    • @fluffybacon

      +jammah keetah When I played a priest I basically activated heroic mode on the elevator boss. Using Leap of Faith to guarantee that somebody fell to their death was honestly some of the most fun times I've ever had in WoW.
      Though my guildies probably wouldn't agree.

      Depends on the priest. I used to use Leap of Faith on people running towards the elevator while it was already down, which resulted in them falling to their deaths.
      It's funny, but not the best way of making friends.

    • @AzureRoxe
      @AzureRoxe 8 лет назад +1

      +Solaire The elevators in WoW were/are extremely buggy. The one in Blackwing Descent being one of the worst in my opinion. It was very common for people to stand in the elevator and suddenly clip through it for no reason, dying instantly out of nowhere, it moving at such speeds that your character simply dropped and died or the elevator just refusing to even move, which forced people to either use a Warlock, mass rez or reset the whole thing.

    M'uru was the hardest boss i faced in my hardcore wow days. my guild spent 2 months on it, 5 days a week 4hrs a day.
    really nasty mechanics and timed moments that could wipe the raid. I suffered a lot as a pally healer, healing the MT and the pally OT that got the adds after the void dies. i had a whole group for myself, or my mana was gone. i had a SP and 3 resto shamans for mana tide. and i was alch with the trinket to boost my pots and farmed dark runes on scholo tô help my mana. really miss those good days

      Yeah i remember that crazy stuff too, M´uru was the hardest Boss I faced during my Raid days as well. I played Hunter back then and we had to set up Drum Rotation Timers for Brutallus and M´uru to get the Dps that tiny bit higher to not wipe at 1% again

  • @MiokeDokey
    @MiokeDokey 9 лет назад +129

    IMO, the hardest part of vanilla bosses was finding 40 people who were good at the game and could work on the same schedule. The actual mechanics of fights weren't that complex.

    • @mister122345
      @mister122345 9 лет назад +33

      The fights were shit in comparision to new raid bosses, just organising 40 ppl and dealing with bugs, broken mechanics and shitty time restraints due to having 40 ppl gave the illusion of difficulty.

    in defense of lich king heroic, from what i remember, saronite bombs were used by every dps in their rotation. that makes it kinda hard to see it as a exploit... . when everybody uses it, how do you know that it triggers the bug?

  • @darkstrike055
    @darkstrike055 7 лет назад

    Few things that contributed to M'uru being the hardest killable boss that you forgot to mention:
    1. Class stacking. This was when class stacking was at it's worst. You had to have 5 shaman to rotate Lust/heroism which at the time was party only, one had to be Enhance to buff the tank/melee group. You needed multiple priests for mass dispel and at minimum 1 Shadow to buff warlocks and give mana to healers. You needed 4 warlocks minimum because they were the best ranged DPS with Curse of Shadows and Spriest debuff. Many guilds stopped at M'uru simply because they could not get the raid composition needed to even attempt it.
    2. Leatherworking; Back in BC Leatherworkers could craft Drums of Battle that would give the party a nice haste buff for ~20 seconds on a 2 minute CD, it was a neat perk only LWers could use but M'uru was the fight that forced an entire raid roster to reroll to LW so that the Drums could be chained and keep full uptime over the entire fight. Watch SK gaming World First kill and look at the players all announce when their drums are used and who is next in the sequence.

    Just downed Vaelastrazs on Nostalrius :)
    Took us 2 weeks after BWL release and approximately 30 attempts.
    When the encounter begins every single player gets a "debuff" called "Essence of the Red" that lasts 3 minutes and gives every player 50 energy per second, 50 rage per second, and 500 mana per second. Burning adrenaline is a debuff Vael casts every 45 seconds on the main tank and on random mana users throughout the fight. It reduced your maximum health by 5% every second, but gave you 100% more damage, 100% faster attack speed, and all spells are instant cast. (I know what you're thinking, spamming pyroblast every GCD would wipe the raid due to threat).
    Backstab rogues had a lot of fun during this fight.

