Zotac offers some mini models with really great performance, like the Zotac Magnus series. But the issue is the price, them often being more expensive than a similarly equipped laptop.
My primary use case for the mini pc's is home entertainment - 4k streaming, console emulation, general light-ish PC gaming, that sort of thing. The 680m will play older things like Black Mesa, Fallout 3/4, Blur, Road Redemption and so on at 1080p and generally ~60FPS (running on a 60hz refresh TV). If you aren't adverse to FSR then these mini pc's will serve for more demanding titles as well, so they aren't a total failure on that front. Have not had much opportunity to test my 790pro yet (780m and DDR5 5600MT) but they seem around 30% faster overall on average.
@@EX5_SPACCAyeah but you need the whole monitor, mouse, and keyboard which aren’t really portable like a laptop whereas you only need the laptop and maybe a mouse

Second, you need to go to the bios, change the vrai allocation to 8gig (you got 32, not a problem) and ajustement thr fan curve. The basic setting limits the fans and you lose a lot of performance over too much heat. It's decent, I usually play snowrunner and disblo4 medium settings with it

Just a suggestion to you folks, consider having a direct comparison between the devices reviewed because it makes it easier to the viewer to acknowledge the differences and maybe have a better decision in buying the relevant device.
@@joejones6968 He is right, its a stupid comparison "Laptop with discrete GPU vs mini pc with no GPU." This comparison gets even less relevant given minisforum has the HX99G which is Ryzen 9 6900hx and an RX 6650m gpu. I actually just grabbed a barebones for ~$700 which was basically that laptops price point.
I moved from a 17" MSI running an 11th gen i7 and a 3050ti to a $200 bare bones UM560 with an AMD 5600H APU Mini PC (I had 32GB DDR4, and a 512 NVME laying around) 8GB of RAM dedicated to the GPU, not that it will use all that. I travel a lot and the mini PC has really shined connecting to the TVs in the hotels I spend my evenings in. I carry a 60% wireless keyboard and a wireless mouse. It is much easier traveling with the mini PC, I won't go back. With that said, I am limited with some newer games, so I will likely be buying an HX99G or an HX77G in the near future unless minisforum brings out a better dedicated GPU mini PC. I was watching the Khadas Mind series, but they have gone crazy on the prices, even with the desktop 4060 8GB in their GPU dock.
Maybe I will go for an external USB-C monitor with touch. For performing live music I would not need a keyboard and mouse. I also think there would be less fan noise than with a laptop as the pc is further away. Also in my opinion gaming laptops are heavy and battery life can be an issue. Edit: this week I changed my mind. I got the GPD WIN Max 2 with a 10" touch screen and a resolution of 2550 x 1600 and it has an amazing performance. Maybe not the best for gaming, but its ultra portable. I can play Age of Wonders on high (just started..) and World of Warcraft on Ultra settings in the older worlds.
Mini PCs are only good at the $300-$400 range. From $500 and higher, DIY PCs and laptops are better and never look back. That said, I'm happy with my Beelink SER5 Max (R7 5800H, 32GB DDR4-3200, Vega 8).

Yeah. Dedicated GPU vs iGPU is not really useful for a gamer. More useful was the form factor comparison. Not everyone has space for a large Gaming rig in their Play space.
Not a very apples to apples comparison given you didn't use discrete graphics on the mini PC. There's several models out there under $800 that come with a Ryzen 7 or 9 and an RX 6600M.
Who with a limited budget buys a sound bar? I would lower the budget to make the comparison fairer, ok to include the monitor and the mouse, but that's about it. See how much the mini PC costs with that and then get a same priced laptop. Else it doesn't look fair to me. Having said that the laptop is clearly bottlenecking due to the lack of RAM, you can see it with both the CPU and GPU hovering around 50% utilization. Thanks for the video.
6.2 GB memory usage sitting idle on the mini pc. That is sketchy. Probably not getting full performance if there is that much bloatware running in background😂
I feel like the way you spent so much money on the screen which is much larger and higher refresh rate for the many PC makes this not really a real comparison.
I don't care how much they hype up APUs, the day an APU mimics the power of a dedicated GPU is the day I start asking these GPU card companies WTF.
