      starbtle The one thing I didn't agree on in this video was the god breaker fight. That shit was the most fun I have ever had in game and I've been playing since vanilla. And the pugs that I got made it look easy. Take that fight then add some evanescence = Epic fcking time.

    • @FluffieXStarshine
      @FluffieXStarshine 8 лет назад +2

      I agree the god breaker fight was fun, but at the same time a lot of pug groups sucked at the mechanics. People would not stack on the chains, they would let the ghosts get to the healers... would not dps chains after they were released... I mean if you had a good group or a guild group it wasn't an issue... but a lot of pugs were just stupid and expected it to be like the other cata dungeons post-nerf which was not the case.

    • @jrex3

      We always just had a DK throw a circle down and AoE the adds it was never a problem and we just did it in the middle of the room. DK Circle a decent tank and a fury warrior spamming whirlwind cleave and slam would decimate them. #blizzardgivebackourwhirlwind

    • @jjstraka1982
      @jjstraka1982 8 лет назад

      Falric and Marwyn have nothing to do with the difficulty of the fight. It's the waves of 5 adds that are the problem. I never saw one group actually wipe while fighting Falric OR Marwyn....

      Yeah I was convinced that one was going to be on the list. I detested that fight. You literally had to sit back and watch your character blow all your cooldown's, attack your healer, get smashed in the face by your tank,and as I was maining hunter at the time, the mind control used to change my aspect and burn through all my mana ...and when you got control back, if you were still alive, you had to deal with the shit-show the mind control had left you in >.< My tank friend ALWAYS killed me in that fight, the bastard..even though it wasn't really his fault lmao.

    I'm realllly surprised Corla, Herald of Twilight wasn't on the list. The beams mechanic was rocket science for 90% of the people in cata, also she could fear people soaking beams, interrupting the soak and summoning the 2 adds that hit like a truck.
    Of course, we're talking for gear appropriate fight. Later in cata you could just tank and spank her down before the adds even spawn. :D

  • @teardowndan5364
    @teardowndan5364 8 лет назад +13

    Ah, good ol' Cataclysm. The first and only expansion I played on a pretty hardcore basis: I cleared all the heroic dungeons within three weeks from launch through LFG on my main (resto shaman) and two of my alts (bear and prot pally) shortly thereafter. Doing heroics while almost only hardcore players meet the minimum gear level necessary to get in and the fights are still new for everyone was so much fun, it felt like doing 5-man raids with most players willing to wipe as many times as necessary to get it done as long as there are signs of progress towards a win being made.
    Not having to put up with people expecting you to know everything about every fight before your first try and people who give up on the first wipe was such a refreshing experience. My first Heroic Cataclysm dungeon clears took a few hours each but I hadn't had that much fun in WoW before or after. I quit WoW after my Cataclysm guild fell apart from drama, tried coming back for the next content patch and got a brutal reminder of how unforgiving the WoW player base tends to be to players who take breaks or aren't in new content from day-one. I haven't logged into my WoW account since.

    • @badass6300
      @badass6300 5 лет назад

      Yeah, the real problem with modern WoW are the people, not the game itself or any particular expansion... they just quit as they expect to be carried and don't want to learn by doing, they want you to go and fuckin watch/read guides... spoiling a big portion of the fun of a boss... :/

    Every Grim Batol boss should be on the list. The 1st. guy killed a lot of people with his charge, many noobs killed the purple trogg by the boss making the boss 1 shoot the tank. The 3rd boss was a nightmare to place him, you have to stay out of the cloud he makes, avoid the breath of the dragon, but the cherry atop the cake was the adds, even if your group was decent, sometimes an add would spawn on the time the dragon was breathing and noone would spot it quick and then reach whoever it was the target that because of the mechanic was hidding next to everybody else behind the dragon and game over. I've wipe WAY more times to the 3rd boss in fact then any other in GB. The No. 1 Ozruk funny thing, i've wipe very few times, the real deal with Ozruk is that the whole fight falls on the shoulder of the tank. And i was the tank.... so clearing the trash i realy need before the fight, position the boss in a relative good spot (facing the big column to the left) made the fight actualy easy. Even very early on the xpac. All i had to explain was to the melee, that when they get paralized for a second, that was their call to run out of the circle. Even if the healer get stunned it wasn't a big deal. Cause noone else was taking dmg atm.