    I remember #6 with the Saronite Bomb exploit. The ban was absolutely uncalled for.
    At the time Saronite Bombs were best-in-slot setup for rogues. So one of their group who was using the setup was unknowingly causing the exploit and the guild just thought it was a bug/part of the fight.

  • @anubis12321

    I was in a world first guild at the time of doing Cthun and one of the mechanics that is rarely talked about in videos like this is the chain lightning he does to random people that would kill anyone it chained to after 5 or so. World first guilds would wipe to C'thun just getting into his room. You would have to mount up in groups of 3 and with funnel into his room to even start the encounter. If you watch some of the footage of that time and the person playing was in one of the end groups you'll notice they're all the way down the tunnel awaiting the go.
    Crazy ass fight.

    In Icecrown Citadel 25-man normal mode we got the world first Lich King kill (where the encounter was working as intended). Our Professor Putricide normal world first is also worth mentioning as many other guilds believed the encounter was bugged and didn't attempt it as they were afraid of wasting attempts. We also managed to get the world first 10-man heroic Lich King kill just a few hours after the servers got up after the 5% zone buff went live. In 25-man heroic Icecrown Citadel we got Europe first kills from 8 first bosses and world first kills from wing end bosses: Blood-Queen Lana'thel, Sindragosa and Professor Putricide. We achieved the world first 25-man heroic Lich King kill 26.3.2010. 28.7.2010 we finished the raids of Wrath of the Lich King by killing the Lich King hard mode with 0% zone buff.

    Kil'Jaeden was not hard. Guilds that killed M'uru before his nerf usually killed KJ the same week. I know my guild took almost 3 months to kill M'uru, and then we killed KJ the next day.

    • @Traumglanz
      @Traumglanz 5 лет назад +1

      Same for us. Still, I am not so sure if KJ BC was not hard. It was a soft boss after doing M'uru and having all those skills from past sunwell bosses, but the encounter itself was actually a rather fun one with plenty of good mechanics which easily could kill you. He just was not M'uru, Cthun oder Alone in the Dark.
      Vael was really not hard. You you needed was 8 priest imho. And tanks which good aggro rotations.

    Actually, Preach from Preach gaming explained fully on the saronite bombs glitch, the Rogue used the bombs in his regular rotation and since a lot of heroic bosses are buggy as hell (since less then 1% of the WoW population plays them, not a ton of QA goes into the PTR and what not.) they didn't know why the bombs would sometimes rebuild the platform, and other times did not.
    And Paragon did manage to down LK on their Alt group (Since their mains were banned for a short while) before the nerfs went out just to prove they could do it, and didn't need to exploit.

    I 100% agree with M'uru being the hardest, as my guild was stuck there for quite a while. You forgot to mention 1 thing about M'uru. It required a certain setup. There was no way you could do M'uru without X amount of Shadow Priests, X amount of Resto shamans, and you needed specific "group setups" for the 2 sides where the adds spawned. I remember 2 nights where we just didn't have a optimal setup, and M'uru is the only boss any of my guilds have decided to not even bother trying without a optimal setup. Usually you can have a decent chance with a less optimal raidsetup, but not with M'uru..

    I heard a different story about the Lich King "exploit", mainly that is was a BUG they weren't doing on purpose. Apparently the rogue with the Saronite Bombs used them as part of his rotation, which somehow affected the raid. In other words, they weren't exploiting it on purpose, not even the rogue knew he was causing it.

    • @MrGryph78
      @MrGryph78 10 лет назад

      Why was there no video released of that fight, they released kill videos of every other world first they achieved within a day or two at most, yet not with LK. Why? They knew it was not a legit kill.

    • @michaelmyers5183
      @michaelmyers5183 9 лет назад

      CreativeUsernameEh The rogue accidentally discovered the exploit by using the bombs in his rotation, that part is true. However, Ensidia knew that the platform was not supposed to rebuild itself, and they chose to exploit instead of having the rogue stop using the bombs. These are some of the best players in the world, you don't think the rogue realized that the platform was rebuilding when he used the bombs? It's kinda dumb because they were EASILY good enough players to kill him without exploiting, they just wanted a faster kill and it cost them. They proved themselves by killing LK on their alts during the same lockout, but they were still known for exploiting.

