quite a high septum so they suggested i change it to a ring once it had healed (which was my plan anyway) but yeah during the healing process my septum often just looked like two silver balls because most of the barbell was in my nose
Yes, it all comes down to anatomy. It's possible to do it with larger circular barbells but often the just get knock around more during the healing.
I can comfortably flip my septum up and down and its only been a week, will i be able to change my jewlery earlier than the given time? (6 weeks)
I kept mine flipped up for the first bit because of work.
The size should fit the face. Of course, if you are going more for that aggressive look then go big.
my septum is my favourite piercing and was also my least painful piercing (including my earlobes).
Thank you for sharing your experience and watching.
I think it's often hard for family to realize you aren't doing it to them. It's simply for yourself
You're welcome and thank you for watching. Good luck if you end up getting a Septum Piercing and let us know how it turns out.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing I will! I’m getting it in a couple of weeks.
So many choices! Ugh! I really can’t decide where I wanna get pierced on my face😅
I would suggest starting with the one feature on your face that you like the most. A piercing if done right can draw attention to the area and enhance it.
Body Piercing & Tattooing thank you 🤗
Could you turn the jewelry up in your nose while it is still healing, or will that damage it?
Also, could you do a video on how to properly close a piercing? My monroe didn't work out and I want to make sure I'm healing it correctly.
Yes, but I only suggest doing after a soak or compress and only a few times a week. If it's for work, fljp it up at the beginning of the week and then flip it down at the end of the week.
Are you asking for a video on abandoning a piercing, closing jewelry or on how to know when it's healed.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing Thank you!!
It's for abandoning a piercing. Thank you again!
I'll put it on the list. The problem is I don't think I have any photos of abandoned piercings.
It should make that much of a difference. Though it is always best to do it during the season where you allergies are less active.
Im having it done tomorrow. I a bit scared if im honest
How did it turn out?
is the no swimming rule just for the healing process or as long as you have the piercing?
Just while the piercing is healing. After it is heal, swimming will not cause any problems.
So...I'm no piercer but I've wanted a septum for so long that I've done so much research and some sites say that putting in a hoop-like piece of jewelry isn't good for any new piercing, is that true in any way?
No, there are a number of piercings that work better with stud style jewelry. However there are still a few that need rings from the start.
how long does it have to be in before you can safely remove it for a couple of hours?
It might be OK 2-3 years into the healing and understanding any time you leave a piercing empty it can close.
I wanna get mine done, but I know a lot of people who said they got theirs pierced wrong and not in the “sweet spot” causing really bad pain and horrible healing process. How do I avoid that
The first step is find a skilled piercer. Everyone's anatomy is different and it all comes down to the piercer reading your anatomy.
I have a quick question...on the right side of my septum, theres a lil bump on it....how do i take care of it?
See your piercer. The first thing is to figure out what is. Then what's causing it. If you don't remove the cause, no matter what you do, it will keep coming back.
I just got my septum piercing done yesterday and I have noticed that when I do a certain facial expression or move the piercing to clean, I start to sneeze. Like right after touching it (obviously with clean sanitized hands) I experience a pinch on one nostril and *sneeze*. Why tho?
I just got my septum pierced 3 days ago and the piercer said I had a really short sweet spot and that it was more than likely going to go through the cartilage. I still said I wanted to do it because you said
It isn’t incorrect but takes longer to heal.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing okay thank you !
You are welcome and thank you for watching.
ive had mine for about 10 years now.
No spinning, picking or qtips.
my septum is my favorite piercing so far and healed easier than my lobes asflhjsdk
Thank you for sharing your experience and watching.
Hi Davo, just wondered if it was possible to have no sweet-spot or to have a sweet-spot so small that you are unable to get the piercing?
Usually the piercing will expand the sweet spot but it can make it difficult to find.
Would it be okay if I flip a healing septum in the morning and flip it back up after noon? My University doesnt care but id rather not have it displayed in school but dont mind outside.
Ideally you would heal the piercing before flipping the piercing at all. Movement of the piercing during healing
However due to work, education and social situations that isn't always an option. So the next best option is to flip the jewelry at the beginning of the week and then flipping it down at the end of the week. Always do the flipping after a compress or soak.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing omg i didnt think you would reply so fast! Thank you so much for thr advice! :D
I had mines done two weeks now and it stings/burns like hell, but only on one side (left side) of my nostril.
Is this when the jewelry is moved? If so you may not be getting all the discharge aka crusties off. Try using more of the saline and don't move or play with the piercing.
Would you say people who have allergies and are prone to sneezing and runny noses , to not get this piercing ?
I have really bad allergies in the spring and summer and have constant runny noses, should I still get this piercing? I would wait to get it in the colder months when my allergies aren't as bad but will the constant blowing my nose be a problem after it's healed?
Though the jewelry might get a little messy during allergy season, you should have no issue with the piercing. Yes, I would suggest getting pierced during the colder months.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing sounds good, thank you for your time!
@@stephaniestuffer1688 you are welcome.
I wouldn't advise it. The only sure way to avoid infection is staying out of the water until it heals.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing Okay, thank you for helping me out :D!
Body Piercing & Tattooing okay, thank you so much for responding!
You are welcome and thank you for watching.
I’ve had my septum pierced for a week now and I tend to clean it about 4-5 times a day. Is that too much? Does it affect it by cleaning it too much?
You only need to clean with sterile saline spray twice daily. I no longer suggest soap unless the area has been contaminated.
I was told I can not get mine pierced because I have a deviated septum.
Just use saline. Unless you have contaminated the area there is no reason to use an antiseptic.
