I just feel like I need to point out how you two are just such an inspiration, you genuinely go the extra mile to make sure everyone is being safe every step of the way if fans do want to explore this for themselves.
I truly love this.
Thank you for the kind words…hope you enjoy the adventure. Happy Halloween 🎃
You guys are doing everything I would love to do. I’ve done similar creepy escapades in my past. I’m 68 now so my adventures will be lived through your wonderful videos.
I agree 🖤

I would like to add something: NEVER underestimate the danger of the tide in Scotland, and ALWAYS wear a helmet if you stand near or under cliffs, ESPECIALLY if you go into caves. Scottish caves are very prone to rockfall and collapse due to heavy erosion, and the rocks are often slimy and very slippery underfoot. Also, ALWAYS tell someone else where you are going and at what time. If nobody knows you are missing, nobody will come look for you.
Please take care out there everyone. Scotland is a wild and temperamental landscape that kills frequently and unsympathetically.
Great video BTW guys, would love to bump into you in the highlands soon ;)
Great advice
Thank you
I was thinking the same thing watching this. I was very relieved when they were back out and safe!
We have been in caves all over Scotland and never worn helmets. This is because we were too poor to buy a helmet and people wern't nancy boys about getting hurt. None of us ever got hurt, no falling rocks hitting us. We would climb down/up the cliff to get Fulmar eggs etc, climb big massive trees, spend whole days exploring the countryside. My playing fields as an adult was Spean Bridge. I would hitch hike from there to Dundee just to get a smoke, in the height of winter, when the A9 is closed. People are too soft now.
@@MagpieNews777agreed , I walked miles as a kid , did everything you mentioned and more 😮. Yeah I broke a few bones but I have done that 30 yds from home.
So, here's my take, as a Scotsman who's been fascinated with the Sawney Bean story his whole life. The general consensus amongst historians is that the story was probably fabricated by the English monarchy as a form of propaganda against the Scots to paint us as feral savages. It's worth noting that at the time, "sawney" was a fairly insulting nickname for Scots. In my opinion, if Alexander Bean ever did exist, he was probably just a hermit who used the caves for shelter and robbed passing travellers to survive. He maybe killed a couple to cover his tracks, and the brutality of these attacks gained him a good deal of infamy. But everything else, the inbreeding, the cannibalism, that's probably all been embellished over the centuries like a game of historic Chinese whispers. But he'll always be real in my heart ♥
yeah i like the other version better.
@@samsterling1462 as do I, but realistically there's very little evidence to suggest the Bean clan actually existed.
I like ur take ,it sounds more logical 😉
I always suspect this from old legends like that, cheers
Although likely a myth, it's unlikely it was invented as a libel against the Scots, because it was first circulated in pamphlets that collected crime and horror stories from around the UK - and mostly from England, not Scotland.
Being Scottish myself I've grown up hearing about this legend. But to see the scenery and caves brings it to life. Kudos for actually going into the caves....and it's really creepy!!Amazing to see a couple from LA doing this!!.....respect!
How about Christie Cleek?
Jessica’s face in the beginning of the video said it all. “It’s too early for this sh*t” 😂
It did say that, it also said I can't act myself because I'm fake as hell

I absolutely love how down-to-earth you two are. I'm in my 60s now and my dad is the one who encouraged my love of horror, paranormal, cryptozoology, and science fiction because he loved these things too. Yay, Jessica! So proud of you! You're such a badass for conquering your anxiety and seeing that spooky, but lovely place! Thanks for taking us on this journey!
Quit feeding into anxiety like it’s crippling. It’s nonsense
Got to love Scottish folk lore, you must have had a great time here! This is why i love where i live as we have so many stories and myths that people dont know if they are real or fake, i have to say though the Sawney Bean cave is creepy as hell and i fully believe it happened despite people proclaiming it didnt....

And that is the ONLY way I would have went in, by seeing it on RUclips only, definitely NOT in person.....
The giant boulder blocking the cave entrance resembles a skull from a distance. Very fitting. Love it.