    If you are talking about the Ensidia ban that isn't entirely accurate. Their ban happened when they were World First on Normal 25 man when they were world first. And they did use the Saronite Bombs the entire fight. They also realized something was broken on the fight and contacted Blizzard to let them know. They were unsure what was causing it. Upon killing it they received a 3 day ban and took away their kill. In order to not be locked out of Heroic ICC the next week they went back into ICC with their alts and downed Lich King again just to show them that they could and also to ensure they could begin the ICC Grind the next week. I still feel they got screwed. That guild was known as the best in the world so it wasn't like they needed to exploit to get the kill. I understand why they would feel cheater by Blizzard especially since they were such huge ambassadors of the game at the time.

      Martin Slow For me relying on others is always more complicated than just sanding away when X thing happens.... Imperator was a nightmare. Name it simple but old raids only tested your mastery over your rotation; most people can't handle themselves today, but they can move away of shit like allure the flames while they auto attack.

    • @Silverhand404
      @Silverhand404 8 лет назад

      DriftNick idk about you but as a warrior i had to stance dance in order to max my stuff... vanilla had 2 button rotations. The amount of mechanics doesn't make a fight hard for me since i can memorize most of the stuff.
      At least on my rogue (combat) and on my warrior (when arms was viable) the rotations were pretty much harder than they are right now. Special emphasis on the warrior that lost versatility in its specs, and fury is just about 3 that remains the same. I miss break armor on warriors and expose on my rogue respectively, at least you could help other people back then. Of course you could ignore those but maxing the whole raid damage beats just maxing your own.
      I would give you that paladins were awfully retarded in TBC and WotLK to the point that in the argent tournament they have 2 paladins named noskeels and faceroll.

