Why would he have pictures of the stupidest piercings anyone could ever try? That would be counter to his point that these should never be done. I know it's an old comment but I just had to say.
You have to understand that many of these photos are taken moments after the piercing is done. Which doesn't reflect on whether or not they healed and what life was like with them.
Corset piercings freak me out. Yeah, they look cool in the pictures.. but I always imagine a toddler grabbing and pulling and... l;fkjl;dkjfa;ldkfj hahaha
I considered snake eyes eight years ago when I had my tongue pierced and the piercer refused. I got a traditional tongue ring and I absolutely love it. You're spot on and I sure appreciate a service provider who is candid and has the best interest of the client and their profession at heart
Of course everyone is different but my Ashley has been very unproblematic after the initial swelling period. I don't bite it and it doesn't hit my teeth or gums.
Like I often say, it's not everyone. A lot of it is shock value but part of it is self expression. Too often though there really isn't much thought put into safety or any responsibility put towards influencing others.
The last time I had someone bug me about a hand webbing piercing, I told them to wear some white cotton gloves for couple of hours. He said they were brown with in 20 minutes.
You forgot number 11: eyeLID piercing. I'm all about self expression and it being the person's body to do whatever they want, but some people are...kinda dumb. I've seen pictures of super gauging cheeks, noses, tongues. I've seen people splitting their tongues (shiver), or splitting their junk. People tattooing their eyeballs. As I said, do what they want to do to their own bodies, but eek. I wouldn't mind a dermal one day maybe. But as for hands...I have nails and get them caught sometimes, even my regular no diamond wedding ring gets caught on things, never mind a piercing or dermal in my hand or fingers. I try to stick with something I don't have to worry too much about snagging and ripping out. Or something that people can see more than just me or just my husband. Plus, 11 tattoos, 10 piercings (including my three each ear old fashioned gun used Claire's piercings) and giving birth naturally, you'd think I barely felt any pain or had a super duper high tolerance for pain. Nope, I am a complete whimp and each and every hole or color on my body or lower trauma, hurt like a bitch. Just some hurt more than others, but no pain was below a 5 of 10 and the highest OMGITHURTS was 30/10.
Yeah I forgot about the Eyelid one. It comes down to education. If you want to alter yourself, fine just do it in a safe manner and know the risks. However, when you go into the public eye and don't bother to educate people about the risks while promoting your extremely dangerous modification, you are putting others in harm's way.
@@BlasianPrincess Yeah, for sure. Your eyesight is your most precious gift, so why would anyone want to mess it up intentionally? I've seen pictures of eyelid piercings, and they totally creeped me out. (Jan Griffiths).
I had an Ashley done and couldn't handle it. My piercer and I wanted to see how my body handled it for future knowledge, and I wasn't charged for it. I didn't handle it well and ended up taking it out and we learned alot from it.
Mine was good healed well. However it migrated very quickly add in a 6 month old trying to tugg it out it was quickly removed by me and I'm looking into getting a general labret done
I got mine Dec 2019... And now we've been wearing masks for two years. 😞 Outside of that, zero pain, like I was talking normally that moment and kept popping my lips cause I felt cheated to have no pain. Mine is at two years and have never had an issue.
About the dahlias, well, yes there are problems, my body IN PARTICULAR has managed to heal them very well, I have had them for 2 years and they are perfectly fine. Great video!
It always comes down to anatomy and the body's tolerance for them. I hapoy to hear yours have worked out and I hope you get to enjoy them for as long as you wish. Thank you for watching.
I've been piercing for around 4 years and there's a few I've added to my dumb piercing list. It's very refreshing to watch this vid and know that there's this kind of vid out there for people to find when doing their research.
Yeah, I don't think I've added a new one in a while but one thing I learned right off is, that often it is better to refuse to do a piercing that you know isn't going to work than to do it. Glad to help and thank you for watching.
There are too many piercers wholl do ANY piercings you ask, even those that don't make sense and are extremely harmful to the organism. And people have too little information about proper piercings. Thank you for sharing your immense experience with us!
It's always a struggle. Refusing piercings cost you income. A lot of piercers are in situations where they either lack the courage to say no, maybe working in a studio where they aren't allowed to say no, or their ego is so big they think they can do anything. The thing is that is only takes a few minutes to educate a client on risks of getting the piercing. Many skip it out if laziness but a lot do because they really do want to take the chance that the client will change their mind. Personally I've been in a situation where I have always had the right to refuse to do a piercing and was able to always give my clients a consultation. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for watching.
Just wanna share a horror story of mine! I went into a piercing shop I had gone to...like 5 times before and never had any problems, but the day I went for an under the tongue web piercing they had a new piercer and did not inform me that she was basically a fucking student and was soooo fucking new to piercing she couldn't distinguish between whether I had a web under my tongue or not....I did-fucking-not! But she pierced under my tounge without any hesitation(there are soooo many veins in/under the tongue that this was a pretty serious thing),...straight up the underside of my tongue. I was screamed for her to stop because something felt off, while she had the needle in my tongue she was touching her gloved hand on her sweaty face, and everytime she went to grab the jewelry she would pull the needle...as well as my tongue. By the time she got the whole process done it was literally 40 minutes later. And yes I was screaming for her to stop the entire time. I went home and went straight to bed because I felt so poorly. Less than 6 hours later I was in the ER and they were talking to me about the fact that I might need a tracheostomy(where they cut a hole in your neck to breathe!), my mouth had become so infected so quickly that it was closing up my throat. Luckily they were able to remove it before that was needed...with no pain meds at all....because that would have been another fluid closing up my throat. PICK YOUR PIERCERS WITH EXTREME PREJUDICE!👌 If you live in Massachusetts, AVOID Afterlife in Springfield...because you might just fucking die. I've also had one finger dermal, and one barbell finger piercing...key word HAD, don't do 'em. They both rejected. The dermal had to be removed by a doctor and left a hideous scar, and they both felt like they rubbed against my bones and got caught on everything from shirts to blankets, 10/10 never recommend😅
First off, I'm sorry to hear you went through that. Sounds like the piercer should have passed on doing the piercing or waited until they could be observed by a more experienced piercer. They should have stopped when you told them. Yes, do your research and know the risks. Thank you for watching and sharing your experience.
