Why Is The Mclaren F1 So Expensive?

  • Have you ever dreamt as a kid, to one day buy and drive one of those fancy supercars you saw on TV? Jaguar, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and many more… Only to discover that their prices were a bit too high for your income?
Well, we've all been through that. Growing up some cars became surprisingly affordable, while there were others left to be a desire of car collectors.
However, what you don't know is that there is one particular supercar that is so expensive it plays on an entirely different field of luxury and rarity.
It's the 1994 McLaren F1, the legendary model designed by Gordon Murray.
If you played Gran Turismo 7, you may be familiar with the price of this car, but for those who don't, the McLaren F1 has a current value of 20.500.000 dollars during its latest auction, a number that makes it the most expensive road legal production car ever sold in history.
But is there a reason for that? On the outside the F1 looks like a car that has nothing more than the rivals of the same era, but on the inside, there are many different factors contributing to making this car so unique and legendary.
This is the story of a legend, the icon of the 90s, the Mclaren F1!
Hope you'll enjoy the video! ;)

This is the one car that will stay as an unreachable dream for me.
First time seeing it on NFS 2 in my childhood and for me, it's one of the most beautiful car to see.
I may not ever able to attain such a legendary car. But that's fine. Because sometimes, the most beautiful thing in the world is something that can't be obtained.

You make a very good point - many people don't care why the price of this car is so high in the Gran Turismo 7 - They are not familiar with the history of the cars - Your videos help a lot to increase information about cars
(using the Gran turismo music is the favorite part of this video for me)

Thank you! Yes i agree that the story behind of this car is not considered most of the time!
The problem with GT7 is that some players may enjoy this realism with prices, while others may not :/

    Pros:
The video is really detailed. Hands down on that 🙂🥰.
    Cons:
You forgot the say the lines at the end of video: "If you liked this video, share, subscribe to the channel and click the notification bell, bla5x. Thanks for Watching." I've around RUclips for the past few years now, since 2007 so I seen Everything. This is the common mistake that RUclipsrs like you didn't simply care about it and it makes me sad everytime they ignore this line. So this is my only complaint so far. I hope you will do it better next time.

The most expensive stamp ever - sold for $9.5 million dollars. So, basically, someone bought a very small piece of paper for $9.5 million dollars. Your argument could be applied to anything that is collectable, rare and has provenance. For me, personally, the Mclaren F1 is automotive art with racing pedigree (in GTR form) and is the pinnacle of car design. If i was absolutely stinking rich, i wouldn't hesitate in sourcing and buying one. Personally, i can't understand why anyone would spend many millions of dollars on some of the rarest sneakers/shoes - but people obviously collect them, for some reason!

    • @anthonylove6639
      @anthonylove6639 Год назад

I’m talking intrinsic value. Not things that are valued based on a delusional market. No piece of gold I should say, no piece of paper should have any value whatsoever over precious metals. Fiat currency is based on a certain value of many factors, but has no relation in value to gold since 1933. That is why back in the late 1800s a $50 piece of gold is worth now over $2000 an ounce because money really has no value. It’s basically the “word” of the government saying it’s good you have our word it’s good. A $50 piece of gold is still worth $50 regardless, not $2000 an ounce. Intrinsic value is not based on ideology, which is where everything sits right now. It’s the truth, people and their inflated ideas with what something should cost because they “believe” it’s worth more then it actually is, based on whatever idea they conceived to influence its value. Again, like I mentioned earlier it’s basically ideological. But someone may argue my point but I can counter it. It will always return to the same conclusion. That is only logical. it’s just a thought an idea concept. Idea vs intrinsics, fantasy vs reality.

@@anthonylove6639 If you were discussing the evils of materialism and consumerism, i could understand that; especially in respect of global warming and dwindling natural resources. Your discussion of "intrinsic value" is simplistic and naive. Your "Intrinsic value" does not take account of intangible "things" such as enjoyment and pleasure, those most human of characteristics. Other than basic food and the most basic clothing and a few other "things", probably the value of most "things" exceed the value of their component parts and consequently many have little or no "intrinsic value". Why own any painting when you can own a cheap print of said painting, thereby still look at the same image and save loads of money? Why stay in a luxurious, expensive hotel - a cheap one still gives you a bed for the night. Why eat at a "nice" restaurant? Putting supercars to one side, why own any "premium" car brand? A lot of "premium" car brands (e.g. BMW) don't even appear high in lists of reliability polls, so why not just get (for example) a Dacia car, which appear reliable and offer better value. In fact, why own any car? Your argument could go on for ever and ever and affect everything you do and potentially own and by the end of it, you will have sucked dry every bit of enjoyment in life.
