Not even 4 days after this video was released and already 1K views! Thank you guys so much! ❤❤I'm currently at work on the Super Mario Galaxy 2 Minimum Spin Challenge, so if any of you have any ideas on how to skip some Spins, comment down below or reply to this comment. It might be quite a while until it's finished, so please be patient. I try to read every comment, your guys' kind words keep me motivated to do this challenge. Again, thank you all for getting this video to 1K views, and I hope y'all have a wonderful day! Edit: Melty Molten Galaxy's Volcano Climb Spinless has been done! ruclips.net/video/QetTiFneQVI/видео.html 4 Spins were saved today!
if you do end up doing that followup video i would love to see an optimal any% route! i was pleasantly surprised that this was a 100% challenge since most challenge runs are just any% though. surprisingly well made video for such a low view count!
Here is the mega compellation of all my comments, sources, and saves: 13:06 you can go underneath the invisible wall and get hit by a spicy coconut to skip defeating the enemies (you will gain at least 1 meta spin though) ruclips.net/user/clipUgkxjG37vkqTZUSnsQOX-CYJ19uP097Rz5xq 19:58 you can skip the boo mushroom entirely by doing shenanigans with the pull stars outside to clip into the wall ruclips.net/user/clipUgkxHHYQ_R5XGhHGelmDqfFRjn0cDZgHyDt5 24:36 you can save spins by holding backwards instead of forwards, you actually get more distance ruclips.net/user/clipUgkxoNWj0zcF0V-vIuZ4OF_PPIyDdWd2ShSH 25:25 2 player mode can freeze enemies so you could just hold them in place Haven't tested it on moles but most enemies freeze. 36:34 You can make it to the center island with the bee mushroom, I would recommend going to the tree that is on the island that you get the star on for the cosmic race ruclips.net/user/clipUgkxpGMn-IV_hUCiBqfhFgsgPV6sWpu3VOpy 37:23 You can clip into the cage by crouch spinning (you have to be close enough to the launch star) ruclips.net/user/clipUgkxX1zZYqMuQaYEGN_JXUnePaFXQ6V4hh0s 37:50 You don't need to use the screws technically as there is a speed run trick to wall jump up the arm instead, or you can slope jump your way across the green pipe coming out of the left leg, I am not sure if you would save spins from this trick though ruclips.net/user/clipUgkx1EmX4r50PGon_RkK99TqUQ13cDQfx3qB ruclips.net/user/clipUgkxI0LqAnrh9xzn8CBjSsbT8qWf83XdWVst 38:17 You don't need to screw in the giant screw by using momentum from mechakoopas, while this has only been done via tas with a 2 player spin, I think it is possible without the 2 player spin ruclips.net/video/K9DVgucdpfU/видео.html
Adding to the comment about a second player being able to freeze enemies: The second player is also, for whatever reason, able to actually damage Bowser by themself in the second part of the final boss fight (as seen, for example, in this video): ruclips.net/video/JKxFghg-yRA/видео.html That also saves a few spins!
It seems the reason they're able to damage Bowser is because the second player can interact with those weird green balloon things (not sure what their official name is) I'm really not sure how to handle 2P in general but will keep this in mind if the ruleset I eventually decide for 2P allows it!
Jumping on the ‘saving spins’ train, I think I was able to save a spin on the vine at 5:24. Instead of back flipping, I triple jumped into the vine, which seemed to give me enough height and momentum to get off the vine spinless. _I’m playing on an emulator where I have spins set to a button press, so I’m sure I didn’t do an accidental spin._ I have a clip of me doing this, I’ll edit this comment once I have the clip uploaded and such. Edit: Here it is. ruclips.net/video/D6Lo2zN29wU/видео.html
36:34 It is just about possible to reach the island in the centre without spinning via efficient use of Bee Mario/Luigi to fly from near the top of the mangrove (you still need to spin to get off the island)
A follow up video covering some Spin skips I missed while making this video. In terms of the next "unique" challenge run, probably the same thing with Galaxy 2. Don't have any clue when either will release however... other stuff has me busy at the moment.
