It depends on how the judges deduct Beth's landing, actually. Without her error, Vika would've scored 16.166 ahead of Aliya, but were Beth's extra steps counted as two small ones or just one big one? If Beth was deducted .2 for the steps, Vika would've won. If it's .3, Beth did. So probably it would go: 1. Beth - 16.216 2. Vika - 16.166 3. Aliya - 16.133 or 1. Vika - 16.166 2. Aliya - 16.133 3. Beth - 16.116 Regarding Gabby... even if she hits her routine, I think at most she'd score about 15.8. High enough for fifth but not ahead of Kexin and th above three.
Gabby's routine is always robotic and awkward to me, she can do the difficult moves extremely well, but very low artistry. Mustafina's routine is always silky smooth, very expressive, powerful and elegant all at the same time.

The problem with Komova was that typical, abusive Russian style of coaching. It really bugs me when NBC commentators say "it might come down to the dismount." There are places all over the routine where the judges are deducting and the dismount is not even the tip of the iceberg in terms of tenths. It may have been decades ago that it WAS more of a big deal, not sure, someone feel free to tell me, but in these routines, judges are deducting all over the routines. If Mustafina had taken a step, she would have still won. The only steps that may have been more consequential were Beth's because she took multiple large steps on her dismount. I love these routines though. All of them!
Can someone explain to a non-gymnast why Mustafina’s routine looks so much easier than the others? Obviously her routine is probably just as hard as the others in reality, but it appears half as hard. Why?
Part of the reason it seems easy is because it's so short - and it's so short because she connects a ton of elements together, which adds to her difficulty. And the part is that she starts almost every skill with a difficult entry like a stalder (straddling her legs) or an inbar (piking her legs in between her arms) - she gets more points for doing that than she would by doing those same skills straight of a giant or something. But don't forget, she's just so smooth that she makes the hard stuff look easy - usually when something "looks difficult" it's because the gymnast is struggling with it and probably incurring deductions along the way.
Aliya Mustafina gets most of her difficultly by connecting one skill right after the other. She does handstands before all releases and before her dismount. She gets a connection value every time she does that which adds to her difficulty score. Also, she does things like stalders (straddling her legs around her arms), toe ons (touching your toes on the bar), and inbars (piking her legs between her arms) which add to her difficulty, If you look at Tweddle and Kexin’s routines, don’t use these handstands. Tweddle’s difficulty is mostly from connecting difficult release moves and high to low bar connections. Kexin’s is almost all about releases too. She does some handstands but doesn’t do any of the inbar or stalder moves that Aliya does. On top of this, Aliya has very smooth and natural swing, which makes everything look effortless.
She connects element after element which isn't as flashy but is extremely difficult. Beth, for example, relies on big releases to get her difficulty score up. Mustafina focuses on connections and perfect form, but don't be deceived, hers is an extremely hard routine and she nailed it with perfect form throughout.
She took 3 big steps (0.3) and showed lack of balance on landing, small steps, wrong landing posture, etc. The minor errors also cost her a lot, she couldn't have won unless she absolutely stuck the dismount like Aliya, which she never ever did. Only Vika had stuck her Fab dismount in AA final, she could've produced a better score than Aliya. But even she hadn't crossed 16.133 in AA
I’ve watched this several times and I don’t understand how she won gold. Even though Beth didn’t stick the landing her routine was more difficult. Mustafina’s routine was safe and basic the other two had more difficulty
Kexin He joked that whether Biles withdrew from the team final because of relapse of ADHD when she commented on the live broadcast of the competition. She was just so rude and not aware of how ignorant she was🤮🤮🤮
I need to say... In one hand, I love the new style on beam this years... More releases, more inovation (Nina and Kayla styles). But I miss seeing something close to mustafina form on beam. Her legs, her feet, her body positionong during all the routine. It seems no one does it that clean anymore.

@@danecampbell4106 No, she wouldn't have. The step is a .1 deduction and Mustafina won by more than that.
Andrew also her chest was down on the landing which could’ve been up to three tenths depending on how the judges felt.
If Beth had stuck it I have no doubt she would’ve won. About .3 off at the end so her score probably would’ve been 16.216
She took 3 big steps (0.3) and showed lack of balance on landing, small steps, wrong landing posture, etc.
I adore Musty. She's my fave. But I'm so happy for Beth!