    From the perspective of one of the original WoW players, which is me, from 2004 and going onto until WOTLK and also reviewing Cataclysm and MoP fights. I agree with a couple of bosses you listed. However, I would like to correct and I don't blame you as you probably did not hear of WoW back then so I will create an honest list of boss difficulty from classic up to MoP. From the honest perspective of raiding at Level 60, 70, and 80 when I was playing (Warning, there might be bias as I am very much towards Classic when it used to be extremely hard and BC before patch 2.1 which changed the game. Not to mention, at the time I was playing, we did not use the ventrilo system and still cleared the whole Classic WoW content and BC up to Black Temple before quitting (Even in BC, we did not use ventrilo system, we used EYES and raid warning macros and CTraid (Classic)/DeadlyBossMod (BC)) There was also not many add-ons back then like today with millions of add-ons to make fights a whole lot easier! Classic raids took months while later expansion would take shorter time to kill.
    Listing from Hardest to Easiest of the Top 10 Most Difficult Boss Fights in WoW history
    1. Kel'Thuzad (Classic Naxxramas) - Required insane amount of healing and quickness and coordinated tank switches as the boss was immune to Taunt. Many things at once.
    2. M'uru (Sunwell Plateau) - Broke many guilds or was a barrier from reaching Kil'Jaedan. Took strong coordinated DPS, communication, and situational awareness. One slight mistake and it was back to the beginning!
    3. C'Thun (Temple of Ahn'Qiraj) - Not even going to begin with the pre-nerf C'thun… Hands-down impossible to kill. It was a NIGHTMARE FROM HELL! Even after the fix, C'thun was still very difficult. It took full focus from the start to the end from the first second the tank went into start the fight. Keeping the proximity in check and avoiding the laser beam which was death. Being quick on killing the tentacles and eyes and inside the tummy (Took coordinated switches as DoT damages intensify fast)
    4. Kael'Thas Sunstrider (Tempest Keep) - He required maximum focus and good coordination of handling his minions and weapons and crowd controlling. Strong execution of assignments or else, it was an automatic wipe
    5. Saphirron (Classic Naxxramas) - While the tank had 10,000 to 12,000 HP average, DPS at 6,000 - 8,000 HP, Healers at 5,500 - 8,000 HP average, the frost aura was already harsh and required everybody to wear Frost-Resistance Gear. Lots of situational awareness. Biggest was knowing when to get behind which ice tomb and to avoid 2 blizzard AOES at once.
    6.Nefarian (Blackwing Lair) - For the old-timers, they would agree with me that Nefarian was so tough on raiding guilds. Lots of crowd-controlling, knowing who to sheep, controlling the healing (priests could not heal as it would damage if they got cursed), being on toes to heal the warrior tanks if they were cursed and went into berserker stance taking more damage, coordinated fight, strong execution of tasks.
    7.. Vaelstrasz (Blackwing Lair) - Caused multiple guilds to break apart and caused anger towards raiding guilds as he was a hard gear and strategy check. Not to mention that there were only 3 minutes on the timer of the buff to kill him or else, wipe. The most difficult was knowing where to go to for the bomb debuff to not kill other raid members and perfect execution of tank switches without the boss breathing his deadly fire or whipping his tail of death at raid members which was difficult.
    8. Heroic Lich King (Icecrown Citadel) - Very difficult as in length of the fight, coordination and control of adds and defiles and plagues. Not to mention the Frostmourne Room where everybody had to be coordinated to avoid the exploding ghosts. Also, the Reckless Winter part was difficult and finally, the phase with the Undead winged mobs that would grab and drop people off the edges.
    9. Ragnaros (Molten Core) - Believe it or not, but it was true! It was a huge accomplishment to kill Ragnaros when WoW first came out. Old and original timers would agree with me on that especially the lengthy time it took to kill Ragnaros. Especially with blue dungeon gear and maybe one epic gear to enter Molten Core as the progression, it took discipline and coordination and speed of killing his Sons of Ragnaros and the biggest thing, collecting Fire Resistance gear before even facing Ragnaros! Many guilds were screaming, biting themselves, and slamming their hands while fighting Ragnaros. There were times where guilds had gotten Ragnaros to 1% only to see the hard work being wiped away! Just because Ragnaros was 30,000 HP away from dying does not mean a win because Ragnaros could easily kill ALL the members in 1 shot! Exciting times…
    10. Lady Vashj (Serpentshrine Cavern) - Lady Vashj had to be one of the most painful bosses to down! It took hard-executed coordination, full focus from the start to the end beginning with the tank running in as Lady Vashj could kill the tank with her shots, endless killing of adds and coordinated throwing of the electric ball to break her shield, controlling of the boss, and then the spore bat dropping poison on the raid where the guild had limited time to kill her before being overwhelmed by the poison. Not to mention, pre-nerf SSC was a nightmare as even trash mobs were extremely hard and it took people with flasks to kill them and they had fast respawns and could easily wipe the raid!
    Honorable Mentions - Onxyia (Classic Onyxia's Lair), Yogg Saron Zero Light (Ulduar), Mimiron Firefighter (Ulduar), Twin Emperors (Temple of Ahn-Qiraj), Illidan (Black Temple), Kil'Jaedan (Sunwell Plateau), Archimonde (Mt. Hyjal), Gothik the Harvester (Classic Naxxramas), The Four Horsemen (Classic Naxxramas)
    (Note: Classic Onyxia was extremely hard especially for the raiding guilds at the beginning of Classic WoW. She could easily 1 shot tanks and she was so sensitive about DPS hitting her that if a DPS went over the damage, dead! Since Onyxia was immune to Taunt. The last phase was extremely difficult and took strong coordination to succeed)
    Now, I am sorry if I did not mention any bosses from Cataclysm and MoP or if I get any disagreement. But those are accurate as in difficulty from when we were playing at Level 60, 70, 80, 85, 90, etc. Sadly, bosses nowadays take much shorter time to kill compared to Classic WoW bosses where it would take weeks to months to finally down a raid instance not to mention 3 months until Classic Kel'Thuzad was finally downed and over 3 months until Classic Ragnaros was downed. If we had to put the modern bosses back to level 60, they would take a long time to down too.