God this was one of my favorite challenge videos ive ever seen. The jokes were quick and on point, despite the length very little time was wasted, the editing was snappy, all relevant information was explained, the tone was genuine, the challenge is unique. Im probably gonna end up watching it again at some point just for how well made it is.
incredible editing and organization! Really hope you catch the algorithm cause you definitely deserve it, the immense amount of effort put into this shows!! Also not sure if this was intentional or not but the transition at 30:48 is so damn seemless!
this video's name not only doesn't say "beating the game without" but does actually state that this game is one of the ones that you literally can't beat without spinning in the first few minutes. i like it
Here's a breakdown of all the gameplay spins spent in this video. Directly attacking bosses: 65 (Bowser himself accounts for 29 of those 65) Breaking crystals: 37 Other stationary destructible objects: 4 Coconut launching: 19 (4 coconuts on the ground, 15 in the air) Throwing shells: 22 (9 on chests, 3 on non-boss enemies, 10 on bosses) Fire Flower fireballs: 10 Boo Mushroom intangibility: 3 Red Star flight: 1 Screws: 7 Levers: 2 Valves: 2 Gravity switches: 4 Candle extinguishing: 5 Bomb Boo use: 9 Bob-omb use: 10 (1 to stun, the other 9 to throw) Tornado use: 15 Dandelion use: 19 (7 to deploy dandelions, 12 to do the mid-air boost) Damaging non-boss moles: 3 Stunning Goombeetles: 2 Swag skips: 3 **Miscounted: 1** That's right, if I'm seeing this correctly, Forgado saved one spin without even knowing it! (Dusty Dune Galaxy - Bullet Bill on Your Back. It seems to me he mistakenly recounted the spin used to destroy the thorn bush, even though the Hungry Luma is on the planet with the thorn bush and can be reached and fed without doing anything to the thorn bush.)
It seems as though I accidentally just counted a Meta Spin as a Gameplay Spin in Dusty Dune Secret Star... woops! This was purely an editing mistake and the final results of this challenge remain unchanged. Still, thank you for further categorizing every Spin in this challenge! I wonder how long this took?
The fact that the minimum number of spins required to beat the game is over 400 shows how well designed that game mechanic is, this game truly is a masterpiece
The same cannot be said by Sunshine. Unless you use it to save yourself or killing enemies, there's not much use for them. Also, the Hover Nozzle is completely unnecessary in the main game (excluding extra shines)
at 46:00 you neglected to talk about the Luigi Shyness Meter which prevents Luigi from climbing slopes. If his meter is maxed out then he will refuse to climb the slope. Next time take better care of your Luigi and he'll allow you to climb.
I mean a core is just the center of something, but that is pretty funny how that Celeste reference just transitions into talking about a core lmfao. Not something I really thought about, good ear!
@@Forgado I figured it was intentional since there was a Celeste reference right before and Celeste’s Core is similarly hot/cold themed like freezeflame is
I’ve gotta give a HUGE amount of props for those normal Star to comet transitions. I almost didn’t even notice the cut for the Dino Piranha cutscene it was that good.
i appreciate your dedication to doing all 120 stars but i am curious what the minimum spins would be to just beat bowser in the center of the universe, a lot of what attracts me to these kinds of videos are the routing decisions taken to minimize spins so it would have been cool to see you tackle that before trying every star in the game
That's fair, but I am... really bad at routing stuff like this lol. If I ever find enough Spin saves to warrant an update video, I might try and route Any% Minimum Spins, but it's not a huge priority for me right now. Thanks for the feedback!
it could be possible to figure that out by looking at how many stars are needed to unlock each dome & tracking how few spins one could get that many stars in. like, let’s say for example that you need 10 stars to unlock the Fountain. you could look at the spin data for all the Terrace galaxies from this video & choose the 10 stars with the lowest spin count to complete, keeping in mind what order the galaxies are unlocked in and how many stars each galaxy requires to unlock. then, for unlocking the Kitchen, you’d figure out what low-spin stars remain between both of the domes you’ve now unlocked, and you’d repeat that process for every dome. basically, you’d have to do a lot of math, but the info you need to answer that question is technically in this video if you’re really curious.
I’m gonna be honest I didn’t realize this wasn’t from a big creator. I don’t typically watch these videos from smaller creators because they’re usually not well-made but you did this really well.
Originally, I didn't like that you played with the advantageous green plumber (Luigi), but there is a decent explanation for it from a lore perspective. Mario got the power to spin from his little luma buddy, and little luma buddy HATES Luigi, as LLB and AGP have not met yet, and they both dislike people they haven't met before.
