I was literally about to come down here and post a comment about this exact thing and how it spoke to me. I haven't made a video in over a year because I've overthought my entire life to death and basically paralyzed myself. Been slowly trying to get back out of my head and back into my life for so long now. Danny if you see this, thank you. I watched the little film when you posted it and it really inspired me. The simple things in life are kind of the most beautiful to me

Man Danny I took a gap year from film school and the first 6 months were great but I think i juiced myself out creatively. December - March was just a very dry and stale period with nothing really coming to me. Watching this video last week sparked all the creative wires in my brain and I've been going out everyday to shoot. You're really out here changing lives on the daily brother. Can't wait to see the trailer! Love you

And I haven't done any "filmmaking" since I got this job last August. Seeing this video, as mundane as it is lol, sparked me up a bit.
I want to make a simple small video like this, but I have no time and if I do have time, I'm burnt out and just want to rest. haha.

Hey! New here, really enjoyed this breakdown. I'd love to see more and just subscribed for that same reason. You're a pretty good teacher! Also, little cinematography tips like the one you shared about how a lot of it is "using shadow side, putting the subject between main source of light and the camera" are amazing. As someone who has been an editor all my life, I do have a lot of curiosity and am experimenting with cinematography lately just for fun, those little gems of knowledge are super nutritious. If you ever read this, maybe the next question would give you an idea for content: What has been something you learnt in your career that has changed the game for you? (one of those "huh!" moments that change the way you perceive the work)

Hey Danny, two questions... one on 'stylistic' look and one regarding audio...
If people are wanting to get the 'film look' for their work, like 80/90's movies... wouldn't we be better off shooting in 1080p or possibly 720p with a vintage lens and mist filter for that non clinical, soft look? 4k surely makes it harder to imitate the softer 80's/90's vibe due to the high resolution? I just watched 'Rocky' from a stylistic view, it wouldn't have the same feel if it were shot in 4k, super hi res and clean looking etc...
Sound... say you want to capture quality sound in the general environment, would a good shotgun mic do? Say an indoor scene of someone screaming and smashing things up but theres a few metres distance between actor and camera. Or you want to pick up the sounds of outdoor traffic in a scene as it passes etc.
Just trying to be efficient/creative in my thinking. Love your work
