Very sad the many drivers to have been killed in race cars, and my prayers to those who have, but as for the Toyota 7 itself, I have to say, what an incredible beast it was. Awesome.
Thank you so much! :) If you are into racing games, you can drive this beast on Gran Turismo 4, 5 and 6 (of course just virtually, but at least you can have some fun with it). I don't know for other titles, but that's it for GT!
The scariest part about cars like this would probably be the onslaught of snap-oversteer due to inherently imbalanced inertial frontal lift while going through high speed corners. Imagine feeling like a proper weapon of a driver on the straights only to brake hard for a turn, turn in, ease into the throttle to power out and then to have the front lift slightly while the rear pushes down, and then to lose steering feel from the front, lift slightly, redirect the front wheels, feel the inertial weight shift, then power down hard again in time coupled with steering correction so as to offset the snap whilst you feel immense rear tire scrub. You’d have to have balls of steel! Cars of this era had immense rear downforce but little was known about frontal downforce or lift, so an effort was made to widen the rear tires substantially to make up for it, but often times all this did was increase the quickness in which the front changed direction during imbalanced snap!
Thank you for the support! :) I also agree, would have been fascinating to see that car on the track. A part from occasional track days in Japan, i don't think there are many different opportunities to see that beast in action :(

Overall good job good story.
The beginning of the turbo era was quite interesting. It was a major game changer. What probably killed the Toyota racer was the turbo lag. Back then, engineers and drivers had no idea how to handle that. it took numerous years to figure out how to tame the turbo. Porsche also had major growing pains with their turbo. The 930 was called the widowmaker and rightly so. These days after millions of dollars of development and thousands and thousands of hours of testing and refinement it's not uncommon for passanger cars to have a twin turbo.

I've been searching for video on the Toyota & for YEARS!!!! You have no idea how I cried watching this video. Thank you so much for creating this. You gained a like and sub from me!!!💖
300 hp in a 620-800 kg. Vs the 917 820 kg and 715 hp?! Come on. It was a mess of engineering.
Isn't "Project Dream" is the full name of the project-d from initial d? Nice.
How do you only have 8.5k subs this is on of the best automotive doc channels I've found!
Thank you so much! :)
No thankyou man, you've solved my boredom! Hope this takes off!
Very good work! Keep it coming! Maybe Chaparral or Chevron will be good candidats for next videos :)
Definitely! A video about these two icons might be gold! Thank you for the suggestion!
I watched the various Chapparals, including the vacuum cleaner car, at many Can Am races through the prime of that series - always great cars beautifully engineered. The sound of the vacuum cleaner car was unreal - you got the thunderous V8 with the little snowmobile engine screaming away on top of all that. Truly a unique car.
Excellent video. I'm liking the heavy Namco inspiration you have going as well.
Thank you! YES, that was my real first inspiration when starting the channel. I love Namco and the late 90s PS1 games they produced
The video Started with Ace Combat 7 OST that is a Namco franchise
@@PROJECTDREAMMULTIMEDIA I loved the use of Ace Combat 4 soundtrack near the end
It’s Jak X music isn’t it??
Love your work my friend. There’s only two things that keep me sane in these dark times and that’s my kids and motorsports. Keep up the good work
Fantastic work my friend.
Wow, thank you so much!
The legend in person! I don't know how to react to this comment as I've always followed your channel and I've been in love with your videos/narration style! Definitely you are one of the content creators i respect the most, so thank you for your support! :)
Looking forward for your next contents! ;)
@@PROJECTDREAMMULTIMEDIA I'm honored to hear that! I still feel like a very very small fish in this sea, and love seeing what others are doing in the space. Your use of graphics, your vocal tone and your music energy are all top tier friend, I'm as excited about seeing where you go, as you are me.
PS. Enthusia was my JAM back in the day.
We both have a long way to go to develop our projects for sure! But i'm sure that doing what we love, this path will be an amazing adventure!