If I'm being completely honest, my entire motivation for this challenge was so I didn't need to play the EXACT same game again but with Luigi in order to 100% it. And it worked, I played this game back in 2007ish but only got around to 100%ing it in 2020, specifically by doing this challenge. So in my headcanon, Super Luigi Galaxy is just Luigi wanting to outshine his brother's shadow for once.
37:50 You don't need to use the screws technically as there is a speed run trick to wall jump up the arm instead, or you can slope jump your way across the green pipe coming out of the left leg, I am not sure if you would save spins from this trick though
This has become a comfort video for me, whenever it gets recommend to me, i gotta watch, whenever im playing mario galaxy i think of this video, when idk what i want to watch, i watch this video, at the gym, while driving, while eating. I stg i am at least 10% of the view count
I really appreciate that spoiler warning. You obviously get spoilers from a video about completing the game but I love when people put warnings in front of things even tho they are pretty old by now. Way too many people casually talk about the ending of breaking bad, Harry Potter etc because these were out for a while now.
If this video was your FIRST attempt at making a script AND doing a voice over on it, I'm seriously impressed because I really liked it. I thought it was put together nicely and entertaining, and I also enjoyed the funny bits you added, Overall, great video, interesting idea, and you did a job well done
this was a wonderfully well-researched, scripted, organized, and edited video and it's absolutely shocking to me that this is your first time doing something like this. i came into this expecting a meme and was blown away by the genuine heart behind the video- enough to comment about it. hope you have a wonderful time doing whatever else you're doing :)
I really enjoyed the quality you put into the video. Rythm, viewer's comfort and understanding, pleasant voice cover, and more ... I wish we had an idea if how many spins are supposed to be done to beat the game normally? Well, i Hope you had fun doing this because I had when watching. Take care !
@@Forgado When I was on my Xbox, my entire camera roll was just filled with clips and images of random glitches I found in my years of playing across all kinds of different games...so I feel you dude
First Of All, Great video! you introduced me to new strats that I didnt know existed such as the battlerock 3 pull star skip and its very clear you did a lot of research! however there are a few spins that can be cut out of the game that were looked over. I am gonna try and refrain from pointing out strats that have been pointed by others however since that would just be a waste of time for me. Space Junk 1/Comet (I'll just call it C): In total 4 spins can be cut out here. First of all there is a way to skip the starchip planet launch star entirely by using what the community call space junk 1 skip which uses pull star momentum to give luigi enough speed to skip the starchip planet. Source: ruclips.net/video/CEews-LfLtM/видео.html Secondly I love the strat that you use for the captain toad skip near the end however there is an easier alternative that can cut out a spin for both levels by using momentum from gravity change to get a mega triple jump. With this you are able to skip out the extra spin needed to get to the sling star. Source: ruclips.net/video/X40Xvf7P4kI/видео.html Gusty Garden 3: 2 Spins can be skipped here by doing a precise gravity skip to skip to skip from the 2nd arrow to the last one. Source: ruclips.net/video/fwCBC2bHJuM/видео.html Melty Molten 1/C: You can skip the 1st sling star by backwards slope climbing(without spinning) up to the fence near the torches in melty molten 2, then backflip off and slope climb to the 2nd sling star. Source:ruclips.net/video/cuCQdm2f9zs/видео.html Melty Molten 3: The planet with the fire enemies can be skipped entirely with a pretty precise gravity skip that requires 3 health, saving 1 spin. Source: ruclips.net/video/x0X2Cx2Yf2I/видео.html Thats all, very well made video and super glad you put a lot of thought and effort into this and inspired me to try and lower the counter. :)
Amazing video, very entertaining and performed great. This showed up in my recommendations out of the blue and I watched the entire thing in one sitting. I will note that SPG64 did a video of galaxy 2 without spinning already, but I’d love to see other challenges done in either game. Love the work, you deserve many views and I’m glad I got to watch
I can’t believe that someone is making videos like this that aren’t really popular, remember me as and early sub when your at 1 mil, your videos are already so good that you should be up there! And he also seems so genuine with his comments, this is now one of my favourite RUclipsrs!!
Oh this is one of the most interesting challenge videos I've seen in a while, the dedications really comes through! Looking forward for more stuff from you!
