No, not really…. We don’t need any self-focused marketing personalities in a sport where competence used to be earned by going fishing and making mistakes. What was once a personal experience is now an “industry”. These guys aren’t the worst but definitely a sign of the over-commercialized times…
Pressure is killing Fisheries..Normal technique barley works or doesn't at all ..shoulder to shoulder no matter where you go..I mean they do it for stocked trout .There's no where to go someone doesn't also show up or there's probably been 9 people in the run before you..Its getting ridiculous
@@inthemomentflyfishing1394 I wish we had more fishable water. Theres a bunch of dams that dont have fish ladders and it just destroys the fishing past that point
Came to steelhead fishing 2 years ago as a carp angler and I've found a standard snell with the beard on a loop formed by the tag end and back through the hook eye under the wraps gives me the best hookup ratio of anything I've tested. Been experimenting with tying the hook with a uni knot and the bead between the eye and the knot but both keep the bead right to the back of the hook but also out of the way, and if a fish gets any torque with the first method the bead will pop free
Only thing I will say for all the Midwest steelheaders out there is don't overlook an 8mm or 10mm glass bead. I have done a tremendous amount of fishing in steelhead alley and it is super pressured water which means generally speaking the more stealthy your setup is the more fish you will catch. A glass bead will sink because it is more dense than any of the bead types in this video so unless you are fishing really fast water you won't need to put any split shot on your line below your swivel and you will have the most natural presentation possible.
I really enjoy your videos and they are very helpful. It’s great to see how excited you get when you catch a fish even though I’m sure you’ve caught soooo many.
Because of you guys an elevated fishing tackle I wanna catch my first steelhead on a bead I’ve caught steelhead on a fly rod the bead fishing looks so fun
VEERRY good vid!... I prefer 40/4000s more due to a larger drag disk than line cap for steelhead. Line-cap is rarely an issue. Plus the pick-up rate is a bit quicker. I also use Okuma & Penn "bait-feeders", even on chinook. They allow a really nice continuous drift, on steelhead/coho rods, but also on chinook rods. Were I fishing for big pike/muskie, those again would be my spinning choice. Generally however, I prefer my Ambassadeur 4600/5500 C5 Mag-X's or D6 or EXT in 56/5500s but to each their own. My rods are also to 8'6""-9'6", 12#, but I have used a 14' crappie rod rated to 25#, and a 10'6" 'float' rod rated 6# with excellent results. I like soft beads & Gooey-Bobs with bead-stoppers & a bit of white/off-white yarn tied on line above the bead/gooey-bob. If I'm lake-fishing for trout my personal best is 4# on a white, a couple on black, jig-head, small red worm with the same yarn above the worm, clipped pretty close (chironomid/bloodworm) and holy-cow, works very well. On your "store", that Brad's Wiggler in green clown is amazing for trout & salmon in fresh water.
I seem to always watch your videos AFTER I get off the river! Good info for this old man trying to figure it all. The info on casting was very much appreciated as I’m a bit wild in that department so obviously an area I need to focus.
Really enjoy the addicted videos but Jordan’s are the best. I don’t steelhead fish but want to try. I grew up in the South and fishing shows came on before SEC football. Jordan and company really remind me of those guys teaching techniques and edict for being in nature. Just really need some local small engine shops and NW restaurants advertising. Plus some blooper reels because we are all human and fishing can be frustrating at times. We need to laugh more. 😊 love Lil too!!!
I just can’t Stand running a bumper line with any type of sliding float setup. I’m sure it’s great and all but if you end up needing your bobber stop a little deeper and you get to that blood knot you’re screwed and gotta re rig. And then fishing a shallow hole you end up with a ton of fluorocarbon above your float pulling you down current.
Thank you for great video and lessons. I live in EU we don’t have steel head but have perch, wall eye pike and trout in heavy current rivers, I always struggled fishing in this type of rivers, usually just fish with heavy sinkers but the snags are a pain. Will try this technique
Great and informative, as always. You said you would come back to discuss making the weight from the coil of pencil lead. Since I have about 10 pounds of this stuff I'd like to see that explained. Thanks.
Appreciate the information as always. Why do you prefer a standard clinch knot versus improved clinch knot? Any issues with slippage on larger fish resulting in loss of hook/fish?
Great video and information, just getting into river fishing, from the Midwest, moved to NorCal, probably a dumb question, knowing the motto”match the hatch” but my question on these setups is what time of year should I be throwing beads vs. Flies or grubs, jigs etc … that I think is the only information I have been missing, from what I have seen the same sliding float method can be used multiple ways ??
Hey Jordan nice to see you back on the screen I haven't watched the video in so long the only thing that I have to ask why do you have such a long leader the way and it seems like you have more than a it looks like it seems like you have three different parts of the setup to we're it's 9ft long liter instead of only a 6 ft liter. And Jordan what I'd am used to be doing is have a six 6ft an four 4ft liter put together tied to my main line so I'd would have Ten ft liter that's put together. And then my main line. An I'd use a different bobber. I'd really need something better than before so could you send a video we're I'd could see much better You's putting it together how's it done please. I'd have pore eyes now being 58 almost 59 year's of age. I'd Love ❤️ the video
I've seen other guys using 20lb 3' leaders with 1/0 hooks in dirtier water but you could go lighter and smaller in different water. I'd be worried that they get spooked by the lead in clear water.
Great video Im going to go fishing in a trout stocked reservoir and I was wondering if you could make a video showing how to get more fish in a stocked reservoir
@@OntheHook55 same way u do a beed, put a stopper on the corky so it does not slide up and down the line, same with okie drifters, that resemble an egg cluster,I also drift fish with both, corky and beads, just something different to have in your tackle box
Should make a spinner tutorial on how to fish them down in front of the steelhead so you have a more likely chance of getting one. I’m starting to get the hang of it from a bit of Jordan’s teachings and a bit of my ingenuity but would be nice to see someone who knows how to do it down to a science.
That is not how I thought it was supposed to be used? I thought it was something to put in line to do something with the weight? Oh that’s what it’s for?
Always seems you have the river to yourselves when steelheading..Thats not the case around my way..Its always shoulder to shoulder..Never is there river open with no one around ..Kinda sucks..Makes normal technique not work cause there's soooo much pressure unfortunately 🤷♂️
We need a east coast and midwest edition of addicted

