The way "a girl worth fighting for" ends because they find a girl worth fighting for. The little girl who died and her doll left behind is the girl they find worth fighting for.
Emotional whiplash.
BRUH 😳
Never woulda thought of that myself
I've watched this film a thousand times and never thought of it like that, holy shit
It's also the last musical number in the film, after that there's a shift in tone.
Emperor sees Shang and Mulan and is all like: "I ship it."
LITERALLY “you don’t find a girl like that every dynasty”
then he put his hat on deliberately to hammer his point to Shang
@@Triggapulla561 that line was gangsta lol
@@reginaldfrempong6644 then you remember he is voiced by pat morita who was mister miyagi from the karate kid.
The Emperor is by far one of my favourite characters
The best part about Shan-Yu as a character comes at the moment Mulan reveals she was the one that took out his army. He doesn't doubt what she says, he doesn't scoff at the idea of a woman being the one to take him out; he refers to her as "the soldier from the mountain". Mongolian women weren't as looked down on as Chinese women at the time, and many even held positions in military and politics. To Shan-Yu, Mulan was just another soldier, and he treated her as such.
Oh my! That's amazing I can't believe that I watched this movie at least seventy times and still didn't notice that!
I'm pretty sure I have a tumblr thread saved on my phone centered around that scene.
I love that when in the live action he was infuriated by her being a woman
Wow.amazing analysis
There was more gender equality in Mongolia
It kind bothers me when people say Mulan wants to fight in the war - she doesn't want to be a warrior, she wants to save her father so she willingly goes in his place.
Facts! This is a huge part of what makes her character so great! And the live action movie made it seem like she wanted to be a warrior from the very beginning. Took away from a lot from the movie honestly...
Super Girl
I agree! Mulan was never selfish, which is why I really love her character. Mulan was raised to always bring her family honor, and this helped forge her resolve while she was within the army. Her father said "I will die doing what's right!" Mulan took that to heart.
And like she says to Mushu she wanted indirectly prove she's worth something
Yes and no.
Her "official" motivation is to save her father, and of course that's a huge part of it, but she also wants to prove herself and bring honor to her family in some way since she wasn't able to do it in the way society expected her to.
The ironic and beautiful thing of it all is that in the end, when she brings honor to her family in the most literal way (Shan Yu's sword and the Emperor's crest)... her father immediately tosses it all away to hug her, proving that "honor" is meaningless and all he ever wanted is for his daughter to be okay.
You’re not entirely right, as Miru above me said. Mulan can’t fit into what society and her family expects of her - to be an obedient wife and give birth to baby boys, that’s what reflection is all about. She wants to feel she has a worth, that she is her own person with dreams and needs. So when her father must go serve his country she decides to take his place. On the surface it seems that the only reason she is doing this is to save her old man, but that’s not true at all. In the scene after she was exposed as a woman, in the snow she says “Maybe I didn’t go for my father. Maybe what I really wanted was to prove I could do things right. So when I looked in the mirror I’d see someone worthwhile. But I was wrong. I see nothing.”
So maybe it wasn’t her dream to specifically be a warrior, but through being a warrior she tried to prove herself she is worthwhile, that she is more than what society makes her to be.
“Oh wait are we gonna see her train?!”
Only in THE BEST TRAINING MONTAGE EVER CREATED! 😂

Haha definitely my favorite training montage I have ever seen!
Ha ha my thought when he said that, "oh, he is gonna be SO happy in about 2 minutes!"
And the best song ever.
"LET'S GET DOWN TO BUSINESS! TO DEFEAT... THE HUNS!!!"
@@nessaarandur7740 "Did they send me daughters when I asked for sons?"
32:48 - I don't think the father changed during the movie. He always loved and cared for Mulan. He just knew that without a good reputation, Mulan will have trouble building a good life for herself (he obviously didn't anticipate that Mulan will create a good life for herself by going to war).
Yeah feel like I misspoke there, thanks for explaining!
Yes, when he compare the flower to Mulan it's like he said to her to takes her time
That makes sense, especially when he said "I know my place! It's time you find yours."
The songs in Mulan have a different purpose than in most Disney films. There are only 4 and they all belong to the "juvenile" part of the movie where Mulan is growing and learning new skills. Notice that "Girl Worth Fighting For" cuts off right at the point where the characters and we, the audience, stop messing around and take things seriously. No more time for singing, the real adult life begins. P. S. Whenever someone says "let's get down to business", I can't help but quietly add "to defeat the Huns!"
i never pieced that together about the music 🤯
*Huh!*
Did they sent me daughters when I asked for sons ?