This video made me laugh quite a bit, I have to admit! I've been binge-watching your series for a few days now preparing myself for any future piercing ideas I may have. Also - fun fact: The Dahlia-Piercing is named after a murder case where the murderer cut the victim in half and then proceeded to carve a grisly grin into her cheeks by elongating her mouth in the corners. The pictures are horrible (it's the Black Dahlia case, for anyone wondering and not being familiar with this.)
I laughed really hard. Thank you for this video. I actually have had an "Ashley"/inverse vertical labret for about six years now, and it healed up fairly easily (with no visible tooth or gum issues), but I've never met anyone else with an old one. I'm also embarrassed to admit that I got a Dahlia at one point. My piercer gave me a full rundown of the risks and only agreed because I've healed many different piercings from that studio over the years. "This is a stupid f*cking idea, but you're a good client so I'll give you a fighting chance." It was placed as well as could be and healing fine /except/ there was just no way to avoid gum contact. I noticed erosion, called in, and ended up taking it out. Too bad for me, lol.
Like I often have to explain to clients, there might be one person out there with the prefect anatomy to heal the piercing. Also there are a few that piercing never seem to reject or migrate. However, chances are you aren't that person and unless I've done a large number of piercings on you and know how you heal, I won't even consider it.
I'm glad you talked about finger webbing piercing, I've seen it on Instagram more often lately and I always wondered how the hell does anyone heal that? Meaning you'd have to stop touching anything or have anything touch your hands for months, just HOW!?
I stumbled on your channel and it became the best rabbit hole I’ve ever binge watched lol 😊. You’re super informative and knowledgeable so I couldn’t help but subscribe.
I had a venom piercing in my tongue about 4 years ago. Other than hurting like hell it healed very well. I had no idea it was dangerous or i wouldnt of got it done. Recently trained in piercing and really enjoying your videos!
I appreciate the knowledge that you shared. I was very seriously intent on doing my own vertical tragus because none of the shop in town would do it for me. Three different piercing artist each gave me the same identical description of why they would not. High level of rejection. Long story short .. . I realized how badly I wanted this piercing meant not being cheap. Did my homework like you suggested Dave and opted for 2 dermals done by a piercer 45 miles away from my hometown. She was great. Dermals are beautiful. Irritating, lol, but beauty is pain!
Dermals have their own issues but are a much better option than a surface to surface piercing. In fact, micro dermals came about as a solution to the issues with surface to surface piercings. Congratulations on your new piercings and thank you for watching.
Whilst trying to research about dahlias I remembered your channel and I'm so glad I thought to look here. I've had my cheeks for a long time and hate how much my right one leaks. I've wanted to switch to dahlias for a long time but now I know that won't be any better more than likely. Lot's to think about now! Hopefully I can find some bindi/3rd eye piercing discussion somewhere too! Your channel is criminally underrated. Most post a 2-5 minute video talking about nothing new. Genuinely grateful and much kudos for how detailed/informative these videos are. Anywho apologies for the novel long comment. Think I have my binge watching for the week set for me now. 😅
Glad to help and thank you for watching. Thank you for your kind words. My goal from the start was creating a detailed reference videos for clients and those that share my passion for piercing. We saw a slowing down for growth since youtube pushed shorts to compete with tiktok. Lately I have noticed the algorithm sifting back to content value. BTW sorry to hear about the leakage. Hopefully when or if you decide to abandon the piercing, it stops.
@BodyPiercingTattooing That's a great goal that was needed in this world and you're definitely achieving it. I understand why apps compete, but I hate it. It negatively effects so many creators. Dang algorithm is a pain. I'll definitely be watching and sending people this way. I wanted to pierce for so much of my life and while it might not be realistic for me I'm absolutely loving how much I'm learning here. So you're very welcome!! I really hope so too, thank you!
I love you videos because its very informative. I've watched your videos and learned many things from anatomy, tips and advices. You deserve more subscribers! Just a suggestion, please add some pictures of things you're describing. But overall your videos are great. Thanks 😊
I'm glad to hear that you are finding the videos informative. Yeah, I've been trying to add photos when they are relevant. The problem is that I often forget to take photos. It's not like I don't have two cameras and a phone. Also I always feel a little weird about using other people's images. Any thank you for the suggestion and for watching.
My last piercing was a rhino piercing I’m pleased to say it’s healed well no rejection. But I’ve always wanted a surface tragus piercing but very glad to see your video I’ve decided to not do it . I’m in London uk I love your videos. I’m very heavily pierced but like you I believe in getting one done at a time and research first too many piercings new ones in close proximity can cause rejection for me I do everything slowly. One thing I have learned is everyone heals at different speeds but not playing with the piercing will avoid infection and help healing process faster . Thanks from across the pond ❤️💕
Well this whole time I thought venom bites were a normal, safe piercing. Thank you for steering me clear. But I would like to know, would double vertical tongue piercings be a safer alternative (one in the normal location and the second one typically further back)?
See here's the thing the name is used for two side vertical tongue piercings. Though there is a slightly higher risk because the jewelry will be closer to gums, teeth and bones. The main issue is you have to have the space and correct anatomy. Now a surface style venon is a completely different piercing and I wouldn't advise it.
Love your videos, I also love how you get back to almost EVERYONE! Especially people with question. Love this informative attitude you really love your trade I can tell!
Thank you and yes I try to answer as many comments as I can. I have always believed that sharing knowledge was a large part of piercing and glad to see it's reflecting here. Thank you for watching.
I have a two and a half year old Ashley that has never caused me any pain and hasn't migrated. I do worry about my teeth from time to time but my dentist was glowing on how well it was placed. She wanted to know where I got it. It's my very favorite piercing and my piercer has been in the biz for 23 years. Mine measured everything with a caliper and adjusted the jewelry as the swelling went down. My exact measurements are kept on record at the stop - it is a very high end shop (Deep Roots, Seattle) but it is worth it. Good piercers make a huge difference. All in all, I'm glad I didn't watch this video first cause I respect your professional recommendations too much and I wouldn't've got this if I saw this. Thank you for this video.