Outstanding Video! Very well explained with detail. Thank you for sharing! Your setup is also excellent for center pin fishing!

Never done flies or bead fishing very cool, thanks for sharing man. I'm about to go out this morning.
What about a video on bottom bouncing beads? I see a lot of guys doing that in the Midwest.

I slowly have started to come to love beads almost as much as using real salmon egg sacs, they've definitely become a major weapon in my arsenal.

Beautiful fish 🎣! Thanks 🙏 for sharing!
I love this. Please help more with bead selection. Hard verses soft and when? Why? How to know color?
Crazy, this is the same basic tech we used in Montana in the late 80s and early 90s guiding on the Henry's fork and Madison🤙

Wish youd have shown how close you can trim thst blood knot in this video. I tie the uni but i like to learn new knots

Way we do it, we do not use a "leader" we just use a weighted slip float and a couple of split shots. Less issues with tangles
you usually want a leader with braided line
Thanks for the info
Alright you convinced me to 3d print some high temp resin molds and make some beads.
Other than that there’s nothing to it!! 😂 love the video and thanks for the in depth explanation!
What about the black light green color that glows?
Do you have any vids of fishing steelhead in Idaho?
JKSU (Jordan Knigge State University) Thank you!
Why don’t you put a swivel in there to keep it from getting tangled?
Would this still be a recommended setup in Oregon with a leader length limit of 36 inches?

Huge question, lol , I know u guys are okuma guys. But what baitcaster u guys suggest for float fishing
I got a curado 301hg and love it so far for drift fishing
I'm just trying to figure out wth goes on the hook
Should have made Marlin do the bead tutorial since he hates em
😂
That’s honestly hilarious
That’s what she said
Nice Rut Daniel shades
#wetyourknots, im out here trying! using what im learning!
What do u guys charge to fish
And can you bead fish for trout
So what is the bead: a piece of orange plastic? No scent? Nothing?
8 hours later you are ready to go fishing!
Great video Im going to go fishing in a trout stocked reservoir and I was wondering if you could make a video showing how to get more fish in a stocked reservoir
Beed fishing is pretty much the same as corky fishing in all reality
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Just don’t float as much
No bud
How do you fish a corky under a float?

We’re not using that heavy because of the size of fish. It’s for floatation, mending, wind knots etc. The heavy braid excels for float fishing.
