These blogs are anti-hype now. This one just fleshed out the info for a siege video we got -- what is it now, 1 year ago? If they were hinting at mechanics like the importance of trade routes, what it will be like to raid caravans and ships, village economies, ship battles, diplomacy, etc. I'd feel like they were getting somewhere, but it really doesn't feel like there's any progress. We watched a camel being modelled a few weeks ago. A camel. I'm not annoyed at them, they can take as long as they want to get their game right, I just don't understand what the blogs are for. :-/ Probably just going to try and forget about Bannerlord until I get a Steam notification, or something . . .
Yeah, that's exactly what I meant. Big releases at E3, or a release date. Don't know why TW needs to stress about releasing something every week. Just relax and enjoy making the game, then share stuff when you have it/feel like it. Not sure what you thought I meant. It's OK, maybe English isn't your first language or you've never been a particularly strong reader. I don't know you.
I guess the reason they do these weekly things is because the community whined for years about the lack of communication, as much as even saying weekly little blogs like these would've been better than what they were doing before, so lo and behold, they're doing exactly what the community asked for.
I wonder if you can increase the level of the walls and increase the amount of sets of walls...I think that made sense, so level one you have a simple wall, no keep or anything, level 2 a higher stone wall with a keep and then level 3 has 2 sets of walls and so on, up to 3 sets of walls..okay maybe not 3 but 2 at least
bobers654 well yes, that’s the point, they did it in real life so why not incorporate it into the game? Total War medieval 2 did it very well, and yes, I know it’s a strategy game and this is mostly one guy fighting and in command but I think it’d work, and make them more interesting
there is levels of walls, it goes up to 3 I have heard about it and i have seen it in videos ....here ... ruclips.net/video/3P8AYtiaaFE/видео.html go to 10:17 in the link and its the third icon in the top left.. it looks like a gatehouse symbol .. .thats your castle or wall level.
Peter Joy I GUARANTEE that 80% of players are more interested in Singleplayer than multiplayer, They should leave multiplayer to games like Chivalry and Mordhau.
I've just realized that I don't care about this game anymore... waiting for so long I got simply too old to remain interested in it. I know - I'm surprised myself!
Andrzej Kułakowski like I'll play it when it comes out but the interest in the game is almost completely gone. I'm kinda sick of hearing about the game now
Mathius 4:172 "In the last days many will fall from the faith. But be of good spirit for the Lord of Banners shall not slack concerning the Day of Banners."
Siege was mostly what I played on the GK server awhile back. The funniest thing I seen in Mount & Blade was players launching each other in a trebuchet most time it did not work but the times it did it was funny to hear them say I made it over only to hear them say I died on impact.
Maganoles/onagers were primarily field artillery, when trying to take down a wall they were useless but could take out the merlons. Now Trebuchets that's where it's at
Even trebuchets had trouble destroying walls, and even if they had destroyed part of a wall it would not create a very suitable breach. The rubble from the wall would still make for an effective defence. Mangonels/onagers where indeed very useless against walls, the boulders they could throw probably wouldn't even scratch a stone house. Think about it, if a few pieces of wood taped together could destroy a wall. Why even build a wall to begin with? seems like a waste of time and money.
DTerror 1303, I did know this I simply omitted that it can take days of constant bombardment from multiple Trebuchets to breach the walls. But for destruction in early and mid medieval they were the prime weapon. Though why would you want to destroy the wall those things are costly and take a long time to repair.
True enough :D I just hope they make it somewhat reasonably realistic in bannerlord. Bombarding down a castle wall would take a lot of firepower. I hope it doesn't become a 5 minutes bombardfest to destroy 80% of the wall. I actually just did some reading, and i found out that most trebuchets where pre build parts like Ikea does it. And only took a few hours to assemble, i always thought they had to make them from scratch. The more you know! xD
If I ever have the patience and time to build a trebuchet, I will use it out of range of the enemy while firing it at them until the walls are down and the launch the assault. However I read you might have to tear the walls down before going into battle in which case I don't see the use in using an onagar or trebuchet in battle
I enjoyed Warband be it in Vanilla or using Mods. And still playing. I hope Bannerlord make the Diplomacy, Marriage, Sieges,Town Management and other events even more interesting to keep players occupied for hours. Also hope there's option for us to create our own kingdom. It would be super cool if we could even customize our own troops with probably some restriction like we have to choose our kingdom traditions(Cavalry, Heavy Infantry or Ranged) to put some restriction instead going all powerful in all area or something like that. And story progression too. Man I pumped for this game! :D
Woeski The Husky That's how long it takes to make a game like this, the engine from scratch, with a relatively small team for what you're trying to do, and if you have problems along the way.
will archers be able to ignite arrows and will there be oil you can set on fire when enemy troops are charging through? would be awesome imagine those bunring areas while men are screaming from pain.
fire arrows were used, dating as far back as the assyrians, as were (crossbow) bolts, spears and other incendiary weapons. lindybeige is bases his facts on his larp and not historical research
+Similan How on earth are you going to ignite a bolt?! I don't know what Lloyd bases his facts on, but I have to say that I share his thoughts and the fire arrow he showed in his video looks just like the ones, I have been presented with so far. He didn't say they weren't used, just that they were only usefull for certain tasks. Shooting enemies wasn't one of them.
Having a hollow metal bolt tip and fill them with someting flammable. Not all arrows or bolts stayed lit though. Main purpose was siege- or navalwarfare
torsion in what? The ballista had a bow and a string, tension in the bow and both tortion and tension in the string that propelled the projectile. where is the torsion in the mangonel, in real life mangonels had bows.
There is actually no historical source indicating that a bow was ever on a mangonel except one renaissance painting, and that isnt a credible source as the mangonel was replaced by cannons by then
You know, i've just realised something. Me constantly watching these kinds of videos is making this wait for bannerlord feel way longer than it actually is. So i think i'm done now, see you all when the game is released.
Meh. I always read the blogs, and its not even something we didny know before. I still enjoy these vids and look forward to them. Dont know why.. But keep it up
Hey m8 just letting you know that your audio is always a bit off. Most of the time it's really quiet but sometimes it's quite loud. You might want to work on that. In this video it's very quiet.