I'm happy that you had a good experience and the piercing has worked with your anatomy. When I approach these piercings too often I see the worse cases of them. Done at bad angles, jewelry that doesn't sit correctly or is clicking against the teeth. The key is knowing these things can happen going in and making the decision to find the experienced piercer and limiting problems.
I'm also really sad about the Dahlia piercings. The only thing that really turns me off is the saliva ducts. I like the look of the Chelsea scars so that would be a win for me if I did reject that way, but the saliva ducts I just can't handle it
You remind me of a cross between Penn Gilette and Jim Row. I appreciate your professional expertise, as well as your delivery style. My left tragus and my right helix lobe self-piercing are as edgy as I'll ever get.
I was told in 1990s not to have a hand web piecing, mainly due to hygiene reasons. He said no matter how much you clean .you will get infection. Or it won't heal. So im glad I didnt have it done. Also was going to have a third eye, now watching your video, its not happening ! Thanks for the info. Great channel.
I was casually watching a bunch of your videos and you mentioned "Dahlia pierings!" which I have and just verbally went "oh uh." Luckily mine seem to have healed up just fine, fingers crossed they don't migrate some time in the future.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing No, I've never had that issue but there was an excessive amount of swelling & lymph when I first got then pierced in comparison to any other piercings I have. (Tongue, bellybutton, septum & I use to have a vertical labret.)
Yeah see I've had clients that had no issue with that and others that leaked endlessly. It a complete flip of the coin and I have to say you are one of the lucky ones.
I got venom piercings ten years ago. First studio turned me down, so I went to a second one and they did it. Looking back maybe it wasn't the best idea, even if I got no problems. I still wear it today and it looks neat. I also have an anti-eyebrow, but at a very reputable studio. It's been 5 years and it still looks pretty good ! But I was aware it was a surface piercing and went with the mindset that it was temporary.
Consider yourself lucky. You have the tolerance for surface to surface piercings. Also I'm guessing a piercer with experience in surface to surface piercings and had the correct jewelry. You don't even want to know the number of these I've came across that were done with a curved barbell and hanging on by a thread.
I have considered some of the piercings on the list in the past (Snake eyes, corset, etc.) and one I still want to get is surface tragus. I do have a single joker piercing but it was pierced through the surface rather than the way you mentioned and it healed pretty okay.
I'm guessing you have a micro dermal. Which is a great deal less risky, though they have their own issues. I really suggest that you research the surface tragus and the piercer you pick to do it. Understand that it's like cramps the odds are not in your favor. Be prepared for rejection and remove the jewelry as soon as there is any signs of rejection.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing Not microdermal. I had it done four years ago with a curved barbell which I recently learned is not ideal for surface piercings (which is probably why I don't have the best experience when it comes to them). What's even scarier is that it's experimental in a sense that at the time joker bites weren't very common and it was the first time my piercer did something like that. Thanks for the tip. I'll give it some thought since I don't really plan on getting it till around the holidays.
@@simonenyota5382 yeah it sounds like they really didn't have a clear understanding of what to do. I think it is safe to say that it may have been the first surface to surface piercing. They should have talk to you about rejection. I've never been a fan of experimenting on paying clients. If you would have came and asked me to do them, I would have made you jump through hoops for a couple of weeks before I would hace even considered talking about doing. Even then I would refuse to do it. Good luck with the surface tragus, let us know how it turns out.
I have noticed (thanks to my pointless binge watching) that most piercers don't mention in their videos how problematic Ashley piercings can be, because it's trendy and they don't want to upset people who want it or have it done.
See that is the struggle that every piercer goes through. Be honest and straightforward about risks or make a lot of money. Personally, I'm unwilling to do this piercing and many others that I know have a bad track record because the money isn't worth the fallout from the issues and the hassle of dealing with the issues. Also, I don't think it's as popular as the internet makes it out to be. I get maybe a request every two months. That could be my location but I don't really see this piercing become that popular.
The Earl or as it's better know now as the Bridge, is one of those piercings that is on the fence of being included. However, it has more to do with the anatomy and your tolerance for piercings.
I love my tongue piercings. I had the venoms done twice now I changed it and got the snake eyes. Its easier to have at my job. No one notices it unless they look directly at my mouth. Plus it never changed the way I talked at all.
I haven't considered them either. They just seem to not make any sense. I did have a tongue piercing once, but did end up retiring it before it could do any damage. That was the most "out there" piercing I had. I remember when my inverse navel piercing was considered weird. It's a normal thing now, and I've had it for 41 years. (Jan Griffiths, on hubby's account).
I'd never heard of mandible piercings, and now I think I'm going to have nightmares. The idea of boring needles down through the floor of my mouth makes me so uncomfortable!
When you say surface piercing I’m not sure if you mean a dermal or not? But I have a dermal and it was done correctly. 100% I have the little foot, it’s flat, has two holes in it for the skin to grow around I keep it clean, it’s just the stud with the foot, they made a pocket in my face with a piercing needle and poped it in. I bruised bad, but I have not had a single issue. It’s been a year. And I never really snag it or catch it. But a tattoo artist I know has two of the same dermals in the same spot on his face as me below the corner of the eye top of cheek bone. And he’s had his 11 years no issue ever! I always recommend this one lol
Dang I must have dumb ideas because I actually wanted 5 of the piercings on this list. Dahlia/ or dimple piercing, Ashley, smileys, corset, and the Anti-eyebrow piercings. I really like how all of them look, especially the dahlia piercing.
You can always still get them, all any ethical piercer wants you to do is make an educated decision about the risks involved. If you feel that the risks are worth getting the piercing, go for it. Otherwise, pick a piercing that is well established with minimal risks.
