Is it just me or is this one of the best songs in the world?
How can someone's voice be any better than this?
It's absolutely perfect.
For me it is the best song in the world i was 10 years in 1974 it was a wonderful time things was ok and some music was so beautiful as the number here.
For sure.
What a song. You can listen to it a million times and it's still exciting..
Like a forest fight for sunlight, that takes root in every tree
Fantastic lyrics
Phil giving Peter a good hand there. Their voices sound wonderful together.
Perfect!
Luigi Raimondo Pomo Truth be told, Tony Banks was the genius musician in that band.
Amazing!
this music never dies
I saw this show at the Philadelphia Civic Center just a few days before this recording. One of the most memorable concerts I ever attended (and I attended a lot) Ironically the civic center was torn down in the past few years and a new building owned by my current employer (Penn Medicine) was erected. I am frequently in meetings in rooms that I estimate are situated in the general vicinity of my seat for the Lamb show.
I don’t why but this is one of the saddest posts I’ve ever read.
Nothing is better than Gabriel, Banks, Rutherford and Collins. Nothing.
genesis0932 Yes, indeed. Gabriel, Banks, Rutherford, Collins and Hackett is better. ;)
Plautus16 you are right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
genesis0932 gabriel is very, very, mas que muy better.
+genesis0932
you forgot Hackett - they were the peak Genesis imho - just went to a concert with Hackett - incredible - after 40 years he is able to revive this stuff on stage like there was no yesterday - close yor eyes and its as if you hear Genesis live
of course I forgot!! Sorry!!
Brilliant version. My husband introduced me to Genesis in the late 70's. He died earlier this year I now have his entire collection..vinyl and cd and video. His personal highlight was meeting Mike Rutherford twice..both times dumbstruck and speechless.
My condolences for your husband, sweetheart... I hope he is at peace.
thats awesome!!!..I met tony levin..same thing..he fist bumped me..im standing there going,,,huh?...awesome...totally understand!
Thank you Debbie! We are here for you.
Phil and peter harmonizing on this song , love it love it love it , fantastic, best version I've heard.
I was never a fan of Genesis until I heard this song. Pure magic.
I sang this song so many times I knew it by heart when I was young. Oh I still love this song!
I just phil 's backing vocals on this , what do you think ?
Greta S Bo Saw Lamb lies down.live at Wembley.....AMAZING! So glad i lived to see this, plus many concerts prior to this masterpiece.
Peter gabriel genesis
I was at this concert! I can say without reservation, this was the best concert I've ever been to...
peter gabriel is amazing a genius in self sense of its meaning the first musician to win a oscar for one of his videos !!!
Marcello.
My favorite song all time i listen to it every day before work to start my day off right .when i have the time i listen to it evolve from 1974 to 1980
One of my favorite Genesis songs...probably my favorite from the Gabriel years.
The thing many people seem to despise Genesis for is actually the reason I love them so much: Diversity. From prog rock in the 70s to pop and stadium rock in the 80s...about the only other band that could hold a candle to Genesis in the diversity department was probably Queen, and they took the same flack from their elitist, so called hardcore fans.
Fuck everything, if it wasn't for Phil Collins spreading the gospel after Peter Gabriel left, I would have probably never discovered albums like Lamb. And genesis churned out some amazing music with Phil at the helm, no one in their right mind can deny that.
degree7 Yet, some love it all, without the need for comparison
One of my favourite songs, period.
When they both sing you got to get in to get out, they were so in tune. Just beautiful
this album remember me when i was 18 yo, i have got it as gift from my girl friend, for my birthday. That girl is today my wife, i'm now 52 yo and just became grand father, but the feeling of this song is always the same, fantastic.
A sublime song, played beautifully ... with which the mind is in seventh heaven ..
We have got to get in to get out ..
this is so beautifull, I always get tears in my eyes when I hear it ...
Saw Genesis do "The Lamb Lies Down.." concert live. Awesome, but it was totally new material to me. A double album only just released, & it took up most of the concert. They played a few of the old "greats". I was a little disappointed that I did not hear "Musical Box." The "Lamb Lies Down.." is a masterpiece imo, but it needs a little time to get into. Its deep in a good way. The best live band I have ever seen by a mile.
One of the most beautiful and poignant songs ever. Just incredible.
I love that you're also a fellow Bowie fan!!!!!
Same time and place for me in the mid to late 70s. Loving Bowie more than ever.
The best and most beautiful song ever wrote
He wrote the lyrics to everything of his era and almost all melodies for his vocs - quite significant I'd say. In those and his performance style- brilliant
Soo love this song,,,no matter who sings it but Genesis is best done cuz Collins got the magical voice,,coming from a die hard 30 yr fan,,its so beautiful.....havnt heard it in yrs today I cryd listen full blasst over n over MEMORIES!!! ( JULIE FROM CALI)
absolute masterpiece
Beautiful song and performance.
Immortal music...
Mystical song, I love it
It's interesting to me that we go back when listening to these classics. When at the time they were new and innovative. Now young people are rediscovering what we have already known, and find it new and just as innovative. It kind of makes me feel that there was so much time wasted in between! The bands at that time had to change, to keep up, only to find it was best where they started.
Simply Beautiful.Majestic.
Was ist Liebe ?
