I love it great truck thank you for putting your life on the line for the safety of the people of your city , as a 44 year vet of the fire service i enjoy fire dept, videos
You guys have a crazy cool and unique fleet. I worked for E-One in FL, a fire engine design and manufacturer and haven’t ever seen some the rigs you guys own.
Would love to see more of the set up on the tractor for this unit. I know in the fleet services, he had mentioned some battery array. Also it looks like there is a compartment on the back on the bottom, curious what that is for.
Ya all need what we had. It wa called a LT "Ladder tender". Had all the big ladder had except the ladders and the big size. worked great for medical calls and where a ladder wasnt needed. It helped on costs in long run
Pretty sad that they were laying on the air horn and people were still flying through like the big red truck with a blaring Q, horn, and lights wasn’t even there.
Yeah, that's the 'me, me, me' society. Why should I break, I'm in a hurry too! The funny thing is that the moment one car actually starts breaking, others (also in other lanes) join the moment. We like to think we are individuals, but in reality we are more like lemmings following others...
@@2Fast4Mellow Very true. There are psychological studies that the best amount of people around if you need help from strangers is just a handful - just one or two may slink away because nobody notices them not helping; too many and everybody will think that they don't need to help because nobody else helps either; but with a handful of people at least one or two will feel responsible and actually help which will trigger the others to also help.
Hi Switch. I thought the same thing. Maybe the drivers were too busy on their phones? Other folk are risking their own lives to save others. But just keep driving to get a burger or something.
Oh man I have my Wide Area Search certificate for helping with collapse and stuff in a natural disasters. It was an amazing course I took through Texas A&M.
@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO you guys know what'd be cool? Once Collapse 45 is fully kitted out, you should devise a training-exercise-style dry run to show all of the tools in action! If you could actually work it into an actual training exercise, of course, then that would be even better! Show the folks who you serve just what their tax money can do when put to good use!
Awesome video. That's a beautiful truck. We actually have a pink fire truck in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦 for breast cancer 🎀. I seen that truck and it's also a beauty. You should make up t- shirts and hoodies to sell to raise money for more equipment for your truck. I really like the red one the fella was wearing. You could put fund raiser then your station name, then sell them through utube. I hope you all have a great weekend and stay safe and well.
I am a former ff-medic here in north Georgia. My department was (is) very similar to yours in its structure. Actually, the former fire chief in an adjacent department to you in Colorado operates ours here.

Awesome. I thought for a bit, these guys are so big, what do they need a truck for? But it was a great video. I do worry about what these folks have to face. They take on all comers I guess. So a great truck and gear is very welcome. Greetings.
Must have had some bad calls to get that grant approval must be nice to be in a city together grants like that in my districts I volunteered and am a volunteer at we get shafted all the time on grants but everyone else gets them or gets some of the equipment they want or need. Its going to be a big change if I get to be in a bigger department hopefully I will get to be at a place that actually gets cool equipment and gear not just the cool factor but increases life and safety factors
Nice presentation and it looks like a great rig to serve you well for a long time. If I was the director/producer of your video, which you did a very good job at, what I might do is show Collapse-45 with all the roll-ups closed, full length, get those code lights in there, then for the compartment presentation, off-camera, roll-up all those doors so the FF's don't have to keep opening/closing. On the tower truck responding to the medical aids, that is a pet peeve of mine I've been trying to educate various chiefs and city council people on, that many agencies are running their trucks/towers/ladders into the ground assigning them to medical aids. You depreciate those expensive trucks so much more quickly, and run the risk of more accidents. Run a squad instead, or a ladder tender on the medical aids. Just my 2 cents worth. Thank you!
Hey SMFR! Are you guys getting Like a New Dive, HazMat or Rescue Truck? If yes, what Kind of a Truck would it be? Pierce, Spartan, E-One Or..? Thanks alot!
Due to the low frequency of incidents requiring a hoist, SMFR has contractors who will respond when needed which is more cost effective than purchasing and operating our own heavy wrecker.
@@LiamPattisonPhotography I know they have a dedicated rig for Decon but it seems like every other vehicle had at least one of the 5 gallon decon buckets. You would think this vehicle would have at least a couple of those given the type of calls it is designed to answer.
I can't put an exact number on it but SMFR's FY2020 budget estimate (filed 31 Jan 2021) lists roughly $1.054M in grants under revenue, and that line item for the years before and after show less than $100k each. However, my old department housed one of five identical USAR rigs very similar to SMFR's (Hackney TU1982 34.5ft. trailer/Freightliner M2-112 tractor), and the UASI grant to buy and equip all five for the region was $4.25M in 2006, so a cool million sounds about right.
here in the Pacific Northwest we have trailers just like that but those trailers are used for beverages beer and soda distributors around the area will fill up the trailers at night the delivery drivers will go around with dollies and deliver stacks of goods when I delivered beer for a living at a very similar trailer
Hackney doors are...different. There's no individual latch for each compartment; instead, there's a lever at the front of both sides of the body that locks all the compartments on that particular side. Go to 1:47 and you can clearly see the engineer's side handle in the unlocked position.
I'm not 100% sure but I think the shirts are a charity thing for military personnel, they buy the shirt with their own money and gets donated and they are allowed to wear the shirt on fridays I think. Red for remember everyone deployed
I noticed that too! I remember one time they said every rig carries a BLS compliment as a first responder rig in case something happens wherever they are at they can initiate BLS care right off the bat

So quick question for you guys. Why do the firefighters where red shirts? Where I live red fire shirts are considered for fire cadets only.
I think they wear red on Fridays. Not sure what it symbolizes.
There is no specific reason why they wear red shirts, they have them and can wear them as they want since they have the navy blue shirts.
