I have a similar grid of mirrors and after a while you won't notice the irregularities and instead your eyes will just get used to how open the room feels. So don't feel bummed out about it at all. It came out really well. If it really aggravates you, you can break up the effect by hanging some high end artificial vines or other irregular shapes nearby so your brain isn't confused by the right angles of the grid itself. But I would just leave it. Well done!
I am LIVING for the fact that this has turned into a DIY channel with cats and Japan sprinkled in. Your audience has definitely grown up along side you guys too 🥰 Also the Pichi in your lap progress is so adorable!!!
OMG seeing Pichi finally warm up to you guys and sit in your lap is just the best moment ever. 🥺 I've had experience with feral/stray cats who were very, VERY untrusting in the beginning, but with enough time and patience, they became comfortable with me around. as a fellow DIYer I felt that 9:00 meltdown in my soul. I built a floating bed and measured everything multiple times, but neglected to remember that a 2x4 isn't 2x4... it's 1.5x3.5 after it's dried and treated. So ALL of my measurements were off by 1 inch in total! I had the boards cut at the lumber yard to fit in my truck!
Pichi cuddles at the end were so cute!!! I've seen furniture restoration channels use mineral spirits (an organic solvent) or even a cloth dampened with water to check how wood can look before staining and sealing them. You wipe a little bit on the wood and it will simulate how it looks after staining and lets you check if you've sanded everything correctly or if marks are still there. Just make sure you let it completely evaporate first before sealing.

To answer your question about kids, Rachel, as a parent, you learn to filter out the normal kid noises, yes. and most of the really scary moments with kids is when you realize it's gone quiet. That or the sudden, horrifying screech of abject terror/anger/pain.
Don't forget when you realize that thump or splash needs immediate attention. Because your little angel has dropped your phone on the floor or in the toilet.
Thanks for sharing Rachel! I enjoy watching your projects, in this one you looked like you needed a hug mid way through when things didn't go exactly as planned. Its nice to see it step by step, and have the reality that sometimes things don't exactly line up and that's okay. What you did looks good and I think the cat tower fits really well in its new placement. The kitties seem to like it, and I imagine they will enjoy it when you make them a cat tree for the exercise room.

I think the gooping-up-the-sandpaper problem is why a lot of people prefer to use a chemical paint stripper first and/or scrape the paint/lacquer/whathaveyou off before going in with the sandpaper. Also seen people use wire brushes, but I think that would be better on a less delicate project. Sidenote: LOVE those trousers (7:40)! And the braid and the shirt and everything! Looking cool af!
people say all the time that i must go crazy from the noise at work (i work at a bird store and own 50 birds). i genuinely just tell them, i don't hear it anymore 😂 i DO notice if they all go silent though. that feels eerie. EDIT: also, the mirrors look great !!! i could see how the warping would be disappointing, but for brightening the room, it looks so nice !
Haku is the prince, Nagi is the pretty (and good) boy, Poki is the lovely diamond in the rough, reformed gangster with a heart of gold...love them all. You can tell how well you raised them by how much they trust and love you. it's so clear. well done!!!
I feel your pain Rachel, I also resign of the easy way to add some little more fancy thing and then get so frustrated as it does not go according to plan due to minor but crucial obstacles. But the effect is awesome, great job !
i really like that you guys are just acknowledging that jun folding his clothes is probably something that is not going to change and are choosing to work around the issue rather than keep trying to make it work. it’s refreshing.
The sanding part reminded me of when we were fixing up our house to rent it out and my mother wanted to sand the floors and have them redone cuz they were old and scuffed and needed it, but she had the bright idea that we should save money by doing it ourselves. That was an absolute nightmare! So if you anyone ever thinks "hey let's just sand all of the hardwood floors in the house by ourselves!" don't bother just pay a professional to do it! The money you're saving by doing yourself is absolutely not worth how much work it is! It took us several days and multiple trips to the hardware store and it wasn't a big house either
Pro tip! when it comes to removing a sealant, it easier to instead of sanding use a paint stripper and a metal scrapper! Also if you don't like chemicals they also make a paint scrapper that is quite sharp but makes it easier to get it even! Additionally, if you sand anything significantly, take a pencil and lightly go over the surface, that way you can ensure that you don't go over the same area too much which causes dips.
Want to recommend those cat hammocks that you can stick and fix onto a window for your exercise room! I think having a floor-to-ceiling cat tower would block the perfect view you have there on your treadmill and also makes the door harder to open... if you only have a few hammocks attached to the glass door that will probably save the problem of opening the door (and luring cats to stay there while you exercise!)
Love all 4 fur babies! Hard to choose a favorite. I could go an itsy bitsy point towards a name that begins with P. On another note, it's a good thing the other 3 aren't as loud! Lol😂❤
You can clean off and reuse all those sanding pads with a tiny bit of acetone (or just nail polish remover). The grit isn't used up, it just needs the goop cleaned off.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has a cat who screams. My girl Luna (aka Looney Tunes aka The Lunar Landing) is also an ex-street who likes to yodel. She supervises all of my household projects. Everything turned out beautiful!

