Thank you Michael and Jessica. This is truly a beautiful place but something does seem off about that bridge. Even that dog you filmed that was unleashed stopped and went to that spot! People need to take heed and keep their dogs close on that bridge!
I go to Overton bridge house on a Friday for lunch! It's stunning inside and you don't need an appointment it's a cafe! The owners are American it's stunning in summer! I live 10 mins away from here! So many different stories why the dogs jump over! Something draws them to jump I think it's the acoustics with waterfall and echoing Can be a hundred things that draws them over .. Can't believe you were so close to where I live! You have dumbarton castle as well to visit 5 mins away Hope your enjoying Scotland Get to glencoe and the lost valley It will blow you away xx❤ cathy
I've been here, very moving place 😢 Thank you for being respectful. I scattered my dogs ashes off that bridge a year ago. Bless you both. Again thank you ❤
I've heard stories about this bridge for years & they never fail to make me feel sad. The stories I heard most often was the tale of a ghost cat that only dogs can see & try to chase before it vanishes. I think the acoustics of the site certainly have something to do it. If y'all were hearing something strange & disorienting, then dogs with their keen hearing probably hear it doubly so. Thank you for sharing! It's a beautiful, though haunting, site.
Thanks for the great episode Michael and Jessica. I live 10 minutes up the road towards Glasgow and have visited the bridge on many occasions with my kids. A beautiful house and grounds. I have a connection with the house as I was born in it in 1963. It was a maternity hospital from 1947 to 1970. The room I was introduced to the world in is now a tearoom but it still has the same ornate paintings of angels on the ceiling as they were on that day. Before I first visited it as an adult I wondered many times about "the Angel Ward" as my mum called it when I was growing up. Bizarre to to have lunch with my kids in the room in which I was born. Loved your video on Yester Castle. Definitely going to pay a visit.
That is such a bizarre story. As amazing as that bridge looks, I’m surprised they haven’t put up some bars or some type of guard rail so the dogs aren’t able to jump off 🤷🏼♂️ Just a thought..
I never go over bridges with my dog off leash. My dog loves jumping over walls and If a bridge has a solid stone wall he thinks its level ground on the other side. Those trees higher than the wall line create the illusion of that very thing.
Dogs see things entirely different than humans, Probably an optical illusion that dogs can't differentiate, But if you watch videos about waterfalls and people entranced enough to jump in,
I’ve heard this story before, about this bridge up in Scotland. It’s baffling, and so sad. With the baby and the dogs. I wouldn’t let my two crazy guys run across, they’d jump. Great video. Love Jessica’s coat 😊 Happy Halloween 🎃
You never cease to amaze me. The videos are outstanding and the way you present the story is like reading a good book. Much respect and Happy Halloween
Thanks for taking us along on that visit! I'm part-Scottish and would love to visit Scotland someday. As for the Dog Suicide Bridge, I think that optical illusion theory works. A dog crossing the bridge sees or smells something, the classic "Squirrel! "reflex kicks in, then jumps over the low rail expecting solid ground on the other side. Well, there is solid ground--only a lot further down than they expected. I watched as Jessica was crossing and saw how even people unfamiliar with that bridge could be fooled.
What a creepy story great video as always 👏 I’ve just come back from a castle called old Wardour castle in dorset you guys would love it it was used in Robin Hood prince of thieves x
I hope this doesn't come across as disrespectful, as it's certainly not meant that way, but I've never known a person/couple/collective from the "gothic" community make their interests as accessible and interesting as this channel. I've followed for many years on my personal channel, and it gets better every year, without fail.
More than 600 dogs jumped from that bridge (built in 1895), 50 died - that's unbelievable! Insane: In October 1994, a mentally ill father threw his two-week-old baby off a bridge because he was convinced his child was the devil incarnate. The fall was fatal for the baby. 😪 According to Stan Rawlinson, a dog expert, minks that were under the bridge would have tempted the dogs to jump into the depths. According to Rawlinson, the smell of mink, which is said to be particularly intense on sunny days, can almost drive you into a frenzy, writes the Daily Mail. Since the dogs could not have seen or suspected that jumping over the bridge parapet would lead straight into the depths, they simply followed their hunting instinct. In addition, only dogs with long snouts and a particularly good sense of smell jumped off the bridge. Well... 🤔
My older brother took his dog, a Husky, up to Overtoun house and the damn brute refused to cross the bridge. Despite the horrific loss of dogs jumping from the bridge, the area is very popular with dog walkers. Not sure why so many dogs jump over the side of the bridge but I reckon some dogs may see a bird level with the bridge and go after it and jump over the bridge wall not thinking there is a huge drop. For dogs, it may be some sort of occipital illusion. Really enjoying your Scottish tours and I really could see Grimmlifecollective living in a place like Overtoun House.
Appreciate your absolutely amazing & Beautifully Shot, editing, impeccable story telling abilities Mike & Jessica. Luv&Peace friend's 🥂Cheers to continued success, health and happiness! Ty for all you do! ❤✌🏼💫
I love how grimmlifecollective family pops up in. Ensures us nothing will change, it's called being a good You Tuber quality stories. Thank you for your great narration and discovers. Happy Halloween!
Eerie place ,that dog was running and headed to the right where you said the dogs go to jump, I’d be keeping them on a leash across there, great video, great place so gothic🙏 can’t wait for more thank you mate👍
I know this bridge very well, they’re smelling smaller animals like mink but they’re unaware of the drop on the other side. I can appreciate the legend and tales about it but it’s a straightforward issue. I LOVE that you guys are exploring my beautiful country. I hadn’t even heard of Yester Castle until I saw your video. I absolutely love the pair of you ❤ Baby Ghoul MUST have Scottish roots because she is fitting in fine to this country as though she has lived here her entire life. She loves Scotland and Scotland loves her!
As it was said before, it's very tragic the stories that have happened on such a beautiful estate and very majestic views. As a member of a family of animal lovers, I would be devastated if anything happened to one of our family members ( animals ). Thank-you for the respectfullnesss of your video. Happy Halloween 🎃
