One thing I’ve discovered about ProMist filters and other ones like them is two schools of thought: The longer your focal length, the stronger the filtration becomes. That’s the original reason for the difference strengths. So if you’re using a 24mm with a 1/4 strength, it’s’ gonna be stronger on an 85mm. So if you were trying to “match” them on multiple cameras it might be ideal to use 1/4 on the 24mm and 1/8 on the 85mm to get them to match better. But it’s kinda contradictory because you’d think tighter shots need more diffusion because our eyes want more clarity for wider shots. Ultimately it’s a creative choice either way.
I’ll just leave this here because you didn’t mention it, and I think it’s quite important….. What I have discovered about B pro-mist and all filters is that it all depends on the size of the stop. So if you’re shooting at F1.2 you can only need 1/8 but if you’re shooting at F3.5 you’re gonna need maybe something stronger like a 1/4 filter. !! But , said above it’s a creative choice either way Good luck for your new project sounds for exciting. Keep the videos coming they’re really strong. T
Danny, never stop how you just start videos like we are old friends sitting down to coffee together. Your gentle smiled “hey” is my favorite into on RUclips.
Youre always talking about exactly what I think while watching your videos! Yes I was here because I hoped you talk about promist Filters :)) Im so happy to see you grow with your channel…saw you cooperate with matti in Norway and hope that you even grow more now because you make awesome content! As a early time watcher of you channel I wish you all the best and keep on doing great stuff 💜
Black pro mist is one of my fav filters. Pretty much lives on my lens. I love the bloom it gives lights/highlights.. I remember one of your other videos talking about it and I was hooked ever since. Also, using the FX6.. it’s very sharp and the digital look isn’t my fav, so having a filter to soften up, to me is a cheap easy fix. Office is looking good too man!
First of all congratulations on 200K!🍾 And, speaking of the feature film, I cannot wait for what you're planning to bring next month. I really wanna be a part of it no matter how small.🤩🙌
You read our minds on the stacking filters - I’ve got the same VND - so I Will be buying that Tiffen Black Pro Mist 1/8. Love the way your videos look. And honestly, I’m here in FL and it’s all I can do to mute the Sun as it were. People (who live up north) don’t realize how different the light quality and strength changes as you get closer to the Equator. Shooting on the Ocean or beach is sooooo difficult. Thank you for all you are doing and sharing with us!
Actually I like to shoot in standard profile and then turn up the sharpness to 11 in post. I figured even noise should look sharp 😏 On a serious note, though - best of luck and much of fun with turning your feature into reality!
Great news about the filters. Even better news about the feature. Please let us know how to support you and your dream! Such an inspiration! Keep it going!
Dude! I just had a really rough day and you made it all better man. Applied to filmschool yesterday because of you! This time next month I'll know if I get accepted for cinematography. It's all because of you dude! Love you.
Oh wow, I am excited for your Feature Film. I am looking forward to supporting it. Your channel is something else in terms of vibe and tone and in a class of its own.
It's incredible that you managed to progress so quickly on your feature film. I'm one year into developing my screenplay which is still not even close to being written. Wishing you good luck.
Just found your channel through Matti recent Vlog… I’m a full time Banker, just picked up my an A7S3 to learn the basics of videography. I’d like to learn as much as possible at an old age & see where this new hobby will take me. Going to start with just filming family outings & practice slow mo & color grading skills. I bought an M1Pro & FCP to work/learn with 🙏🏽
Dude watching your videos feel like catching up with that laid back jokester friend from high school that we lost touch with lmaoo! on a serious note, as a newbie into cinematography I really appreciate these more laid back but informative videos!
Good to see you again, man - been a while! Congrats on 200K! 😮 I love the term, "halation," by the way. I just think it's cool how it harkens back to the salt-based history of photography way back when. And yeah, I just used "harkens" in a sentence. Excited to see your feature, man - keep crushing it! 👊🏻❤️
Also fully agree about 1/8 over 1/4. I tried the 1/4 but it was too much for my personal taste as well, tried the 1/8 and it was perfect - it straddles the line of "can't tell it's there" and "can barely tell it's there" which is exactly what I was looking for!
@@DannyGevirtz I just want to say you’ve inspired me greatly as I made my first youtube video and you were a big part of that. seeing you pour your heart and soul into filmmaking has encouraged me to do the same. Thank you for everything you do!

Thank you for the lovely content. You said you use the Tiffen 1/8 + a ND and you don't have vignetting issues. Do you (or anyone else reading this) have any experience with using a Step Up Ring additionally? So Step Up ring + Mist Filter + ND Filter? Im wondering if i might get into trouble with that and maybe should instead go for the Polar Pro II Mist edition to save a layer. But it would be nice to have the Mist filter separately so i can use it indoors.