      @Kryptos0405 9 лет назад

      Will Chapman For the most part today bosses come out better tuned and don't require massive changes or incredible gearing up. Hardcore guilds (more so the Euros/Asians) also raid a hell of a lot longer now than they did at 60. KT lasted 5 days. Conversely Sapp took longer to kill than that. 3 months is because of the gearing/tank stealing requirements for 4 Horseman (and a stealth taunt rejigging that went a long way to helping that a number of people don't achknowledge). Rag needed changes to the spawn rate of the Sons to help get him down which enabled how long he took.The problem with most of these lists is getting people on the same page with what version of boss we're talking about. I quit hardcore raiding after firelands but to this day I think the hardest fights are Yogg-0 when it had up to 5 lights (the one that Stars killed), Heroic LK without a buff (Paragon killed it at 5% but went back and killed it without a buff after farming a bunch of weapons) followed by C'thun, Muru, KT, Gothik, Heroic Rag, Kael and Firefighter. HM to original Al'ar/Mag and post invul-pot nerf Nightbane/Gruul. There's a case to be made that these are as hard or harder than some of the fights I mentioned but they were so god damn broken in terms of requirements and what it took to kill them that I'm not sure Blizzard wanted them killed as quickly as they were.

    • @williamchapman1317
      @williamchapman1317 9 лет назад

      Kryptos U I totally understand your point and you made a really good argument with me on this! As you have experienced Cataclysm and WOTLK more than me, I support you with the idea of the difficulties. Yes, it is true that things changed overtime. About classic Kel'Thuzad, you define 5 days as in the attempts it took on him alone. I totally remember how my guild had to gear up 6 tanks in Tier 3 set to be able to do the Four Horsemen. While some guilds would say 8 tanks was what it took to do the fight, it actually only took 6 tanks as we had our own way of rotating tanks. Gothik the Harvester was also extremely difficult as there were an overwhelming number of adds coming at high speed as the time ticked. I agree with you that Yogg-Saron Zero Light was at an extreme difficulty which was why I included it in my honorable mention. What I was trying to emphasize was how Blizzard made the contents tougher to defeat back in the Classic WoW time compared to today where it would take shorter time despite the massive HP and crazy mechanics on bosses. Do not forget about the attunements that guilds had to work hard back in Classic WoW too! The attunements were an achievement for guilds to have before the Patch 2.1 where people began getting free access to raids. There was the separation between raiding guilds and casual players back then too

    • @Kryptos0405
      @Kryptos0405 9 лет назад

      William Chapman 2.1was when BT/MH were put in the game and there was still a sense of progression which was great. The raid structure was done in a way to train people to get better as they experienced the game through a sense of progression. Unfortunately with TOC in WOTLK they killed this because people wanted to look the same as hardcore raiders... I mean 'experience' content >_>

    • @Kryptos0405
      @Kryptos0405 9 лет назад

      Kryptos U Also, while bosses for the most part live longer in terms of days the shear amount of shared information and attempts that people throw at bosses today makes it hard to equate things by a time metric. Despite the stereotype raiders carried as no lifers back in the day, top guilds tended to raid less often then they do today.