    Hiru totally missed King Gordok from Dire Maul North (Vanilla). Final boss of the entire instance and also the one boss of the tribute runs. He hit like a truck, taking a third of the tank's health in one single hit. At the time, healers could not sustain this. He also had a mini-boss Cho'rush who hit like a normal Vanilla boss. The whole fight was dealing with a boss and an overtuned boss. The only way to complete this without insane raid gear was to have a hunter tank the boss. To make matters worse, you could not kill Cho'rush until Gordok was down, otherwise Gordok would enrage and wipe the whole group within seconds. Another way of combatting the bosses was to have your healer grab some mana potions and sit on the nearby ledge and cast their most powerful healing spells until the healer had the most aggro and waited for Cho'rush to follow them to the top of the ledge and jump down. You also were required to have a protection warrior who could cast Last Stand since the boss hit so damn hard.

    As someone who played a lot of holy paladin back in cataclysm I can tell you that your Judgement triggered the bleed. You'd have to be pretty careful with the timing though since the bleed's duration isn't that long.
    I'd like to give an honorable mention to Jan'alai in Zul'aman. So many pugs I tried to tell the dps to kill ONE of the adds that spawn. If we kill neither, we wipe immediately. If we kill both, we wipe when boss is at 35%.

      Not only in hc. Even if you had t2 at 60, ramps trash could rape your tank and heal in 2s with cc + burst. BF ninjas could split you in half without your healer being able to do anything, mines on engineers = OS, 2 bosses could OS.
      Every trash in TBC could make you wipe, Maghteridon ones are brutal, SSC ones are brutal, TK ones, any raid ones actualy. TBC was just a real xpac, with mechanics made to teach you how to play, focus, cc, think (like no hot on tank at pull, los first mob spells, mc most dangerous mob, positioning...).
      Only xpac close to this level of challenge being vanilla and cata (to4w or twilight raid hc were dope af, same for dungeons/hc).

      You're absolutely right, Athos. I started playing shortly after Burning Crusade launched, and mained a Fire Mage... back in the day, THREAT was a real thing - unlike now where you couldn't pull aggro off a tank if you tried and the tank fell asleep.
      My GL made me put Omen as about 1/8th of my screen before Malchezzar every single time... lol. I learned to fear that giant red screen flashy. Interrupt, switch to Scorch, pray for my hate bar to go back down...

      It took many to realise that the sheer number of adds in a pack of BC trash was almost untankable by most pug warriors, but still nobody would accept paladin or druid tanks. This changed eventually when everyone realised their AOE threat was amazing compared to warriors, and so the pally and druid tank finally got some love from the WoW playerbase, whilst warriors were megapissed most of the expansion until they were given uncapped AOE on their skills in Wrath.

      Indeed. Shadow labs and Shattered Halls were both difficult. The former because of an annoying gimmick boss in part, though the final boss was not easy either. The latter because it required a solid grasp on game mechanics to progress smoothly.
      I remember running shattered halls over, and over, and over again, day after day for months. Eventually the perfect team comp was Fire Mage/Warlock/Elemental Shaman with a druid healer..
      Eventually Shattered Halls was something I cleared with pugs within 30 minutes total on heroic. Once T6 content came out all it took was a restoration druid's Lifebloom to keep me up, paladin tanks who stacked block rating and value were ridiculous in that place.
      Good times.
      Cata heroics during launch were the best, though unless somebody suffered through the struggle of vanilla and tbc, it was likely they wouldn't have the skill to survive the steep difficulty spike following after wotlk.

    Blizzard decided that Pallies should be melee healers in Cata, so if the boss didn't have mechanics that required them to be in ranged, they often meleed bosses for mana return and free heals. Ozruk was one of the bosses they used to reinforce this idea with pallies since, like you said, we needed the bleed effect to break the stun so being in melee was our best option.

    Scourge lord Tyrannus needs to be on here, now that timewalking is a thing. I've literally never beaten him since timewalking started, despite knowing the fight like the back of my hand since Wrath.
    The tank never runs from "POWAH OVERWHELMING".
    They never kite him through ice patches.
    Everyone ignores marks, either blowing up the tank (dps mark) or healing the boss back to full (healer mark).
    Hot tip, if you get Pit of Saron, drop group. It'll be a massive wipe fest on every boss and you won't even finish.