You make the exact kind of video I’ve always wanted to make but never had the time or energy (or was being lazy). Entertaining, informative, and fun. Definitely dropping a sub after the algorithm showed me this and I hope to see what’s next from you - it’s insane that your channel only has 2K subs (but considering I saw this vid when you were at like 1K, you’re gonna clearly be big soon)
I love these kind of videos, and I love super mario galaxy, and the effort and quality put forth in this video and the game play tricks is phenomenal, and I have to admit, made me laugh quite a few times. I looked in your channel and was completely surprised to find that this was your first one in this style, I hope to see more like this from you!
Nice video! Im a super mario galaxy speedrunner and was very surprised by some things shown in the video that I didn't know about like the clip at the end of Dusty Dune 3! Looking at the video I found at least 21 (?) spins that can be saved by using "speedrun strats":), though quite a few of them make use of the Co-Star functionality so I'll leave it up to you whether you think those count as spin saves or not. Here is a list: - Good Egg 3: it's possible to hold the coconut with Co-Star and wait for a different one to hit Kaliente twice with 1 spin at the start of the fight, bringing the total amount of spins for that fight from 6 to 5 (demonstration: ruclips.net/video/X9_NH-mlhQs/видео.html ) - Space Junk 1 / Comet: by abusing the weird mechanics involving holding neutral while switching sides on the toad planet, it's possible to gain enough height with a triple jump where you can immediately get into the sling star with 1 spin, saving 1 spin in both levels. (demonstration: ruclips.net/video/jNcNlACuzlI/видео.html ) (this only works when holding neutral for a bit after the second jump, and the height gained is a bit inconsistent) - Space Junk 2: It's possible to skip defeating the two enemies by doing an extremely precise fireball boost from the right enemy, you do need a spin for this though so only 1 of the two spins is saved here. (demonstration: ruclips.net/video/9xzA4of9_ew/видео.html ) - Battlerock Secret: With very precise placements it's actually possible to clean all the garbage with only 4 bombs, which already saves 1 spin on it's own, but with it and the fact that you can activate other bob ombs on the ground while holding one by running in to them and with some clever routing I'm almost certain it's possible to blow yourself up on two of the boxes saving another spin (you can get starbits from underneath the saucer at the start and shoot the indicators to get a coin so you don't die from the 3 explosions) (demonstration of the 4-bomb method: ruclips.net/video/H3kvRBXsAdU/видео.html ) - Ghostly 1: there are 2 ways to save 1 spin at the end, but the most simple one is to clip through the bottom of the mansion by precisely using the pull stars in the section with the key, this skips the first gate saving 1 spin (demonstration: ruclips.net/video/H3kvRBXsAdU/видео.html ) - Gusty Garden 3: It's possible to skip 2 of the arrows here, by doing a precise longjump from the second section to the last arrow, saving 2 spins. (demonstration: ruclips.net/video/_IbLKm7HxB8/видео.html ) - Bubble Blast: It's possible to skip one of the sling stars by doing a precise ground pound into a firebar to cut to the next section, saving 1 spin. (demonstration: ruclips.net/video/H3kvRBXsAdU/видео.html ) - Sea Slide 3: It's possible to skip the screw by flying from the top of the tree to the gravity field of the island in the middle, saving 1 spin. (demonstration: ruclips.net/video/H3kvRBXsAdU/видео.html ) - Toy Time 1: It's technically possible (and has been done in real time, but is not remotely consistent) to clip into the launch star on the second planet, skipping the screw and saving 1 spin. (demonstration: ruclips.net/video/MhaBPBFn77M/видео.html ) I also have a suspicion that the last part can be done in 1 spin by jumping into the armpit and walljumping all the way up, I usually use at least 2 spins for this as well but there might be a way to do it with just 1 if you wait until the arm goes all the way down. (demonstration: ruclips.net/video/H3kvRBXsAdU/видео.html ) - Lava Reactor: There is more usage of Co-star possible here to save spins, I honestly don't know how many it could save and it's actually way more precise to get the double hit than in the other fight but it is possible and has to save at least 1 spin. ("demonstration":ruclips.net/video/uDkBAVrVwlY/видео.html ) - Dreadnought 1: I'm not entirely sure about it but if you can manage to hit all 3 enemies at the same time I can't imagine there not being a scenario where you can be fast enough to kill all three of them before they get back up (you might even be able to keep them down by holding them with the Co-Star although Im not sure if Co-Star works like that