Callout 6 in the user manual diagram is the evaporator air intake and the filter slides in from the top of the cabinet at that location. There is a handle opening in the top of the filter to facilitate removal. Filter cleanliness varies based on the environment where the portable air conditioner is being used and the length of time the unit is in operation. If you would like to purchase a replacement filter from Encompass, the part number is AC-2800-96.
The window plate with the opening for air exhaust is 19 ¾ “ by 4 ¾ “ also included with the unit is a solid extension plate that is also 19 ¾ “ by 4 ¾ “. The plates can be combined to cover an opening 39 1/2 inches by 4 3/4 inches. You can order extra solid extension plates to fill in the door gap. Both types of Extension plates can be ordered from Encompassparts
Using non-Haier parts, you can purchase a sheet of rigid foam insulation and cut it to fit the door opening then mount the air exhaust plate to the foam and cut open the hole
When installing the window vent plate you can put the screws into a wood or vinyl window frame In general Vinyl windows are actually a vinyl coating over a wood frame If you are still uncomfortable putting screws into your window frame the plates can be secured with a hot glue gun adhesive. However do not use an adhesive that is permanent as when it gets warm you will want to remove window plate to close the window
You can usually get away with it but you need to make sure the plugs or lead aren't heating up much. Compressors draw about 5 times their rated power when they first kick over so a long lead might mean it doesn't have enough power available. Leads introduce resistance and in turn voltage drop. It is possible to damage an AC motor if you get enough voltage drop while it's under load
I have a 12000 BTU model CPRD12XC7, which is excellent at cooling my back bedroom on these 90-degree plus summer nights. But I'm confused about the filter. Is it the same as what the manual identifies as the EVAPORATOR AIR INTAKE? I can't find anything else that would have easy access, but it never seems to get dirty.
The unit has a tank built into the unit which must be emptied periodically. The front panel display will show STOP indicating that the water tank is full and needs to be emptied. Unplug the unit and place a shallow pan under the drain, open the drain plug to empty the tank. Once the unit stops draining install the drain plug and plug the unit back in.
This unit operates on standard AC Power 110V, the noise level varies depending on fan speed up to approximately 59 dB at the maximum fan speed setting.
I have a Commercial Cool unit but the auto-evaporating hasn't worked since I bought it. Works great other than that, just have to set it up where it can drain...even though nothing has ever come out of the drain at the back...we're still not sure where the water comes from, exactly, it just kinda pools at the bottom from somewhere.
These units never work , never get cool enough . Plus the exhaust air tube creates so much additional heat which just helps to heat up the room . Tried 3 different models and always end up returning them .
I think I have to disagree. Had mine for about 2 weeks. I use an Haier, mine is HPP08XCR-E, a different model than the one above. It spits out cold'ish air. Left it on while sleeping at night, had to turn it off a couple hours later as I got rather chilly... The exhaust hose gets semi-warm, but definitely not hot. I dunno, I guess each persons experience will vary a little.
Notice the crack in the window space and the divider? Tape some foam to the divider then close the window frame on top of it to form a good seal. May have to put some window tape to secure the window as some windows are plastic/metal and you can't really use screws. Worse, you're a renter so you can not damage the window! May have to alert the landlord first if you really want to use screws.
Good points, a person doing one of these portable units will need a little DIY. A little tape might help. I personally cut out perfect pieces of cardboard and just wedged them with the window closed down. Works for my needs.
If you're talking about "sideways" windows, then me too, don't see often. But if you're talking about up-down windows, then I disagree. I have one and I'm using a portable a/c unit as we speak (same brand, but different model).
I have this unit for 7yrs now, works pretty good but a real hassle getting in installed. The window and hose assembly is not very good and falls apart easily. I bought my dad the same portable version but made by Della, it is better made, quieter and window and hose assembly is easy and well thought out, built better
The hose connector in the back will not fit easily into the unit. The connector is too small and will not fit over the vent in the back of the unit. Any suggestions?
be great if they could build a mini unit for folks whom have broken ac in the late model trucks or cars ..... im jusa sayin it would be great thts all......
I've used my unit about 2 weeks now and we had one huge rain storm. Wasn't a problem. Unless the rain falls unusually at an angle directly at your window(?), but I'd still imagine the problem would be minimal. You could always tape a make-shift piece of cardboard at the top of your exhaust hose outlet area, giving more shield from rain(?), I'd guess.
Are there models designed for sliding glass doors? That's the only open window I have downstairs. Could I just use a large piece of cardboard that is the size of the door to replace the window panel adapter?
We appreciate you reaching out and are glad to hear that your A/C unit is working as intended. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. Thanks. -AT
I would like to put one of these inside my boat, however I would need to use an extension cord, which they say not to use. Can anyone tell me if that is the same for all portable a/c units, and why an extension cord cannot be used? Thanks.
What I wanna know is, does it blow cold air into your room or does it just blow hot air out the window, making it a glorified fan? I live in a very humid state and they turn the AC off in the fall in the building I live in here.
Dietpepsiahh I had an eariler version, it will take the humidity out, so the tank will have to be emptied often. Which sucks because the outlet is on the very bottom in the back. Or you can do as I did, rig a hose to the outside and drill a hole in your wall. Why suck in hot humid air when that's exactly what your attempting to get rud of by using the unit. Though it's a bit unsightly. I've rig my inlet to hang far up in the air (hot air rises) and hook it to the ceiling, behind a set of drapes. For the price, a mini split is better and cheaper to run. Our bedroom is 12 x 15 and a 110, one ton (12,000 btu) mini split cost the same. Is cheaper to operate and works far better. The supposed 7,000 btu portable, isn't really a 7,000. Doing the math it's only a half ton (6,000 btu). So in a 10 x 10 room, you'll need to keep it on high. Dudn't work will in a 12 x 15, the high fan setting was't high, and noise, oh, the noise.
I use HPP08XCR-E, and yes it actually does make cool / cold air, not just as a "fan." Keep in mind that it only cools the air already in the room, not new air drawing in... My unit is good for just "basic" needs, so I don't know about places that are ultra-hot or ultra-humid.