Never noticed that, thanks so much for pointing that out!
Not only that, but they also see the girl worth fighting for they looked for! The girl which lost her puppet because she probably died from war, the puppet in the burning buildings. THIS is the girl worth fighting for!
"Did they send me daughters, when I ask for sons"
The fact that Milan didn’t want to be a warrior and instead did it to protect her father makes me respect her soo much. Mulan was my favourite disney princess :)
My favorite Disney Princess is Princess Leia.
How is she a princess..? Is any female Disney protagonist just automatically a princess now? O_o One of the things I always liked about Mulan, was that she was one of the only female Disney protagonists that wasn't a princess...
@@VelkanAngels Mulan may not be royalty, but she is one of the 12 princesses listen on the official Disney Princess list. Disney has specific criteria that makes a female protagonist a princess and title is only one. Mulan made the criteria they set and they had her official Disney World coronation. So, while not of royal blood or title, she IS one of the Disney Princesses. Elsa and Anna of Frozen did NOT make the list and are not officially coronated by Disney World.
@@VelkanAngels Being a princess isn't necessarily a bad thing. If anything, it tells people a princess can be many things! You can be a warrior or a bookworm, luxurious or humble, etc. Disney picks the princesses based on how successful her movie is, I think. Mulan, Jasmine, and Pocahontas were probably made princesses to increase diversity. The brand was officially made in 2001. I love all of them, though I wouldn't have minded if Disney had included Meg and Esmerelda. I'd add Kida, too, but she was made during Disney's post-renaissance, pre-revival era, so that's unlikely. I wish Disney could've made the Disney prince line prominent, too.
@@oougahersharr This is one of the most ridiculous debates I've ever seen.

One of the coolest head canons I've ever heard about this movie is this-
When Mulan makes the decision to pose as a soldier and go to war to save her father, she is sitting on the stone statue of the Great dagon.... that's the reason why Mushu wasn't able to wake the great stone dragon it was because the great stone dragon is now Mulan.
I think there's actually a theory that says just that.
I think that's actually heavily implied by the movie itself. There are even images of dragons throughout that whole scene. I always just accepted that as fact. The dragon is inside her now.
@@neolithiumproduction That's why I said 'head- canon'. I know it's not a clear fact, but simply a fun thought. 😊
Mulan has always been my favorite Disney princess and movie, AND I DIDNT KNOW ANY OF THIS??
I got chills reading this.
Mulan is my FAVORITE Disney movie and I've watched it hundreds of times....
I never pieced that together. Incredible.
Fun fact: Mulan’s singing voice, Lea Salonga, is also Jasmine’s singing voice.
And she kills it
No way!
Isn't she Pocahontas'?
@@demo2823 No, I don’t think so
@@joedesena5402 Ah, I looked it up, Pocahontas' voice actress did the singing voice of Ting Ting in Mulan 2.
"Prince of Egypt" is a good one, too! Great music!
Hopefully he eventually reacts to that one!
Oh yes! There are some REALLY great songs in that one! ❤
The most beautiful animated movie ever made!
Watch Pocahontas or spirit
It is hard to appreciate the Disney version when you know what really happened to Pocahontas. Her story is truly tragic. The 'facts' we learned in school don't tell you about how the English murderered her husband, separated her from her newborn, tortured her in to adopting Christianity and sailing to England, and forced her into marriage when she was found to be pregnant from rape.
Oh and she was never romantically involved with John Smith, she was only about 11 or 12 around the time he would have been in Jamestown.
Believe it or not, when this movie came out, it got mixed reviews. Critics felt it wasn't nearly as good as other 90s Disney movies and some even said the songs weren't memorable. Some even called it an anti feminist movie because of the "be a man" song. But honestly this has got to be one of the greatest Disney movies. And compared to other 90s Disney movies, I think it's aged much better. Particularly for millennials, the idea of feeling lost and looking for acceptance from your family and society, really hits home.
You mean “I’ll Make a Man Out of You.”.
Anti feminist lol.. this is probably one of the more pro feminist Disney films..? Showing a woman is just as capable and valuable as any man, having her be such a well rounded and developed character with genuine motivations like saving her father instead of classic disney "uwahh prince must save me!" complex..