Calm down entitled fuck. Wait till e3 then we might see something new.
Pira Dude people have said that for years your a broken record now every year scream e3
We got to see some beautiful IK last week.
I guess the reason they do these weekly things is because the community whined for years about the lack of communication, as much as even saying weekly little blogs like these would've been better than what they were doing before, so lo and behold, they're doing exactly what the community asked for.

If its not in the vanilla game modders will make it
Thatll make defense much easier, but so much harder for assault.
bobers654 well yes, that’s the point, they did it in real life so why not incorporate it into the game? Total War medieval 2 did it very well, and yes, I know it’s a strategy game and this is mostly one guy fighting and in command but I think it’d work, and make them more interesting

Yes, I agree, wouldn't mind a building aspect in the idea of Castles, i.e you can place buildings where you want them.
they should have focused on single player first before multiplayer
Shido8 Just because you're more interested in single player doesn't mean everyone is
Peter Joy I GUARANTEE that 80% of players are more interested in Singleplayer than multiplayer, They should leave multiplayer to games like Chivalry and Mordhau.
no
I disagree
99% of people just want a release date
It's nothing we have not already seen in 2016
Dude. I know how ladders works.
Only 3,976 more years
*9078
Whoops, made a mistake, thanks for correcting
its coming out next year
I hope that info is true, any source?
uber2uber its comming out for the next generation you ment to say
Ballista is the singular, Ballistae (ae pronounced as an I sound)
Wow someone reading the developer blog word for word except stuttering constantly and misreading words. Incredible content.
it seems like this blog states the obvious about what we know and except about the game...
Make your "hellllooooo and wellllcome back" intro longer every blog released whilst bannerlord isn't released.
The Bmiller he'll be out of breath from the intros alone.
louis ryan hahaha
holy shiet you are ALIVE
I've just realized that I don't care about this game anymore... waiting for so long I got simply too old to remain interested in it.
I know - I'm surprised myself!
Outdate graphic for game that will be released in 2050+
Andrzej Kułakowski like I'll play it when it comes out but the interest in the game is almost completely gone. I'm kinda sick of hearing about the game now
Mathius 4:172
"In the last days many will fall from the faith. But be of good spirit for the Lord of Banners shall not slack concerning the Day of Banners."
:D I wonder how long did it take you to find this exact suitable sentence :)
Andrzej Kułakowski haha prolly too long to keep my dignity 😂
Siege was mostly what I played on the GK server awhile back. The funniest thing I seen in Mount & Blade was players launching each other in a trebuchet most time it did not work but the times it did it was funny to hear them say I made it over only to hear them say I died on impact.
Resonant taking a break and ironhawk coming back? Are u sure u aint the same guy?xD
totally agree with u xD

