Thank you to Sakuraco for sponsoring us and enabling us to work on these DIY projects, make the videos we want to make, and live the quiet, at-home life with our cats and garden that we want. Feel like we skipped middle age and jumped straight to grandparent lifestyle, and I'm totally good with that. Use code “RNJ“ for $5 off your first Sakuraco box here: team.sakura.co/racheljunadventures-SC2306 I feel like I am living my dream and I am so so happy and grateful!! I was finally able to (mostly) finish my bathroom and share the results! I love it SO much. This project used an IKEA LOMMARYD mirror. It could fit a 45x60cm cabinet completely hidden behind it, or you could add a much larger horizontal cabinet if you wanted to DIY it into a sliding mirror. I used acacia since it's a very dense, hard wood. Went with 2cm thick backboard and side walls. Make sure to fully pre-drill holes in acacia or you'll crack the wood (which I did the first time around, whoops).
So idea since you said about the spiders. Why not have one of those small round mirrors that are used in like high traffic areas so people can see what is around the corner and have it placed strategically so you could see the back side of the mirror? Lie have it in the same corner as the wall shelves and toothbrush?
Thank you for the video. Mostly, I'm just happy that noone got hurt during the project. (Well, as far as I can see, at least. Since nobody showed any band-aid, I hope it means that noone got hurt...) I like that you guys have separate bedrooms and bathroom. One of the things that stress me out the most when thinking of being with someone long-term is not having my own space anywhere anymore. Of course it takes a lot to be able to afford such a comfort, but it's great to see that it can work and it's not weird for a couple to have their own spaces.
Technically we have the same bedroom, but there are two guest rooms that we've split into an extra room for each of us as well. Although in our bedroom we do have separate mattresses/blankets/etc, and it is SO helpful for getting good sleep. I think a lot of people need their own space at times, and especially when you've been in a relationship for a long time it feels easier to not need to be connected at the hip for everything. It'll depend on the relationship but I think there are plenty of people out there who won't mind keeping some things separate! It's not even that uncommon to have entirely separate bedrooms. Good sleep is seriously so important. The separate bathroom situation probably isn't something everyone can do, but it works SO well for us. It solves tons of minor issues and arguments before they happen, haha. We each get to set things up exactly as we want and clean to our own personal preference levels. (I'm the super anal cleaner. Could you tell lol)
There's nothing wrong with having separate things in a relationship. My husband and I share a bed, but have never shared sheets/ blankets ever. We also have separate bathrooms. It works for us 👍
NGL it's not the solution for all couples but I'll be damned if it isn't a great one. We used to just have separate blankets but now we have separate rooms. My partner snores like the Shinkansen and I'm a bed hogger, so this setup has improved both of our sleep quality a lot. It's also fun to send texts summoning the other over.

Rachel repping not caring about what is in style but instead doing what will work for you and make you happy is so great!! I think it turned out so cute but still elegant!! Also the cats getting sucked one by one into the laundry chute was priceless!!
The thing is, is that all of my bath products are so big and don't fit in the medicine cabinet. I have other bits and bobs in there but that might be part of why they went out of fashion.
I don’t know how much Poki remembers of his life before Jun and Rachel, but I like to think that he’s grateful to be here. That, yeah, sure, sometimes they put weird things on him or hold him like a plushie but damn is this life good.
I cannot stand the trend where medicine cabinets have gone away. I hate all the clutter on my bathroom counter because I have nowhere to put my hairspray and face cream. This is making me want to try and install one myself!
I really don't mind medicine cabinets and you're right it does save up a lot of space. I've been having to brainstorm some storage ideas for my bathroom because it only has an under the sink cabinet with no shelves.
The worst are those fake recessed medicine cabinets that are only like 3 inches deep. They're like when companies put pockets in pants, but then sow them shut. Just enough to tease you into thinking they're useful when they actually aren't helpful at all. Should be illegal!
medicine cabinets are great but i think that storing medicine in the bathroom is not a good idea, it should be stored in a place with low humidity otherwise it possibly decreases its shelf life which is not the end of the world for some meds but detrimental for others which can save life
SAME what the heck is that all about?! I’m going to be installing my medicine cabinet next month when I move into my new place, because it didn’t come with one!! WHY 😭😭
"Personally I don't care what's in style or not, what I care about is functionality for me and what I like". Great Rachel! All the best for you guys and the cats.
