Great vid. As a straight up model of the Tie, I’ve got to give it to the vintage based on your vid. Looks spot on, nicely detailed and not too toy like
The Vintage is BETTER looking for sure. The only thing is that the wings are EXTREMELY brittle. SAME mechanism broke on the two I bought. They broke whilst on display.... I’m 47yrs old. It wasn’t played with... I opted to glue both (wasn’t as easy as you would think, with the tension from the inner springs.)
I agree with previous comments! The comparison of both is awesome! A combination of both versions would probably be the perfect version...but owning both is definitely a win! I just saw that (some) Walmart stores have the TVC TIE Fighter on sale for $40! I wish I lived in the U.S. - thanks for sharing your thoughts! Still wish you a lot of fun with these great additions to your awesome collection! Cheers from Germany!
The vintage is awesome looking as a static model. Dimensions wise, it’s probably the most film accurate “toy” they’ve made. I would clip the springs and glue the wings. Can’t wait till the rollback at Walmart. 😎
YEP! I did that on mine too! I kept the spring because it held the wing panels in place while the epoxy dried. I used Gorilla Glue two part epoxy to glue the Panels on and they are NICE and STRONG and RIGID Now!
The "Vintage" version is MUCH more "Screen Accurate" IMO! I have two of them that I was able to snag off of E-Bay for under $40. 00 each! I WISH they would have done the Darth Vader TIE Advanced with as MUCH Detailing! I've since done some "Up Grade" painting to both of them and then will hang display them in my Hobby Room!
At $40 dollars the Force Link Tie rules . I purchased 2. One is suspended from the ceiling and the other is displayed as a wreckage. The other cool thing about this unique ship separation is that I can also separate the suspended one so both panels are separated as if floating ship debris.
There is nothing wrong with the Force Link 2.0 wrist band. As a kids toy it does bring enjoyment. Especially if you own quite a few Force Link figures. Speaking of which, a lot of the Force Link 3.75 figures look fantastic. If I would have had these when I was a kid I would have been inside Star Wars heaven 😺
i really like how you show the comparison in depth of detail.
Thanks

Pretty good idea with the wings. I love rollback
The AngryTrooper ...
If there’s screws, you could probably just disassemble it, and remove the springs altogether.

Nice, I'm a sucker for custom paint jobs
Ollie's has the Force Link TIEs for $8 USD in Virginia. I bought six of them for less than the cost of one Vintage Collection TIE lol
