What little tricks or tips did I forget? Let's hear what little things you guys use to help you be successful or comfortable?
I could really use one on reading water for steelhead. It would be extremely useful to be able to look at unfamiliar water and have a good idea where the fish are likely to sit.
No mention of polarized sunglasses? But then you were not wearing any.
@@markhuff9180 good call!! Totally missed that. Polarized glasses are a must most of the time.
I should be pretty dialed after I remove the plastic casing from my rod then. You forgot lunch, Gotta bring lunch that can double the amount of time you spend at the river!!!
Like I learned again recently the hard way: don’t forget your net.
Addicted Fishing taught me how to catch my first trout and salmon and now on the hunt for steelhead! all in 5 months! Thank you, from Vancouver Island!
That is awesome!
And THAT is how you film a tutorial, ladies and gentlemen!! Well done Marlin
An HOUR of pure advice and wisdom! Hats off to you sir Mr marlin!
That is the PERFECT ending to a tutorial steelhead video! Way to go Marlin!
Appreciate it!!! Good luck fishing. 🤘🎣
The best winter steelhead tutorial I've seen. You brought steelhead, and salmon fishing into the 21st century, covered so much important stuff, and made it easily understandable. You're pretty good at this, Marlin! I hope to see more from you. Thanks and good wishes to you and yours.
Good to see Marlin doing a tutorial, think your hookup was definitely karma! So many things that seem simple but take years to pick up, always good for a refresh and to help new people out. I’ve yet to catch a winter, but for salmon if I’m keeping fish I like to have a way to carry the fish to make it more comfortable. Weather a simple rope/stringer or the ol addicted bag. Thanks for all the content and great products
I already know a lot of these things but you taught me a lot and reminded me of things I already knew.. a refresher coarse in old reliable techniques and a ton of new stuff to use… the more you know the more dangerous you can be 😅.. thanks and keep going you guys are my favorite channel
Ordered the addicted camo hoodie and got a free mag lip lure with it. I was legit blown away. Thank you love you content.
Tips from your channel taught me how to plug the boat with 14 to 20 inch rainbow trout from Washington
Great video! I’ve been fishing steelhead for 60 years and never get tired of watching fish being caught and the methods used!
Great video Marlin. Clear, concise and helpful. Waders with zipper. Yes! My take key away, Toe warmers, Brilliant! I can't tell you how many times I have been in the water and convinced I have a leaky wader. Nope, just cold toes. See you on the water.
Great video!! New subscriber.
Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
All of your Okuma recommendations are spot on. I never deal with warranty issues. I just suck it up. I broke a few GSP Okuma rods my fault, so they just sat. Then a new Okuma X rod started losing the eyelets, so I contacted Okuma. Not only did they send me a new X rod but made me a great deal to fix the other two GSP rods I broke. Best company out there. Their no hassle warranty is true. Great recommendation Addicted Fishing.
One of the most helpful videos I’ve seen yet! I especially appreciate your comments about picking up your trash.
Thanks Marlin!! One bit of gear I've added to my arsenal is a Mustang MIT 100 life jacket, in camo of course. I do a lot of solo bank river fishing and get into some "sketchy" areas. This minor bit of safety kit should be worn by all of us for many reasons. You guys can easily partner with a supplier and promote more river safety. I grew up rafting many NW rivers and have so much respect for Mother Nature, especially after flipping and wrapping rafts. Stay safe and Tight Lines!
Good call! Thanks for the added tip.
Watching addicted content while eating a trout you caught cleaned and cooked is a very good time
One of your best videos Marlin! A-Z how to get ready to go!!
🤘 Thank you!
Well , I consider myself a fisherman but that was great . I learned a lot . Thanks Marlin !
Awesome, stoked to hear that!
This video has been the most helpful. Thank you. I will bring you guys another jar
Nice to see a fish hooked on that river!
The extra cut worm is great for panfish. Great episode crew!
Get the sitka gradient pants. Theyre really comfy/warm and made for waders.
I am not a new angler by any means and have watched a ton of your videos and I love them! I have never realized how your floats have that side hole so if your tubing rips like I always seem to do for some reason the bobber does not fall off of your line! I will be ordering some of these to try out in Michigan waters. Great video and awesome second drift Marlin!
Marlin, I’ve been steelhead fishing a long time and I learned stuff here. Thank you! Great video!
That’s awesome! Thanks for watching man.
Great video Marlin! Im in California and mostly bass fish but think im going to give steelhead a try. I love that the box has everything you need to go and be successful. Thanks for the info.
If you only fish once a week, this is the stuff you need to learn to be successful if you don't have the time to put in best adx video in a longtime as far as how toos go
Thanks Marlin for sharing this with us,you did a great job explaining everything👍I was about as surprised as you were when you hooked up 🤣 too bad it got off,oh well it was still an awesome video. Ok let's go ADX 🤘
Haha the look on my face when my bobber went down.