He doesn't just care about the money I like that. I have a question I just did my tounge 4 days ago and now I'm feeling the end of my tounge strange and my lower lip feels strange as well is this common
The mandible one at the bottom of the mouth and jaw is shocking and disgusting! Could just imagine somebody drooling from their neck/under their chin. If they survive the piercing in the first place. That's just pure insanity! The idea of piercing any part of the hand is very stupid. What part of our bodies move more? What part of our bodies are more important? Our hands are what make us human. Respect the hand! This is was a pretty a shocking list. Some people don't have any common sense.
I know this is an oldish video now, but I'm actually really surprised about surface tragus piercings! It seems like a pretty okay place for a surface piercing, maybe I'm an anomaly but I can't move that area of my face.
There is a very limited number of people that has success with this piercing. Also if you do get this piercing done, and they don't suggest a surface to surface barbell, walk away.
I know quite a few people with a surface Tragus and none of them have had any issues with them. However, I wanted a horizontal eyebrow piercing and I know that one is notorious for rejection because of the area.
I have yet to see one in person that hasn't rejected. The number one cause being piercing with curved barbells instead of surface bars. Even in the best cases chances are that they will at some point get snagged and start rejecting. The horizontal eyebrow in likely to have even more contact and thus is more prone to rejection.
Glad to help. It is frustrating when professional piercers are unwilling to take a few minutes to explain the risks involved or flat out refuse to do it. To me it's an ethical choice. Thank you for watching and sharing your experience.
Hi, thanks for the information. I was seriously considering a horizontal eyebrow piercing until I found your video. If I’m not mistaken, do you have an eyebrow piercing? I really want one lol do you recommend it being pierced a certain way?
I have an anti eyebrow piercing, it’s been about 3 months. No problems at all so far, but my body takes piercings well. I’ve also had snake eyes that is one I would highly recommend NOT getting. It healed and I didn’t have any problems with it until one day the ball came off and it kinda slid out a little and the bar would just not go back in so I was like screw this and I will never re pierce it.
Glad to hear that your Eyebrow piercing is going well. Yeah, any tongue piercing will close quickly. I completely understand not wanting to go through it again.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing yeah I've had mine for 8 years going on 9 and has never shown signs of rejecting. Can it still reject? Also love your channel!!
The absolute WORST thing is that most piercers I've been to don't even know to warn people about at-risk or experimental piercings. Only the ones that have been around a while. You can't completely blame someone wanting to get a piercing done who wasn't warned by the person who is supposed to be a professional. I've had 16 piercings now, and luckily I haven't had any horrible experiences yet, but I still learn something from your videos every once in a while that I already should have been told. It's a shame. Please please please do your research people. No one wants to pay $50+ for a piercing that's just going to cause trauma to the area, get infected, and then migrate out in the end anyway.
To me warning someone of the risks and informing them of the commitment to healing the piercing is the ethical and professional thing to do. It only takes a few minutes and I have to say the even if they decided against the piercing 99% of the time they end up getting some other piercing. I think a lot of them are lazy or scared they are going to lose a customer. Thank you for sharing your opinion and advice. Yes, research your piercings before hand, ask questions and make an educated decision.
Hello, I have an apt to get my horizontal brow piercing with a surface bar next Friday. You talked about the anti brow and hit on the brow a little bit, but wanted your opinion on the horizontal. It’s with the owner of the studio since she’s done a few. But I watch your videos a lot and wanted to see. Thanks a lot
I will mention that I do have 6 helix rings that I’ve had for years, forward helix, 2 lobe gauges, upper lobe, and both nipple piercings. All have healed well.
Body Piercing & Tattooing he didn’t tell me anything actually. we just signed papers bc i’m only 17 and he pierced me🤷🏾♀️ i also got my rook done at the same time. luckily i know how to clean them from youtube videos and a different guy who pierced my industrial a year ago told me to do sea salt soaks.
@@bumsjae1526 well good luck. I don't have an issue with doing at risk piercings as long as you are informed of the risks beforehand. A surface to surface barbell may reduce rejection but it has to be sized correctly at the time of the piercing. So I don't know if changing it now would make a difference.
Damn, I've been really wanting my dahlias done despite thinking to myself that it was a bad idea. I think you've convinced me, though, I'm pretty certain I don't have the right anatomy and it's not really worth it to find out. Sucks, they look pretty cool. Thank you for making such an informative, and yet also entertaining video!
I think the Ashley piercing cons depend on the shape of your mouth, the way your teeth are set and weather or not you have a “tongue thrust” my bottom lip doesn’t rub against my teeth because the way my teeth and tongue are set, which in turn means my piercings don’t hit my teeth.
i've got venom bites, i think? two straight barbells in my tongue! i use the "m&m" shaped end pieces on both top and bottom, and i've found them to be much more comfortable. i got them done at the same time, barely felt 'em, and didn't bleed at all. guess i got the all the luck when it comes to vein placement! haha.
my piercer is incompetent he didn't screw the ball on tight enough on my left snakebite and the ball unscrewed itself completely and is still stuck in my lip
Sometimes they fall off, even with the best piercers. It's why I always make a point to tell the client to check the tightness of the balls. Usually if it happens within the first week, I will replace the ball or re-pierce for free. After that, you need to check them. The movement of the piercing, contact with clothing, bedding, handling, etc... Will cause the ball to loosen.
Same bad idea with different names. Though some horizontal tongue piercings are done further back while snake eyes are always on the tip. Just in case you didn't already know, I advise against both.
I agree with all these except the finger piercing- i did mine myself 10 yrs ago and took care of it n it was fine- at work i wore gauze wrap around that part when i was unloading trucks- i never had any issues. I feel like if ur diligent its fine. Buuttt if youe not ocd like me then prolly not gonna work. It did heal tho and pretty quickly surprisingly and i loved it
I actually own two of these piercings: the vertical tragus/sideburn. It was done with a surface bar and a piercer with great skills. Today it is 3,5 years old and it healed perfectly. I actually get loads of compliments on it by piercers because I am the ‘lucky’ one. The seconde one is the vemon piercing/two off centre tongue piercings. Again by a great piercer. He informed me really well and made sure it was possible otherwise he wasn’t going to do it. Today they are 2 years old and healed nicely. Just because mine did turn out well, does NOT mean it will for everybody. First of all: you need a réally good piercer with the right jewerly, skills and knowledge of what he is doing. You need to take care of it like it’s your baby and just be lucky I guess.
