Depends on the size of the project and the type material that's used in the project. No need to replace the needle, if you make a couple of pot holders using cotton fabric with a little batting. Yes, it may be time to change the needle after making a corduroy jacket with matching pants. Especially if you add leather patches to the elbows of the coat. Never hurts to use a new needle each time, other than the effect on your budget when using good quality needles.