for those enemies) - Dreadnought Secret: Much like in Battlerock, even though there are 6 targets it is possible (but pretty precise) to clear all targets with 5 bombs. With preemptive bomb activations and an insane route it might also be possible to again blow yourself up on two different of those targets but this one I'm much less sure of. (demonstration of 5 bomb strats: www.twitch.tv/videos/738372727?t=3h32m49s ) - Bowser's Galaxy Reactor: It's possible to hit the green bulbs with Co-Star in such a way that they actually hit bowser without needing to shake any controllers, saving 5 spins at once! (demonstration-ish: ruclips.net/video/X9_NH-mlhQs/видео.html ) There was nothing else I could spot right away but if you want to find more I highly suggest you get in contact with the TASing community of this game, as they have looked into quite a lot of ABC stuff of this game and might know other techniques to save more spins that I'm not aware of. Other than that if you want to talk to me about this you can contact me as well as many other people in the mario galaxy speedrunning discord! Edit: Just saw this from WaluigiGoesWa in the comments and a very good point that I completely overlooked but Im pretty sure you can save a good majority of the non-launch star spins by pressing "Co-Star A" while aiming at luigi in mid air to perform a spin that way, not sure how many this could save but it could cut down the total number of spins significantly! Here are some (? maybe just one for now) other improvements I think are very likely to be possible but of which I don't have a full concrete demonstration or proof available of: - Ghostly 3: If you can lure a bat in the correct position it might be possible to backflip, bounce on the bat and land on the bone. From there it's possible (but stupidly precise) to make it to the part with the launch star without using any spin. (demonstration of getting to the launch star with 1 spin, used to get on top of the bone, not having the invincibility star which takes 1 spin to get shouldn't matter here if you're a bit more careful: ruclips.net/video/H3kvRBXsAdU/видео.html ) - Space Junk 2: I'm fairly certain it's possible to skip to the ship with the pull star on the far left on the ship, just not sure if it's possible without doing a spin after the fling.
While watching the video I thought "what a crazy challenge, sometimes I do more than 50 spins", and when I see the strategies you used to get through the levels they drove me crazy. A great video, one that shows the great affection towards this video game :)
,.,., 299,321-1mo It is so interesting to see how much people can go for in a game, in order to enjoy it. Things that aren't even remotely intended to become "categories" by the developers, suddenly played by many in order to re-experience a great game. Nice video, keep it up.
Honestly planning on rewatching this in the future. Such a good video, I was definitely expecting more likes because this video is so well put together. ‘Twas job, man!
Great video. I’d recommend investing in a good audio set up, and especially a mic with a pop filter, there were a lot of harsh plosives and fricatives in the video and the the audio is a bit fuzzy sounding.
Amazingly done video and I always love seeing more Super Mario Galaxy videos. Looking forward to seeing more great stuff from you. 😊 A sequel with Super Mario Galaxy 2 would be awesome.
Front Facing Slope Climbing is basically the BLJ of Galaxy, from a mechanical standpoint. Also, I wonder what the least spins to simply beat Bowser with 60 Stars is.
loved this video! here are some of my favorite parts 13:22 IS THAT YOSHI!? 25:44 safe 29:38 rip 30:47 transition and i would love a super mario galaxy 2 video like this!!
The fact that he essentially just skipped over ghostly toy time and dreadnought purple coins is insane to me, especially when they are probably the 3 hardest levels in the entire game
this is so cool! how come you have so few subscribers? i really like how during the fire and ice galaxy you switch between the two versions of its song in the background depending on where they'd play during the level as the footage rolls over the respective areas
Yeah what Hoob Guy said, this is my first video like this, so I'm not really that big yet. Also, thank you for noticing that about the editing. I put a lot of heart into details like that :)
Absolutely amazing video!!! I loved how you showed/mentioned every spin, instead of just saying “this galaxy too x spins”. Sadly a lot of challenge videos try and speed up halfway through and just smush the later half into ‘this this this’. Definitely subscribing, amazingly done! Even if it is a once off, I greatly enjoyed your commentary too!
Very, very well done my dude! Both the top tier editing and the challenge itself. I think the success of this video speaks for itself, and you should definitely do more challenge videos.