I believe it was in there it's been a while since I made this video. Since we produce about 4 or 5 videos a week and operate a studio. So though I would love to put time stamps on every video, I really don't have the time at this point. Maybe in the future, you are not the first to request it.
Is it physically possible to get corset piercings and heal them? (without connecting them before they're healed) I wasn't planning on getting them. Just interested.
See I feel you should be able to try but you should know all the risks going in. Too often piercers fail to simple educate their clients of the risk or they themselves seem unaware the risks or simply do not care.
Not a fan. I've seen two version. The one the stretched septum and the one through the bulbous of the nose. It seems like an extremely painful long piercing and it will take a long time to heal. Low blood flow and a long tunnel to grow. Sounds like a nightmare to deal with. Plus, they don't really fit into the body or enhance the nose.
Or a septril? I have a friend who has one, and she's had it for a few years now, and had no trouble healing it. She needs help to change the jewelry though. I wouldn't have one for myself. (Jan Griffiths).
Hello, I've been considering getting a labret piercing and have a couple of questions based off of this video. In my understanding the more recent and trendy version is the Ashley piercing where one end is inside the lower lip. The more traditional one is where you'll see both ends on the outside of the mouth, which seems to be the safer option and in my opinion, prettier. Would you say both types are risky or dumb, or is one typically safer or more common? Also while avoiding chapstick, is it more likely especially in the colder months that chapped lips could lead to tearing around the piercing?
I do not suggest getting the Ashley done and have refused to do it a number of times. Also it isn't as popular as the fashion sites claim it us. In fact, other than botched vertical labret piercings, it is extremely rare. Basically in my opinion, it's a mistake covered up with a new name.
You discouraged anti-eyebrow piercings. Since u made this video has there been more success or improved technique for this piercing? I was looking forward to this piercing for the future after my eyebrow piercing has healed completely.
Yeah I didn't know they called them vampire piercings. I thought it was just Gum piercings. I just have to wonder, someone woke up one day and thought, putting jewelry between my teeth and through my guns was a good idea. Then found a "piercer" willing to do it.
@brandimullins. I had a dental implant done and they used a small amount of novacaine but they literally pierced through my gum twice! I was fucking traumatized and told them at the end of it I fucking hated them lolol it didn't hurt but I felt everythinggggggg and it was absolutely disgusting.
So I pierced my dimple myself (yes I know it was very dumb but I wasn’t right in the head at the time) but when it healed I wondered why it was so sore I didn’t know that there were muscle groupings there and now I feel stupid for a multitude of reasons
Body Piercing & Tattooing no I took it out because the piercing never actually went all the way through it was like a dermal cause I pierced it with and earring
DaVo, dude you are so FUNNY! I laughed while watching this particular video of yours! Personally, I only advocate for piercing ears-----not other body parts. So there isn't any chance that I would get ANY of the WEIRD piercings that you mentioned. I suspect that some people only get those piercings done because they wanna be DIFFERENT somehow. But just like with anything else, I believe that piercings can be taken TOO FAR! What will your next piercing video be about? I can hardly WAIT to watch it!!
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Whenever anyone asks me, when is too many piercings, I compare it to personal development. You will know when it's time to stop. With more extreme piercings. Some are motivated by a personal creativity and desire to modify one's self. It can be very person. Too often though many are motivated by the latest, greatest and rarest. Many of these fall in the latter. Then are shared on social media and to a degree tend. The biggest problem is there are always a large supply of piercers put there that are willing to gamble with people health, well being and body fir a quick buck or the prestige. Not sure what the next body piercing Basics will be. Sometimes I have topics planned out months in advance and other times, something triggers them or the topic is suggested. We have settled into this schedule, Thursday body piercing Basics, Friday the studio Update, Saturday pros and cons by a piercer(I'm still working my way through all the piercings), Sunday Q&A in the Kitchen first video then podcast and the Mondays euth pros and cons by a tattoo artist or tattoo 101. In the studio updates I cover the last week's content and the upcoming content while making a general ass of myself.
My eyebrow rejected- I now have a scar and no hair growing where it was. Can only imagine how bad a surface piercing could go. Also, the amount of times I catch my glasses on my nose piercing, can just imagine how much worse catching a piercing you have on your hand would be- at least with the jewellery I have in my nose, if it gets caught, it just slides out, a dermal in your finger could rip out 🤦🏼
I got my nostril pierced a couple months ago, and I found that buying hooks specifically made to hold up glasses really help the nose ring from getting bumped. The hooks loop around the back of your ears, and are barely noticeable. Hope this helped (:
I want to get a rook, eyebrow and nose done but it will cost over £100 to get all of them My ears lobes took like 2-3 years to heal before I could take them out without them closing after 3 weeks So I'm assuming my other piercings will take the same amount of time.
Any piercing will begin to close if you remove the jewelry. It is always best to leave the jewelry in the piercing at all times. You shouldn't remove the jewelry unless you are replacing it for the first 1-4 years. Even then, removing the jewelry will cause the hole to shrink and close pretty quickly. That price seems a bit low for 3 piercings done by a skin piercer with high quality jewelry. I don't know what the market is like in, what I'm guessing is the UK but that seems really cheap. Here we could charge with basic jewelry $225.00 which at the current rate is 277 pounds.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing Blue Banna is the main piercing shop in the UK. The prices are all for titanium jewellery but it's the least reactive. Rook is 40 Nose is 40 Eyebrow is 45 They used to be cheaper but inflation happened.
Blue banana I meant The UK is not cheap for people who live here. Everybody is struggling to pay bills, feed themselves and their pets. My church is becoming a becoming a warm bank for people who can't afford heating. People in UK are usually paid around or just over £12,000 per year.