Like I'm surprised anybody could think this isn't a great film
@@mimthyss I feel like one of the things that helped is that she didn't know how to fight or use a sword so she had to learn
People who call it "anti-feminist" are the same people who saif the same thing about the original Cinderella. 😒
@@mimthyss Yessss!! That why I love this movie! Is not a classic disney "uwahh prince must save me!"
Don't see a lot of people talk about it, but Mulan's Decision (The piece that plays as Mulan is putting on the armour) is one of my favourite pieces of music in Disney. It's just so easy for me to lose myself in it
I loved that scene so much!
It's so good! 😊
I was so upset when I bought the soundtrack and it was replaced by a different version. I've never found a true version of it that wasn't just ripped from the movie.
@@DSGodiva - That bothers me so much too in general, when I really love a piece of music and either can't find it at all, can't find it in at least decent quality or can't find it in the version I want. It probably bothers me more than it should, but music is much more than just a bunch of sounds put together to me.
@@nickflix8657 That scene is also why the great stone dragon didn't awake for mushu. She was sitting under the stature during that scene when she made the decision. It was HER becoming the guardian. Mulan was the great dragon guardian of her family.
Every scene from this movie even if it’s a couple of minutes or seconds it’s better than the live action of Mulan
I couldn't get passed the first 10 minutes of the live action one.
that's facts
A true disgrace to my favorite Disney movie
I like both
I completely agree I was actually gonna go see the live action movie when it was suppose to come out on my b -day but thanks to covid-19 it kept me from seeing it and even tho covid ruined my b-day when it started I cant help but thank it cause if I had seen it in theaters I'd have had wasted my money seeing it then but since I saw it on Disney+ I dont like the movie at all the Disney animated version will always be my absolute favorite
One of the best training montages ever and my personal favorite. It shows her struggling, failing, about to give up before she gets back into it and ultimately succeeding and winning over her comrades. And how? Through hard work, perseverance and intelligence. They even show all the men succeeding with her so in the end they all come out fairly equal and not her being some chosen one ultimate soldier.
Shan Yu’s my favorite of all the Disney villains! I mean he commands a huge army, uses a curved edge sword, has an evil looking pet falcon (that is until Mushu burns his feathers off), and don’t even get me started on his badass theme.
those damn warriors from hammerfell struttin' about with they're curved swords
and respects Mulan as a warrior without giving really thought to her gender
@@evansutcliffe1099 curved! Swords!
And that VOICE! Wow…
Not only that, Shan Yu wasn't just extremely strong, he was also smart. As TV Tropes pointed out, his military strategy was brilliant. He and his men breached the Great Wall, and then he sent a messenger back to China with news of his attack, which would force the Emperor to send all his forces against him. And instead of bypassing the Chinese armies, he fought them head-on, in favorable terrain. Instead of those armies potentially coming back to attack if he reached the capital, he could destroy them right then and there and thus his path toward the Emperor would be clear.
The scene where her father tries to make her feel better about failing at the matchmaker’s always makes me tear up, then it’s heartbreaking later on when he tells her it’s time she learned her place, but in the midst of that moment, I have to admire the great courage and fortitude he’s exhibiting in accepting his fate. He knows it’s a death sentence for him.
Mulan didn't want to be a warrior, she just didn't want her father to die because he was injured from the last time he fought.
Thanks for clarifying, I mentioned that I was wrong later on but guess I cut it from the edited reaction. Appreciate you making sure I got it!
@@nickflix8657 It's okay. As for you not believing that Mulan disguising herself as a man, she has the figure for it. Of course her mannerisms are a bit different and her views are not the same compared to the other soldiers. Especially when they sang 'A Girl We're Fighting For'. Men in that time were very discriminatory to women and sexist. They were saying what they want us to be or should be and not speak our mind.
She also wanted to bring her family honor so that she could finally see her real self in the mirror.
@@summerrose8110 Especially in China, where women were very much expected to fit in the same mould. Believe it or not, only one hundred years ago, meet any Chinese woman over twenty and chances are she'd have bound feet. Mulan was before the time of foot binding, thank heavens, but that was another way women had to conform - they had to have their toes broken and have cloth wrapped around them until they were unable to heal so that they looked like they had tiny feet. This practice started becoming less and less common until only a few rural places did it in the 1950s, but it was done for a whole millennium - so many Chinese women were crippled deliberately for a thousand years.