    • @babat304
      @babat304 9 лет назад

      Kryptos U You are very correct about the fact that shared information about raid bosses are spread out nowadays before patches come out thanks to PTR. Back then before PTR came out for Sunwell Plateau, no one could know the strategies to the bosses. When patches came out, people would face the bosses for the very first time not knowing what kind of fight or strategies to a boss at all until they actually fought and learned through multiple wiping. There actually were a lot more wiping in raids in Classic WoW and a lot of expensive repairs than now where people would know strategies before patches came out so they could defeat a boss in just a couple of tries. Actually, guilds back in Classic WoW did raid a lot more than today because 1. Progression was very tough and long 2. There were 40 people who had to get geared up and therefore, it took more runs than 25 man raid to get people ready for the next tier. For example, when I was playing on Medivh server with the second top guild behind Ascent and Fury (When Ascent and Fury, the hall of fame guilds and former top guilds in the world, were playing.), Ascent had a strict requirement that raiders HAD to show up to EVERY raid and nearly everyday. For Classic WoW guilds who were hardcore raiders, if they had people with gear, they cut down on raiding which is true. Just think how long it took to gear up 40 people and there being no vendor selling T1, T2, T 2.5, T3 gear through the use of badges as there were no such thing as badges or heroic dungeons or daily quests to collect badges. Only way was to kill bosses over and over for only 2-3 loots compared to 5-7 loots nowadays. Definitely took A LOT of time…. believe me, I was there when I had T1, T2, and T3 gear and it was a painful experience haha! Also, the biggest obstacle/mistake that Blizzard made was how they handled progression starting with Sunwell Plateau where they blocked some bosses from being killed which was very ridiculous. The reason behind all of that was to attempt to allow casual guilds to catch up with hardcore guilds but the bigger reason was Blizzard thought Nihilum was too overpowered as Nihilum had World First kills since C'Thun and the last straw for Blizzard occurred when Nihilum had World First on EVERY boss in Black Temple. Also, don't forget that more guilds are able to progress as attunements were removed from the game. Also, what ruined WoW during WOTLK was the Normal/Heroic content starting with TOC which I did not like at all as Blizzard apparently turned a wonderful game into a marketing tool to attempt to attract more casual players at a chance at the glory of raiding. Also, Blizzard ruined some mechanics for classes (Most notably Death Knights) just for PvP/Arena which was not the main content of WoW. WoW is based on Lore and progression of the stories through quests, dungeons, and raids. It is true that Death Knights were too overpowered causing Paladin and Warrior and Druid tanks to be rendered useless as Death Knights could tank 20 mobs and even 2 bosses at once easily! (I was a Death Knight when we had the glory of the Unstoppable Frost Tanking Spec!) A lot changed in WoW but Blizzard did the changes for the marketing instead of for the love of the game.

    M'uru is 100% the correct choice here. Broke my guild back in the day. The unreasonable step up in difficulty he was from every other boss in that zone was absolutely baffling. Even after MONTHS of farming sunwell for the the gear to fight him with the DPS check was still so tight that it was near impossible. Every week we would 1 shot the first 4 bosses and gear up that little bit more hoping it would make a difference as our players got fed up and quit 1 at a time. Keep in mind that this was in hayday of ruthless min maxing and attunement during BC. We had downed pre-nerf Brutallus with ease. (1 survival hunter for armor Pen OP shadow priests for their bonkers healing to take less healers warlocks galore because they were just stupid at the time and no 1 else.....). But even after the absolute hardest DPS check boss had ever put in the game was easily dealt with (Brutallus). M'uru still annihilated us 3.5 of our 4 raid nights a week for months until we broke up 2 weeks before the nerf. Blizzard has made a couple of incredible mistakes with with WoW (PVP balance and arena during the first few seasons where every gladiator was druid warrior....) and M'uru are the worst 2 I think.

      A lot of the bosses in Old Naxx weren't terribly hard. Pathwerk was just a gearcheck. Either you had the tank and heals to survive him and the dps to avoid the enrage timer or you didn't. Grobb was the easiest boss in Naxx and easier than any boss in AQ40. Gothik wasn't very hard either. The last half of AQ40 was harder than a number of Naxx bosses.

    • @Kalahn54
      @Kalahn54 8 лет назад +2

      If you don't think that Gothik was hard I doubt you actually played Naxx. The spider thing was fairly easy in comparison with the rest and Razuvious (if you had the priests to do him) and Noth weren't that hard. As for the rest they could be pretty difficult. Loatheb wasn't a very big deal once you got a good rotation going with the spores and when everyone in the raid finally got their shit together and maxed first aid. I'd say the list is pretty accurate actually, apart from Sapphiron and Kel'thuzad since I never got far enough to attempt them (killed 11 bosses in old Naxxramas and most other bosses in the game unnerfed, including Illidan 7th in the world along with a bunch of top 10 and 100 kills in TBC and WotLK).

    • @Andrewxx20
      @Andrewxx20 6 лет назад

      You must be talking about some shitty WOTLK Nax, yeah Pathwerk was a gear check, but to obtain NAxx gear was hard and that was the only danm gear, The jump from Aq40 gear to Nax gear wasnt enough, you had to have full flasks every boss fight and full everything, and beta's back then were not as well known so people wernt clearing naxx on PTR's before it went to retail
      Every boss in NAX was treated like a last boss cause the average gear wasnt good enough.

