*It’s: Pretty. Quiet. **Fastly.Cool** in my room. Works wellLittle of hassle to install was TOTALLY worth it. I’m loving it so far. I recommend watching the installation video and taking it slow~*
1:27 what LG doesn’t mention (which is very important) is that absolutely NO air can escape from the mounting bracket/diffuser. otherwise, hot/humid air will be released from the gaps, increasing humidity, which won’t allow the A/C to cool efficiently. Think about it like this. If there were a hole in the hose, some of the hot air that the unit was trying to put outside would be released into the room. The same thing happens if there are any air gaps at the attachment points.
buy some insulating tape from your local Lowe’s or The Home Depot, apply it around the attachments of the mounting bracket & diffuser, and you should be good.
also, make sure the window is sealed entirely, and that no air can get in or out. air escaping from anywhere other than the A/C vent will increase humidity.
Lastly, this air conditioner is not portable by any means. it really needs to be permanently installed if you want the best performance out of it.
It's easier said than done. We struggled but finally got it done. 😊
That's because you are an idiot.
I’m installing now. For this price the garbled printed instructions and ancient videos are infuriating. I hope the unit works better than the installation directions.
I have a horizontal/Left to Right sliding window & had this installed & cooling in under 2 hours, including trimming & installing a piece of screen to go over the grating b/c I don't have a screen in that window. I could have used extra foam but w/ rigid insulation I had on hand trimmed down I made it fit quite snug. In 15 minutes my room has dropped 10 degrees easily. I watched this video at least twice.
Why did you need the screen?
The hose gets super hot, which heated up the room, I had to tape insulation around hose. That helped a lot.
thanks for the tip
Is it good to buy portable ac.what about electricity bill
Hello I just bought one today what kind of tape is good to use for the hose?
@@stevemoore9509 duct tape
@@rachelwilliams3108 Oh great thanks Rachel.
I absolutely loved the portable units I had for my mobile home when my central air unit went out. I had two units that cooled the living room, kitchen, and bathroom and slept in the living room. One was 12000 btu's and the other was 10,000 btu's. The only drawback is that they do make a lot of noise. Mine weren't this brand though.
Works great, units we got were a tiny bit different but the video was spot on, thank you
you need to insulate the expanding hose which blows out the hot air.
otherwise, it's like having a radiating heater and ac on at the same time.
insulate using towels or blankets wrapped and taped tightly, covering
the entirety of the hose. 2 to 4 inches of insulation is adequate.
How do you insulate the hose? I used this last summer but now when I set temp it jumps to 80. I can’t find help online at all nor in manual. Any help would be appreciated.
@@valerievalerie5897 i use an old thick blanket to wrap the expanding hose from end to end, using tape to keep it from unraveling. the thicker
the material used for insulation, the better it keeps the heat from leaking into the room. you can use old newspapers, towels, blankets
or even insulation found in hardware stores. just remember, you're goal is to keep the hot expanding hose from heating up the room.
the insulated hose should be cool to the touch when the ac is running. if it is still warm, i would wrap another layer until it is cool to the touch.
takezoaudio thanks so much. I’ll try that in the morning ( also cleaning filters tonight ) so strange it was great last year.
takezoaudio sorry to bother you I wrapped hose with towels blankets etc and mask taped best I could. The air coming out seems cool and my next question is how much of hose can you leave in order to touch for temp ? I discovered late last night mine is one of 3 models recalled contacted LG but not optimistic about contact. I’m going to watch carefully and continue to use. Right now hose exposed say 1 1/2 inch each end and is warm but not hot. Thanks for your help
@@valerievalerie5897 i cover every inch of the hose. i touch for temperature on the blanket surface and it is cool. if warm, then add another layer. good luck
Looks so good that I can't wait to use till summer...

