Kexin has the most dynamic and exciting routine, and best releases (laid out jaeger, li ya release to jaeger, sky high tkatchev), but BAD on transitions and a little less elegant than the other two. Nastia is the most elegant (because shes the tallest IMO), and WHEN her form is good it's amazing. Boring releases and terrible dismount though. Yilin is consistent, and always has such perfect form, hits everything, The least dynamic though, but beautiful to watch. They all deserve the gold tbh.
@kpenda I agree about Liukin and I think Yilin were underscored (as always). But it seams to me kinda harsh to put Kexin in the bronze position just cause of a low catch on a Jaeger, since the leg separations and others mistakes by Liukin were made in all of her routine.
@Missnewyork28 Sure, here her Pak could be better, and her bars dismount is always fugly, but apart from that I enjoy watching her routine, especially the pirouettes. But her handstands are perfect EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. YYL and He couldn't say the same thing. But I still wish that more people did stalders, like Amy Chow. That alone would be better than all these crazy release moves and combos.
@moopoo66 Yes it is. Read the code of points. Also, Nastia moved her leg back towards the other leg which counts as a step. So, .3 for the cowboy .1 for the lack of height .1 or .3 for the staggered landing .1 for the flexed feet .1 for the step.
@Missnewyork28 Ok you don't need to get into a tizzy over this. Liukin was a beautiful gymnast, and if you can't see this, then you clearly need glasses. She was very clean, yes even on bars. He had some god-awful things in her routine, but she won (by a very stupid tie-breaker, I might add). YYL was super clean, so who knows. But on vault Nastia was flawless. On beam she was superior, and even on floor she was fantastic. Show me a gymnast who's perfect on every skill and I'll concede.
Oh,shut up haters! did you help your team to win gold in worlds 2007? Did you brought all around gold from OLYMPIC GAMES?? You cant say anything bad about her,she should've won this thing,Kexin had terrible landing on her dismount (TWO STEPS) Nastia stuck her's,both had very late pirouettes, and he kexin as always had that dead hang! You cant compare those 2,it is like a giant and a baby (baby - underage, sure looked like that) !
the only thing that keeps me from saying yilin shouldve won is her kip cast, always so labored it breaks the flow of the routine and it just ugger. nastia's gienger is BEAUTIFUL, how someone that tall can do a completely laid out gienger is beyond me.
@Missnewyork28 No,i dont think she is the best, but she was little better than he kexin...and when you mentioned cheng fei.....no one should be medaled with a fall....it is just wrong!
that low bar pirouette is really bad, and the form on the dismount is bad as well, which I guess equals to he kexin's dead hang and her very late 1.5 pirouette
Nastia should have won hands down. He Kexin had mistakes as well and they were more severe IMO.
In a sport as subjectively scored as gymnastics, there should NEVER be a tie breaker. What a complete joke in the sport for there to be one.
That's what judging gymnastics is all about though -- spotting the errors. If you only judged on what they did well, then everyone would take gold.

@PLANETIMAGE You can't take greater than a .1 deduction for crossed legs. It's in the Code of Points.

@JohnPhilipSousa519 Yilin had the most amazing handstands, IMO
@ant630 Nastia landed with her legs separated which is the same deduction as a step
@Missnewyork28 i dont know about that. she won an olympic medal, it must be pretty good gymnastics.
@AnnaPavlovaFan I agree. I still think Nastia had the tiniest of edge over He Kexin in this particular case. It's hard to say though.
Nastia should have won the gold.....hands down.
but nastia did stick her dismount and he kexin had an obvious step that should count for something, meaning she should have won

omg her mom!
@adulationx yea and meanwhile the commentator wants to say "whoa a bit of a leg separation there" like REALLY u only saw that one?
@adulationx I know, at the ned, she got cocky :/
Was that Nina Kim sitting next to Nastia's mom?
Nastia did have less visible mistakes
You have to see it from judges' perspective, her pak had some problems as well

yes commentator, let's just ignore the atrocious form on her dismount...
@Missnewyork28 i know she wasn't clean here, but she did great job at the olympics, and people still say a lot of bad things about her!
