    I have been using my XMG Fusion 15 for half a year now, I bought it based on this review among others. It's an excellent laptop. The battery life is a bit shorter than expected and I have used better trackpads. But the screen is vibrant and fast (this is my first computer screen with anything more than 60%), I absolutely love to type on the mechanical keyboard, and the performance is what you would expect from this hardver. The best thing, however, is thermal performance. XMG probably uses different power limits than Aftershock, becuase I get playable FPS in Silent mode as well (the lowest setting), only about 15-20% less than in Balanced. That means 100+ FPS in Doom Eternal, for instance, at 39-40 decibels! And if I ever need more juice, I put on Balanced, which is still quiet for a gaming laptop (44-45 decibels).

    Great Review Jarrod. I know you've answered similar questions in regards to the difference between this and the Aero 15 OLED, and I'm trying to decide between the two. My main concern is fan noise. While I understand in performance mode this machine can be quite loud, which one of the two machines is the quieter version.

    • @JarrodsTech
      @JarrodsTech  4 года назад

      Thanks! The results are all in the videos, so all I can really do is go back and listen to the fan noise like you would 😛 after checking the results, at max the Aero was a little louder, but that's assuming you stick the fan at max speed, with the Aero for instance if you have a custom fan curve it won't necessarily hit that, whereas there is very minimal fan control with this one.

    • @blueboots
      @blueboots 4 года назад

      Thanks For confirming that! Think I’ll go with the Vapor as it’s all about fan noise for me. Currently on a surface book1, and while it’s great, I’m finding I’m needed more grunt.

    Two years late to the party here but it's on a very good sale in Sweden right now: Looking at the average TDP reaching about 90 watts for performance mode. Would a smaller 120-180 W charger do the job keeping it fueled? I think that the charger is a bit unproportionally heavy. I have found alternatives from the XMG Core that's about half the weight, bringing the total weight down to the low 2 kg rather than the high ones.

    Great review - I really like this laptop. If you do a review of the 2070 version I would love to see how it compares to the 1660. The price difference between the two may be worth the upgrade.
    One possible fault I want to point out is that this laptop apparently does NOT support charging over the USB-C port. So if you’re travelling you cannot use a power pack to top up the laptop’s battery - unless you happen to be carrying a power pack that has an ac outlet which will also support the laptop power brick’s needs.

    After about five months of research and then waiting I'm thinking seriously about Eluktronic's new gamer line but my only question is about the "mouse". I'm used to ones with a click-button, even though I don't always use the button sometimes it's nice to have that *extra* tactile feedback so I would love to know how much of a difference is it with a "mouse" that doesn't have that button? Is it weird? Does it bother those that are used to it to not have it?
    (I primarily use my laptop in my living room... on my lap. So, though I am aware I could just attach an actual mouse for that click button, it is rare that I am able to use one).

While one can write to support to request the drivers, this is raising a question of Aftershock commitment to their products. One great point as it seems so many laptops are taking this out having an "mic jack" AND "headphone jack." Using audio sometimes there are mixers that have software and you can use USB-A, but there are times one needs to use the "mic jack" when wanting to record audio. For this reason this is a great interest of mine. Don't really do any gaming but Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Music Editing (Presonus Studio One) and also dj'ing (Traktor, Rekordbox, VDJ) are the main things I would be using. I just received my MAG-15, I also have newest Dell XPS 15 and MSI PS65 Stealth. I am comparing all of them together after doing all the updates on all of them, 9750H and 1660Ti on the MAG and the MSI, and GTX1650 on the Dell. I love when I can use the Fn function keys without having to press the Fn key and you cannot do that on either the MSI or the MAG but at least on the MSI the screen brightness and volume buttons are on the arrow keys so it is a one hand operation. That is a huge deal to me because it is something you touch everyday. I don't like how the MSI doesn't have Windows Hello or fingerprint that the other two have. But those are design choices the companies made.
    One thing that I cannot understand with the laptops is their battery life. While they all have large battery sizes (approx KWh MSI 84, MAG 93, Dell 94). Running all of them undervolted at the same -.145V. I turned on a full screen 1080p RUclips video in the most battery conscious setting (Fan Off as well), according to BatteryMon the Dell is discharging at 8000mW while both the MSI and MAG discharge at 12000mW....THAT IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE How does Dell do that?
