@@paulmcdonough1093not really, Scotland is about 100 years older than England, and has way more castles and “creepy” places. Most of which can be found in the forests/woods because of warring clans etc .. although England has the oldest castle that’s partly still in use 🏰

We need to isolate and enhance the voices to see what they are saying.. When i heard them, i thought for sure someone else was there like a care taker who saw them go in and was about to tell them to get out… or a tour group showed up. But to find it wasn’t anybody was freaky to say the least.

The tunnel reminds me of an oubliette. A dark, tight, and horrifying place where people were left alone to die. The oubliette was the most feared part of a castle dungeon. If you look at the walls and ceiling of the tunnel, they are intact. It's like the rubble was piled up to make the place more horrible.

I do think you're right that it would have been an upper floor though, when they first look in to the room from the barred up windows, you can see what looks like an old doorway at the far end of the room. I can't help feeling like it would have felt quite claustrophobic though, being a room entirely of arches. Even though people were shorter back then, that would have made it very long and thin with only the central point to stand up in 🤔 hmm makes me wonder what it was used for! I wish we could know

I would like to inform you that it is your respect and appreciation for the location and the goblins that kept you safe in this location. Goblins are far different from the rumors spread about us.
Also, because you seem curious, few goblin are "cute", though it's not unheard of, most goblin have sharp teeth and no goblin would ever eat human flesh. Hobgoblin are the exception, they're the ones cast out from goblin society. However it's still unheard of with them, just possible.
Also you may have gained a new spirit friend or two. If this is the case they will be surprisingly respectful and pranky at the most opportune times. though it may take some reflection or patience to understand how the pranks are beneficial.

Like someone also had said when you view the roof and the walls of the stairwell, its all intact, so to say there was a cave-in, it seems like it was blocked deliberately to stop anyone from venturing further down the stairs, maybe to block what was supposed to be still down there? if you were to move those stones the steps would possibly still be under and would probably have continued deeper. Those voice like sounds deep in the stairwell were something.
As someone pointed out there was no bird poo in sight anywhere and you would have heard at least fluttering sounds if there was a bird anywhere in there.
Fascinating and also an inspirational site.

The stairs reminded me of the part of Snow White where The Evil Queen descends to get into her boat as the hag to go after Snow White. Very mystical evil yet mysterious like.

This was an incredible place. Didn't expect that you could enter the place. And all those steps... just waiting for a ghost to show up.
Scotland is definitive on my bucket list.
Thanks again Jessica and Michael. And Happy Halloween. 👻🎃🖤🖤🖤🖤🎃👻

Okay! Wow, Wow, and Wow. Thank you for going into that castle. Voices, Whoa! Was someone outside? OMG! So excited, I was when you went down the stairs, then the claustrophobia set in. Yikes. So cool it was open. Oh, and that stream and bridge. Magical!

Sir Didymus and his faithful steed Ambrosius must have been taking a day of to let you pass the bridge over the the bog of eternal stench 🤣🤙🏻. Love it though as always a highlight of my day seeing a Grimm video for me to see especially on my home the uk 🫶🏻. You didn’t say though was there other visitors? Or was the voices potentially EVP’s?.

I can attempt to decode the myth. The builder of this castle used captives from another (unknown) place, who were skilled at masonry. He had lured them there under some false pretence ("deal with the devil"), and, once there, they were put to work. As they were foreign, with strange customs and looks, the locals (seeing them from afar) eventually came up with "goblins". Having built the castle, he disposed of the builders by asking them to build a tunnel (the one with stairs going down) to trick them (again). As you will note, the tunnel's walls are very well made. When sufficient of them (perhaps all) were down there, he sealed up or collapsed the entrance, in effect murdering them. The tale of the pear reflects the truth about the family who lived there. They had no wealth (wealth is represented by the fruit) - so when she went to look for the actual wealth she found it was just stone (i.e. they had the castle and the reputation of being nobles, and absolutely nothing else). Its illusion shattered, the family could no longer obtain lines of credit, so that was the end of their fortune.

I LOVE the mystery landscape of this area, GriMMs!... Beautiful Scotland vegetation---- boy, that creek!.... I'm jealous! Such a picturesque land, Scotland is.... If you see a Goblin/Troll, watch out for those riddles. They may ask questions like, "What's your favorite color?" (Ha!).... LOVE it GriMMs, I will need to watch this one in 2- parts, cause of my schedule, but I LOVE it!.... Happy Halloween!.... :^)""""""""""""""