@@summerrose8110 *A Girl Worth Fighting Fot
Mulan's father was never that hard on her being womanly... not even at the beginning. It was only when she embarrassed him that he got mad and said she should know her place. He's the head of the family. He's the one that's allowed her such leeway in her behaviour up to that point.
Actually talking back to the army, or to escape going to the war, could end up in death penalty...
The father of course had his pride, but he was also protecting his daughter...I think, at least
@@bellmsky Yeah its a lot of things.
1. when discovered she would be killed.
2, family would be shamed forever.
3. who knows if there would be punishment for family for this.
When they were singing merrily and happened on that destroyed village, that's considered one of the greatest transitions in cinematic history.
No more joy. No more dreaming. 💩 just got VERY real.
21:17 That face... Yeah. NO-ONE was prepared for the scene of the burning village. One of the best gut-punches Disney ever threw.
I saw someone make the observation the other day that while the men were singing the song A Girl Worth Fighting For they were still behaving like boys because war was not real to them yet. All they were thinking about was going home like war heroes and being selfish. They are abruptly met with the realization of why they are fighting and the real "girl worth fighting for" was the little girl that the doll belonged to and others like her. Choked me up just reading it but seeing this scene for the first time with that in mind just added another layer to this movie. They got a lot wrong when it came to the real Ballad of Hua Mulan and how they treated the cultures of the Chinese and Hun, but they didn't hold back on the emotional depth.
I love that Eddy Murphy's voice is sooo recognizable, I love it!

One thing I always liked was Yao's declaration that they had to help "Ping." He and Ling and Chien Po knew they wouldn't win the fight, but they ran towards the Huns anyway. I always thought it was because they didn't want their friend to die alone.
They are so honourable. They would never let their comrade stand alone.
Mulan made good friends
Not only that, but when Mulan was exposed as a woman, they didn't care that she was a woman by then. They tried to defend her and stop the execution, but by law, they could do nothing.
Hey everyone hope you enjoyed the reaction! Next up will be Castaway and then Hunchback of Notre Dame!

Two great movies. Excellent choices👍
I can't waiiiit 😍😍😍🙏🏼 I simply LOVE your reactions so much!
All of the songs are absolute bangers.
"Be a Man" is fun to do when marching in cadence.
I have to agree, this movie is so much better than the terrible live action remake they took itself too seriously, as well as lacking any songs and original music in the movie.
"The greatest gift and honour, is having you for a daughter" this gets me every time 😭
*Very Fun Fact:*
We saw that Mulan was sitting by the stone dragon right before she chose to leave. This is important. Later when Mushu tries to awaken the stone dragon, it doesn’t wake up. Why? Because it’s already awakened. Mulan! The reason the stone dragon didn’t awaken was because it was already awake. Mulan was already on the path to protect the family by going to war for her father.
From now on every time somebody says “Let’s get down to business “ you’ll now automatically sing to yourself “and defeat the Huns!”. Such a great soundtrack and film.
Also, fun fact, in Hun culture they didn't minimize women the same way as the Chinese so that's why Shan Yu doesn'tm make a big deal that a woman was the one who took his victory on the mountain.
Ohhh thanks for explaining!
They aren't even really Huns either, they are Mongols. But the Great Granddaughter of Genghis Khan name was Khutalun, also known as the princesses of 10000 horses. She swore she would never marry any man unless he could beat her at wrestling, and to even challenge her to a match you had to wadger 100 or so horses. She never lost, and later because a general, favored by her father over 11 brothers, and even his choice to take the throne. It saddens me that she isn't more famous.
@@jamiesilver7401 They are huns though? Huns is just the English word for the Xiongnu.
@ Sausage Man There is a theory that the Huns were at some point descended from the Xiongnu, but there is no conclusive evidence for that right now. The Huns referred to in modern history spent most of their time terrorizing the Roman empire, and never fought china. The people that Mulan would have most likely fought are the mongols. Not to mention the character design definitely points to them being Mongols, even the horses look like modern Mongolian horses. Also mushu says "Now that's what I call Mongolian barbecue" when he burns the feathers off Shanyu's falcon.
Shan Yu ignores Mulan until she reveals her identity as the soldier from the mountains.