ALSO WOW, Very few people out there knows Enthusia, you are a person of culture for knowing it ;)
It's also been a pleasure to talk with you, have a nice day and good luck for your next videos!
Absolutely fantastic video. I love the Ridge Racer themed graphics, paired with the historical footage and great music. I subbed! Can’t wait to see your other content!!!!
Thank you so much for your support, for real! Ridge Racer and generally Namco games of that period are one of my biggest inspiration!
I really hope you will enjoy the upcoming videos, next one incoming on October 13 ;)
I will die a happy man if I take my final bow doing what I love.
I love speed, only then do I feel truly free.
Very sad the many drivers to have been killed in race cars, and my prayers to those who have, but as for the Toyota 7 itself, I have to say, what an incredible beast it was. Awesome.
Never even heard of this car before this, great vid
Thank you so much! :)
If you are into racing games, you can drive this beast on Gran Turismo 4, 5 and 6 (of course just virtually, but at least you can have some fun with it).
Cars of this era had immense rear downforce but little was known about frontal downforce or lift, so an effort was made to widen the rear tires substantially to make up for it, but often times all this did was increase the quickness in which the front changed direction during imbalanced snap!
... Great vid !.
Thank you! :)
@@PROJECTDREAMMULTIMEDIA Toy Fan though, Granted, so a tad bias :)
I VERY MUCH appreciate that Jak X music thrown in there. I'm leaving a like for that.
omg the ace combat music matches so well. gotta sub
I highly respect the relentless Japanese pursue for Excellence.
Awesome videos! I hope you do one on the Mazda 787B. Cheers.
Why not! The living rotary legend from Japan surely needs a video! Thank you for the suggestion ;)
Many years ago I read a brief article about Toyota's Can-Am car project which killed the test driver.
Excellent job on this vid! A fascinating story, I've never heard of the Toyota 7...I would have liked to see one now.
Thank you for the support! :)
I also agree, would have been fascinating to see that car on the track. A part from occasional track days in Japan, i don't think there are many different opportunities to see that beast in action :(
Fantastic work, congratulations...
I was enjoying this video like I was expecting of a 500K+ subscriber channel. Until I saw the actual subscriber count. You are doing so well man. Your channel and style of videos will surely grow you a lot innige future! Best of luck my friend!
Amazing video, very well made, trully engaging, cant wait for more!!
1970: Toyota spends millions on bleeding edge R&D developing a 1000hp engine
2022: Every other guy with a 90s-00s RWD car LS swapping 1200hp grocery getters
1:32 song?
Absolutely fantastic video and production quality! Love it! And love the little nods to Ace Combat!
800-1000hp is mighty impressive today, 1969(nice) it was insanity.
Great video, thanks for the upload!
Too fast.... too extreme... thats weakness right there
I am happy that the algorithm threw me right here. Your style is impeccable and unique. Great work, keep it up. Your storytelling is sublime bro. Subbed.
Very cool video! Thank you! New subscription earned!
Great vid, don't forget, Toyota has 3 Nascar Cup series championship wins in America, and 15 championships in the Xfinity (B league) and Truck (C league) .
Gran Turismo veterans know what it's like to drive this thing
Great video as always ✨
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO
What game footage is used?
Great content 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you :)
Thank you so much for sharing this documentary about this legendary 70's Japanese beast developed by Toyota. This is absolutely new for me. Keep up with the amazing work🔥👌❤️🎌🏁🇯🇵
Спасибо, что рассказали об этом уникальном автомобиле.
I have heard of this car before somewhere throughout all of my years of reading and learning about Motorsports and different cars and engines but I never knew the history behind it like this ,well put together story even though it was a tragic event I didn't understand much about the car either a car weighing less than 1500 lb with that kind of horsepower would have had to be a monster and only great drivers could drive it sadly one lost his life.
Thank you.
Love the content.
Great editing.
Superb narration.
This channel is gonna be the next bomb! Great to catch it from the beginning! Amazing work mates, amazing work! Love the style of the narration and the music! Keep up guys with this amazing work!
