@@zaidanmockbill7818 one of the things I like the most about Jared is that he responds to everyone's comment, even those recently commented on videos months old.
I totally agree with your pick for Beat Value Gaming Laptop. I picked myself up a 17" version of the Acer Predator Helios 300 (9750H, 1660Ti, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, RGB KB) for about $1450. And I had just barely missed the sale for it too, I believe it was going for $1250 around Black Friday, whixh was an insane deal. I've had it for about 3 weeks now and man do I love this thing. The extra screen is awesome, something I'd happily trade off for portability anyday. I don't think there's any way for me to go back to a smaller screen now. But I owe my thanks to you tho Jarrod, there were so many options and it was so hard to choose, but watching your videos made it so much easier to choose. Keep up the great work man. Cheers to a great 2020! 👍
Thank you, Jarrod. I've bought Lenovo Legion Y540 with i7-9750H and 1660ti after your review, and I'm really happy to use this machine. It can absolutely everything and do anything without problems.
For me, the laptop of the year was the Lenovo Y740 17.3" (RTX 2080 Max-Q version) Excellent and active cooling at a relatively low noise level, it handles heavy games wonderfully, it's great for creative work, the 144hz monitor is clean, bright and colourful and it has 1TB of SSD Storage, what's not to like. The downside with it was its price point. I'm sure you're able to get something cheaper in the same category, but since I got it on black friday, where it was around 500-600 dollars off in Denmark, I couldn't really factor that in. Else, it would've been way too expensive.
Thank you so much for making this video! I was on the fence on choosing between Asus GX502GW and MSI GS75, where I was able to find the latter laptop sellingfor $2500 AUD. However, after viewing all your videos relating to GX502GW and seeing the overwhelming positive notes given to it, I decided to go with this laptop over MSI. The only downsides for going for GX502GW is the fact that it costs $3100 AUD (cheapest I could find atm) which, it goes over my initial budget of $3000 AUD. Also, I'd probably need to get another stick of RAM which would cost additional $100 AUD. Unfortunately, ever since the release of GX502GW in Australia, I didn't see this laptop going on sale anywhere so that's a bit of a shame. Though, thanks for your reviews, I believe that it might be a worthwhile investment where it'll suit my gaming and portability needs.
this is a great summary. I am going to say that for me the keyboard on the 17inch Zephyrus was one of the selling points as I prefer it that way. But I can see how that may be personal preference. Just like the fact that the camera is not built-in (again, I like it better that way). I love everything about this laptop and it is an absolute beast. This is a great channel. Helped me make some decisions. Thank you, sir!
I have to say, after seeing the reviews from you and other sources, I pulled the trigger on the predator helios 300 and couldn't be more happy. Sure, the fans sound like it's doing to take off if I game on it, but I'm using it connected to a monitor in lieu of a desktop and I can take it with me when I travel. It has a full number pad (Important to me) and enough screen to use excel capably. Anxiously awaiting your CES coverage because I feel like AMD is going to have some really compelling options in 2-3 years.
Good to hear! Yeah I'm keen to get there and check it out, it will be interesting, it will take me about 24 hours of flying to get there then I have 2 back to back meetings the day before it even begins haha, so hopefully I can get some early info/videos before sleeping for ever.

