After I heard about this game I shed a nostalgic tear... Then I searched and searched and finally, I played it...
This is a finely crafted game with increased difficulty, 8 levels (4 old, 4 new) and to top it all off... was not made by Nintendo! The creator's name is Jeff Kulczycki. He has modded various coin-op machines (Dragon's Lair for example). But after 3 1/2 years of on and off hard work... This amazing "should of been the actual sequel" was born!
This is being played with the MAME emulator by me... (Since coming across a cabinet is extremely hard!)

I love the amount of creativity that they put in to it. It actually looks like an official sequel, and I imagine that, in the '80s, it would have been a hit.
There was an official remake/sequel on the GameBoy in 94.
Gosh. I really miss those days of arcade machines. The golden years.
Awesome :) brings back so many memories! My grandfather won an original Donkey Kong cabinet before I was born so I grew up playing it. Great times.
I thought this was a just a level swap, but then I saw the animation of Mario, Pauline, and Donkey Kong at the end of the third level. (With the gas stoves.)

Is A hack of "Donkey Kong" which adds four new stages and changes the original four stages slightly.
Someone (not Nintendo) Really spent some time making this. The game is a mystery.

Upon seeing this Donkey Kong 2 the Return of Jumpman video I'm so very disappointed that the video game itself never appeared in any video game arcade nor video game systems here in the United States of America because it would have been so totally cool,fun & exciting to have experienced playing the actual video game itself instead of watching it on video!

No, his name is actually Jumpman and not Mario. He was just renamed Mario in the Sequel Donkey Kong Jr.

I played this at MAGfest this year. It was pretty interesting. I was also genuinely confused since it was in a normal DK cab.

At the height of 75 M.. It looks like an oil rig up there.. At 125 M and 175 M, It looks like PIE factory.. Still, jumpman died on the "plate" is pretty funny.
I actually played the cabinet version of this game. It's set up at a place called "Funspot" in New Hampshire. Funspot is an actual arcade museum, and world record competitions are held there. They had this game in the cabinet version set up. And yes, this is not "technically" a licensed Nintendo game.

I loved plying the newer levels! Great level design that left me feeling accomplished when I completed them all.
Nintendo actually did call Mario Jumpman when DK was first released. So, Jumpman is official.
I like how towards the end of the 2nd level, before climbing up the ladder to Pauline, you jump over a barrel but don't receive any points.
I like how DK tries to save himself from falling on the final screen, but Mario stamps on his hands and causes him to fall.

This is a hack of the Original Donkey Kong, and the real Donkey Kong 2 was a Game & Watch that only saw the light of day in Japan

quick facts that are irrelevant and relevant :
1. jumpman is mario
2. it probably wasnt made by nintendo but it was licenced by nintendo because donkey kong ( the original ), donkey kong 2 , donkey kong 3 and donkey kong jr were on the NES
3. in the original mario brothers for the atari and arcade mario was a carpenter
and i believe frok this game and on he is a plumber

No, When Shigeru Miyamoto created Donkey Kong his name was Jumpman, only in the Japanese version of the game. Then when Miyamoto sent the game Minoru of Nintendo of America, Jumpman was such an odd name so he changed it..the name mario came up from the landlord that yelled at them for not paying the bill.

I was at an arcade in Dallas Tx called Cidercade they had this in an arcade cabinet with a Donkey Kong 2 markee. Very hard game to play but it's a nice challenge. I had this rom for Mame but it never ran. I never knew about this game but had a good feeling this was a hack like Donkey Kong Advance ( another good hack) . The person really put some effort into creating this especially on the intermissions. I rather play these style games vs the stuff they was coming out in the 90's ( graphics, sound and feel). When was this hack created? I'm going to find this rom to play along Donkey Kong Advanced( Donkey Kong hack).

This is my RUclips video of the day. A great game from the past made better. Can just imagine if this been released back for the NES it might have sold as well as SMB 3, or would have made Donkey Kong Country 1, 2, and 3 (and Donkey Kong 64) collector's items because this was (unlockable) inside.

Thank God there is now a HOME port for this game… On the Intellivision! Release this year (2012) and recipient of many glowing reviews, even from Classic Game Room, this is not a title to miss for fans of classic gaming and the Intellivision. Search for "D2K" and "Intellivision". The cartridge is being sold by Elektronite. Buy it, you won't regret it!

Thanks (by posting your video) for letting me know that this game was now available on MAME. I finally now have this game that I have wanted for a long time. I found the rom on emuparadise, and I found the Mame 0.141 version that you recommended on emulator-zone. Btw, it's worthy of mention (to those unaware of it) that the rom doesn't work unless you have the 'dkong' rom aka 'Donkey Kong (set 1)' to go with it. Thanks again!

This gmae looks fun, but it does seem to suffer from the hacker deficiency of "Let's make it as hard as possible so you have to be perfect to finish" mentaltiy. It is like whne I had a golf game on my mid 80s PC that allowed me to create courses I would make tiny island holes, and 700 yard par 5s with skinny fairways.
If the creator of this game tweaked it to give a little more room for error, it could be one of the classic hacks of all time.
1981 relives again more then ever before.

This is real. I have it on MAME. There's even a download link in the description and a link to the game on Newgrounds.
Notice how all of the NES donkey kong games have no pie factories and this game has almost all screens based on the pie factory.
Donkey Kong NEVER made it to the Atari 5200 and the coleco vision's version DID NOT have all the levels as the arcade version.

It would be nice if you could run through it 2 or 3 times to see the different changes after you complete it the first time, like the jumping fireballs when you go back to level 1
I went to a video game event in California and they have an arcade machine of this hack as well. I don't think this is as uncommon as you think. I mean, there's probably less than 100 machines out there, but still, way more than two machines.

Is this a fan-made game? The only version of "Donkey Kong II" I've ever known about was the Game & Watch game. I only knew of Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr. and Donkey Kong 3 on consoles and arcade machines.