I just found this channel, the Ridge Racer Type 4 graphics and narration quality are INCREDIBLE
I always find videos like this miss the mark so hard, both guys died doing something they loved which is better then most of you will ever know. It’s not like you don’t get in the car not knowing the risk is death but the pursuit of greatness shown through passion is truly something to admire.
The respect for safety back then was almost nonexistent.
At just 620kg (1367lbs) and pushing anywhere from 800 to 1000hp I'm like Bugatti what? McLaren who? Ferrari what? Porsche who? That was extremely radical considering it was only in the 1970s Jeeezuuuus 😬😬😬😬
Always loved your Videos since I discovered the x1 video
Hehe thank you, hope you'll love also what comes next ;)
1:25 shit a ridge racer type 4 reference?
This channel needs more subs
HEHE THANK YOU!
Yes that's totally a Ridge Racer reference. In the Gilles Panizzi video of this August (i think was August) i made it even MORE EVIDENT.
We all love Ridge Racer Type 4
Wow, I'm amazed at the story telling and production of this video. i know i sound like a bot but this is crazy. I'm definitely keeping notifications on
Thanks for this. I helped build the Toyota GTP cars for Dan Gurney's All American Racers. I was there 10 years. Great experience!
love the ace combat music ♥
Man all these story based motorsport channels popping up. I LOVE IT. Project dream, hunters moon, countreefus OOOF
HEHE, i don't know Hunters Moon channel, going to watch some videos later. I know Countreefus instead, not personally, but he's a really good storyteller and deserves the boom he is having right now.
I really hope he will keep improving every time and never stop making videos! SHOUT OUT TO HIMKJSJDKSA
@@PROJECTDREAMMULTIMEDIA gotta check out hunter. He's amazing.
I recall in the mid sixties an occasion when there was a fatal accident in Australia in a Toyota vehicle. There was absorbs of explanation for what happened and the manager of Toyota Japan came here to attend the funeral and appologise to the family of the deceased I listened to the news broadcast and was impressed that this high business executive would bother to state the values of this company to be so. Quite a difference to this story of wanting to be top of everyone in the F1 race where anything goes if it's legal.
The quality of this video is quite simply perfect
Thank you! :)
That was an amazing video. Keep up the good work :)
You just gained a new subscriber, your content is unbelievably good
Great job on this video
Woah, I got recommended this video 3 hours ago and I can't believe how underrated you are.
Seriously, I have been binging those videos for hours now.
Good luck and keep producing this wonderful content, your new subscriber.
your channel’s aesthetic immediately reminded me of ridge racer 4 lol. you earned a sub, this channel will be very big soon. please cover the 787b!
that was beautiful subscribed
Thank you! :)
I really enjoy your content, man!
Keep up the good work.
Also, the nostalgia i get when seeing the Ace Combat 3 outro is enormous :D
I'll never forget when I unlocked that car on Gran Turismo. It was sooo Damn fast lol.
DUDEEE. LOVE THE RIDGE RACER TYPE 4 AESTHETIC. THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS.
THANK YOU INSTEAD FOR YOUR SUPPORT
I've just found this channel and I love it.
Very well done!
This was a beast in the old gran turismo games. But it had no headlights so good luck in any night races
I remember as a kid i went for the 24h of Le Mans in GT5 with it, and after a few hours in the lead, when the sun came down i realized...OH NO
Incredible & Sad / Thanks for sharing
Nice I love to hear some Ace Combat music in videos haha :D
Hehe, never stopping the Ace Combat reference ;)
thank for this.. is great !
I won't say the Toyota wasn't fast but it's awfully bold to call it the "fastest car of the 70's" when there were cars like the UOP Shadow, Porsche 917/30, Lola T260, and McLaren M8.
This hands down is my favourite Toyota ever made. I would love to see it in person one day. I know the 7 turbo still exists, but I cannot find any footage of it being driven. Does such footage exist anywhere?
I was never aware. Done well!
Thank you! :)
