Definitely recommending this video to a few friends. A clear cut selection of steelhead candy that covers the basics and leaves a good variety of options. I know when i started, getting into it was confusing. Which baits, which presentation what colors for wbat type of water. These vids are good for beginners, great job guys!
Don’t forget sand shrimp. 🙃🎣 Love that ya always pitch Hardware partner. It’s a dying art anymore. Can fish them in mostly everything. If, ya know what size & weight your lure is. Thanks again for another killer little lesson.
Years ago when I fished upstate New York the locals told us they used walking sticks (pitchforks) we were shocked. They were having a bit of fun with us. 🎣 How about a retro session with some Hot Shot plugs? Phoebes, wiggle warts,Thomas buoyant spoons ?
Spin n glo's are pretty bitchen too, I have floated rivers in drift boats since I was 8 and have always done good side drifting then I got my drivers license and learned about plunking and God damn, I still float every chance I get but some of my best multi fish and biggest steelhead was caught on the bank plunking a straight spin n glo.
@@FishTramp both work well when I first started plunking I went with a straight spin n glo fir a long time, but as of the last couple years I've gone with the spin n glo and a little chunk of roe. Sand shrimp oil works pretty good too where in from
@@rollinstoned5472 right on man thanks. I just started plunking and have been trying the spin glow with roe. Do you use a dropper line to your weight or do u clip it straight on to the swivel?
@@FishTramp I use like a 3 or 4 inch drop line of my little slide thing but I know lots of people that clip it straight on and catch them too i think it's just preference

Another way is fishing with green glow sticks at night shines through the dark pool of water attracts attention. commonly found and purchased at dollar stores. Night fish for when the break fast rolls around. Amen.
I'd be curious to know if you guys ever fished 'wicked lures' or any other hoochie type spinner for steelhead ever.. There's some videos out there of some success with using them, but just curious if you guys have dabbled with them for steelies? Wondering if it's worth a starting line up in my casting scheme. Thanks, as always, great vids!
all my local rivers are blown out, and its blowing a gale out on the strait... may as well watch me some YT fishin' videos. Don't discount dyed prawn tails and deli shrimp for a good 'off the shelf' natural bait.
When your fishing your beads do you rig it with a little split shot on the leader? I've heard those float so i'm trying to figure out how to rig those without them floating up.
Depends on 2 factors: 1) current speed in target run of water and 2) depth of the particular run of water. The faster the flow, the more weight needed to get your bead down faster. Finding the depth is always the hard part, unless you go to a familiar honey hole where you know how deep and fast it gets with and without rain.
No problem, happy to help! It's taken me some years of playing around with weights and depths, but you kinda just get a feel for it overtime. 👍 fish on!

Honestly, red hooks were only really designed to entice the sockeye species, including their immature kokanee form, but they've just become so popular now to use for any salmon species. Personally, I don't like paying the extra dollar for a coat of paint and nothing else special, unless I'm solely fishing sockeye and then just trolling the red hooks slowly by themselves or with a small piece of tinsel tied on.
I think when they are fluttered slowly the blade presents as a falling or fleeing baitfish, not just the loud irritating presentation you get from fast moving spinners. Especially if you use a small spinner in clear water. I'm sure you guys have said that before in other videos though.

Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is "spinner water"? Fast or slow moving, clear or murky water? Thanks!

Night crawler n a power ball. On a regular pole. I've landed 3 and one snapped my line. You don't need special equipment.
Didnt think I'd be steelhead fish this year so I didn't save any of my coho eggs regretting it now lol
Red hook or no red hook and why? Personally have better success without red
Casey Wilson good question
Not necessary, haven’t seen it make a difference.
I tie red hooks on my spinners.