Lenovo y540 user? ❤️ Man gotta say the perfect laptop for everything.... Update on battery - i get atleast 3.5 hours of usage :D Use it daily for around 8 hours 👍🏻
Thank you, based on your review, when I did see a new Y540 (9300-1660ti, 8gb, 128ssd+1To, windows10) at 799€... I jumped on it... and don’t regret it at all... ;)
Thanx for good reviews, and guidance for my latop-purchase. Ended up with a y540, i7 9750h, rtx2060, 1tb storage, 144hz screen and 16gb ram for a very good price here in Norway during black friday.
I bought an Acer 300 Helios, 144 Hertz following your reviews. Although I did buy the 2060 version and I'm currently upgrading the 2.5 in HDD and have just stuck in 32GB of corsair RAM. Happy with it so far.
@@26_rafiarya12 , what do you mean by wot? 2 x 16GB of DDR4 2666 corsair vengeance RAM = 32GB. Some of my work related stuff will be very happy for the extra RAM.
Jarrod, thank you for your reviews! They helped me to get detailed laptop testing results and a much valued opinion on certain laptops that I have considered to buy for personal use. Thank you for doing reviews at quite a high pace through the year, must have been a nightmare to compile so much data so quick at times :) You always had a review coming up or already on the channel of any laptop I had in mind through 2019! Having tried Razer Blade 17 (2080MaxQ) I did not like the very shallow keyboard, I found it even worse than on my old Razer Blade 14, plus size and weight wise this was too much for me and needed something smaller and lighter for travels. One thing to note, gaming performance on it was phenomenal. So my choice for 2019 was between Aero and later (thanks to your channel) Asus GX502GW! On Aero, again, personally I had ergonomics issues with edge to edge full keyboard in 15inch form factor device... Simply uncomfortable. Great battery life and good CPU performance though. But, Asus GX502GW was my choice in the end! Now good few months and I love it. My machine can undervolt a little bit beyond your test unit and I also had it re-pasted to improve thermal performance. 2070 MaxP and G-Sync screen is best compact (sub 2Kg, 15 inch) on the go gaming experience I ever had! :)
Unfortunately HP don't send me review units and they cost too much in my country for me to buy just to review, sorry. I've tried everything to make this happen. I've sent countless emails to every address I can find, made phone calls, even met with their staff at various events and exchanged business cards but nothing has come of it, so I can only assume they're not interested.
Couldn't see it in the comments but the video has a bit of a moment at 14:34 but you're logo didn't. Also interested why the MAG 15 was included in the thin + powerful?
It's just warp stabilizier in premiere not being great for how shakey the original footage was, as I filmed that handheld. I didn't consider it to be powerful enough, the options I mentioned all go up to RTX 2080 Max-Q and perform well, whereas the MAG is capped at 2070 Max-Q but based on my own testing it's hardly any better than the 1660 Ti.
The y740 has the best gaming laptop screen out right now with avg 430 nit sustained brightness and great color reproduction. G sync, hdr400 (albeit low HD cert) along with 144hz and 10ms rt makes it a much stronger contender for the 1-2k range :) justmy thoughts. Thanks Jarrod. Everything everyone is saying about how well you're doing and how much more we can't wait to watch this year is so true man! Well done. You're on your way to 1m subs!
Cheers Sean! I think the 740 has a 500 nit panel option so yeah nice and bright there, also G-Sync on the cheaper side compared to many alternatives out there.
@@D-- I have one, is a bit heavier than my last laptop, but I did some research and Helios is one of the lighters gaming laptops for that specs and price. I would go for Acer Triton if I had more money to invest tho, because it is even lighter.
Love the video but as someone that is currently looking to buy a laptop I would like to see prices for a few different specs for each one a bit more consistently
I intentionally didn't lay it out that way, because I have no idea what machines are from different price ranges. Basically I wouldn't have been able to do a good job of it so didn't sort that way.

I own the Modern 14 $899 model that has the 10th gen i5, 8gbs of ram, and an MX250. At this price point it is perfect for a college student (like myself) wanting it for school and light gaming. The alternative to this is the Razer Blade Stealth 13 which costs $1300 for an i7, 16gbs of ram, and an MX150. Razer Blade Stealth 13 is a better laptop but considering the price difference I had to go with the Modern 14 and it's getting the job done. Edit: The Modern 14 models have two fans unlike the Prestige 14 models which have one so heating won't be an issue with the Modern 14. Don't buy the Prestige 14 model unless you plan on undervolting.