I swear, almost every night before a new video goes up, I think, "I wonder how Rachel, Jun, and the cats are doing." It's kind of freaky, but I'm definitely not complaining! Rachel and Jun videos are my happy place 💕
Rachel is quite lovely to behold and Jun after all this time has her still smitten by him, such an adorable pair. Poki using the secret passage to downstairs like a kid playing Batman seems purrfect. Your playfully flirting at 8:50 makes my heart so happy 😭🙌💖 Your mirror/medicine cabinet is beautiful!!! Rachel you seriously kick ass and take names! 👑💖
I remember your old videos from.years ago where Jun was so shy and rarely spoke. Now he's so confident, chatty and his English is perfect! Glad you two and your cats are living the life 😊
Rachel out here casually living our Animal Crossing dream life with that mermaid mirror! I wonder how many scallops she had to trade with Pascal to get that DIY recipe 😂😂😂
I just love these videos, Rachel being all bubbly and happy and getting to do herself things she always wanted, Jun supporting her while filming and of course the cats
Watching Rachel scream through the trial and error parts of her projects is so relatable 😂 and inspires me not to shy away from my own diy projects even if I also scream the whole time
Nagi and Poki are such cute siblings! Poki is like that older delinquent who's looking for trouble and Nagi is a good boy that follows him around but scared to jump high fences aahahhaah
Im always so impressed by how handy and creative Rachel is. She sees a need for something, decides she can make something to solve the issue and puts so much time and care into not only developing the design but gathering the right materials, assembling it and perfecting it. You two are very talented and its heartwarming to see your home you worked so hard for slowly become more and more complete :)
Rachel, you could find a very pretty and decorative knob or shell to epoxy to the mirror to act as a handle to save your fingers from spiders. Very good job! You make me want to tackle DIY projects around my house!
No problem with making your inner child happy 🧜♀️ I love all these designing and decorating videos and I’m very happy to see another upload from you two!!
Rachel's DIY projects always inspire me to want to start doing things in my own house! I'm very messy and chaotic, but I love watching the process of people make things and create order. I never would have thought of making a cardboard cutout for reference, it looks so much easier than trying to manhandle the mirror around! Always fun to see the cats getting up to shenanigans as well XD

I live in an older house that was built in the 50s and absolutely cannot live without my medicine cabinet/mirror above the sink. I even bought sort of a second medicine cabinet to hang above the toilet for extra storage and it was the best decision!
I love that Poki is always getting into things. Where we live Raccoons (which get into everything) are "affectionately" called Trash Pandas. Remembering Poki getting into the trash cupboard in your apartment makes me think of them. Funny thing is that Poki actually has the right colors for a Panda. Poki is a trash panda.
If you ever encounter a similar situation with hinges, a piano hinge is AWESOME for holding weight as well, since it's a single hinge that can be as long as you want.
for lights i personally love the look of neon lights, not sure if they would fit with the current aesthetic but i think a light blue could look really nice :)
I look forward to Jun's kitchen or Rachen's DIY corner every month, especially so I can get an update on the kitties and see what's in this month's Sakuraco. Thank you as always!
One of my cats also has trouble jumping. She’s not a good jumper at all. She can get to a windowsill or tub but anything higher or more complicated, she doesn’t know what to do. I think it has to do with her falling when she was younger. She fell from second floor railing to first/ground floor; didn’t get hurt at all, just stunned. After that, she just quit jumping. (A previous cat did the same thing. Landed on her feet, shook herself & walked away. She was on a thinner railing so that didn’t help. She also learned that lesson but it didn’t impact her jumping ability.)
I’ve had sakuraco for like 2 years and I’m fully convinced that it’s because of your videos. Every time I watch one I’m like “oooh I should check what this month’s box is!” Also the Poki bandana killed me. So good.
If you put sort of a very dim string of lights around the mirror's backside for an "underlighting" effect, you would be able to see if there were any spooders by the shadow they'd cast when it was on. Also it would look kinda neat. There are strips that will do rainbow or other gradient cycles, for extra mermaidy vibes.
Looks great! For some reason I feel you should put an LED strip under the cabinet. I feel like it would help with it sticking out and light up the sink more since it casts a shadow. But even without it, it's great!
Rachel you're getting more beautiful by the day 🥰 love all of your and Jun's crafts, mistakes and all. just shows how we live our lives, mess up, learn and keep going. the result was so nice 😊 and I hope best boy Poki is well ❤
I can never get enough of your cats. I was watching one of your older videos and I noticed. Jun's English Is getting so much Better with those r sounds That he used to say now, he rarely says them. It's so cool seeing that transition and many other That was the biggest one I noticed.
a fairly easy idea for lights behind the mirror is to get some led light strips, I have seen quite a few you can cut in-between the lights to customize the length
If being 5-years old means making things as pretty as they are functional then I am 5. 😤 You make me want to learn another craft Rachel, it's so beautiful.
I love how Jun just pans on to sleeping haku instead of Rachel talking. Love the cats. Love you guys. Long time viewer here. Thanks for the content. Looking forward for the next one.
I am so jealous of this woman's DIY craft & construction skills, like give me some of those... Also why do all their supplies look so NEW, like they just grabbed them off the shopping isle - the tools in my area look like they were picked up from the scrapyard...
I completely get your feelings about the cabinet. I grew up with one not only in the bathroom, but the kitchen as well. Back in those ancient days, the cabinets themselves were set into the wall with the mirrored front. With one bathroom, the kitchen mirror did a lot of double duty!