I love this song too much (and Genesis too)... Nowadays music like this doesn't exist, and that's a pity, becouse this is real music :(
li ho nel cuore da una vita
The album genesis live is one of the best live albums ever, it pre dates this but shows that intricate complex music can still come across forcefully in the hands of masters of their craft
Absolutely BRILLIANT !!!
El himno musical 🎵 de todas las épocas!!!
Great Song! Really like the version with Peter Gabriel - sounds much more deeper with him.
he's the original writer so of course it sounds the best when he sings lead....
Thank you Mr. Gabriel ...For daring to be different...
He is not different, he is himself.
Viktor Matys So he's the same???
Clot God He's the same as all other Peter Gabriels who served as the original lead singer for Genesis. Collectively, they are themselves.
:-) "...for darnig to be authentic"
The best album from Genesis for me, I hear it since I was 13 till today, and still touches me!It is really a shame that they don't keep writing songs together even today.
We gotta get in to get out. We gotta get in to get out. You can say that again. Magnifique!
With this group, the whole is greater then the sum of its parts. Genesis had a unique synergy which each of their independent (and, for the most part profitable and successful {sorry Tony}) solo careers lacked, and it made them into one of the truly GREAT rock groups in the history of Rock and Roll. While these two did form the spine of the group for MANY years, I encourage everyone to listen to each of the instruments playing in each of their songs to get a better feel for what they were.
Best thing that happen to Genesis was when Peter left the band. Phil Collins stepped up to the mic and a new Genesis was discovered. Peter, being the music genius also went on to become a huge solo artist. Genesis and Peter then and now are still my most admired and listened music.Brilliant music talented individuals of the great 70's. You just don't get groups with that much raw talent today!
The real Genesis awesome . saw Hackett last night awesome.
Stratosferici !!!!!!
I have a sense of "time-frame" when listening to it, although I was nine years old in 1974. I only re-discovered the joy of the Lamb album in the late '80's. I'm a guitarist and bassist and had musician neighbors in the early '90's who had beer bashes at their house. We always wound up playing this song in the wee hours over many refrains of "got to get in....".
stupenda carpet crowlers
Erinnerungen ... als wär s erst gestern gwesen ... :-)
@Big77Jim Yes I think this is one of the greatest songs ever written. I know what you mean about the chills. I get them every single time. I don't see how someone can listen to this and not be blown away. And this version...ahhh peter's voice on this version is killing me.
Oh yes! I love early Genesis with Gabriel.
The last 3 years I went to the gigs from Ray Wilson. He offer us a different setlist and also a change line-up. But he plays ever this oldest song in his set. Carpet Crawlers is a must have.
The Old Genesis is the most important band for the development of progrock in his melodic Version!
+ofenblase true
+ofenblase THERE IS NOTHING LIKE THIS IN TODAYS MUSIC I remember getting this album when it came out NOTHING LIKE OPENNING A ALBUM READING THE STORY AWESOME JUST AWESOME:)
School is in session! The more you research Genesis earliest work & the entangled twisted stories and how they correlate with each other the more you are just mind blown. Tony Banks, a mastermind song writer who most don't even know he wrote the lyrics for most of their songs. And Gabriel brought them to life. With Phil on the drums to leave chills down your spine!
Peter and Phil vocals just magical.
Yes, the best one with Peter - Merci à vous, fermez les yeux et écoutez, ne faîtes rien d'autre, laissez vous planer
Marci bocu
It's the bottom of a staircase that spirals out of sight, brilliant!!!
Phil's vocal contribution to this is priceless. It provided a respite for Pete, but Peter hung in there and sang the song all the way through. This recording is a magnificent version. Thanks for posting, whoever you are....
Uma das melhores musicas.......supra sumo!!!!!!!
I saw this concert, lambs lay down on Broadway, it was brilliant ! The original !!
fav album and this song is magic
Tony Banks on fire...beautiful...what an into...sick just so sick...
first FAVE way back as a young teen in L.A. heard my bro 2 yrs older playing GENISIS YAY
Classic Genesis please come back to us!
my fav genesis song since 1980
v.g.
Achim
Gran tema, gran grupo
Bela música. Uma das minhas preferidas.
Always has been my favorite Genesis tune..Such a masterpiece
Me too, It's a beautiful song.
Cheers
All you carpet crawlers give a hell yeah
peter gabriel = genesis !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of my favorites..
Peter,Phil,Tony,Mike and Steve-the best of all the lineups.
Superb song!
Beatiful !
Phil and Steve are this song!
Ray Wilson pulled off the greatest version of the song. He was simply the best singer for Genesis.
I think so too. Ray's singing on Steve Hackett's live version, from 'Genesis Revisited: Live at the Royal Albert Hall', crushes all other versions.
One of my all time favorites
the age of aquarius!! the creative time that i miss!!!
That's my history of one of the best groups, individuals ever been on stage......
From the time when Genesis were Genesis. Love it...
What a bunch of nerdy looking guys.
You mean like the bodyshaped-retro-haircut-mainstream-tattooed-cargo-bermuda wearing-politically-correct- lifestyle-hipster clowns today ?
Well, you obviously didn't grow up in the seventies ;)
What an asshole, Genesis is more than Gabriel or Hackett, Genesis basically is PC, Mike and Tony
O Genesis é universal, legado para a humanidade...
Música boa fica prá sempre... Muito linda...
Pure Magic!
Beautiful....
yes, absolutly.. because of this song was beginning my life, my love, first kiss, first sex and this till today. I´m 60 years old
Best song ever. period!!