I’m am aware the exhaust has to be filtered out the window but I’ve been running mine with the other tube not hooked up .. their is one for fresh air .. why does that have to be hooked up ? Inside air is more fresh and cold ?
Hi Jo - you definitely want to hook up the other hose. The intake hose takes air from outside to cool the unit down. Dual hose systems are more efficient in larger settings but in order to work properly, the 2nd hose must be utilized. Thanks -CC
Haier Thanks for the reply .. I was wondering if the outside air is at 90 and the inside air is at 72 wouldn’t it make more sense to have it not hooked up ? The inside air would cool better at 72 correct ?
Hi Jo - we have to recommend that it be installed as stated in the instructions. But I would think that's accounted for since air conditioners are run when the weather is hot so the inside air would be cooler than the outside air. So we recommend that it be installed as it was designed. Thanks -CC

Hi! Thanks for asking. Warm air is exhausted out of the hose so there should not be water leaking from it. As long as the unit is installed and leveled properly, this unit should not drip inside the home. If the unit is leaking, check the exhaust vent and whether the unit is level. If you'd like to learn more, you can click here: spklr.io/6059lOm5 If you have other questions/concerns, feel free to let us know. -MS
Go to some kind of Home Depot, buy some screen about 6 inches tall and 40 inches or so wide, and then do some DIY -- cut the screen perfect to overlap the window pieces and tape them together on the outside. Come on, use the brain (and your two hands) just a little.
Yes. But you will have a hot room. It needs to be vented so the warm air from unit can escape without heating your room back up. The warm air comes from the unit cooling itself.
These units are sold with a 5' vent hose with a 5” inch diameter. Larger capacity units like the 14,000 BTU style require two hoses in order to fit a standard double hung window application. Operating the unit without an exhaust vent will not allow heat and humidity to be removed from the room. The unit will not function properly without an exhaust vent. Additionally the unit must be vented outdoors, not into an attic or other indoor space. Thanks for asking! kg

Hi Carlos - The unit has a tank built into it which must be emptied periodically. The front panel display will show STOP indicating that the water tank is full and needs to be emptied. The unit will not run until the tank is emptied. On models with a removable tank, if STOP remains after emptying the tank (or it's new and no water is in the tank), remove the water reservoir and inspect the float switch for signs of something that is not allowing the float to move smoothly. Thanks -CC
ravishingelite Nonsense. If you get a properly rated extension cord you can use one safely. Buy one as short as needed with the appropriate current rating for your unit. They just tell you not to use one so dummies don't use the wrong one which could potentially cause an overheating situation. You should be fine with a 15 amp extension cord but If you want to go the extra mile because you're paranoid, buy one rated for 20 amps. It's just thicker wire with robust connectors, and yes, they cost more.