Mulan was always my favourite Disney movie. Even when I was a little girl I really liked that Mulan wasn't the typical helpless disney princess but that she actually defied all expectations/rules and went to war herself. Even better, she didn't really need the "prince" - he needed her in the end! My other two favourites were Princess and the Frog and Tangled. Even though the latter is the exact opposite of Mulan, I really enjoyed the humour in it.
Yeah, as a tomboy myself, Mulan was everything I could have wanted in a disney heroine. I loved her so much...I still do to this day.
Tomboy chain? 😄
The whole hair cutting sequence is so bad ass and intense it's one of my favorite scenes in animation, not to mention how serious it is
The best thing about the training montage is even though Mulan is the focus, we see that all of them are really untrained and we watch all of them grow and improve like Mulan.
That’s why Mulan is my favorite princess, she’s very awkward but then she becomes stronger
she wanted to be like the other girls and bring honor to her family by impressing the matchmaker. The fact that she failed so miserably was hard. But she brought honor in a different way with her desire to risk her life for her father and then for her friends and for her country. She thought of others before self.
"How many men does it take to deliver a message?" *Archer takes aim* "...One."
I had chills during that scene. It perfectly drives the point home that these guys are the villains.
I know that they're an invading army so leaving enemy soldiers in fighting condition would be foolish, but shooting a guy in the back they let go... that's evil.
Great reaction!! And I remember reading somewhere that the Great Stone Dragon doesn't wake up because his spirit is actually imbued directly in Mulan (during the rain scene, before she puts on the armor), so she essentially becomes the protector of her family.
The singing voice of the grandmother was one of the nuns in The Sound of Music. She's Marni Nixon, one of the best "ghost singers" in Hollywood in the 1950s-60s.
honestly I think Mulan is one of the most perfect animated films, I personally even put it above your top two 😅

She is a true Disney royalty, and the only actress who managed to be in all three of the major franchises.
@@swanpride yes! The Disney Hat Trick!
One thing I really like about this movie, and about Shan Yu himself, is that while everyone else looks down on Mulan for being a woman, and being a woman masquerading as a soldier, the first thing Shan Yu says when he sees Mulan isn't a comment about her being a woman; he acknowledges her as "the soldier from the mountains". Apparently, in Hun culture, women were just as great warriors as men, and fought alongside them. So, to Shan Yu, it's not strange to see Mulan as a soldier; he's just pissed that she's the one who nearly killed him and his army.
Usually it's the love interest, or even best friend, who goes against the norm for the main protagonist right at the start; but in this case, it's the villain.
Also, Shang's English singing voice is Donnie Osmond, one of my mom's favorite singers :3
Fun fact: Milan may be based on a true story. It’s one of those tales that is so old it’s hard to know what is true and what is not but it is believed that she was a real person!
It is based on the saga of Mulan, and ancient Chinese tale about a woman who may have existed. She didn't have a happy ending in the original saga.
@@alyshaharper8730 and she also internalised her suppression as a woman at the end.

It’s crazy to me how you haven’t seen a lot of the classics, but I’m really glad you’re sharing your reactions with us, your content has been great!
This is definitly one of, if not, the best Disney movies. A great score, solid plot, and valuable lessons. At the time this movie was made, Disney was hitting homerun after homerun, but this was a grandslam!
Chills everytime you see the smoke clear from the mountains and the figures appear on the horizon
About the lack of the father through the film:
At the beginning, they have a great relationship, he tells her to go at her own pace and she’ll get here eventually, and they have that beautiful moment under the cherry blossom tree
But then the conscription happens
And this tears a seam of their relationship
And the last time they speak, is a fight driven highly by emotion
(Mulan sits in the rain, clearly upset at the rift torn in their relationship, and decides she must take his place, so that she can do as he said and bring honour, and “find her place”)
After this Mulan leaves
(We see the father try to chase her but he falls down calling her name, and is forced to let her go. Mulan of course doesn’t see this, but this is where we see his regret that their last moment was a fight)
This creates actual stakes in the movie, not only does Mulan have to survive but she also has to get back home and reconcile with her father
She believes the only way for them to reconcile is for her to being honour back home, yet when she does that, he throws it away and hugs her
This resolves the main emotional journey through the story as well as resolving the relationship between the characters
I think it is important we don’t see him when she is away, because he is constantly in the back of the audience’s mind, just as with Mulan’s
Which creates the emotional suspense of the movie, “what is he doing?” “How is he feeling?” “How will he react to her when she returns?” etc.