38:17 You don't need to screw in the giant screw by using momentum from mechakoopas, while this has only been done via tas with a 2 player spin, I think it is possible without the 2 player spin
36:34 You can make it to the center island with the bee mushroom, I would recommend going to the tree that is on the island that you get the star on for the cosmic race

It's a very nice video! I really hope that SplatSucks had fun playing smash lol
You should have more ngl, great content that I hope to see more of in the future
this is the type of video that you find from extremely popular channels, so i’m extremely impressed!!! this is amazingly put together!
those channels usually cheat constantly anyway so the smaller ones do it better lol
im gonna be honest, i thought this was an extremely popular channel until i read this comment
Its almost like skill and popularity are completely unrelated
Expected for the mic quality this is the kind of video you find with 300k views on 150k channels
'cept for the mic quality...

What a madlad! Will be sure to check all of these out. Thank you so much for your contributions!
Adding to the comment about a second player being able to freeze enemies: The second player is also, for whatever reason, able to actually damage Bowser by themself in the second part of the final boss fight (as seen, for example, in this video):
ruclips.net/video/JKxFghg-yRA/видео.html
That also saves a few spins!
_I’m playing on an emulator where I have spins set to a button press, so I’m sure I didn’t do an accidental spin._
I have a clip of me doing this, I’ll edit this comment once I have the clip uploaded and such.

Really? That's interesting, and also scary because if so, I have to go back to look at every vine lmao
25:43 is pure comedy gold. This video is elite
This was a great video and your breakdown of it was very informative and organized and I enjoyed it very much:)
I was thinking of this run a while back, and it's crazy that you're the first one to do it! (At least on RUclips)
This is really cool! Great job at this 😄
wanted a vid like this for years no cap
Dude!! Please do this for SMG2 I loved watching this hope you will do it sometime in the future! Awesome video!
thank you for adding captions!!
this must have taken AGES. this is great work
36:34 It is just about possible to reach the island in the centre without spinning via efficient use of Bee Mario/Luigi to fly from near the top of the mangrove (you still need to spin to get off the island)
Eagerly awaiting the next upload, any hints on what it'll be? (if you know what it'll be yet)
A follow up video covering some Spin skips I missed while making this video.
In terms of the next "unique" challenge run, probably the same thing with Galaxy 2.
Don't have any clue when either will release however... other stuff has me busy at the moment.
Mario galaxy: *made in 2007*
Forgado: *major spoilers*
great video, im also curious hows galaxy 2 going? wish you the best of luck on that one
Working on it, currently stuck on Hightail Falls Speedy Comet, but otherwise I've been making pretty good progress on it.

This video is very well made, I was surprised to see that this wasn’t made by an extremely popular creator. You’ve earned yourself another sub!
Thank you so much for the kind words!
Yep, the transition there was intentional, thank you for noticing :)

this video's name not only doesn't say "beating the game without" but does actually state that this game is one of the ones that you literally can't beat without spinning in the first few minutes. i like it
Here's a breakdown of all the gameplay spins spent in this video.
Directly attacking bosses: 65 (Bowser himself accounts for 29 of those 65)
Breaking crystals: 37
Other stationary destructible objects: 4
Coconut launching: 19 (4 coconuts on the ground, 15 in the air)
Throwing shells: 22 (9 on chests, 3 on non-boss enemies, 10 on bosses)
Fire Flower fireballs: 10
Boo Mushroom intangibility: 3
Red Star flight: 1
Screws: 7
Levers: 2
Valves: 2
Gravity switches: 4
Candle extinguishing: 5
Bomb Boo use: 9
Bob-omb use: 10 (1 to stun, the other 9 to throw)
Tornado use: 15
Dandelion use: 19 (7 to deploy dandelions, 12 to do the mid-air boost)
Damaging non-boss moles: 3
Stunning Goombeetles: 2
Swag skips: 3
**Miscounted: 1**
That's right, if I'm seeing this correctly, Forgado saved one spin without even knowing it!
Ty for saving me an hour lol
25:45 it’s always the little things that make me appreciate somebody’s editing the most
Reminds me of the GameCube meme.
0:01 I didn't because i don't have the money to buy a Wii and a copy of the game to play it or a strong phone/pc to run Dolphin.
I'm at the beginning of the video. Thanks for the spoiler
@@pierfrancescomartinello644 Hey maybe you shouldn’t read comments before watching the video
This game is cheeks. the bad and slow movement/gameplay with generic forgettable levels
@@BIRDSBIRDSBIRDSBIRDSBIRDS clearly, you have not seen speedruns. it looks slow at first, but theres some really nice tech.
at 46:00 you neglected to talk about the Luigi Shyness Meter which prevents Luigi from climbing slopes. If his meter is maxed out then he will refuse to climb the slope. Next time take better care of your Luigi and he'll allow you to climb.