That was a kick ass movie. Seen it when I was 17 at the drive-in with my future husband. I'm 62 now😊
Are you still married?
My mom watched the movie in the theater. She said it was one of the scariest movies and it made an impression.
17.. 62 now? Google says the movie came out in 2006.. the math isn't mathing? Lol
@@high_fructose_corn_syrup😂😂😂 there is an original version in the 70's, although I only watched the remake.

The original. Wes Craven's The Hills Have Eyes. 1977.🙂
THE RE-MAKE IS 2006.

Its really creepy that they went for 25 years undetected in a cave doing all those gory things.
because they were scared when they saw the jim morrison poster on the wall......
They didn't exist
After watching your video yesterday I decided to do some additional reading up on Sawney Bean. At work today, I brought up the legend relaying it to some co-workers. I held their attention as I relayed the legend to them and in the end told them how this story was the inspiration for the movie, "The Hills Have Eyes." When asked how I heard about this, I referred them to your channel. Though I am a subscriber, I feel I may have given you a few more subscribers. They were not aware of your work but I've been told that they looked your channel up and subscribed as well. I wish you both the best and thank you for your time and dedication. --Steve
In all these years I never knew that "The Hills Have Eyes" was based on true events. I don't know how I missed that, unless I forgot. I guess you learn something everyday! Ty for the tour it was fun and educational.💖✨💫
Sawney Bean never existed. it's a fantastic myth, it's actually a made up story by the English.
There's more urban legend than fact in this tale
I'm not sure how "true" it is. It's more likely that its roots are mostly in English propaganda. "The crazy Scottish clan of incestuous cannibals that killed over 1000 people"
New to your channel! This story came across my path on RUclips and I must say IM GLAD IT DID..,You two are amazing…thank you for your work you all do.Now off to marathon watch more videos of yours!

The boulder from a far looks like a giant skull. I'd be scared to death. thank you for taking us on the adventure with you.
yes! I saw the same thing
The entire thing?
Or most of it or..?
Yes! Very creepy.
They couldn't pay me a billion dollars to go inside that creepy cave....

We are always searching for ways to make each day as interesting as the day before. Thank you for taking the time to watch
Anytime! I know this story, being a true crime buff/addict, but had never seen this detail. So "fun" 😊 traveling with you guys.
I think Jessica is not safe at all wearing city boots in that terrain. She should use hiking shoes or hiking boots when making those climbs or just for going outdoors. It would be a shame if she slips and hurts herself or if she just ruins that pair of nice boots that she wears. There are 100% black hiking boots with very nice designs, some of which even look a little bit goth. 😉
This is crazy impressive! Y’all are my favorite storytellers. This one is gonna haunt me to think about
Thank you, and yes…this story still haunts us
Thank you for taking us on this adventure. It's wonderful to see the world thru your eyes and see things I know I will never see. I have genuinely enjoyed your channel for the last year. Thank you for all your efforts.
Thanks for taking us along with you . Epic content once again 🦇
Great filming guys. Thank you for doing this video.
The whole thing was unbelievably well done. From end to finish. And the drone footage was just icing on the cake.
We're planning a trip to Scotland, and you've definitely given us some more destination ideas!!! Thank you so much for taking us on another incredible journey!!!
If you go anywhere near Loch Lomond and Ben Lomond, on the bank a little walk up from the main walkers start point (on the side of the loch where Ben Lomond and Inversnaid are), you'll come across a cave/hidey hole that Rob Roy used to hide in when being pursued! There's a dark metal stake near it, but you have to twist your body as you go in. A bit of a drop, but it's bone dry inside 😊
What brave souls ye Grimms be! We’ve walked past the heart near St Giles and had no clue that there was a prison there. Thank you for taking us on your incredible adventures and making it all look so beautiful!
The camera shot at 25:20 when you turned your light off was wild. So jealous

Thanks for braving the supernatural to shoot this.... Which was amazing cinematography (probably because they were using a REAL camera)😂!! 🤘😎
Absolutely incredible! One of my most favorite gory movies. You always present so much information! Thank you!
If i remember correctly the only reason the Bean clan was discovered was because it was low tide when the soldiers were searching for them.
Oh man, I legitimately heard that loud thump noise too. I thought it sounded like someone jumping off the boulder at the entrance and landing inside the cave. What an incredible episode 🎃👻
Being from Girvan myself, this was an excellently shot piece of folklore, thanks 🙏🏻