When al says how long does that last for aliya's lead I'm like um... 4 years
8 years actually
@@prajaktapendse7310 well I guess you could say that
Hopefully 12
Let's hope she continues to reign in 2020!! Mustafina for Gold! ❤️❤️
@Daniel Rocha True! American commentators always downplay other gymnasts as if they're the only ones who deserve any glory.
My three favorite bar workers
Really admire each one of them and ❤ Aliya
Queen Mustafina 👑 💙🇷🇺 Aliya did the most perfect routine 🤩🥇👏🏻
Mustafina wanted to hug Komova then quickly changed her mind xD
I think Tweddle should've had the highest start value...
There's no such thing as a start value...
Beth, Aliya, Vika (and maybe Yao) all got 7.0 SV and He Kexin got 7.1 SV
@@flfm6736 i think yao had a 6.8
Nicole maybe you are right. I'm just not sure about her SV
@@Trenton.D you're wrong as all get out. SMH
Still watch gymnastics because of (QUEEN) ALIYA MUSTAFINA
Aliya fue más limpia en la ejecución. Las 3 hicieron un maravilloso trabajo😘😘😘
I am huge fan of Aliya Mustafina. I watched her win as a 11 year old kid.
Queen Mustafina 😍😌👑👏❤
Amazing bars routine 😭😍😍
maravillosa Mustafina!!!
Felt bad for Komova. Mustafina is not my favorite, but her execution was near flawless, she delivered.
Алия шикарна!Учитывая как попадали в Токио. ..
Man, Beth is brilliant
Fantastic Aliya 👍😍
Mustafina is undisputed QUEEN
И тут выходит Алия.... ✌✌✌✌✌
why do we even bother going to Spiderman movies anymore when we can just watch this
Bruh Beth’s dismount cost her like 4 tenths I wish she fought harder on that 😭😭
2 big steps and 3 small steps - 9 tenths, but you’re only allowed to take 8 tenths on a landing. The judges were biased. Yao Jinnan deserved bronze.
Aliya jee so fantastic and dynamic Olympic video.
16.133 .... A true Olympian
If only Beth stuck that double double
Бравооо, Алия❤️💚
I’ve watched this several times and I don’t understand how she won gold. Even though Beth didn’t stick the landing her routine was more difficult. Mustafina’s routine was safe and basic the other two had more difficulty
You have no idea what is gymnastics is
@@chinzorigbyambasuren19 you have no idea how to engage in a conversation. I can tell you don’t know what you’re talking simply by your response
Best!Лучшая!❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Какая умничка Алия!
Beth was amazing
Elizabeth T. is really great, Aliya Mustafina is gold medal too!!
Remember when Simone Biles still was a junior and you still had no idea who would the Olympics? Crazy times
Great Mustafina, great sport family...
Ms He should be the gold! Unlucky
Kexin He joked that whether Biles withdrew from the team final because of relapse of ADHD when she commented on the live broadcast of the competition.
She was just so rude and not aware of how ignorant she was🤮🤮🤮
I used to thing He Kexin’s name was pronounced HEE-KEX-IN
Omg same!!
He kexin got the disadvantage by being positioning first one to perform.
Didn't matter. She had errors and rightfully got the silver.
That doesn’t matter she was nowhere near as clean as Aliya
Thats not a disadvantage. She actualy performed first at Beijing and she won anyway.
How did the judges find more than .8 from Aliya’s routine? Can any people with judging experience explain to me????
I need to say... In one hand, I love the new style on beam this years... More releases, more inovation (Nina and Kayla styles). But I miss seeing something close to mustafina form on beam. Her legs, her feet, her body positionong during all the routine. It seems no one does it that clean anymore.
Not beam, bars
@@federicapiottoli6922 YES! I mean bars 😅😅😅
ALIYA IS QUEEN OF GYMNAST........
I really wish Elisabeth tweedle got gold cuz her routine was so difficult
Ricky Phu Maybe if she came close to sticking her dismount. She almost fell over, I mean cmon. You’re not going to win gold with a dismount like that.
@@seanhartel5362 It was also very sloppy throughout.
it was difficult but not with the highest difficulty. He had the highest difficulty and tweddle was sloppy throughout ger bars in ef
Наша татарочка из России самая красивая лучшая❤❤❤Алия
As much as mustafina is great, kexin and tweddle were so unique! I was def rooting for Beth and if only that dismount was standard she would’ve easily taken it!
Queen Aliya!!
