I have seen many Super Mario Bros gameplays but I must say that this is the best ever gameplay I have seen so far ... The player never lets Mario die & lets him become small. The player is also not in greed of coins which I like the most.
I've only played up to world 2 and never got any further. Thank you for showing us all the 8 worlds, and great play! There were a few close calls but how amazing you never died once😂

For me, this is the best Mario game out there. Of the 2d ones, I didn't play many 3d ones. It's simple perfection. It is one of the first games that let you correct your jump in mid-air (but not too much) and it's just Mario jumping and running. No flying, no Yoshis to ride on, just you and Mario's skill set. The levels are short and sweet so you don't get frustrated when you die. Only thing is that when you lose all your lives it's back to the start screen, but I have the Game and Watch version that came out recently which lets you continue where you turned off your device plus lets you cheat with unlimited lives (AND (almost) no input lag). Which is still difficult enough for a shitty platform player like myself, because you still get stuck on the most difficult levels (8-3 or 8-2, can't remember which one was the most infamous). I know, there was always a cheat code to select levels in the original game as well. Anyway, it's perfection and in my eyes better than Super Mario Bros 3, which is better than Super Mario World.
You were today years old when you learned that if you hold down the A button and press start you can continue on the last world you died in. Still stuck on 8-2 though.😂

I skipped to the final world after words 1 and 3. Now I can see why people fell in love with the game; it's a straightforward game where abilities aid you and the skates get higher as you progress.

Watching this reminds me of the stress I went through playing the harder levels 99 times in a row. (With the 99 limit you'd get cheating in level 3-1) I'd play when I got home late from work because the TV was in my parents living room & I could only play when they were at work or sleeping. I used to be this good but now I'm rusty. I was playing with my niece recently & she laughed every time my guy died & I'd have a frustrated fit.
It isn’t helpful he literally just shoots fireballs at everything but I don’t have fireball so I can’t kill anyone. Could you make a version without fireball?
To this date, the hardest world for me is 8-4, only because I never remember what tunnels to go to!! Thanks for the "cheat code", I'll try next time I want to finish the game 😊
There used to be secret blocks in these stages that take you secret location with coins galore. This added to the intrigue of the game. Pity they are not in this playthrough.