Thank you for covering the rod balance with the reel. So many people don’t do this. I’ve been saying this for years that it’s a forgotten fact. Used to be common knowledge
Awesome video!!! Being from PA I can’t wait for the movie!!!
Great video Marlin!!!
Another great one…!!!! Thanks Marlin and Happy New Year’s to all ADX out there.
Another great vid, tons of info! I'm pretty new to steelhead fishing (I'm a musky fishing guy) so all your vids have helped me tremendously.
Loved your advice on what to wear! So important to be comfortable! A bad day wet and cold ruins it for a lot of people!!!
Awesome 🤩
Thank you 🙏
So much fun!!!!!!
Great video, thanks for all of the tips!
Thank you, Marlin, for one of the BEST videos i have watched! I will be saving this one and watching it over and over again! Great tips on clothing and fishing gear! I am addicted! Hehe
Great vid Marlin, this is why i watch you guys
You looks so warm ! I did some environmental work and I really want those zip waders now
Yoooooooooooo love that you hooked a fish!!!
Outstanding video. This stuff isn't talked about enough. Great work! (Also, that hoodie is 🔥!!! Would love it in a crew neck 😉)
What an excellent show super helpful for someone like me, who has not gone out and got a steelhead
Thank you! Good luck out there.
@@AddictedFishing thank you. Living in the Spokane area do you have any general areas you would recommend for me when I make my yearly trip to ocean shore in August?
Excellent video, thanks!
I've learned a lot from your videos. You guys are great. 👍
I’m saving this video. Awesome Job 👍🏻👍🏻
Super helpful, thanks
Nice going very entertaining it will help beginners to season fisherman
I hope so! Thanks for watching!!
Super j aimerais bien essayer cela en France 👍👍👍
Sick video bro!! Thank you. Can you provide a link to the foot and hand warmers!
Just what I needed!
Simms should sponsor you guys. If I'm honest, I've spent thousands on their shit and this channel turned me on to their products at the end of the day.
Man I love watching these videos, brings me joy!!
Glad to hear it!
Good explanations specially the river flows. Those are some of the best indicators for steel heading for me too.
Thank you! Appreciate you watching. 🤘🎣
Thank you. Very helpful. You explain it very well. Alot of work goes into it to be successful.
You're very welcome! 🤘🎣
thank you .
Great advice. I do have a question regarding water flow. You and the Addicted crew have mentioned a river being blowout. When choosing a river, what's the maximum water flow you'll fish?
Awesome.
Budget gear tip: merino wool socks at Costco are the best and the “weatherproof” brand come in a 6 pack for around 20 dollars. And Korker wader boots or nothing lol
I love It when a plan comes together. Be honest did you forget the Net cause you hadn't gotten to that Part yet that was the one piece of gear you did not cover. And have forgotten on many episode. See you soon at the Puyallup bash
Wow... I did forget the net.... Good catch!
Always bring extra dry clothes...you never know if an accident like oops, I slipped in the water and now I'm freezing 🥶, my hubby and I got stuck in snow that turned to mud and both of us had to wash the mud off in the creek. I brought extra clothes for both of us as well as towels! He was extremely happy 😁.
Good call!
This. I usually bring extra clothes but not today. And of course today is when my waders decided to spring a leak lol.
Love the awesome content! Keep it up!
This is a great video. Hooked my attention.
Use the remainder of worm for an actual ned rig for bass 🔥
Great call!
Thank you so much
No problem!
I’m surprised there was no snack menu tutorial…. Great video thank you
Next video idea! 💡
Hey Marlin,
You said buy the best waders. If I had to cut corners on my purchase, should I scrimp on the waders or on the boots?
Epic simply epic
My son and I are the ones who chatted with you while you were filming this one… I got skunked in that spot, but I guess I should have tried an addicted worm!
Good chatting with you guys. We just hooked the 1 and lost it.
@@AddictedFishing Largely thanks to you guys, I did manage to land my first steelhead last weekend (and hooked into a HUGE one that I lost)
One thing I really struggle with waders on is the fact I'm a adult small in sizing but a size 10 shoe and the highest size they make is a size 6 to 8
What plier sheath, pliers, and lanyard do you use for your gerber scissors?
The sheath came with the pliers & both the sheath & lanyard are from Gerber
Speaking of waders: "Patagonia, absolutely don't buy those." Why? I was just about to pull the trigger on the Swiftcurrent Zip Fronts until I saw this video. I respect your opinion so please explain. Thanks!
Gore-tex is overrrated, just get a solid pvc rainjacket. Guaranteed waterproof.