    • @hellboy19991
      @hellboy19991 8 лет назад

      The funny thing about the boss, in early WoD I leveled a pala together with my brother as a dk. We locked our exp to do herald of the titans. The first instances we wanted to do to get some gear were the three icc instances, heroic of course. We wiped once or twice on every boss until we had a strat (we were really crappy geared about 140-150).
      When we did Tyrannus we wiped like ten times with me as a heal and him as a tank. I switched to tank to smooth out the damage we took or whatever. My brother died at about 50%. I killed him solo from then on. If you know what you are doing as a tank, it's a cakewalk

    • @luksp96
      @luksp96 8 лет назад

      You're kinda too undertuned for Pit of Saron timewalking, every other tw is a cakewalk.

      @luksp96 8 лет назад

      Strongside The thing with TW is that you can't overgear it since you're scaled down, sure you can optimize your gear to do more dmg etc. but you still can't really ignore mechanics.

You'd very often do him without quite enough gear to take him on, (unless you had raid gear), and he would splat tanks, and his fire would splat heals and DPS alike, and the second phase transition was one of those spikes in DPS that healers will be spam-healing on, and still fail to have sufficient throughput on.

    Hmmm i reckon scholo and strat ud in vanilla was pretty hard.. Not one of these bosses in video gave me more trouble back then except for the halls of reflection one.. That was so annoying as warrior tank.. Was ok as paladin as aoe threat was no issue. My vote for the hardest dungeon.. Vanilla UBRS or BRM. I had a saturday where it took me 9 hours to finish a UBRS run as shit was so hard to find healers back then and no one would join a pug group.. And .. BRM... Just annoying. So annoying how big the dungeon was. Needing a rogue to unlock doors, to open a door that was a game mechanic to progress on, insane aoe fire eles later on, the emp runs where your healer got killed by e fast respawns while trying to drink.... I cannot believe youre saying those dungeons in the video had to have awarenes.. You needed all of that in vanilla just to go through a dungeon.. As hardly anyone was overgeared for a dungeon. If they were they would be doing raids. Or the infamouse 45 baron runs..... O do I miss the good ol days..

      The boss was actually super easy once you told People how to get rid of the stun. But to be fair you could fill 10 lists just with early Cata, BC, Vanilla and some WotLK bosses because most of them where tough as nails if not overgeared.

    Omg Jin'do. Sooo many wipes and bad memories. F*ck that guy lol. I remember Ozruk and solo'ing him down as a prot pally once the rest of my team was dead. It took a while but self heals were awesome back then.

    Dear god, Ozruk. Funnily enough, I never had any issues with that boss even before the dungeons got nerfed, but hearing that quote sent a shiver up my spine.

    Oculus is one of the greatest dungeons in the game -.- just because ppl are to dumb to find their way around or adapt to a drake wtih 4 abilities is the dungeon bad?
    I enjoyed oculus for how different it was from the rest would enjoy a new oculus in the expansion after legion maybe in a raid like they did in ulduar

      It was sooo tedious after the first few times. Even worse was if you were in a pug with someone who wasn't experienced with it and made mistakes. Nothing worse than wiping on those effing dragons.

    Feel like a good number of those cata zul grub and zul aman patch bosses were actually pretty challenging but yea Jindo was crazy, loved getting his heroic weapon drop though.

    From what I remember in cata when I was in PUGS we had a lot of wipes on Hakkar but not really on Ozruk . He had some things that caught off guard some people but that was rare ( at least in my cases)

      Ozruk was nerfed by that time. I remember they doubled his cast-time for Shatter and Ground Slam (not sure about the Ground Slam, but definitely for Shatter). They also added the swirly visual around Ozruk when he casted Shatter, that wasn't there on release and before he got nerfed.

    12:10 "What boss could be harder than the Godbreaker? How about a boss that required individual responsibility and coordination, _but_ also had a one-shot mechanic?"
    *"BREAK YOURSELVES UPON MY BODY"*
    Gets me every time. :D I can see why you dropeed the voicelines so quickly, but you gotta admit they were used pretty well in this video.
