What if she was the fan? You can't assume anything. She's the same age as I am and we were all introduced to anime because of DB and YYH. Btw, local TV stations don't have stylists and makeup people. they mostly do their own styling.
Akira Toriyama is not dead. Why? Because someone is only truly dead when they are forgotten. I can assure you… Akira Toriyama will never be forgotten. Legends do not die
In the US in 1999, Toonami was airing the second half of the Namek saga. In October of that year I had a spinal injury that left me in the hospital for six weeks. I had to learn how to do everything again as I healed - I had to learn how to walk again, how to feed myself, how to write, etc. I would have six to eight hours of therapy every day to try and get me better, and every day I would make sure to be done by 5:30 so I could watch Dragonball Z. One specific day was extremely rough and I ended up in a really sour and sad mood, being bitter that my progress had hit a wall over the previous week. I was extremely depressed bordering on suicidal. Then that night, the episode of Goku going SSJ played. It was everything about it - the scream, the music, the sense that he was pushing through to something just past his grasp and finally achieving it - that just floored me. I related so much to Goku in that moment. It gave me the motivation to keep pushing forward. It took another year of therapy, but I finally made a full recovery. Dragonball has meant so much to me at every stage of my life since then, and to find out that Toriyama is gone now just hurts on a level that's so hard to describe. I remember reading a quote about the reason we cry when creators, artists, singers, etc pass away. It's not because we knew them - it's because they helped us to know ourselves.
Damn man…your story was the like the perfect blend with dbz that only comes once every 1000 years…the legendary super saiyan…had me mad emotional…happy you’re still striving and that quote at the end was profound…
Childhood??? Dragon Ball has been a part of my life since I was 10 and still continues to be well into my adult years. There's no way that Toriyama knew the full extent of influence he's had on MULTIPLE generations across the entire planet, R.I.P. Toriyama and thank you for your life changing work.
When the editor guy said that if they drew nothing they'd just draw goku or vegeta it threw me back so far in my school days! coming to school to discuss dbz episodes and showing off the drawings of different characters of dbz was the shizz back then here in India!! It's crazy how many communties akira touched unironically and ironically. Black, white, hispanic, chinese, japanese ofc, indians, africans, gymbros, meme culture, everything influential in some or the other form has referenced his works. What a way to live and what an impression to leave on the world!! RIP you absolute legend!!
It was early 90s when I first watched Dragon Ball, Dragon Quest. While other kids wants to be a Teacher, Engineer etc. Akira Toriyama inspired me to be an artist and to take good care of my body. thank you and rest in peace.
Akira Toriyama will be missed... I am a HUGE fan of Dragon ball especially DBZ. That was a classic... I have the Action figures, Manga's and even a Signed Poster of Dragon ball 🐉 from him... I've watched DB, Z, Super, Movies, All the Mangas and most importantly have appreciated all of them. As a Kid, i have always wanted to write a letter to him saying thank you... But that dream will never be fulfilled... His work can truly never be copied... 😔😞😣 *me finally crying*😭
Respect to the reporter for the colors. What a life this man had! Akira put in the same amount of love into small projects like Cowa than he did to the Dragon Ball projects. The man's passion was insane! From Dr. Slump, Dragon Ball, Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest, and everything in between, an entire world of people are feeling this loss. He once said something along the lines that his goal was to create something that would be around long after his death. It's safe to say he accomplished his mission a few times over. Legacy established! I will miss you sir! Rest in peace you Legend.
Talk about letting your fanaticism speak for itself while announcing the saddest news you could think of (as a fan) of a beloved memory and yet remain professional. Wow... very well done. RIP Toriyama-sensei. Gone but will never be forgotten!

Was not expecting a local news station to show this much respect. A lot of people are dismissive but this was very well done. And yes, I wanted to hear the newscaster's own thoughts given that she's got the Goku look going on, so either her, her wardrobe manager, or both are big fans.
It's heartwarming to see how influential Dragon Ball is when you see MMA fighters, Wrestlers, Athletes, Celebrities, Politicians, Countries, shows, and other forms of media showing respect and mourning over Toriyama sensei's passing.
I first watched Dragon Ball when I was 9 years old in the year 2000. I'm now age 33. My brother was a huge fan of the entire story. We even played several video game titles, especially the Budokai fighting games. I've recently started watching Dragon Ball Super and playing both Dragon Ball Xenoverse games. I even bought Dragon Ball Z Kakarot. I read one person wishes they had all seven Dragon Balls. They'd wish to bring Akira Toriyama back to life. Thank you, Akira Toriyama, for over 40 years of Dragon Ball. Until the next time. 🧡