    Brutus and M'uru were big guild killers back in BC. I know I was in a top guild and we couldn't get past Brutus. But a lot of guilds managed too and couldn't get passed M'uru. Both bosses very challenging and took a big dps/hps check.

    The LK one was ensidia killing it on normal with saronite bombs and they were blocked first week of heroics, but then killed it again with alts to enable heroics the first week.

  • @Oscar797
    @Oscar797 10 лет назад +3

    You've gotten a few things wrong, mate.
    What I'm about to say is of course arguable and we will never know the actual truth. Nevertheless, here's what I think.
    It's flat out immature and irresponsible for such a good guild at the time to act like they thought the rebuilding of the platforms was part of the LK fight.
    Using a saronite bomb in the fight itself wouldn't respawn the platform. It had to actually be thrown on the edge, making the small explosion radius overlap with the edge for that to happen. I simply just don't buy that the huge amount of theory crafters that Ensidia had back then didn't realise this.
    Sure, figuring out that the saronite bombs was the cause might not have been that easy, but for every single player in that raid to think "Oh the platforms are respawning! That must be part of the fight!" instead of thinking "Hey, the platforms are respawning! That totally contradicts the mechanics of the valkyrs. We should report the bug and try to look into why this is happening." is just pathetic and I do not believe that was the case. Because frankly, a top guild with such a high reputation as Ensidia had back then is expected to know better.
    Also, they abused the world first normal encounter. Not heroic.
    As for commenting on the other bosses you mentioned. There's a difference between a hard encounter and a ridiculously overtuned encounter. There was literally NOTHING hard about M'uru.

    • @MrGryph78
      @MrGryph78 10 лет назад +1

      As for m'uru, it may not have been a fight with a lot of mechanical complexity, but it was still a fight where all 25 players had to play within a few percent of their best to get the kill. Just because there wasn't a lot of 1 shot mechanics for everyone to negotiate throughout the entire fight, doesn't mean it wasn't actually difficult to successfully complete.

    The LK exploit was using Saronite Bombs, which made the platform regrow... Saronite Bombs were often times used as part of the standard rotation for some DPS. This is why they didn't know why it was happening and assumed it was normal or just a bug.

  • @MrBellyar

    It easy to see that this video was composed without vanilla experience. For example: Vaelastrasz was one of the few bosses just like Ouro and Patchwerk on which threat wasn't an issue (unless debufed). People complain a lot about this one but in truth the fight required ranged to stay in 1 place melee on his side (not to get cleaved) and tank to do his thing (since he was 100% not to get burning adrenaline). Those with debuff just had to run out of raid (fixed by rl) heal/dps max possible and die. The first boss was much harder, at least for our guild and untill the very end of BC we killed him by glitch (divine intervention + res) which made this boss farmable for us even before we could clear 5th boss in MC.

  • @Gotmilk0112
    @Gotmilk0112 9 лет назад +3

    4Horsemen was not difficult, it just required 8 tanks. Once you had 8 tanks, it was a pretty simple and straight-forward fight.
    Likewise, M'uru wasn't mechanically difficult, it was just heinously overtuned, requiring shaman stacking and everyone to reroll leatherworker for haste drums.

    • @misterscorbunny5524
      @misterscorbunny5524 6 лет назад

      I did vanilla 4 horsemen but you didn't need 8 tanks, 4 was good but 8 made it much easier

    • @plackiplicki3531
      @plackiplicki3531 6 лет назад

      Gotmilk0112 That’s not true. Even with 8 tanks this fight was hard. Guilds figured out in a few weeks that they needed 6+ tanks (8 is the optimal number, two per horseman), and yet even the top guild who had 8stuffed tanks whipped on him like crazy on him. This encounter was difficult, and in no way a simple fight, even with tanks.