house actually disconnected in middle of nite putting poisonous gas into house. also unit produces enough heat back into house were its really counterproductive. i returned back to store ...unsafe cldve killed my whle household
Hi, David - I'm sorry the hose became disconnected from the window. I realize you've already returned it but I did want to reassure you that the air conditioner does not put out any type of gas. The hose is designed to vent the hot air that's being extracted from the room to the outside. So when the hose became disconnected, that hot air was simply coming right into the room. But there was no type of gas with it. Thanks -CC
The only way I could imagine a hose disconnecting is if you didn't very securely snap the hose on fully. In addition you could also place some kind of tape around that as well, for added measure.
I have 1 of these 5 years now it's the single hose unit and it really gets the job done,it's also good to unscrew off the back of it and clean out the air inlet on the lower section on the inside of it from the back
Hello Ata, Haier does not test appliances on inverters. Check with the inverter manufacturer on whether that device will run an appliance. Thanks for checking! - SF
Dear Sir: I am NOT referring to running air conditioner on a 12-Volt battery and inverter!! I am referring to the new air-conditioning technology Inverter AC, that uses 50% less electricity. I have a Heir split AC that uses Inverter technology and I save a lot of energy. You are a specialist in this field. I hope you understand the new inverter technology air-conditioning units!
Sorry about that, Ata. The inverter technology is available only on the ductless split air units. Using a new pulse amplitude modulation technology (“A-PAM”), the 180° sine wave DC inverter on ductless (split air) air conditioners allows for greater stability at low frequencies and greater power at high frequencies-all while improving cooling efficiency over existing systems. I hope this helps! -SF
Wrong. In the kit they are supposed to supply you with two L-shape metal braces, you screw those on at the top of the moving portion of the window, bracing the window in place. Sure they could still punch in the exhaust plate (mine measures 5.75 inches height), giving them room to slip their arms in and grab anything near. But if you also bolt / screw the plate into the window pane, that would help. I live on a 2nd floor so not too worried.

We'd be happy to look into this for you, Conrad. Please send us a PM with your model and serial number so that we can. All the best.- KW
What if you have a traditional window that doesn't slide but opens on hinges..
Clarksons go through the wall if you have a casement window.
Does water come out of the hose?
Hi! Thanks for asking.
Warm air is exhausted out of the hose so there should not be water leaking from it. As long as the unit is installed and leveled properly, this unit should not drip inside the home. If the unit is leaking, check the exhaust vent and whether the unit is level. If you'd like to learn more, you can click here: spklr.io/6059lOm5

My window does not have a screen. I rent. Landlord won't put any on. And won't let me do it. So how do I use this safty.
Go to some kind of Home Depot, buy some screen about 6 inches tall and 40 inches or so wide, and then do some DIY -- cut the screen perfect to overlap the window pieces and tape them together on the outside. Come on, use the brain (and your two hands) just a little.
I'm looking for a Portable Ac and heater built in one.Give me details on where to get that ? Give me the name brands of the best ?
You could buy one at Home Depot and it is a LG

can you use it in a room without running the exhaust outside?
I don't see how (??). You could I guess, but the until puts of cold air in front, and shoots out warm air in back, don't think it would go too well.
Thanks for asking! kg
What about the water drain line?

Why does my haier dosent work it reads stop when i connect it
Hi Carlos - The unit has a tank built into it which must be emptied periodically.
Thanks -CC
Thnks for the help got it and its running again!!
Thanks for the update, Carlos! So glad to hear it is up and running properly! Enjoy your weekend! -SF

You can purchase one ot Encompass Parts. www.encompassparts.com/staticpages/Haier_Consumer_Home
Haier Why can't you use an extension cord? I used one with my Haier window unit all last summer
ravishingelite Nonsense.
Why not sale in Pakistan
Go figured only shows windows that open up and close down. never shows sliding windows

house actually disconnected in middle of nite putting poisonous gas into house. also unit produces enough heat back into house were its really counterproductive. i returned back to store ...unsafe cldve killed my whle household
where is the poisonus gas coming from?? you need to investigate further to ascertain whats going on.

Is this an Inverter technology?
Hello Ata, Haier does not test appliances on inverters. Check with the inverter manufacturer on whether that device will run an appliance. Thanks for checking! - SF
Dear Sir:
I am NOT referring to running air conditioner on a 12-Volt battery and inverter!!
-SF
Thanks for the reply! Is there an Inverter Technology in the pipeline for Haier portable units in the future?
Hi Ata - we do not have any plans to incorporate this technology into our portable air conditioners at this time. Thanks -CC
This is easy for thefs to brake in.
💞louka💞 and glass window is not anymore securer than this?
I live on a 2nd floor so not too worried.
did a thef steal your spell checker?