Seeing him throughout the movie would’ve also made their reunion less impactful
As Mulan returns we see her father under the same tree from the beginning, this time shrunken down instead of sitting tall, and this time all the blossoms have bloomed symbolising Mulan’s journey is complete and she has become the person she dreamed of and her father hoped for
Their first beautiful emotional moment under that tree establishing their connection, with the last resolving the rift and solidifying their bond
If you want an uplifting classic + a banging soundtrack then Oliver and Company, a Goofy Movie, and Tarzan were made for you haha

Yep sure are. One of my fav parts of the movie also. The song is amazing (as they all are) and I love the montage of them going from absolutely terrible to awesome fighting champions. When she retrieves the arrow is the best part of that song for sure.
fun fact: When Mulan yells about how her father shouldn't have to fight and he says "you dishonor me", the animators forgot to put in their meal. All they have to eat is rice
During the sequence when Mulan gets ready to take her father's armor and disguise herself as a man, you can see dragon imagery throughout the entire thing, to symbolize the great dragon that watches over the family.
Conclusion: Mushu was unable to awaken the Great Dragon because it had already left, signifying that Mulan is the Great Dragon that protects her family.
Something fun to realize about the great stone dragon, it's absent from its stone form because it was already within Mulan's spirit. Also, some historical context, the Huns were far more egalitarian and allowed women to take on more roles than just wives and mothers. This is why Shan Yu, realizing Mulan was the soldier who set off the avalanche, could care less if she was a woman or not.
Thanks so much for the context and fun fact!

I remember back in 1998, I was an 8 year old boy, with my mom at the movie theater and there was Mulan and Lost in Space about to begin. She told me I could choose which one we would see, and I went for Mulan. Eventually, we saw Lost in Space in home video, but I don't regret my decision!
This movie has an all-star cast as well.
Fa Mulan- Ming-Na Wen (Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and The Mandalorian)
Li Shang- B.D. Wong (Jurassic Park/World and SVU)
Mushu- Eddie Murphy
Prime Ancestor- George Takei ( The OG Sulu in Star Trek)
Emperor- Pat Morita (Mr. Miyagi from The Karate Kid)
Also the voice actress for Grandmother Fa was Cindy Lou Who in the original How the Grinch Stole Christmas!
This movie cracks me up every single time, no matter how many times I watch it!!!!
I love that Mulan fails at the typically feminine traits and expectations and later the masculine. However, she does eventually become successful at stereotypically masculine traits, but she also earns respect first and distinguishes herself by retrieving the arrow-- a task that all the men failed at because they were using brute force tactics, she was successful because used a different tactic that isn't necessarily masculine (she looks at the problem differently than using brute force). One of the major themes beyond family/honor is that gender doesn't matter or define a person's greatness or ability to achieve. It lends greater importance to Mulan's self discovery "reflection" and realization that adhering to those traditional gender norms does not define a person. I would also like to add that later the men follow Mulan's tactics by dressing as women, calling back to her tactics in the retrieval of the arrow and their willingness to try something beyond brute force.
Mulan fires on all cylinders... Truly powerful story, great art style and animation (the huns charge in the mountains was a technical achievement in its day), and the soundtrack holds up as one of Disney's best. Such catchy lyrics and a beautiful, powerful score. (Also launched Christina Aguilera's career!)
I always LOVE this movie.
No one can watch that scene with her deciding to take her father's place and not get freakin' PUMPED!
I just cry lol
One of my favorite reactions of yours!! Please do more Disney movies, you really do shine when watching them and makes me smile the whole reaction🤗
I’m planning on doing a lot more of them!
"You don't meet a girl like that every dynasty." Lol
Thank you for reacting to Mulan! It's one of my favourite movies. Loved your reaction :D
It would be dope if you could react to spirit : stallion of the cimarron
On my list!
Suuuch a good movie!
@@seeing8spots Only if you're not knowledgeable about horses. The animation is good, the soundtrack is incredible, but there are SO. MANY. INACCURACIES.