I just bought an Asus Zephyrus S 15.6" thin today! It's just the RTX 2060, but as someone with a terrible Acer Aspire ES 15 (with 4gb RAM and 500 HDD), I think it'll be quite the improvement. I've been watching your videos for a solid 10 days to help me decide. Thanks for your work! It's helped me tremendously.
Hey Jarrod! I've got three absolutely huge questions! Please answer them! Which would be better and how would they be different, Getting the Helios 300 With the RTX 2060 version and getting the triton 500 RTX 2060 version. Which is better and how are they different? On amazon the helios 300 with the RTX 2060 Is a tad more expensive. Second question: Using the Elgato hd60S, can you record gameplay using only one laptop, like play and record on the same laptop, no other monitors involved? Third and final question, is having a moniter linked to your laptop good, will it be faster or better? Thanks again Jarrod!, you're the best
Helios will probably have higher CPU power limit as its a bit thicker, undervolt is higher out of the box, so will probably perform better. Triton has Thunderbolt, depends if you care about that, slightly thinner and different design with upside down motherboard makes upgrades harder, I'd go Helios. Sorry no experience with any of the elgato stuff so not sure how it works, my guess is you connect it via HDMI or some display output so the signal goes through it? If that's the case may need external monitor, but I do not know for sure. Using an external monitor will boost game FPS though, as this bypasses Optimus. Most laptops have Optimus, so the Intel integrated graphics is wired to the display and the Nvidia GPU processes the game and sends the frames via the Intel GPU to the display, using an external monitor bypasses this process as most gaming laptops have display outputs wired directly to the Nvidia graphics.
Really wish you coulda snuck a Metabox Prime-V review in, in time for this. Am just about to get myself an Xmas present, and although I like the style of others in the price range better, for value for money (and 12mths interest free) the Metabox Alpha-X NH58RD is what I'm just about to buy. But I certainly considered the Scar III, Triton 500, Auros 15WA, Apex 15, based on your reviews, and the aforementioned Prime V. But don't think G-Sync and Thunderbolt will be that big a deal for my needs. The bottom line here is, I couldn't have made such an informed decision without your channel, Jarrod. It was a minefield at first, but going through your videos helped me understand what I was really looking for. Love your work mate, here's to 2020!
Thanks, great to hear! I have the Prime-V here, but won't get a chance to get to it til next year, just too much on my plate until I get back from CES 2020 (need to try do MSI Prestige 14, Lenovo Y7000, Lenovo Y545, Acer nitro/helios/triton comparison, Triton 900, Blade Stealth before I leave in 2 weeks)

For my usage I'm quite happy with my FX505DD, although in hindsight I shouldn't have gone for the GTX1050 model (and the fans seem to spin up fairly often on AC even when just web browsing, unless I use the silent profile that reduces performance). Given how in depth your testing is, reviewing that many laptops in a year is a heck of an achievement, well done :-D
Im planning to buy asus tuf fx505 in this Christmas with 1050 and 8gb ram, rayzen processor 256ssd and 1T hdd, I hope its good laptop, what do you think?
the 1650 one is pretty good. it doesn't really matter if you get the 3550h with it or the 3750h with it, although the 3750h will be better for you. If you're thinking about upgrades, upgrade storage and RAM if possible because it comes in single channel

I've been watching your videos for quite some time man. They're awesome and you dive deep into every detail. My friend's been looking for a gaming laptop for almost a year now. His budget is around 1000$ to 1200$. I suggested him the Lenovo Legion Y540 and the Acer Helios 300. But someone bugged his mind about the poor thermal performance of Lenovo gaming laptops, which clearly isn't the case with Y540. So, please suggest me the current best at that price point. It'll be a great help if I could convince him to get one before he loses hope. I'll be really happy for him! Best regards! Have an awesome day! Keep up the good work.
thanks! Honestly I don't really have much else to suggest, at that price point those are the only two I would currently look at out of the machines I've been able to personally test so far

Dk much about specs and stuff like that but want to pay more for a laptop that’s going to still be great in like 2 to 3 years and can still handle current games. Thanks for the advice!
Tq, I just wanna ask you one thing.. I'm a software programmer, a data scientist to be precise.. would you recommend Lenovo L340 for my professional use rather than gaming because my work involves handling neural networking, image handling, building machine learning models.. it costs around 750USD in India or should I go for MSI GF63 which is 50USD higher than L340?
Having a blast with a GS65 but it wasn't even mentioned right (edit: it's mentioned on the go, 10:02 but wasn't tested)? its an amazing build when undervolted.

Glad I could help and good to hear it's going well!
How’s the battery life?
Awesome summary of 2019 for gaming laptops Jarrod! Your hardwork is inspiring. 😊
Cheers Ivan!
For me, the laptop of the year was the Lenovo Y740 17.3" (RTX 2080 Max-Q version)
Excellent and active cooling at a relatively low noise level, it handles heavy games wonderfully, it's great for creative work, the 144hz monitor is clean, bright and colourful and it has 1TB of SSD Storage, what's not to like.
The downside with it was its price point. I'm sure you're able to get something cheaper in the same category, but since I got it on black friday, where it was around 500-600 dollars off in Denmark, I couldn't really factor that in. Else, it would've been way too expensive.
Oh hello there, Arcien. Didn't expect to see you here. You got good music.
@@ParallaxPromotions Oh wow, thank you so much!

Arcien I agree, that machine is perfectly balanced.

No problem! Yeah definitely not cheap, but yeah should perform very well with the extra memory!
this is a great summary.

That's good to hear! I'm glad you were able to get one that works well for you 👌

What about dell G7..??

Lenovo y540 gang!