I’ve literally been doing this exact process. Hoping to go to Michigan and catch a first steelhead with my 17 yr old son. I’ve been researching for about 5 months hard. Stockpiling gear and bait/lures/knowledge. I follow the chain of researching broad then clicking every extra link and branching out. Locals help a ton. Joined hundreds of fb groups, insta accounts, email lists… research the best bait shops in the area. Do they have boat rentals, guides, etc. USGS helps a TON. Fishidy and Fishbrain. Have 20 plus fishing apps. I love this rabbit hole!
Need to make stuff in 4x and 5x for us bigger guys!!
I’m looking into buying waders right now. I was actually looking at the Patagonia waders, until you said don’t buy them. Why did you say not to buy them. Are they garbage?
Ive had a really good November on the Genny River in NY landing 5 on one day and others on different days because of your videos. I put on just a 8lb Fluor Leader and brought in a 26 1/2 beauty. A 30incher popped off. My net man failed lol. Is 15lb overkill? Obviously it just worked but, guys are always using from 6lb - 12lb around here.
I think you can easily get away with 15 lb. in a lot of scenarios.
@@AddictedFishing thanks, idk I haven't seen that Winter Steelhead box. I'll be buying that soon and wont forget to put the sticker on either lol Fish on!
Hey I'd love that Sweatshirt. Trying to find a link to it.
addicted.fishing
Where did you get the big Dave hat ?
A random gas station in Idaho lol
34:25 earned you a like and a subscription
good show
Thanks!
Couldn’t find a link to that oversized fur hat - he called it “big Dave’s”?
I just got mine at a random gas station in Idaho
I leave the plastic wrap on for the longevity of the rod ha
Are you going to be at the wa sportsman show??
Yep, & we have a movie premiere there.
addicted.fishing/collections/event-tickets
lol. I just bought Patagonia swift current exp. Waders. What’s wrong with it ?
Patagonia is one of the main drivers behind our dwindling steelhead #s. They want to ban all hatcheries.
They support & fund s lot of anti sportsman narrative, they do make good products, I just hate their agenda towards not supporting hatchery fish, among other crazy narratives they support. I personally refuse to give them a dollar.
@@AddictedFishing i got ya. I’d like to get US made simms waders, but it’s almost unreal here in Russia. All simms products we got here r not made in the States and really suck:( 1at trip and they leak 😢
I love marlin! Such a humble guy
Appreciate it!!
Pickin up trash appeases the fishing Gods! Less than 1000casts if you pay your respects. LOL The Puyallup is a mess with Braid and Mono everywhere.
One question why is it no river names?
I always wonder, Why don’t you make a smaller worm like 3,5” worm , if you gonna cut it off always anyway .😂
We do!
I liked this one, Marlin! I find it interesting to see how other anglers prepare themselves for winter walk and wade trips. I follow my rituals in the a.m. during winter steel season. Also, thanks for using your platform to remind people to clean up after them selfs out there. You wouldn't believe the amount of garbage I pick up along the banks during salmon and steelhead season. Pack it in, pack it out people! AND don't be a surface $h#tter!!
thanks, you guys gave me a new river to go to😃
Link to the hat!?
addicted.fishing
@@AddictedFishingthe grey Russian style one?
Yall need orange trout and panfish floats for real.
🔥
Been waiting for something like this. The small stuff you need to know before hitting the river! Asked for this on the live feed and marlin read it and delivered! Let’s go! Thanks marlin
Glad I could help! Good luck out there!
@@AddictedFishing as soon as these rivers go down I’ll be there! See ya at the sportsmen’s show!
The educational videos are always the best! Thanks for dropping some knowledge Marlin! 🤙🏼🎣🔥
You bet! Thanks for ALWAYS watching.
@@AddictedFishing of course! Just living that Addicted Life! 🤩
Marlin if it’s bad juju on the rod I’d throw it away entirely not throw it in my pocket now ur gonna have me doin that 😂
You are welcome Marlin, don't forget the USGS.
So who here can explain how the salmon river below the bridge became state property, rather than tribal land…? I used to fish down there every year till I took a break for 3 years then addicted posted there video made me go again & it’s like we can’t even go down there anymore due to state land I’m starting to wonder if it’s even true it was the only place we could fish without a guide 😭
I’m pretty sure the year they posted that video is when it closed below that bridge because I showed up to 100s of cars it was worse than the puyallup even now it’s like the puyallup because they limit our access on there river now 😤
They call it the white man water if you don’t know the bridge I’m talking about used to slay fish down there I’d like to go again 😂
Zipper in your waders, because you never know when your so called 'friend' is going to yell "Bear, bear bear!" and you need to run fast.
“Patagonia….do NOT buy those!” I love it lol