@Sam Vincent happy to help xD
Easy peasy, thanks to this A/I voiced video!
The main question is do you save money on your heating bill?
There are a lot of issues with the window panel installation if you have a left to right sliding window. This video nor any other video goes over the problems. Extremely frustrating
Yeah, you basically need you to make your own window pannel using plywood, and then screw the provided window panel into it to be able to attach the hose. Especially if you have windows higher than 50". Even if it's inconvenient, the advantage is that it will provide better insulation from heat and sound than what just installing the slim panel could provide (especially with a 1-inch plywood). It also makes you able to install a vent cover on the outside. Just make sure to paint the plywood (ideally in white if the sun shine directly on it during the day) so that it does not rot.
Hi. Did you manage to install it Dominic?
Will my hands be destroyed if I don't wear big giant gloves like they wear when having a nuclear meltdown?
yes
that's a lot of work for something portable
Windows problem. My windows is different What do I do
I thought you could mive these Units from room 2 room but after seeing this video i can see they need installation which is a shame ad i wanted to use it in my bedroom and living room
FYI- the diffusers DO NOT screw on to each end of the hose. Worst design ever. However, if you unscrew the black grate , fully extend both ends of the hose, and leverage one side in first and very carefully use needle nose pliers to pull the other side up... you'll secure each diffuser. Making a seal is critical as the hose will vibrate out of the diffusers within a few minutes of usage.
Glad it’s not just me this is crazy the hose definitely won’t screw into the bracket
Yeah portable from the store to my room thats about it😂
yeah. That's about portable when u're an idiot.
u know u can install 2 window vent panels in two windows in separate rooms and use the ac in any room u want anytime u want?? not for u though.
@Marco Deo How could you design a portable one really? You need somewhere to exhaust heat, or its a heater.

This type of units you must always insulate the hose becaue you are cooling with unit and heating with the units hose ( it’s just a plastic hose, heat’s up when in use).
Oh, I didn't know that. They should have mentioned it, hmmm
The whole unit heats up, the hot air being expelled doesn't make the hose so hot it reheats the room.
how would you go about insulating the hose?
The whole part about screwing the hose in the does not work for me. Hose just will not screw in
Thank you was a lot of help!
I bought one for my outdoor work shop. Season -1 the auto drain feature stopped working as well as the auto shut off when water level is full from condensation - causing the unit to leak water all over the floor. Season -2 the articulating air flow blade stopped working and later in the middle of summer the unit stopped working all together.
TrueToad same thing here....lots of damage to wood floors...
My auto shutoff never worked right.
The nozzle is the worst thing to ever exist such bad design
I wish I had just watched this video, instead of following the directions in the booklet, which are horrible. The booklet instructs you to put the adhesive foam on the vent, instead of on your window. Complete nightmare to install! I'm going to change out the foam to the video method today!
I am missing the"portable" part...
Portable item needs installation?

ridiculous right?
sam heller thought the same thing
In my language we call this stationary air conditioner
hahaha
Since I never use my fireplace, I wonder if I can use my fireplace instead of my window. The HOA in my condo may not allow me to do that.🤔
@Shnaz Fangler I lived in a small condo that I bought in 1984. I don't need a house, cause it's just me. I paid my mortgage off 10 years ago. Which means I haven't paid rent or mortgage since then. If you buy a condo, there is going to be an HOA. They take care of the yard around the property, water, trash etc. I'm at that age where I don't want to start paying rent somewhere else or buy a new house with a new mortgage. I'm rent & mortgage FREE!! Plus, houses are not cheap(especially in a nice area), I'll past away first, before I pay off on a 30 year mortgage loan.😀
Then how would Santa slide down?
@@ToulKorkMan I'm too old for 🎁 anyway, it's not like I have 👫anymore.🎅👎
I did it for mine, I just removed the doors and blocked off the open areas with wood. Seems to work fine been using it for weeks now.
Do you have a video about draining the condensed water?

Portable and new dc inverter Ac ... what’s more electric effective
How it is portable, when you can't even move?
It's portable in that you can take it down and move it to another room or take it with you when you move. You can't take your central ac from house to house when you move.
It has wheels. I have one.
@@Meela234
But it time-consuming portable.

Yes you can. You put it in another room near another window.
I don't have gloves that's why I ship it back!