It always feels nice to see how happy and content the cats are! They're so settled in and comfortable with eachother. The entire home feels very peaceful
I still love your cats. My fav parts is when Poki jumps down to the laundry shoot and Nagi tries to jump too. So cute! Haku sit together with Poki into the shelf and they bathing. ❤ I do love when Rachel wrapped a new tableware to Poki. So, super kawaii!! ❤ Overall the mermaid bathroom, it looks really good!! 🧜♀️ ❤
I love the arrangement of galaxy roses in the little vase on the side! I, myself, have a solitary galaxy rose (that was given to me from a Hythlodaeus cosplayer from FFXIV in place of an Elpis bloom) sitting in a little flute vase on my bookshelf.
THANK YOU!! People care too much about aesthetic and don't think about functionality!! The function is the most important part and having exposed shelfing makes it look more cluttered and messy!!
Rachel, it's stunning! I'm 63 and I now want one! Mermaid mirrors are so for any age; I'm going to ask the board of directors if I can remove my old rusted mirror that's lost 1/4 of the silvering and add a mermaid mirror. Well done! Cheers from Southern Ontario 🇨🇦
I'm in an old house, and every home I've been in has had a medicine cabinet. My next home I will buy a vintage or make one if it doesn't have once installed. It keeps the sink counter clear and makes the bathroom look less cluttered. Bring them back into style! They are practical! Also love how Rachel is describing what's going on and Jun is silently distracted and films/focuses on the cat
Love seeing the transition over the past few years of you becoming more and more confidant and creative with your diy/woodworking projects, Rachel! You are so talented!
Oh my gosh, Rachel! This came out amazing! As a DIYer myself, I am loving all of these home DIY videos and watching as you are getting more and more skilled at wood working! Also the vase of flowers is beautiful, they look like crystal!!
I feel like I'll be like Rachel when I get my own house! I already make some of my own clothes when I can't find what I'm looking for, might as well do the same with furniture when I have the space for it 😂 Also I ADORE the look of your bathroom!! It feels very ethereal!

So good.
that counter sink you did with the screws was so satisfying it was the perfect depth
I am all for the cats and the AMAZIN DIY projects but...can Rachel drop a hair care video? Its so beautiful and looong!
You could glue a "pearl" on the mirrors bottom corner for a nob. Like a big wooden bead of some sort with super strong glue.
a fairly easy idea for lights behind the mirror is to get some led light strips, I have seen quite a few you can cut in-between the lights to customize the length
If being 5-years old means making things as pretty as they are functional then I am 5. 😤 You make me want to learn another craft Rachel, it's so beautiful.
I'd be terrified to drill into those small delicate tiles, such a beautiful pattern too! Really good job, it looks very stylish!
I like glassed medicine cabinets but compared to the past in the bigger version. Keeps the bathroom tidy
I love how Jun just pans on to sleeping haku instead of Rachel talking. Love the cats. Love you guys. Long time viewer here. Thanks for the content. Looking forward for the next one.
Loving this outfit on you! Truly pulling off the light academia/Rachel Weisz in the Mummy aesthetic!
16:33 the finger/paw touch is so cute 💘
Every time I see Rachel on screen I'm immediately reminded that she's a model ♡
I am so jealous of this woman's DIY craft & construction skills, like give me some of those...
Also why do all their supplies look so NEW, like they just grabbed them off the shopping isle - the tools in my area look like they were picked up from the scrapyard...
I mean it's easy to learn when you don't work a full time job
I completely get your feelings about the cabinet. I grew up with one not only in the bathroom, but the kitchen as well. Back in those ancient days, the cabinets themselves were set into the wall with the mirrored front. With one bathroom, the kitchen mirror did a lot of double duty!
You had me at Prince Nagi! He's such a handsome boy.
I do love when Rachel wrapped a new tableware to Poki. So, super kawaii!! ❤
Overall the mermaid bathroom, it looks really good!! 🧜♀️ ❤
I have to compliment the commenters here 😊 so wholesome and sweet..
Reason I love reading a lot of comments under their videos.
I love the arrangement of galaxy roses in the little vase on the side! I, myself, have a solitary galaxy rose (that was given to me from a Hythlodaeus cosplayer from FFXIV in place of an Elpis bloom) sitting in a little flute vase on my bookshelf.
Every time y'all upload a video I'm still blown away by how pretty Rachel is and how cute her style is. I love how the mirror turned out too.
This channel is definitely my comfort place 💞
"mermaid princess bathroom" speaks to me and my inner five year old so deeply. I love it. Good job, Rachel!
Nagi is too cute, he's like a little brother who need help to follow his big brother poki
RACHEL (AND THE MIRROR) IS SOOOOO PRETTY 😍😍😍✨ GOOD JOB!!!
Adults deserve to indulge in the things that make us happy you're never to old for JOY!
Also love how Rachel is describing what's going on and Jun is silently distracted and films/focuses on the cat
the toilet location is key; y'all truly livin' the dream. all the DIY projects you share absolutely blow me away. poki clearly approved as well.
Love seeing the transition over the past few years of you becoming more and more confidant and creative with your diy/woodworking projects, Rachel! You are so talented!
Mermaid mirrors can be for everyone, 5 years old or not!
That mirror is definitely a true work of art. Fantabulous!
Why do I feel- so touched by this video. Everything in it feels like a dream 😭
I can’t get over how gorgeous Rachel and the house is and the boys (AND PICHI) look as handsome as ever