    I dont want to be a tbc fanboy but as a person who spent most of his time on wow during tbc with a hardcore progression guild, fights like Vasj, Kael, Hydross and Al'ar before you entered t6 where haaaard. And the you had Teron, Illidan, Archimonde all very hard fights too. Not including AT LEAST 2 or 3 of these bosses shows you didnt raid much during tbc. And the 4 horsemen werent that bad. Also #10 pick is a complete joke. Sort of agree on Mu'ru (because of the fucking RNG) but more people downed him than KJ, which should have been no1 imo. I also remember seeing that hunter on my server with Thori'dal. Simply Orgasmic.

    • @omotiverat
      @omotiverat 9 лет назад

      Teron gorefiend wasnt that hard of a boss, im my opinion it's the most fun boss they've created. Illidan and archimonde was hard as hell, so was vasj and kael i give you that, and the reason im commenting is "the 4 horsemen werent that bad" did you even try it prenerf?

    • @95georgey
      @95georgey 9 лет назад

      omotiverat No i didn't do the boss prenerf since I was not as serious back then. Teron was actually a hard fight since back then there were no instructional videos on the ghost spell rotation so you would have to wipe plenty of times until everyone knew exactly how to keep them away. It was also a mad dps race.

    • @michaelmyers5183
      @michaelmyers5183 9 лет назад

      Archimonde was considerably harder than Kael, Hydross, and Al'ar... Vashj was extremely hard at one point, but Archimonde was a fucking nightmare. I can't remember Gorefiend ever posing a threat? "4h weren't that bad" are you kidding me? I would bet you weren't even near 4h before burning crusade came out. We aren't talking about the easy mode WOTLK Naxx we are talking about the original. Literally NONE of the fights you listed were as hard as 4 horsemen, except MAYBE Mu'ru before nerf. You are glamorizing TBC, which I'm going to guess is because that is either A: when you started playing, or B: when you were introduced to raiding. If you honestly consider bosses like gorefiend/Al'ar/Hydross to be hard bosses then you have very limited raid experience no offense.
      Edit: typo

    • @95georgey
      @95georgey 9 лет назад

      Michael Myers If you had a solid group you could trust there's was no way Archimonde would be huge trouble. Move a lot, dont die. Yes he was way harder than Hydross but Al'ar was no joke. Guilds would pug tk but would be able to kill Al'ar since people didnt actually know what was going on in the fight. Teron was hard too, don't tell me people didn't have trouble with him. Ofc not as hard as the rest of the bosses still equally as hard as requiliary in his own way. Kael was actually a nightmare back in the day when there are no guides and most were kinda shit anyways. The fucking 4 advisors would wipe us so many times.

    I'm proud to say my guild killed M'uru and Kil'Jaedan pre-nerf, server first. Unfortunately most of our guild quit after Trial of the Crusader from boredom so we weren't around for server first Heroic Lich King.

  • @MrGryph78

    The tuning on fights was perfect back then. I don't see end-game raiding as something EVERYONE needs to be able to completely successfully. If you cater to the lowest common denominator, you just end up with the lacklustre, unrewarding dross that bores people enough that they leave the game. Extreme tuning at the start of raid tiers keeps those players interests and then if they relax the requirements of the fight over time, allows the casual players to get their kills (months behind ™) and all is good in the world.

    • @hykoru193
      @hykoru193 9 лет назад

      I think they want casuals to be able to do it with effort after a while, and core players to do it faster and get to the harder modes quicker, this of course is extremely hard to tune right the first time lol I agree they should start harder and then go down and not easy and stay easy.

    • @rowlandbuck2703
      @rowlandbuck2703 9 лет назад +1

      Grull was an open raid so it just depended on how geared your guild was. Downing him before half our raid had less than half of tier 4 was a pretty good challenge. If you waited until you got tier 5, provably not.

    • @HamsterWheelGaming
      @HamsterWheelGaming 9 лет назад

      I've done Gruul's lair many times on the feenix private server and while I agree that High King Maulgar was very tricky, Gruul had incredibly easy boss mechanics. Just spread out, watch out for debris falling from the ceiling and a few spell interrupts.
      I've done it with several groups who only had heroic blues/epics and as long as we managed to kill Gruul before he grew in size too much with a lot of time to spare so honestly, I really don't know why it was mentioned in this list.
