The Double cheeseburger was added in 1965 the Big mac 1967 McNuggets 1979 McChicken 1980 the McRib 1980.

Was originally tested first here in Ontario, Canada. The older locations still have the ovens, used now for pies, but when I worked there from 2005-2011, "Pizza" was still programmed into them. Made some booooomb quesadillas.
I remember McPizza back in 1997, in my little corner of Ontario. Fourteen minutes for the family size and some of the best, sweetest sauce I had ever tasted, and hold others against in comparison to this day. That or the personal size, either was so savory - a flavor experience unto itself.

They sat back and collected a franchising fee while running their San Bernardino restaurant. Ray and the brothers pitched ideas to one another, and Ray was the one who had to write up contracts for every change since the brothers were absent minded. They never even trademarked their restaurant, which means Kroc could have technically stolen it if he wanted to, which he didn't.
I think it mostly had to issue with quality of said food, the issue with having so much menu items is that some stuff take priority over others, in some places the food quality is lessen over time. Like take a pizza place that sells barbecue chicken, what take priority more the chicken or the pizza what take more time to prep and what should you focus on the most cause your trying to get food to the customer. It because of this he was upset they added more crap that the quality of the burger lesson, plus it also start to attract a crowed he did not want, an well you saw how the state of this mcdonald look just from the outside.