@@livingandthriving i AM knowledgeable about horses and rode for about 10yrs :) I also acknowledge it's a kids movie/family film and conveying animal moods to audiences with virtually zero narration or language is HARD. So they included things like eyebrows etc to help convey those messages in clear ways even non horse people could understand :)
@@seeing8spots That's honestly the least of my concerns. My bigger issue is with blatant misinformation re: horses in general. For instance, Spirit would NOT have stayed in the herd he was born in; he would have been kicked out when he reached puberty (to avoid inbreeding, as he would otherwise have tried to mate with his mother and full/half sisters in the herd). Little Creek's training methods are questionable: tying two horses together and letting them loose is extremely unsafe (especially with the rope around their necks like that; realistically they could have wound up strangled). And on and on. And kids watch that and assume (since this movie essentially claims to be historical fiction) that this is accurate. And then should they decide to start riding, their instructors have to set them straight on just about everything. (I taught horseback riding for two summers and my fellow instructors and I cursed that movie for making our jobs harder.)
FUN FACT: Mulan has the highest body count in all of Disney animated history! Including all the Disney villains!
Not really, she has a big body count that for sure but there are villains/other characters that surpass her if we start to do math
@@lucia5556 There are actually multiple people who have done the math and showed their numbers, and Mulan does have the highest body count, villains included.
@@toria0214 did you take into consideration the damages the titans caused during the Movie Hercules, cuz that counts as the villain's actions killing a lot of people.
Of Disney heroes probably, but including Disney villains? Doubt it
for all this movie's inaccuracies, this is much much better than the recent live action movie.
Nick: They can't die, this is a Disney movie.
Mulan: observe
The entire soundtrack is excellent, one of my favorites.
I would definitely recommend Disney's The Rescuers next. It's a heartwarming movie and highly underrated!!
Rescuers Down Under is 100× better in every way, but you do kinda need the character setup from the first.
Honestly he needs to do the whole Canon
Oh " The Rescuers " is one of my favorite. It was the one I always watched when I was sick. I listened the song " SOS society " recently and it maked me crying 😭
@@a.g.demada5263 YESS I looove that song , I still tear up hearing it
@@whenraindropsfall I'm french so it sounds differently but it's perfect for me and even now I remember the lyrics. The man who voiced Bernard in the french version is dead last year in September 😭
One of the best jokes in this movie imo is Mulan saying "I never want to see a naked man again", and then then most of the army runs past, so she saw a good fifty.
"Women should be able to do whatever they want" ... ok im subscribing just bc you said that. Preach! 👏👏👏
She does not want to become a warrior just wants to help her family and bring them honour.
Mulan: We’re not going to make it to the emperor in time!
Also Mulan: Let’s do our makeup 🥴
Great reaction Nick! So happy you’re good. Please take care of yourself.
Thanks, will do, and glad you liked it!
I love the scene but I do checked at this bit everytime. Like where'd they done those dresses and makeup? lol
Your reactions are so humble. I’m loving this
Both of us crying at the end 😪 I cry every time I watch this lol it’s my fave Disney movie 💖
We’re all here for you
Thank you for watching and liking it! Glad they have helped you and really appreciate that!
So, the deal with the stone dragon not awakening. There’s a theory that when Mulan decided to take her father’s place, she was sitting beneath the dragon in the rain. She awoke the great stone dragon within herself.
Nick during “Reflection”: I’m gonna have to listen to this soundtrack after.
Me: oh just you wait. Movie’s not even close to over
In the real story of Mulan, "Mushu" was actually her childhood friend who ran into her during training and knew who she was, and did his best to help hide her identity and protect her. I highly suggest watching the Chinese movie 'Mulan: Legendary Warrior' (2009) for a more emotional, realistic story of Mulan. It makes me cry every time I watch it!
Since you enjoyed the music, fun fact about the singing voice of Mulan - it's the same singing voice as Jasmine in Aladdin, Lea Salonga.
That’s so cool! Thanks for letting me know!
This is hands down my favorite Disney movie because there is no “princess” waiting on someone to rescue her. She rescues herself.
Fact she isn't a princess. Disney put her as a princess because of what she has done.
@@anthonyanderson3448 She's as good as a princess already
I'm literally pausing so I can wait till my food gets here so I can watch your reaction. I'm THAT excited
Haha hope you like it!
7:43 This is one of the best songs from all the disney movies! 😍😍
This movie has always been an inspiration to me as a woman, that we can be as delicate as a flower, but strong as warriors!
Women can be wherever they want and they can be whoever they want. ❤🔥