Welcome to Scotland firstly! Slainte as we say in Gaelic. The problem with the bridge here and I've walked it many times is that it's not evident at all that there is a steep drop on the other side (some 15-20m), and combined with the 'cubby holes'' low castellation, provides a 'trompe l'oeil' effect that does not appear to scare canines. The rising treetops also appear like shrubs behind a wall thereby giving the effect that it is level ground on the other side. (There's another, less grim, trick of the land effect like this down the road at Croy (Electric) Brae where the road appears to go downhill when it's actually an incline). Did you check out the Necropolis in Glasgow (next to Cathedral)? Plenty grim stuff there. Also, see the opening crane shot from Mort En Direct [Deathwatch], (1980, Tavernier) with a young Harvey Keitel in Glasgow...
I'm so happy you're both still in Scotland making more magical videos for us. Thank you, Grimmlife. This was a gorgeous, hauntingly beautiful trip. I've never heard of this bridge. 🌳🌉🌳🏰🌳
I think its an optical illusion with the dogs and the bridge. I think they hear and or smell animals and from looking low through the little cutouts, i think the dogs perception is there is ground level with the bridge. Another good video!
Very strange and fascinating story! David Byrne was born in Dumbarton. You guys would love Glamis Castle if in Dundee area, has a secret room mystery, is haunted and has a pet cemetery. It is where Macbeth lived also. The one in this video reminded me of it a bit. Enjoy the rest of your trip!
My guess is that out cove specifically is causing an acoustic anomaly, giving the impression that ground behind the wall is higher than it is. It would be worth experimenting moving around at a dog's height to see if anything like that could be heard.
I was born in Overton house. And my life has been cursed ... your title tune would totally sum it up 🎼"Good luck never stays a day. Bad lucks always coming my way" 🎶🎵
Thank you both for this video. I live about 30 miles away from here and have never heard this story! I’ll definitely be visiting and finding out more soon. I hope you have had a warm and friendly welcome in Scotland ❤ x
Excellent video, Mike & Jess!! The following lyrics can be sung to “In a Big Country” by the Scottish band BIG COUNTRY-- “In a big GrimmLife, Screams stay with you, Like a doggie’s bark, Across a bridge so wide, Stay Alive.” Be well and stay safe, you two Crazy Ghouls!!
Oh that’s amazing you guys been at Overtoun Bridge. I have been there many times, and possibly one of the documentary film you and Jessica seen, it is the documentary film that me and my friend were filming back in 2013, that is called Overtoun. It was a great experience that we had. Shame it was closed that day you guys were there, if not you would have had for sure a good chat with Rev Bob Hill the owner. Much love guys ❤ keep it going 😊
Thank you guys so much. I’m ‘into’ paranormal history despite not believing in ghosts, etc. That doesn’t put a damper on my enjoyment nor learning and being fascinated by history. Another plus is…well…how so very much in love you guys are! It’s so cool! I’m an old Southern guy. I’m not supposed to be all ‘gushy’. Haha! Your content has always been top-tier, and you are always reaching up. Keep on! My black leather jacket and Black Sabbath, Joy Division, The Damned and Skinny Puppy soundtracks are prepped! Heh! Love and light to you and yours! 🙂
My husband and I think it is a ghost cat.. A long time ago a cat was sitting on the edge or the rail sunning like cats do. A dog came along and startled it and it fell off the edge.. Now the ghost cat sits on the ledge for eternity taunting the dogs as they walk by , tempting them to jump over the edge.. Ok this is not the official story but my husband and I love it. So that’s the story we are sticking with. Thank you for the amazing videos. We want so much to go to England, Scotland and Ireland! (we are cat people)
A few years ago I was working on a short film which was filming right there( the film wasn’t related with the bridge) but i had no idea about this bridge or it’s history and I spent the whole day filming only a few yards away!!
Stayed just down the Rd and it's a beautiful place with a room my brother was born in, called the angel room because the ceiling is adorned with beautiful paintings of cherubs and when folk woke up they thought they where in heaven . ALWAYS keep your dog on a lead
Excellent episode, I stay 10 minutes (by car) from here, so I'm biased. Wish I knew you guys were visiting Dumbarton. Can just imagine you both living in Overtoun house, that be perfect! Hope you managed to get to visit Dumbarton Castle as well...
It is a sad story but it. Good to have michael and Jessica telling it they so good with there storys and how they do things love michael and Jessica lots
This is so cool (I mean, it is sad, but so beautiful at the same time!). I think I had heard of this place while watching Unsolved Mysteries years ago! Thank you for visiting and walking us through it!!! I feel like I am there with you guys. Love you guys!!! ❤❤❤
This was a little distressing to get through (I started thinking of my dog, a Greyhound named Lennox I adopted last year after my whippet Basil had to be put to sleep), & before a fellow Greyhound owner kindly gave me a spare harness (I've been tight with money), my cheeky friend has had a few occasions where he was able to free himself of the collar. Omg can’t imagine cleaning that castle - sad to hear about the bridge.. I love my dogs .. beautiful two ppl Michael & Jessica - my heritage is Celtic -Scot, Irish..
Hi Michael and Jessica! I am watching your video right now and I love your videos and channel. Thank you for posting this video. That castle is huge. You guys are awesome and amazing.
That one definitely is. There was also a murder there at one time, if I'm not mistaken. Though i was born there you couldn't pay me enough to stay the night there 👻😱😨
Like the other person says dogs can see things that we can't see anyways the bridge is beautiful all the plants are beautiful thank you so much for sharing this beautiful place that you went to you and sis have fun and be safe much love to you all❤❤❤❤
I love the story to this Overtoun Estate's Bridge.... Wow, I wonder what effects the dog's minds to make the jump??..... Very interesting, GriMMs---- Love this episode....... :^)""""""""""""""""
A few years ago a friend of mine was walking her dog next to Sydney harbour when, all of a sudden the dog took off toward the sea wall. Similar height and stone as well. He jumped into the harbour and about four feet of water. Abigail jumped in after him and carried him out but he would have drowned otherwise. Small dog and luckily a ladder nearby. I love dogs but they can be pretty stupid at times.
So when I was there I got down low as if I was a dog. From there hight it almost looks like that gap is an exit from the bridge, more so than any other gap there. Definitely thought the sound of the river was louder at that spot and I wondered if dogs just thought it was the way out. The whole place gave me the creeps
Thank you Michael and Jessica. This is truly a beautiful place but something does seem off about that bridge. Even that dog you filmed that was unleashed stopped and went to that spot! People need to take heed and keep their dogs close on that bridge!
Dogs are off about that bridge.

