    Another great video guys. I lived in Colorado before moving to Querétaro and I know how serious ticks can be, we had lots of open spaces where you had to check yourselves and your pets very carefully after a hike. I had a good friend who contracted Lyme disease after a tick bite. It was a very serious condition and it caused many complications. I am so glad to hear that you took immediate action and got the situation under control.
    I look forward to all your videos. Stay safe. Hasta luego.

    First, I’m really sorry you went through this! What an immensely stressful situation! As someone who grew up in Mexico and has worked in the veterinary field since 1995, I highly recommend that you talk to your vet and get your dogs on a doxycylcine treatment asap for a few weeks in order to kill borrelia and other pathogens that ticks transmit while they are attached. This can prevent Lyme disease and other serious diseases that can develop due to tick bites.

    • @MelindasNaturals
      @MelindasNaturals 2 года назад

      Also, my own storytime……One time I went into a house in one of the villages I was visiting with my parents, and there were ticks completely covering the walls. It was horrifying. Hundreds and hundreds of ticks. The small town I lived in as a child in Mexico has so many wonderful memories for me……and some just horrible ones when it comes to ticks. 🤣 I remember a dog I was petting one time, and I thought he was part dragon……his ears were these amazing scaled, shiny ears. Turns out, that his entire ear leather on both sides was completely covered in ticks and they were layered up layered over each other……🤮

    • @WhyNotNow

      Thank you for sharing this information. 🙏 We didn't think they needed antibiotics but will reach out to the vet in the morning and see what he thinks. Hopefully, it isn't too late since this happened about 2 weeks ago. Sounds like you have had many encounters with this type of incident! So, Mexico in general seems to have an issue with ticks in your opinion? What prevention methods are used here other than what we were doing? This is helpful to those not aware; thanks again for your comment.

We were completely shocked when we dealt with this ourselves. If you feel comfortable sharing, we'd like to know, where (city/ country) this happened to your fur baby? How is your daughter doing now, and what were some the red flags (symptoms etc.) that led up to her taking a blood test to confirm Lyme disease? That is terrible; so sorry to hear about your experience, and how it affected your daughter.

      @@WhyNotNow I really enjoy your videos. I have learned several travel tips from you guys. My wife and I currently live in Mexico. Many years ago, we had a associate with a terrible case of bed bugs that were brought over by a cousin of theirs. The exterminators wanted to charge way too much. My wife discovered food grade diatomaceous earth. It killed all the bed bugs in one day. I always carry a vial of it with me on business trips just in case. It physically kills bugs, it doesn't poison them.

      @@WhyNotNow We currently live near Ensenada and enjoy it very much. Usually food grade diatomaceous earth is sold at livestock feed stores in the USA as it is mixed in with animal feed to combat parasites. You can find it online and it must be food grade not swimming pool grade. We could only find a 40 lb sack back in the day. We still haven't finished the sack and friends come by to ask for more from time to time. Online you can find expert tips on proper and safe use. The nice thing is that bugs cannot develop resistance to it.

    Hello Lovely couple. Thanks fir the video informing us about this issue; I had planned on visiting Aguascalientes but mow I am not so sure. I have a question. I watched the video and you stated that at the AirBnB the ticks sere crasling out of the couch/sofa, so you left; I would have done the same thing. Then you went to a nice hotel close to the airport and there were ticks there too? Or did I misunderstand? I was planning to stay at a hotel so it is important for me to know this. Thanks in advance for your response. If there were ticks in the hotel room, what did the hotel do or say when alerted to the problem?

    • @WhyNotNow
      @WhyNotNow  2 года назад +1

      Hi Lupita, You shouldn't let this experience deter you from visiting the beautiful city of Aguascalientes. This incident can happen anywhere Lupita, and if you read the comments section, you will see many others have dealt with similar incidents. One of our viewers even stated that a veterinarian informed her that this year in general, has been really bad with ticks (not specific to Aguascalientes). As for your question, no, the ticks weren't at the second place/ hotel but they obviously had hitched a ride on the dogs given that's how they survive (i.e.warm body) and came across that way. We thankfully were able to remedy the situation within two days (before going back home) as we stated in the video

    I m generally against using anything toxic on my self or my dogs but it’s really worth it to use the seresto collar for small dogs. Just make sure it is authentic, there are people making fake collars. It is expensive but It works for 8 months. Make sure you get them from a vet or petco. It really works!

    Ticks can live for 4 years. They only need to feed infrequently. Deer ticks are big carriers of Lyme disease and other diseases. Dog ticks were very common at my sisters in Nebraska. They are less common in dry climates. An infested room is a horror show. Pets do make things much more complicated.The nymphs are tiny and hard to see. In the NE US their hosts are mice squirrels chipmunks and deer.

    Funny you should mention ticks. We came for a visit to Oregon and brought our Pomeranian. He is also on maintenance flea and tick meds. He is always indoors except outside for quick walks and bathroom. Within 24 hours of arriving in Oregon, we found about 7 ticks on him! We took him to a vet here and they said that the tick infestation this year is the worst they had ever seen. Up here animals such as deer drop ticks off and the tick looks for it’s next warm body. So most likely they were from the park. With the Covid protocols in place, most Air BnB’s are allowing 24-48 hours in between guests to deep clean. Ticks need a warm body to survive. I was shocked and grossed out when the vet showed me a tick in alcohol which is the best way to kill one if you find one. Even kid in school here aren’t allowed on the grass at all because of the bad tick infestation this year. Glad you were able to remedy the situation. They are so disgusting!

      Wow Dina. .... thanks for sharing your personal experience, and what the vet told you as well. This will be very helpful to others who aren't aware reading the comments. Sounds like it isn't isolated to a particular region in MX, but the issue they've been seeing with ticks is in general, is being experienced throughout Mexico...

      Hi Kat, Glad you find our videos to be a resource. Our hope is that by sharing our experiences, it can help inform/ help someone. As for hubby, I do recall a comment being made several months back and it was quite frankly, rudely said. You likely saw my response to that comment as well. Our focus is bringing our viewers truthful and real life/ tangible content.

      Hi Richard, Let's chalk it up to a misunderstanding and move forward in that case.. Life is too short and we personally have no qualms about taking any responsibility on our part. We work hard to be a resource, and are genuinely transparent with our viewers; that is what is important to us. Thanks for your comment.

      Hi True Star, We don't exactly do "scripted" as our primary focus is giving truthful information. This is why our valuable viewers follow, trust and respect our channel. You may want to either start your own channel (and be prepared everyone giving their opinions/ criticism), or find a more "scripted" channel that suits your needs.