Wow I had such a bad piercer at 15 I wanted Chelsea bites and he said "what's that?" And I was like okay and after that he found out I was a minor and continued to be super creepy about it and pierced it without any knowledge of what damage it could've caused me I'm glad I took them out soon after wow
I have been piercing for 29 years and have never heard of Chelsea Bites. Understand the internet tends to change the name of piercings from time to time. However, I'm guessing that you are talking about Dahlia bites and are possibly from the UK. That said there is no excuse for any piercer to make you feel that way. Regardless of your age, they should act is a professional manner.
Hi, my names Tiffany. I was wondering what your thought would be on the Dahlia piercing. So I have never rejected any piercing.. it would only do so if it got caught on something it shouldn’t lol. I have over 12 piercings and everyone of them healed pretty fast compared to most. I also take care of them even if I’ve had them over the years. It’s all about caring for your piercings, I have the U-bar back of my neck since I was 17- I’m 31. Nipples, vertical lip, snake bites, eye brow and belly, septum, my ears are at a 1/2. Dermal down by the lady parts (where you shave) I took that one out because it would get caught on my pants. I just want your perspective on this piercing. I know some rejection but like my body seems to do very well with them. Again from the care I give to them. I’ve done my research as well. On all my piercings .. and gone to professionals only. Sorry just now saw this video
I personally refuse to do them. Mainly because of the risks involved with rejection, scarring and saliva ducts leaking. It sounds like you have a good tolerance for piercings but you really have to have the prefect anatomy for Dahlia and be prepared for the risks. Seek out a piercer that has verified experience with this piercing, do you research and set up a consultation.
when he said that if you want any of these perching you need to call someone with a high level of expertise i though he meant seeking some serious mental help with a professional , then i realized he was talking about a very experienced piercer!😂
I think you should add pictures of these things so your viewers can understand better
I have been increasing the number of photos in the videos.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing it's prolly hard with RUclips's bullshit...
How about wrist dermals
Corset piercings freak me out. Yeah, they look cool in the pictures.. but I always imagine a toddler grabbing and pulling and... l;fkjl;dkjfa;ldkfj hahaha
Which is why the jewelry is remove shortly after the piercings are done.
Yeah usually the results aren't the best.
I love how educational this is about the anatomy involved
I'm glad you found it informative. Piercing for the most part is all about the anatomy and working with it to find the best results.
This guy is like the coolest dude ever, and a ton of informative stuff on piercings! Great job man
Thank you for your kind words, glad you enjoyed the video and found it informative. Also thank you for watching.
I considered snake eyes eight years ago when I had my tongue pierced and the piercer refused. I got a traditional tongue ring and I absolutely love it. You're spot on and I sure appreciate a service provider who is candid and has the best interest of the client and their profession at heart
Sounds like you found a good piercer that did the right thing. Thank you for sharing your experience.
The piercer who did my vertical labret had an Ashley piercing. I asked her about it and she said flat out "don't do it"! Its pretty but not worth it.
Yup, I'm telling you it was a poorly placed labret piercing that a piercer claimed was a new piercing. Just not a good idea.
Of course everyone is different but my Ashley has been very unproblematic after the initial swelling period. I don't bite it and it doesn't hit my teeth or gums.
I think the worst are cruxifiction piercings.
Why would you want to stick a needle straight through your hand?!
Like I often say, it's not everyone. A lot of it is shock value but part of it is self expression. Too often though there really isn't much thought put into safety or any responsibility put towards influencing others.
Whaaaat such piercings exist
Anyone who has tried nailpolish KNOWS that ur hands touch everything all the time
The last time I had someone bug me about a hand webbing piercing, I told them to wear some white cotton gloves for couple of hours.
Just some hurt more than others, but no pain was below a 5 of 10 and the highest OMGITHURTS was 30/10.
ep77 Hold on..EYE piercings??? Ew!! I've never heard of that one😳That is just stupid!💯
So which was your 30/10 piercing?
@@BodyPiercingTattooing not to mention blindness.
I had an Ashley done and couldn't handle it. My piercer and I wanted to see how my body handled it for future knowledge, and I wasn't charged for it. I didn't handle it well and ended up taking it out and we learned alot from it.
Thank you for sharing your experience and I have to say, I'm not surprised.
Mine was good healed well. However it migrated very quickly add in a 6 month old trying to tugg it out it was quickly removed by me and I'm looking into getting a general labret done
I got mine Dec 2019... And now we've been wearing masks for two years. 😞
Outside of that, zero pain, like I was talking normally that moment and kept popping my lips cause I felt cheated to have no pain.
PICK YOUR PIERCERS WITH EXTREME PREJUDICE!👌
If you live in Massachusetts, AVOID Afterlife in Springfield...because you might just fucking die.
I'm sorry to hear that, buddy
OH MY GOD?
Really trying to live up to their name huh? 😅 Hooe 2 years later everything's going well
I go to piercing emporium in Kelly square in Worcester they’re really great!
Yes I'm aware of the murder. Which is unsolved and will more than likely never be solved.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing fitting name for the piercing. It's too bad, because it seems like an attractive piercing.
Well the scars do look a lot like the smile when they reject.
Yes and even if you manage to not get an infection, it will likely reject.
I stumbled on your channel and it became the best rabbit hole I’ve ever binge watched lol 😊. You’re super informative and knowledgeable so I couldn’t help but subscribe.
I'm glad you are enjoying the videos and thank you for watching and subscribing.
DAMN I really wanted my surface tragus but I’m not even gonna risk it. I’ve been watching your videos all night, thanks for being so helpful ❤️
You're welcome and I'm glad you found the video helpful. Thank you for watching.
Thank you for sharing your experiences and I hope that the video was helpful. Thank you for watching.
I like the look of the Chelsea scars so that would be a win for me if I did reject that way, but the saliva ducts I just can't handle it
That's we want you to know before getting the piercings. Now you know the risks and can make thaw t educated choice to not get them.