I live near there and it's lovely to walk your dog up there but I NEVER take my dog across that bridge it just feels eerie.
Being a doggie parent it breaks my heart to hear these stories.
Such a beautiful and serene area.
I've been here, very moving place 😢

That’s the most spookiest one when that dog darted to that side and you moved the camera away I was like noooo!
What a sad place but so beautiful, like Autumn .. everything beautiful but dying

7:58 as Jessica walking through the forest and her hair is the perfect color where she can practically camouflage herself in the brush!
Love that as Grimm manor, beaut grass too. That part when the dog was running to the spot was epic!
I’ve heard this story before, about this bridge up in Scotland. It’s baffling, and so sad. With the baby and the dogs. I wouldn’t let my two crazy guys run across, they’d jump. Great video. Love Jessica’s coat 😊

😢😢😢😢😢WOW that is a big huge drop. Great video guys. Thanks for sharing.😊😊😊😊
That's such a sad bridge. Jessica's hair is so beautiful it looks like candy.
Its so beautiful there ,almost got a heart attack when the doggy approached the bridge. Great video once again!
You guys need a palace!! The Hall of Grim❤❤
Thank you guys for the UK videos, hope to visit Scotland one day. Very interesting and eerily beautiful property.

wow, that's crazy!
Watched all your Scotland videos up to date and you seemed have hit the weather right (no rain) 🏴
Thanks Michael and Jessica, another great video. You two always bring the best out of the locations you visit. Always very interesting 😊

Omg 😮. What tragic stories. 😢 As a pet parent the dog stories break my heart. 💔 But the story about the newborn is beyond tragic. 😪
Never grim when the grimms are about happy halloween 🎃 guys.......
That's so sad😢. A beautiful place. But, so very sad about the child and Dogs. 😢
I like your videos:) I am from Prague Czech republic and if you like castles visit Caslte named Houska. Very Dark place👍🏻🖤

Spooky video! The Grimms Rock Scotland!

