    I don't know, if hirumaredx even research for his videos? Since place 4, he just talked nonsense about bosses and how the nerfes went. Ragnaros frost patches got "removed" far later on and not after killing it for the first time. At kil jaeden he says that entire raids had to switch to goblins, but only priests needed to because they hadn't any possibility to counter one knockback ability in the shadow phase. Every other class was able to do it. At Jaina, people switched to troll to exploit the ability, because you were able to lose the frost debuff ability with the troll racial which shouldn't happen.

    • @Outwardpd
      @Outwardpd 4 года назад

      There is also the fact that KJ's pull count was not only because of overtuning and bugs, it was a relatively bug-free encounter for the most part, also the overtuning was true but only for a very short period of time it was nerfed within days of Method reaching it to where it largely remained for a long time. The main difficulty was the extreme punishment from messing up mechanics even slightly (if you missed soaking a single meteor it was a wipe and there were a lot of meteors at a time, the darkness phase ended up being undertuned once the DK strat was discovered and the final phase was largely undertuned as well but it was also largely BS because the insane amount of pillars meant you needed to even reach the final phase only to be blindsided by a mechanic being turned up to 11 that was largely trivial in the original version, once you're safe spot marker figured out the last phase it was basically guaranteed to die the next time you saw the phase.

    Makes me wonder how much we wiped on Sunwell bosses. You are right, it never occurred to anybody back then to keep track. I do recall several all-nighters against Mu'ru though. Half of that boss fight was dealing with guild turnover.
    We used to rotate drums of battle through a stacked melee group. I had the honor of being Ret in that group (depending on the fight, but mostly Brutalus) back in a time when the spec was barely justifiable in a raid at all. Let alone contributing to ~top 25 kills. Fun times.
    But seeing this laid out, with newer bosses I never heard of. I'll say it feels like I had it easy.

    Jaina was such a trash fight. That fight, if it wasnt broken as f*ck, would have taken 100 pulls, tops.
    First off, she queued her spells, which meant the timings would sometimes be off by a good 10-15 seconds between attempts, completely throwing the entire attempt off.
    Second, in p2, she did a blizzard overlapping with an ice fall, and if you got bad RNG with the ice fall, which was maybe 2-3 attempts per night, it was just a wipe.
    Finally, the intermission phase and phase 3 were completely broken and did not function properly. Continuing to gain stacks during the intermission, combined with the absurd health on the elemental, meant that it was just not mathematically feasible to do p3 and the intermission "properly" without people getting iceblocked, and the iceblocks in mythic were basically unkillable with how much HP they had, so killing iceblocks was not an option. So all the pre-nerf kills of jaina just kept the elemental alive, and burned jaina down in p3, ignoring basically the entire intermission because it did not function properly.
    basically, jaina sucked ass and should only be on this list as a technicality, since it was one of the most mechanically broken fights they had done in a while, and not exactly "hard".

    If you base this list off of mechanics and not game breaking over tuning. Kiljaden, Archimonde and Queen Azur are the hardest.

    classic bosses werent hard, they were bugged, because if you kill a boss with moving slightly to side and spamming one key, is considered hard, i dont know how nostalgic these stupid people who cant even do mechanics right in a normal raid are

    Vanilla guilds not using flasks and minor buffs to max out? Total nonsense. We would grind all week and max out profs if it gave even +5 anything. Love these videos but he is talking out his bottom on this.

      You do know he's obviously not talking about all of the guilds, right?
      Of course, some guilds min-maxed, but it's common in the WoW community to know that min-maxing wasn't a big thing in the original version of the game thus only a small % of players did it compared to today.

    Jaina was a horrible fight from a design standpoint on mythic. Her spell queuing caused so much RNG that you could be 200+ pulls in and still get different combinations of attacks.