Yep, your explanation on the muscle group and ducts is the sound reasoning I needed. Thank you
You remind me of a cross between Penn Gilette and Jim Row. I appreciate your professional expertise, as well as your delivery style. My left tragus and my right helix lobe self-piercing are as edgy as I'll ever get.
I'm a fan both, so I'm sure their influenced are in their somewhere. Thank you for the compliment and I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
It's all about education. I think a lot of people wouldn't get many of these piercings if they were informed completely. Thank you for watching.
I was actually wanting a Dahlia bite before this, so thanks for talking me out of it!
I was casually watching a bunch of your videos and you mentioned "Dahlia pierings!" which I have and just verbally went "oh uh." Luckily mine seem to have healed up just fine, fingers crossed they don't migrate some time in the future.
They are an at-risk piercing. Your piercer should have discussed the risks with you before doing the piercing. Do you have the saliva issues?
Thank you for sharing your experience and watching.
Currently covering my face bc I’m embarrassed to be that one in a million person who’s surface tragus healed with no issues
I was gripping my pillow waiting to hear that Earl is on the list and it's not. Great! Getting it next weekend ☺️
The Earl or as it's better know now as the Bridge, is one of those piercings that is on the fence of being included. However, it has more to do with the anatomy and your tolerance for piercings.
Wow!!!! Thanks for the information. You've listed two piercings I really was about to get. THANKS
You're welcome and I'm glad to hear you find the video helpful and informative.
I love my tongue piercings. I had the venoms done twice now I changed it and got the snake eyes. Its easier to have at my job. No one notices it unless they look directly at my mouth. Plus it never changed the way I talked at all.
Well, you are one out of 1000s of people that have had a ton of issues with snake eye piercings.
Interesting stuff! Common sense really I guess 🙃 Beautifully and humorously presented as usual 😁 thank you!
Yeah a lot of it is common sense. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for watching.
I have the surface tragus for 2 years now.. it’s fully healed and it was done with a curved barbell.. guess I’m lucky 🤷🏻♀️
Yes your body has a high tolerance for this piercing.
Got a friend that had a piercing on the top of his wrist. Yah. Right where it bends, where your sleeves end, where you wear a watch...
Sounds like some that wasn't thought out. How long did it last?
@@BodyPiercingTattooing
If I remember correctly 3 weeks. But he decided to remove it before it falls off because it was way too annoying
Thank goodness I've never considered ANY of these piercings! ✊🏽💯
Yeah it seems too often people's common sense going out the window. At the heart of it is piercers trying to make a name for themselves.
Yes I do think ego has a lot to do with it but also greed and not being able to know your limits and learn to say, "No".
(Jan Griffiths, on hubby's account).
thanks for the information its good to know the cons of most percings before getting them x
Glad to help and thank you for watching.
I'd never heard of mandible piercings, and now I think I'm going to have nightmares. The idea of boring needles down through the floor of my mouth makes me so uncomfortable!
As it should.
I love how real he is too
Is there any other way to be? Thank you for the comments and for watching.
Sometimes there is a numbing feeling that in my opinion is caused by the swelling. It will often fade within the first week.
I’m just happy I didn’t want any of these 😂
I also think that that freaky smiley one should be on this list too.
I'm not a fan either but they do usually heal though the risks and other issues. Cheeks are kind of at the same level.
love my smiley!💗
That chair makes you look like you are wearing a vampire cape. Haa haa!
I know it did and it was about 3 chairs ago, I actually picked out the replacements based on not having that pillow thing.
This video really explained why my nape piercing experience was SO crazy lol.... never again😂
Glad to help. It is frustrating when professional piercers are unwilling to take a few minutes to explain the risks involved or flat out refuse to do it. To me it's an ethical choice.
Thank you for watching and sharing your experience.
Ummm... This man is hot.
Thanks for the piercing knowledge!
You are welcome and I'm glad you found the video informative.
Hi, thanks for the information. I was seriously considering a horizontal eyebrow piercing until I found your video. If I’m not mistaken, do you have an eyebrow piercing? I really want one lol do you recommend it being pierced a certain way?
Yes, I do have my eyebrow pierced and have had it since 1995. The key is that the area is meaty and to only wear a curved barbell.
I completely understand not wanting to go through it again.
could you hypothetically do two vertical tongue piercings for the illusion of a snake eyes piercing?
Yes but with the placement so far forward us asking for damage.
I guess I'm that one in a million. 8 years with my tragus and it's been fine. I didn't even know it could reject.
So far I'm just lucky I guess
Are you saying that you have a surface tragus that has lasted 8 years? Yes, you are one of the lucky few.
So so true about the piercings and anatomy and the risk !!
Thank you for watching and commenting.
Here's the thing, it's a surface to surface piercings in an area with a lot of movement. The movement in the area the more risk of rejection.
The fact that he referenced Curley’s Vaseline glove from Of Mice and Men 😂
Right!!! I love that book :)
just got my surface tragus 2 hours ago 😂 guess we’ll have to see how this goes lol
Good luck. Was it done with a surface barbell at least?
Body Piercing & Tattooing nope 😢
Well when or if it starts to reject, remove it as soon as possible to reduce the scarring. Did your piercer advise you at all about the risks?
Body Piercing & Tattooing he didn’t tell me anything actually. we just signed papers bc i’m only 17 and he pierced me🤷🏾♀️ i also got my rook done at the same time. luckily i know how to clean them from youtube videos and a different guy who pierced my industrial a year ago told me to do sea salt soaks.
@@bumsjae1526 well good luck. I don't have an issue with doing at risk piercings as long as you are informed of the risks beforehand.
A surface to surface barbell may reduce rejection but it has to be sized correctly at the time of the piercing. So I don't know if changing it now would make a difference.
is nape included in this?
Where are the vampire piercings located? I looked it up becuse you were vauge and now im worried i have a vampire piercing.
There are two piercing done vertically through the top lip with a curved barbell. Then people where spikes on the bottom for make it look like fangs.
You talked about a few surface piercings here, what's your take on a horizontal eyebrow piercing??
Find a piercer with a lot of experience with them. Of course they are much more prone to rejection and should only be pierced with surface barbells.
