I love how the moment Kirk reveals to McCoy he's suffering from a Vulcan Mind Meld that McCoy's first reaction is "That green-blooded son of a (bleep)! This is his revenge for all those arguments he lost!"
@@thatdrunkguyyousawlastweek9127 the child in me says that Ernest Borgnine and Tim Conway are guarding the Gates of Heaven from evil, but Nimoy and Kelley's arguments liven it up. "Well, now we're both dead. Care to pick up our conversation on the subject, Spock?"
I think Nimoy was also very very good. He had a really difficult prospect making a character like Spock multi-dimensional, believable and sympathetic. I really love their interaction in the episode where Kirk has lost between dimensions. Many of their scenes in on episode seem to take place beyond Star Trek given the Rhythm of their interplay; it stops feeling like melodrama and suddenly feels real.
10:48... when I saw the first TNG episode with McCoy and he said to " Treat her like a lady, because she'll always bring you home "...I teared up...as a 15 year old boy who grew up watching reruns of TOS, the cartoon, and up to that point, the Voyage home...so many memories...if you are a Star Trek fan, you already know.
What a long way Mr. Spock has come....from this Spock who was so stoic and noble and kept Kirk and Bones on the path of logic to the new Spock who willing to embrace his humanity and cry over his friend. I love both of them equally though. He is, by far, the best Star Trek character.
It's interesting to note that I read that at the time Star Trek first started, DeForrest Kelley first auditioned to be Spock. This might be a way they dealt with that.
I think it said in 'From Saw Dust to Star Dust' that Roddenberry did originally suggest to Kelley that he play Spock but Kelley didn't think he was right for the part. Then Roddenberry suggested the doctor but it took a long time to convince the network that Kelley could be McCoy because he had spent so much time playing villains
Data is a cinnamon roll like goddamn. Anyway, I'm really happy that Beyond got alot of moments between Spock and McCoy (Spock being the worst possible backseat driver, anyone?)
The one major complaint I have about the reboot movies is the fact that they made them more about Spock and Jim, instead of Spock, Jim, and Bones. In the original series, it was about the dynamic between the trio, how well they worked with each other, and worked off of one another.
I've always wondered during the scene when McCoy tried to use the Vulcan neck pinch. Because in the original series, they indicated that it could be taught. But here we have McCoy, with Vulcan knowledge, and can't do the pinch efficiently.
Thank-you for including Dr. McCoy and Data. I treasure that scene. I've loved Deforest Kelley since I was a little girl. Hard to resist gentlemanly southern charm.
These are very nice, but nothing is better than the closing moments of The City on the Edge of Forever. When Kirk, Spock and McCoy are reunited it almost brings tears to the eye.

We miss him and the crew of the original enterprise. Only; Kirk, Chekov, Uhura and Sulu are left. Star Trek heaven has a place for them ready for they come back to Star Fleet.
why didn't they ever bring McCoy back for more appearances on TNG? They had Spock and Scotty on for at least one whole episode each, but McCoy only gets a brief cameo in the first episode. Even if McCoy was ancient by that time, they still could have had him on for an episode and had him debate Dr. Crusher on medical stuff, or argued philosophical approached to a situation with Picard. By the end of TNG, we had three TOS characters alive in the late 24th century and nothing was done with that (although I understand one of the books revealed that Scotty was involved in the building of the Enterprise E)
Easily due to the fact he aged. as Data says he's 137 he's probably out of the loop and he portays the slowness of his age well. Where as vulcans live considerably longer so spock was still only about middle aged and Scotty was stuck in a transporter for 80 years which was effectively stasis
🤔 With the exception of Kirk's horrid treatment, I think McCoy, Spock, and Scotty were used appropriately throughout the TNG era. The only ones that were short-changed are Chekov, Sulu, and Uhura as we never really knew what happened to them; I'm not including fan-films as they are not necessarily cannon, nor am I including any of the garbage coming from Bad Robot and Secret HIDEOUT.