So beautiful, the music works wonders with it. Thank you for taking me on your journey. xx
The British Isles wouldn't normally have venomous spiders. But every now and again exotic spiders come in with the banana ships etc, and escape into people's homes. (The spiders hide among the bananas and get carried home from the shops). I'd be weary of spiders anywhere because of that. Also, wild breeding venomous spiders are slowly working their way north in Europe as the climate gets warmer. There is one that has made it up to the coast of Brittany (forgot which one, and I can't google it since I'm arachnophobic). Thanks for the video.
This is incredible, and fabulously told. ❤ Fantastic episode guy's. 👏👏👏👏
WOAH. I saw a graffiti tag in the cave that said "LED ZEP" and that freaked me out because thats EXACTLY what my license plate reads. Zeppelin fans in the most peculiar places, I suppose haha
@calebb95 - Probably some Zep-head on a Scottish pilgrimage on his way to find Jimmy Page's/Aleister Crowley's former home, Boleskine House, stopping off at some gory places first. 😂
Can you imagine in 1600 they had a charnel house of bones with parts pickled and ready to eat 👳👳🏿👳 come the 1970's it's roll a spliff or take a tab and dream of Crowley and zep@@villanelle8888

I was a Paratrooper and Air Assault in the Military back in the mid 80's. Rode motorcycles and jet skies when young. Now that I'm fat and old. I'm afraid to do anything dangerous. 😅
Welcome to Scotland, peeps. I hope you enjoy your time here. 🙋🏴🥃 And I loved The People Under the Stairs as a kid, but I didn't know that was Wes Craven 😱 Everett McGill in his gimp mask always freaked me out. 🥴🤣
I'm so proud of you two. I remember how we talked about this topic and now you finally did it. My fear of heights would have kicked in much earlier, so you two are fearless, crazy adventurers. Thanks for this amazing video and for letting people know the true story behind The Hills Have Eyes. Fun fact, in Germany they are not cannibals, instead they are aliens from the planet mars who crashed here. Funny censorship.
It was really really really surreal to be at the cave site. And it’s crazy how stories change over regions and years.
I had no idea about that!. Aliens?, weird!.
Thank you both for another great video! Honestly one of my favorite channels on RUclips! Safe travels, friends!! :)

I remember climbing down there when I was like 12 my legs were cut to shreds from the ferns
This is amazing to see and experience. Growing up with a Scottish Mum, I had countless books bought for me on Scotland's ghost, gouls and horrors as I was truly fascinated beyond belief. I am about halfway through and I am terrified. Loving every second. What a beautiful haunting video on a story new to me. I am right at the bit with you guys entering the cave. I am filled with ominous fear, and I love that Michael is horrified by birds. Here we are going into the scariest place ever and Michael is like “Birds, why did it have to birds” you both are epic thanks for one of you best videos ever.
Very cool! Was completely unfamiliar with the story. Gory stuff indeed! 😱

Awesome vid Michael & Jessica. Scotland has such interesting history. That was a small cave to house 48 people. But they were most definitely not normal. Happy Halloween 🎃🎃🎃

Kick ass video!! My first video on this channel and I loved it! I have always wanted to see this place and you two did such a good job that I feel like I have actually been there! I also love the way you try to take us back in time with the imagine what it was like to be a soldier walking in that cave for the first time in the 1500s! Awesome job!
That is a well concealed and a very deep cave I can see people living in there and eating people, and the smell would be nasty

Baby Ghoul, I'm one of those too, but I'm really proud of you Sista, stepping up and confronting what you fear. I, on the other hand, would take the drone view and enjoy this awesome video by the Grimms!! With the best narration this side of RUclips, the history and research you put into every video makes you come back for MORE!!
This story especially is very nerving. I always feel like the movie makers, dangle a little bit of the truth in front of you and all you have to have is an open mind and consider all possibilities!!
Thank you both for another outstanding video and taking the risks. Please, BE SAFE!!

PS: I stopped at 28:00, the time you might of heard people coming, i had already said to STOP, don't go in there with the spiders and the extremely tight chambers, that's enough.