Since you don't need all the stars to beat the game, what is the minimum number of spins you need to beat it?
That clip of picking up the 6 health mushroom and immediately getting hit got me.
*6 up jingle* DOH
28:10 The dashless/spinless golden strawberry reference after climbing a mountain was amazing 😂
And then about 30 seconds later when they say the core… of freezeflame
I mean a core is just the center of something, but that is pretty funny how that Celeste reference just transitions into talking about a core lmfao. Not something I really thought about, good ear!
@@Forgado I figured it was intentional since there was a Celeste reference right before and Celeste’s Core is similarly hot/cold themed like freezeflame is
Nope, just a pure coincidence.
9:16 You actually can get up on top of the tree! CeeMeCraft does it in his no starbits challenge, but I believe it requires spins to do
I’ve gotta give a HUGE amount of props for those normal Star to comet transitions. I almost didn’t even notice the cut for the Dino Piranha cutscene it was that good.
Your voice and comedy is like Simpleflips in a time machine and holy shit I love it
i appreciate your dedication to doing all 120 stars but i am curious what the minimum spins would be to just beat bowser in the center of the universe, a lot of what attracts me to these kinds of videos are the routing decisions taken to minimize spins so it would have been cool to see you tackle that before trying every star in the game
Skill issue, I can beat this entire game with 0 spins without using controller AND with the console being turned off!
@@hoobguy I used my 19$ Fortnite card thank you very much!
@@hoobguy Oh f-
I live in "Spain" without the "A"!
@@Forgado outshine mario and LLBastard, ofcourse
@@ForgadoHow goes, btw?
@@maragazh9993 Not bad, can't really complain
37:50 You don't need to use the screws technically as there is a speed run trick to wall jump up the arm instead, or you can slope jump your way across the green pipe coming out of the left leg, I am not sure if you would save spins from this trick though
I swear you're going to actually get the Spin count below 400 lmao

I really appreciate that spoiler warning. You obviously get spoilers from a video about completing the game but I love when people put warnings in front of things even tho they are pretty old by now. Way too many people casually talk about the ending of breaking bad, Harry Potter etc because these were out for a while now.

The fact that you didn’t call it the spinimum run is a crime.
25:46 The life mushroom song followed by the hit sound from the brambles was such comedic timing
Source: ruclips.net/video/CEews-LfLtM/видео.html
Secondly I love the strat that you use for the captain toad skip near the end however there is an easier alternative that can cut out a spin for both levels by using momentum from gravity change to get a mega triple jump. With this you are able to skip out the extra spin needed to get to the sling star.
Source: ruclips.net/video/X40Xvf7P4kI/видео.html
Gusty Garden 3: 2 Spins can be skipped here by doing a precise gravity skip to skip to skip from the 2nd arrow to the last one.
Source: ruclips.net/video/fwCBC2bHJuM/видео.html
Melty Molten 1/C: You can skip the 1st sling star by backwards slope climbing(without spinning) up to the fence near the torches in melty molten 2, then backflip off and slope climb to the 2nd sling star.
Source:ruclips.net/video/cuCQdm2f9zs/видео.html
Melty Molten 3: The planet with the fire enemies can be skipped entirely with a pretty precise gravity skip that requires 3 health, saving 1 spin.
Source: ruclips.net/video/x0X2Cx2Yf2I/видео.html
Thats all, very well made video and super glad you put a lot of thought and effort into this and inspired me to try and lower the counter. :)

This project is pretty huge in scope. Congrats on a really cool and well-edited video!