EDIT: also, the mirrors look great !!! i could see how the warping would be disappointing, but for brightening the room, it looks so nice !
commendable seeing rachel put her all into every project, big or small
i love rachel's green and beige outfit SO much, it goes so well w/ her red hair!!
Yeah, I'm envious that I could never pull off that color.
Haku is the prince, Nagi is the pretty (and good) boy, Poki is the lovely diamond in the rough, reformed gangster with a heart of gold...love them all. You can tell how well you raised them by how much they trust and love you. it's so clear. well done!!!
"What's distorted is my eyesight." made me erupt into an absolute fit of giggles. 15:10
Pichi getting all warm and snuggly at the end is so wonderful to see after all she's been thorugh
Every one of their cats is given so much love and care….it’s nice.❤
Very nice to see Pichi cuddling with you now knowing all she's been through and how scaredy she was in the beginning. Great job, Rachel and Jun!
Loved seeing Pichi at the end getting cuddly she's come so far I'm glad she had you guys
I think it's cute that you are putting something up that everyone in America is taking down. Mirrors in rooms were popular in 70's
Poki screamed and my cats joined in
This was a fun episode XD
I can relate to Jun about folding clothes. It's more convenient to toss it in the dresser
Spoken like a true Gremlin Absolute.
I’m sick as a dog this week and these back to back videos from here and Jun’s channel have been just what I needed 💚
It's so amazing to see how comfortable Pichi has become with you guys. She looked so content sitting on Rachel's lap!
@RachelAndJuns I get the feeling this account is a bot. Lol
The cat tower looks perfect in that spot! It looks like it was designed to be there!
The fact that Pichi will lay on you now 🥹 so sweet!!! I love the DIY reno
Poki is so loud 😂😂😂 I love him
Pro tip! when it comes to removing a sealant, it easier to instead of sanding use a paint stripper and a metal scrapper!
This just proves that having cats makes you productive
(Yeah, I just badly needed a furr baby 😔)
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has a cat who screams. My girl Luna (aka Looney Tunes aka The Lunar Landing) is also an ex-street who likes to yodel. She supervises all of my household projects. Everything turned out beautiful!
I know your pain of thinking something will improve the project and it just makes more unnecessary work. Your dedication to near perfection of your projects is motivating. And your results are always stunning. Congratulations on a beautiful mirror wall. ❤
Rachel had a lot of super cute outfits in this video!
I would be terrified a mirror pane would pop out, esp since they have earthquakes. It looks super awesome though! And it would be easy to attach decorative plants to the glass of Rachel decides to go that route
For someone as meticulous as Jun with his attention to detail in cooking and handiwork, it’s very surprising that he doesn’t fold his clothes!
He has a limited amount of attention so he has to prioritize hahaha
pichi sitting in your lap is such an accomplishment to see considering what she came from and how scared she used to be! a testament to how comfy she is with you, it makes me so happy
I love all of your cats but Poki will always have a special spot in my heart, the meows are just so cute and the personality is just so funny and sweet. Of course the other cats are all beautiful and special too!!! Poki just claimed all our attention in this video hahahaha
I couldn't help but notice, Rachel always wanted a lap cat. Now, she's got two!
My cat heard poki at 9:33 and immediately ran across my apartment to check on me and is now guarding me
I love these videos because I find them so relatable. I am often over ambitious in my crafting projects. And sometimes it works out really well and sometimes I just have a breakdown and hate the thing that I end up making. Rachel, you do such great work.
I love hearing Poki yelling, he's so lively 😂my cat yells almost as much as he does, except she's quieter. The mirror project looks really nice!! and it's so good to see Pichi comfortable enough to sit in your lap, she's such a sweet little girl 🥺
Just to say hi from England and I really appreciate your channel. I love cats and am in love with Haku, Nagi, Poki and Pichi - also soooo chuffed to see how far Pichi has come! 🥰🥰🥰
I’m in awe of your DIY skills Rachel, you’re a real inspiration and also love Jun’s cooking content. I actually really love all these normal life videos and love getting to check in on people I like whenever you post. Thank you 🤗💗
For the whole tuning Poki's screams out thing, I've heard over and over from fire departments to change the batteries in your smoke detectors immediately so you don't tune out the chirping and forget about changing them. Crazy how the brain works.
Pichi sitting on Rachel's lap makes me so so happy :') she's come so far
Pichi's is so beautiful. I love how interactive the cats are. Marmalade is the only color of cat I have not had - yet.
The enemy of good is perfect. I always remember this when working on a project. Perfection is a slippery slope.
Poki screaming non-stop is irresistible! He is a force to be reckoned with! Plus, somehow you both (and the great support acts) make the snacks reviews really interesting too
I don't know why but i just love watching your journey as a couple. It's so pleasing
Just rewatched your old videos with Poki and noticed how extrem his eyecolor changed over the years! Back then they were a beautiful sunflower yellow with jade colored spots to completey jade colored now! Such an amazing little boy ^.^
Hi Rachel and Jun! Hope 2023 has been going well for your home! Really looking forward to the day we get a full house reveal because everything you show us always looks great! 🥰
rachel the answer is yes. you learn the difference sounds between the child being genuinely distressed and sometimes a toddler being fussy to fuss, it can be manually tuned out if needed😂
I think Poki is definitely trying to tell you guys something! XD You guys should train the cats to use those speech buttons
Poki: food food food food food food food food food

Omg Rachel my back hurts just watching you haul around exercise equipment/bulk cat tower with cat.
Also I love how Poki MUST be heard all the time.