Lets just take a moment to appreciate that his name during some of the multiplayer gameplay is Aryan_Himmler
They need to just release the game already
If I ever have the patience and time to build a trebuchet, I will use it out of range of the enemy while firing it at them until the walls are down and the launch the assault.

Almost. . .harvesting. . . .season. . .-falls asleep-

Can't wait to create my own custom castle's for MP.
Oh yeah.. Bannerlord. I remember this one. Was a cool concept. Wish they had continued working on it.
but trebuchet is better . . .
ikr
Trebuchet?
Jacob Joerg the catapult-like thing in the thumbnail.
The superior siege weapon to be sure ;)
Who’s hyped for 2050 release??
the plural of bilista is balistea i think you say it like balistay
The most powerful siege weapon was obviously the Pommel
To end thy foes rightly
The plural of ballista is ballistae, where the ae is pronounced eye as in Latin
These blogs are so boring, just release the game
The days of Robloxia let them finish the game ffs
How can it NOT be finished after 6 years?
Woeski The Husky That's how long it takes to make a game like this, the engine from scratch, with a relatively small team for what you're trying to do, and if you have problems along the way.
dude this team is pretty big, not small at all.
Oh look another "bannerlord" vid, time to downvote
STOP DOING VIDS ON THIS SHIT
THIS "GAME" WILL NEVER RELEASE
will archers be able to ignite arrows and will there be oil you can set on fire when enemy troops are charging through? would be awesome imagine those bunring areas while men are screaming from pain.
But fire arrows weren't actually a widely used thing. Would be pretty cool though.
Leo Persson it really was never done at all. Watch the lindybeige video about it
fire arrows were used, dating as far back as the assyrians, as were (crossbow) bolts, spears and other incendiary weapons. lindybeige is bases his facts on his larp and not historical research

There's no bow on that mangonel, how is it supposed to work?
Torsion, just like the ballista.
torsion in what? The ballista had a bow and a string, tension in the bow and both tortion and tension in the string that propelled the projectile. where is the torsion in the mangonel, in real life mangonels had bows.
Dont worry, i didn't spot the twisted rope at the base of the lever.
They modeled the ballista wrong in this
There is actually no historical source indicating that a bow was ever on a mangonel except one renaissance painting, and that isnt a credible source as the mangonel was replaced by cannons by then
Joined Byzantine, great and friendly people
the ladders were already up in warband you couldnt knock them over or do anything with them
Hares Sae You have clearly never played multiplayer before
Joppe Reynaert read the title this video is about singleplayer
Rainz -xZ so? His comment said you couldn't knock down ladders, you can.
Joppe Reynaert not in single player
Rainz -xZ I know lmao, I simply pointed out he must have never played multiplayer before. smartass
Heeelooooo and welcome, it's the best :D
You know, i've just realised something. Me constantly watching these kinds of videos is making this wait for bannerlord feel way longer than it actually is. So i think i'm done now, see you all when the game is released.
Am I the only one who noticed, that IronHawk was named Aryan_Himmler in the Gameplay videos`?
I’m a bit worried about the fact that the battering ram doesn’t get to the end of the development.
Meh. I always read the blogs, and its not even something we didny know before. I still enjoy these vids and look forward to them. Dont know why.. But keep it up
Why do people speculate on this game so much? Its not going to be out for a while.
Im calling late this year or mid next year.
It's NEVER going to release
Rams could be destroyed in MountAndSiege though.
btw that outro is nice
dont worry guys this game will be out by the end of the year it has .......... said the hopefull boy i was in 2015

In Total War, siege ladders dont exist since Rome 2.
1:18 ya read the same sentence twice
Hey m8 just letting you know that your audio is always a bit off. Most of the time it's really quiet but sometimes it's quite loud. You might want to work on that.
In this video it's very quiet.