Yeah. 2001 Space Odyssey was a big hit around that time. They where trying to do a blend of that style and ST. Didn't really work. On the other hand, the more naval uniforms that they wore after and for the rest of the original movies are great looking.
Thank you for compiling and posting these. Marvelous job! I wish real people could behave like they lived in the world of _Star Trek_ , but I think stories like this are simply wish fulfillment. I wish it weren't so.

I love it when McCoy says "god I liked him better before he died" always make me laugh.
Piero Civitarese and Kirk’s reaction 😂
Spock: "I'm sorry, Doctor. Were we having a good time?"
McCoy: "God, I liked him better before he died".
ROFL
Kirk trying to calm the situation but it’s too late 😂😂
McCoy always had that special ability to bring out the humanity in Spock in spite of himself.
might be Bones' bast line honestly. Something my late mother and I always cackled like crazy people at with his delivery over the years.
"That green-blooded SOB. It's his revenge for all those arguments he lost."
Hahaha!!
That phrase gets me all the time
One of the best. If not the best
The audience was laughing so hard here most if us missed the next statement.
That was great! I'd wager Spock would disagree on who won those arguments. 😅
That's my favorite line from the whole movie
Spock: "Jim, be careful."
McCoy: "WE will"
that gets me every time
McCoy wants Spock to care about him :)
Bones was kirk's emtion and spock was his reason. They made him whole. Greatly writen trio.
Amen!!!
It's Freudian. Bones was the id, Spock was the ego, and therefore Kirk was the superego.
Thank you, they were a Trinity...
Feel like kirk is balanced between Emotional and logical
Great insight, Ace.
I love how the moment Kirk reveals to McCoy he's suffering from a Vulcan Mind Meld that McCoy's first reaction is "That green-blooded son of a (bleep)! This is his revenge for all those arguments he lost!"
I found 6:44 so charming. Bones intentionally trying to drag Spock into a debate because he missed having them with him.

I love 6.01 scene typical Bones
"You mean I have to die to discuss your insights on death?" Always gets me.

Great chemistry... it just worked.

Deforest was the deepest character for me I love bones he made it believable

How about Shatner as Spock?
This is darling. Thank you for posting these. God bless DeForest Kelley and Leonard Nimoy.
And James Doohan.
So sad. May we all be so worthy as to see them on the other side.
Shatner was right he is alone of the 4 main characters
Doc; "I choose the danger.... heck of a time to ask" 😅😅😅

I've always wondered during the scene when McCoy tried to use the Vulcan neck pinch. Because in the original series, they indicated that it could be taught. But here we have McCoy, with Vulcan knowledge, and can't do the pinch efficiently.
It was too funny to have him not be able to do it. So they chose that.
McCoy getting emotional over Spock's death makes me wanna cry
Mr. Spock and bones are two of the most iconic and beloved men to ever be!!!!!!!

Dayum, Spock's eyebrows are on POINT.
Much like his ears.
Deforest Kelley, what an amazing actor
These are very nice, but nothing is better than the closing moments of The City on the Edge of Forever. When Kirk, Spock and McCoy are reunited it almost brings tears to the eye.
Between the series and the films, DeForest Kelly aged remarkably well.
The kind of person who looks 40 at 20, also looks 40 at 60. So it's a tradeoff.
I’ve always loved the banter between Spock & Bones. Bones was Kirk’s emotional side, & Spock was Kirk’s logic and reason.
I know for a fact that those two legends are in heaven right now still bickering with each other 😂
Jim be careful. Bones”we will!” Lol the man had timing 🖖😂
"God i liked him better before he died"
xD
wow what an original tribute to both actors and their characters relationship.
Spocks robe looks comfortable
It just occurred to me after 30+ years that Spock really didn’t need to hide his ears before walking around San Francisco in the 1980’s. 😆
Lol that bathrobe he's wearing is more eye-catching
Star Trek 5 may not have been the best, but the movie had the best one-liners and reaction shots.
Thats my favorite movie. They were all shown on a different light.
Spock: What does a god need with a star ship?