@@BodyPiercingTattooingthank you for your input 🙏🏻
Damn, I've been really wanting my dahlias done despite thinking to myself that it was a bad idea. I think you've convinced me, though, I'm pretty certain I don't have the right anatomy and it's not really worth it to find out. Sucks, they look pretty cool.
Thank you for making such an informative, and yet also entertaining video!
You are welcome and I'm glad that I've helped you to avoid the scaring.
I think the Ashley piercing cons depend on the shape of your mouth, the way your teeth are set and weather or not you have a “tongue thrust” my bottom lip doesn’t rub against my teeth because the way my teeth and tongue are set, which in turn means my piercings don’t hit my teeth.
Then your lucky. It always comes down to anatomy.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing lucky for piercings but my dentist is always ragging on me to get braces 😂
i've got venom bites, i think? two straight barbells in my tongue! i use the "m&m" shaped end pieces on both top and bottom, and i've found them to be much more comfortable. i got them done at the same time, barely felt 'em, and didn't bleed at all. guess i got the all the luck when it comes to vein placement! haha.
I think you are talking about the ufo style ends. Thank you for sharing your experience and watching.
my piercer is incompetent he didn't screw the ball on tight enough on my left snakebite and the ball unscrewed itself completely and is still stuck in my lip

What’s the different between snake eye and horizontal tongue piercing ... I have picture of what tongue piercing.
It did heal tho and pretty quickly surprisingly and i loved it
Thank you for sharing your experience. I hope you understand that you are the exception. A majority of them never heal.
Do you have it to this day? If so that’s so cool
The most important part of any piercing, is finding the right piercer.
With the venoms I'm mainly talking about the horizontal surface piercing style.
“The experience of getting pierced”
I don’t enjoy this shit 🤣 But they look cute
what are your thoughts on horizontal eyebrow piercings that goes above the eyebrow?
Not a great idea. It has all the same issues as any other surface to surface piercing.
There are no time stamps and I dont wanna listen to the whole thing. Is the anti eyebrow piercing in this vid?
I believe it was in there it's been a while since I made this video. Since we produce about 4 or 5 videos a week and operate a studio. So though I would love to put time stamps on every video, I really don't have the time at this point. Maybe in the future, you are not the first to request it.
Next week was getting a trident piercing. Anything to say about a trident?
Are angel fangs ( like two jestrums far apart ) safe?
It really depends on your anatomy and the jewelry you wear in the piercings.
Is it physically possible to get corset piercings and heal them? (without connecting them before they're healed)
I wasn't planning on getting them. Just interested.
I agree with you 100%!! I think every one of these peircings are a stupid idea. I'm with you wth are people thinking?!?!
See I feel you should be able to try but you should know all the risks going in. Too often piercers fail to simple educate their clients of the risk or they themselves seem unaware the risks or simply do not care.
What do you think about rhino piercings?
"Vampire piercings"
Vampire piercings? *googles it*
AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY?!!!!!!?????!!! MY TEETH HURT JUST THINKING ABOUT IT!!!
Yeah I didn't know they called them vampire piercings. I thought it was just Gum piercings. I just have to wonder, someone woke up one day and thought, putting jewelry between my teeth and through my guns was a good idea. Then found a "piercer" willing to do it.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing ooof definitely crazy 🤪 I don't even like going to the dentist 🙅♀️
Me either. Just the thought of them poking around with that pick makes my skin crawl.
You didn't know better. Now you do. Do you still have the piercings?
Body Piercing & Tattooing no I took it out because the piercing never actually went all the way through it was like a dermal cause I pierced it with and earring
Other than enamel risks, can one wear a lippy loop in a Medusa piercing?
It's possible but you are going to find the jewelry will have more contact with teeth and gums.
My vertical tragus lasted a year. It rejected and left a pretty gnarly scar lol... I didnt think it would last but I got it anyway hoping it would
DaVo, dude you are so FUNNY!
In the studio updates I cover the last week's content and the upcoming content while making a general ass of myself.
had my hand web pierced very unprofessionally a long time ago and it got infected, I don't accept defeat, I want to do it again
My eyebrow rejected- I now have a scar and no hair growing where it was. Can only imagine how bad a surface piercing could go. Also, the amount of times I catch my glasses on my nose piercing, can just imagine how much worse catching a piercing you have on your hand would be- at least with the jewellery I have in my nose, if it gets caught, it just slides out, a dermal in your finger could rip out 🤦🏼
Sorry your Eyebrow piercing rejected. Yes, surface to surface and dermals don't like to get snagged.
I got my nostril pierced a couple months ago, and I found that buying hooks specifically made to hold up glasses really help the nose ring from getting bumped. The hooks loop around the back of your ears, and are barely noticeable. Hope this helped (:
Thank you for the tip. I will always mark the piercing with the client wearing their glasses but I understand how they can slip down.
It would be cool to see you react to some of these tik tok self piercings lol.
me: sees title
also me: thinks of finger and snake piercings
I want to get a rook, eyebrow and nose done but it will cost over £100 to get all of them
My ears lobes took like 2-3 years to heal before I could take them out without them closing after 3 weeks
So I'm assuming my other piercings will take the same amount of time.
Rook is 40
Nose is 40
Eyebrow is 45
They used to be cheaper but inflation happened.
Blue banana I meant
The UK is not cheap for people who live here.
Sorry I just seen where you explained dahlia piercing
I personally refuse to do them. Mainly because of the risks involved with rejection, scarring and saliva ducts leaking. It sounds like you have a good tolerance for piercings but you really have to have the prefect anatomy for Dahlia and be prepared for the risks. Seek out a piercer that has verified experience with this piercing, do you research and set up a consultation.
when he said that if you want any of these perching you need to call someone with a high level of expertise i though he meant seeking some serious mental help with a professional , then i realized he was talking about a very experienced piercer!😂
Yes and one that has experience with that piercing and has verifiable good results.
Ashley piercing done with dermal technique???
Migration, rejection and extremely painful.