Thank you both for this video. I live about 30 miles away from here and have never heard this story! I’ll definitely be visiting and finding out more soon. I hope you have had a warm and friendly welcome in Scotland ❤ x
This place was amazing.
You find ALL the Ghoul(cool) stuff😮
Excellent video, Mike & Jess!!
The following lyrics can be sung to “In a Big Country” by the Scottish band BIG COUNTRY--

I was not expecting the drop off that bridge to be THAT high. Wow.
I’m enjoying all your videos from the UK! Fascinating! I’m learning so much. Thanks a bunch.
Another amazing video you guys rock!❤
That’s creepy & sad 😢😮
Stayed just down the Rd and it's a beautiful place with a room my brother was born in, called the angel room because the ceiling is adorned with beautiful paintings of cherubs and when folk woke up they thought they where in heaven .
ALWAYS keep your dog on a lead
I have watched your videos for years, so lovely to see you visit the UK :)
Excellent episode, I stay 10 minutes (by car) from here, so I'm biased. Wish I knew you guys were visiting Dumbarton. Can just imagine you both living in Overtoun house, that be perfect! Hope you managed to get to visit Dumbarton Castle as well...
Dear guys, am watching you from Athens Greece. Every video of you is amazing!!!!!!!!!! Sorry for my english. Greetings and kisses.
With the history of the bridge why would people pick that place to walk with their dogs? Did they then go home and play with fire?
It is a sad story but it. Good to have michael and Jessica telling it they so good with there storys and how they do things love michael and Jessica lots
This is so cool (I mean, it is sad, but so beautiful at the same time!). I think I had heard of this place while watching Unsolved Mysteries years ago! Thank you for visiting and walking us through it!!! I feel like I am there with you guys. Love you guys!!! ❤❤❤
Thanks for another amazing story with outstanding filming, research and narration. We feel like we are right there with you!
Very interesting and cool looking forward to your next video safe travels my friends.
Love the way you present the story thanks again guys for the great content
Hope your enjoying my country 😀🏴
Now that's a spooky one
Such a beautiful area
This was a little distressing to get through (I started thinking of my dog, a Greyhound named Lennox I adopted last year after my whippet Basil had to be put to sleep), & before a fellow Greyhound owner kindly gave me a spare harness (I've been tight with money), my cheeky friend has had a few occasions where he was able to free himself of the collar. I just thought of walking him on this bridge before I had the harness, & I got a little distressed.
This is still an interesting video though. Just makes me want to cuddle my doggie even more. Thanks for sharing. Hope you enjoy the rest of your trip. This time last year I was in London for nearly the entirety of November, so its kind of interesting you're spending a similar amount of time there like I did.
Great video! Beautiful places you are visiting! 👍👍👍👍
Thank you for going under the bridge. It was very interesting to look there!
Always wanted to see that bridge. It breaks my heart about the stories. I was so surprised to get on RUclips and see you posted this video!!!! Bad Booty Micheal and Jess! Always keeping me entertained AND learning!🤘👏
Liked the way you went across and down below the bridge to see what it looks like.
Omg can’t imagine cleaning that castle - sad to hear about the bridge.. I love my dogs .. beautiful two ppl Michael & Jessica - my heritage is Celtic -Scot, Irish..
That poor boy murdered by his heartless Dad. I hope that that boy was recovered. I agree about the palace/estate itself - it’s gorgeous.
That Palace is amazing! Great story on everything.
I’ve heard stories about this creepy haunted location.
Hi Michael and Jessica! I am watching your video right now and I love your videos and channel. Thank you for posting this video. That castle is huge. You guys are awesome and amazing.
The Scottish Grimms has a good ring to it
I demand a dna test, they must be Scottish!
Good morning Grimmlife Happy Sunday Michael and Jessica hope you guys are well today
I'd love to live in a castle made of stone. The only thing that deters me is the fact that many of them if not all are haunted.
That one definitely is. There was also a murder there at one time, if I'm not mistaken.
Though i was born there you couldn't pay me enough to stay the night there 👻😱😨
You were born at the town where the castle is ?@@rainblaze.
The people that let their pooch run across it off leash, are crazy! I would never take a chance! Great video!
I saw many stories on this, just so strange! 💚💚😎😎What a fantastic view!!! That castle in the background is Amazing!!! 🥰😍
So when I was there I got down low as if I was a dog. From there hight it almost looks like that gap is an exit from the bridge, more so than any other gap there. Definitely thought the sound of the river was louder at that spot and I wondered if dogs just thought it was the way out. The whole place gave me the creeps