Here is a list:
- Good Egg 3: it's possible to hold the coconut with Co-Star and wait for a different one to hit Kaliente twice with 1 spin at the start of the fight, bringing the total amount of spins for that fight from 6 to 5 (demonstration: ruclips.net/video/X9_NH-mlhQs/видео.html )
- Space Junk 1 / Comet: by abusing the weird mechanics involving holding neutral while switching sides on the toad planet, it's possible to gain enough height with a triple jump where you can immediately get into the sling star with 1 spin, saving 1 spin in both levels. (demonstration: ruclips.net/video/jNcNlACuzlI/видео.html ) (this only works when holding neutral for a bit after the second jump, and the height gained is a bit inconsistent)
- Space Junk 2: It's possible to skip defeating the two enemies by doing an extremely precise fireball boost from the right enemy, you do need a spin for this though so only 1 of the two spins is saved here. (demonstration: ruclips.net/video/9xzA4of9_ew/видео.html )
- Battlerock Secret: With very precise placements it's actually possible to clean all the garbage with only 4 bombs, which already saves 1 spin on it's own, but with it and the fact that you can activate other bob ombs on the ground while holding one by running in to them and with some clever routing I'm almost certain it's possible to blow yourself up on two of the boxes saving another spin (you can get starbits from underneath the saucer at the start and shoot the indicators to get a coin so you don't die from the 3 explosions) (demonstration of the 4-bomb method: ruclips.net/video/H3kvRBXsAdU/видео.html )
- Ghostly 1: there are 2 ways to save 1 spin at the end, but the most simple one is to clip through the bottom of the mansion by precisely using the pull stars in the section with the key, this skips the first gate saving 1 spin (demonstration: ruclips.net/video/H3kvRBXsAdU/видео.html )
- Gusty Garden 3: It's possible to skip 2 of the arrows here, by doing a precise longjump from the second section to the last arrow, saving 2 spins. (demonstration: ruclips.net/video/_IbLKm7HxB8/видео.html )
- Bubble Blast: It's possible to skip one of the sling stars by doing a precise ground pound into a firebar to cut to the next section, saving 1 spin. (demonstration: ruclips.net/video/H3kvRBXsAdU/видео.html )
- Sea Slide 3: It's possible to skip the screw by flying from the top of the tree to the gravity field of the island in the middle, saving 1 spin. (demonstration: ruclips.net/video/H3kvRBXsAdU/видео.html )
- Toy Time 1: It's technically possible (and has been done in real time, but is not remotely consistent) to clip into the launch star on the second planet, skipping the screw and saving 1 spin. (demonstration: ruclips.net/video/H3kvRBXsAdU/видео.html )
- Lava Reactor: There is more usage of Co-star possible here to save spins, I honestly don't know how many it could save and it's actually way more precise to get the double hit than in the other fight but it is possible and has to save at least 1 spin. ("demonstration":ruclips.net/video/uDkBAVrVwlY/видео.html )
- Dreadnought 1: I'm not entirely sure about it but if you can manage to hit all 3 enemies at the same time I can't imagine there not being a scenario where you can be fast enough to kill all three of them before they get back up (you might even be able to keep them down by holding them with the Co-Star although Im not sure if Co-Star works like that for those enemies)
- Dreadnought Secret: Much like in Battlerock, even though there are 6 targets it is possible (but pretty precise) to clear all targets with 5 bombs. With preemptive bomb activations and an insane route it might also be possible to again blow yourself up on two different of those targets but this one I'm much less sure of. (demonstration of 5 bomb strats: www.twitch.tv/videos/738372727?t=3h32m49s )
- Bowser's Galaxy Reactor: It's possible to hit the green bulbs with Co-Star in such a way that they actually hit bowser without needing to shake any controllers, saving 5 spins at once! (demonstration-ish: ruclips.net/video/X9_NH-mlhQs/видео.html )
There was nothing else I could spot right away but if you want to find more I highly suggest you get in contact with the TASing community of this game, as they have looked into quite a lot of ABC stuff of this game and might know other techniques to save more spins that I'm not aware of.
Here are some (? maybe just one for now) other improvements I think are very likely to be possible but of which I don't have a full concrete demonstration or proof available of:
- Ghostly 3: If you can lure a bat in the correct position it might be possible to backflip, bounce on the bat and land on the bone. From there it's possible (but stupidly precise) to make it to the part with the launch star without using any spin. (demonstration of getting to the launch star with 1 spin, used to get on top of the bone, not having the invincibility star which takes 1 spin to get shouldn't matter here if you're a bit more careful: ruclips.net/video/H3kvRBXsAdU/видео.html )
- Space Junk 2: I'm fairly certain it's possible to skip to the ship with the pull star on the far left on the ship, just not sure if it's possible without doing a spin after the fling.
Oh no now I have to do the Garbage minigames again 😭
Thank you for the info, will get to checking that out as soon as I can!
While watching the video I thought "what a crazy challenge, sometimes I do more than 50 spins", and when I see the strategies you used to get through the levels they drove me crazy. A great video, one that shows the great affection towards this video game :)