    • @BloomingSnow
      @BloomingSnow 4 года назад

      Yeah, it really was. She did some spellqueuing in hc as well but mythic just threw that out of the water.
      Nothing like doing a pull where she somewhat follows the ability order she should and then next pull she casts nothing but her tank ability for like a minute straight before throwing you into the hell of Blizzard, Avalanche, whatever the frontal cone was called and then bombardment for good measure in the span of five seconds.
      Not only that but some of the other mechanics were random as well, making the fight pure RNG fest and you could lose a perfect pull to shit RNG you could do nothing about. Undetectable Icefalls through your raid because of Blizzard were a good design, right? :')

      Eh more like a skewed version of it since Uunat definitely wouldn't be #1, Fallen Avatar wouldn't be on the list at all, nor would Garrosh/Azshara, and arguably Archimonde because the vast majority of guilds found Archimonde/Garrosh to be very easy once the resources were released. Azshara/Fallen were just RNG paired with insane gear requirements and Uunat's wipe count is massively inflated.

    Min/maxing is the curse of modern gaming. Choosing a profession just for a moderately easier raid experience? This is not RPG anymore, might as well go play Excel tables.
    I mean if a player enjoys min/maxing it's totally fine. But when such players start to define game experience for every single other player they come in contact with, then there's a problem.

    With regards to Uu'nat, Unstable Resonance wasn't the main reason why it required so many wipes to kill. The fight was a mess of timings, and you had many pulls which were RNG wipes because of bad overlaps. For example for a significant part of progression he could drop pools mid resonance, meaning you had the choice between a third of the raid dying - which is a wipe - or healing the boss - which is a wipe. It was also bugged to hell and back for the first couple of days, the adds permanently healed after they had started healing once, making the fight once again more or less impossible + many other things. All in all it was just a stupidly hard fight.

    BfA may suck but the raids where pretty good (in fact the only thing that keep me playing the game), in particular BoD was my favourite. Also the addition of "encounter music" is a thing that i'll always remember from this exp. Still the removing of Tier sets is a BIG con tho.

  • @Amoreyna

    H 25M LK probably has a wipe count closer to 300. Remember the limited attempts per week and the fact that top guilds were running at least two teams a week - their mains and a replica of alts to figure out mechanics/come up with strats before their mains were brought in. Top guilds during this time period talk about the frustration of the limited attempts as it increased the work-load for them due to an arbitrary number of attempts per week. Plus, it seemed like a moot point as H LK was buggy and over-tuned, so dealing with that alone would make the 50 attempts per week even more hair-pulling.

    The other aspect of Uunat is that the fight was just incredibly tightly tuned because mythic raiders complained about Battle for Dazar'alor being undertuned except for Jaina. Since it was basically a 'bonus' instance for people who had finished BfD already, Blizzard just jacked the numbers up to the absolute edge of human possibility, crossed their arms and said 'beat it'. And they did, eventually.
    Contrast with ToS Kil'jaeden, where they got it to the point where the in-house raid team could just barely beat it and then jacked the numbers and mechanics up by another 25% to compensate for how much better the world first-level players were, except it turned out the in-house raiders weren't as bad as they thought they were.

    i prefer having last boss over tune, players can farm other bosses for better gears and attempt it again. Even if they cannot kill the boss there might be progression like get the boss to 30%, 25%, 20% every week. Last boss should be powerful, maybe player has to wait for later raids gear to boost their power to kill the boss. if you know that you still have a boss to beat, it will at least give you a reason to keep playing to improve your gear.

  • @shakeweller
    @shakeweller 4 года назад

    You forgot to mention that Uunat had a mechanic where it was benefitial to have someone die and get rezzed outside of the room to trigger one of the artifact which lead to most guilds abusing the shamans ankh mechanic to deal with it. This lead to the infamous cataclysm dungeon reset which gave shamans the ability to reset the 30min xD on ankh for every boss pull.
    Many guilds just didn't want to have to summon their shamans from a Cata dungeon every pull for 500 attempts (which is exploiting anyways) or didn't have 2 shamans to do the mechanic at all. So they skipped the raid on mythic.
