- After enduring the horror show that was Phil's playthrough of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, now it is time for the remake of a classic Super Nintendo RPG that Nintendo collaborated with Square back in 1995, Super Mario RPG.
Join Phil as he controls Mario, Mallow, Geno, Bowser and Princess Peach as they try to stop the Smithy Gang from taking over the Mushroom Kingdom while enduring the most cringeworthy voice acting by Phil, bad tactics, getting lost in mazes and stuck with cryptic puzzles as well as having streams where Phil doesn't get anything from his chat because quite frankly, nobody owes Phil anything. Enjoy this one even if it's more tame compared to the previous TiHYDP and I will see you all for a TiHYDP of a old DSP playthrough from 10 years ago and for TiHYDP Super Metroid Game Grumps Edition.

While admittibly one of Phil's less painful playthroughs, it still reeks of his usual Phil-isms like bad attempts at "Voice acting" and "Comedy", him being screwed by his sluggish reflexes as well as padding out the stream for artificial "engagement". Again, if it's any solice, At least we probably won't have to stomach him Raging at the post game boss rematches.(Although I dread Phil's attempt at the TTYD remake.)
At least him not doing the post game content is a blessing, but that's foreshadowing what's about to come when we get to TTYD.

I'm hoping, I'm PRAYING he plays TTYD in the middle of the "RPG overload"! It has everything he could have ever wanted and more: Being a Nintendo game first of all, and RPG, a gameplay loop that encourages and rewards experimentation and creativity with the badge system, overworld segments that also encourage exploration and backtracking with new abilities to discover Shines to upgrade your party, and a very specific questionably designed party member that has a high chance of sending his puritan rage through the roof :3

This was a very fun time thing to watch live especially with 1 person bringing out some very very fun Mario R PG tips that I never heard about when comparing the english in Japanese versions. While this was a very shorter amount of Phil being stupid it still doesn't change the fact that he was being very very dumb and his voice acting was very terrible. At least we had Aerath with her chair, Nia, Sothis, Dimitri and everyone in chat to balance it out so great job with this video Mitch!
And of course let's not get started with Phil's pathetic attempts of voice acting, it was painful to go through.

_Super Mario RPG Remake._ Before this remake came out, I haven't played the original SNES title. I'm very happy that Nintendo brought it over to the Switch this past November!
As usual with _Mario_ games, it's filled to the brim with charming characters with great writing, a nice presentation, and a soundtrack with so many iconic tunes that were remade by the original game's composer. And, of course, fun gameplay that can make you lose track of time.
As of February 2024, the remake had sold over 3 million copies, already outselling the original game. It makes me very excited that with this, along with the upcoming _Paper Mario Thousand Year Door_ remake that Nintendo has been listening to the criticisms of the modern _Paper Mario_ games. They have their qualities, absolutely. But from what I understand, they're not nearly as celebrated as the older Mario RPGs.
However, that may be changing if the success of _Super Mario RPG Remake_ is anything to go by.
There's also a chance of the _Mario & Luigi_ series making a return. Apparently, Nintendo has been making surveys asking what the fans want in future Mario RPGs. I'd love for them to make a collection of the previous _Mario & Luigi_ games for the Switch/its successor!
Hopefully the success of Super Mario RPG could pave the way for remakes of the Mario & Luigi games, we should see when Paper Mario TTYD remake comes out next month.
@@mitchdesertsquiddogamingIIRC, _Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga_ and _Bowser's Inside Story_ have already recieved remakes for the 3DS. It's an odd choice, considering that the Switch was already out by the time that both of the remakes were released. They both sold pretty poorly as a result.
Nintendo could port them over to the Switch/its successor. But only time will tell on what they plan to do with the _Mario & Luigi_ series.
This is a personal hope, but if Nintendo does bring back the series, I'd love for them to go back to the pixelated style of the older _M&L_ titles.
I will only believe that Paper Mario is TRULY BACK when the Seventh Game plays more like the Classic Paper Mario Games.

I haven't had the chance to get Super Mario RPG so I dunno what's different with it compared to the '95 version. But I'm expecting pain, suffering, and whole lot of manbaby whining. Or... you know... dead air because Phil's just boring as dirt.

This game has more post game content, optional rematches with the bosses and new special powers in the game.

I think he's played it on normal mode, but Super Mario RPG is quite an easy game, but in the more accessible for newcomers type to those new to RPGs.