For safety/ break- in concerns, duplicate a laundry dryer vent through the wall. Dress it up right and it'll look just like any other laundry vent.
Hi LG my portable air conditioner and i agree it is heavy i needed help and it works well as i only live in a apartment
Love this
Thanks so much for this tute. It worked a treat :)
If my window opens horizontally ?? I guess I place the window vent panel vertically.
I think the dual hose ones do better when it is a lot hotter like 100°F but the single hose units perform better at lower temperatures e.g. 85. There is a video somewhere on this where they did tests. So for where I live I would be wasting money to buy a dual hose unit because the single hose will perform better when the heat isn't so much.
I don't have a problem if air is being sucked in from the other side of the home as that will be the cooler shady side. I suspect though that the air coming back in would not be as hot as the air being expelled.
Also, many people like me do not have windows that slide either vertically or horizontally but swing out vertically or horizontally instead. So it would be even more difficult with dual hose. It is already tough with single hose and you have to avoid the expelled air coming back in by getting wind direction etc right. I think a dual hose could suffer that problem just as much with hot air that is expelled coming straight back in.
The window units seem to be better than both portable types but again they need the vertical sliding windows. One thing I'd like to know is if LG make portable units with more BTUs e.g. 18,000 or 24,000? 12,000 may only be good for smaller rooms.
Can this AC unit hose be extended with an additional hose? Thank you
Yeah , true !
I have a vertical 4 meter extension and it works just fine, and it's an ancient model
This unit was given to me without any instructions. Do you have to add water inside a compartment? If so, where? The reason for saying so being I see on mine a discharging of dirty water. Thanks in advance
Have not yet found instructions for installing this useless aparatus through a circular wall vent. I'm not interested in a window unit- if I were I'd buy one designed to fit into the window instead of take up room space.
I like the ac portable..
Portable but can't frequently move it
Nice
Better than drilling holes in the wall.
I wish they had 90 degree elbow for the vent tube, its so big and takes too much space behind the unit
Why do none of these videos address the draining of the ac unit? Easily the most frustrating part...
I called their toll free number, gave them my model number and they e-mailed me the owners manual. My model has two drains the one on top is for dehumidifier, one on bottom is for ac. You can call them. There are two ways to drain it. Also, the filters need to be cleaned about every two weeks.
Where can you purchase a replacement hose? Mine have not help up well. It would be great if there was a better type to replace it.
Is mobile freon air conditioning the air conditioning of the future and will they cancel the old types of air conditioning that were in the past
What kind of portable it is...if u need this much to install
This would be perfect for stealth van camping. Just hook up the exhaust heat to the roof vent.
Good idea. But what about power consumption? (source?)
@@jayjayjay4788 It would require a gas generator. Traveling Robert uses a Westinghouse 2500 which he says is pretty quiet. He's not a stealth camper, he just wanted a quiet generator.
The only idea I can think of for stealth is to mount a bike type rack on the back of the van and put the generator inside an insulated box on the bike rack. Or inside an insulated trailer.
A soft start unit is needed to keep from the breakers from tripping when the AC turns on.

Yeah all well and good till bacteria galore builds up inside the bottom and in the air outtake so bad that it makes you sick even with regular cleaning it's not worth all the effort to slightly cool down a single living room or bedroom and I'm speaking from experience I had one until I noticed sinus and lung problems with me and my family the water buildup in the bottom of the unit was disgusting to say the least.
You're insane!!!

To LG which vents to make sure that's nothing blocking??? Are you refer to vents on the back of AC or exhaust port to outside? Is the net screen on the window consider as anything that blocking the vent? If not you need to update this video. There are to many uneducated people out there.
I have a 10,200 in my bedroom, but now it fills with water, can hear the water gurgling and it is supposed to be self evaporating, how do i fix this problem for good? I did try to remove a clog from the tubes that drain the air conditioner but hasn't helped, please.
Fran Helmer Put the United on a desk or something and attach the hose to the init and the other end to a pail because the pail has to be lower than the unit. Now it will drain whenever there is water built up

Best one
Portable ac not gd split dc inverter ac is best choice for better cooling performance and also best for saving electricity
Not the best choice for a rental though and by the time you've purchased, wired and installed the split you'll have spent a lot of money and it's permanently in one room.

how is this portable? this involves drilling into permanent window structures, cutting, adhesives and other strongly-committed activities. you end up wasting floor space and get no benefit of easy install and easy relocation. it is more cost, more hassle, and more bulk than a regular window unit.

Do these sort of window installations work with side closing windows ?
