Thank you for this! Installing these doors is much more complicated than the manufacturer's video would lead you to believe. This really helped me to make some adaptations to get the door to fit properly.
I’m happy to hear that!
The most in depth video I’ve found for these doors. Very helpful. Thank you!
Very good video explaining and dealing with challenges of pet patio doors thank you sir.Great ideas you gave me for weather proofing smart indeed.

Thank you SO much for posting this.
My neighbor just saw this for the first time and was impressed. I hope it works for you.
I have to agree with Mark, I have double glass door that opens in the middle and I’ve been trying to figure out how I can adjust it and what to do with some of the pieces that came with the product and how to use it. Now I think I know what needs to be done! I saved your video. Thank you!!

I hope your pet enjoys it!
Nice…didn’t know this even existed! Amazon has it all.😀
Yes, and it matches the sliders very well. Looks pretty good!
Love this video and you explained things so simply thank you! Just ordered one for my screen door so my dogs can come in and out without the hundreds of mosquitos coming in too lol Thanks again x 😁

Mr. Handyman lol I didn't know there was a sliding glass door pet door. I will have to look into that
It's great! my cats really love it, and it wllows them to go back and forth into the lanai without losing all that AC
This is really cool!
I bet your dogs love it! x
Cats! I have two cats. But I love dogs, too
@@AverageMe Oops dont tell them I said that haha
Nice! Thanks
You’re welcome! We love our pet door
Hi, I’m curious to know how you adhered the 3M weather strip that you purchased to the top part of the door where the height extender part is. Did you have to cover/fill the hollow space there to make a surface for it to attach to? If so what did you end up using. I’d also like to ask, did you only have to apply that stripping from the top down to where you attached the old lock hub part, roughly mid door? I ask bc I have the EXACT same 3 panel sliding door leading out to my lanai and I have the EXACT same gap that you’ve got. So glad I found your handy video. It’s like you made it just for me 😁😁
Ver well explained. How does this panel work in winter? is this able to hold the cold? Glass looks only one layer.
I live in southern Florida so I can't attest to the cold weather performance. However, you are correct, it's single-pane glass.
What size was the window spline you uses on inside and outside of the door to fill the gaps?
I just had some on hand. It doesn't really matter, as the exact size would depend upon the gap you're filling. I was just riffing, and it worked.
I just got this door but can’t get it in the track. I have a very deep lip and the door is 1/8” too tall to get past it. Ugh
I am pulling my hair out trying to find those metal 2 brackets. I bought my dog door second hand and it didn't come with them.
They can be found at a good hardware store. Sorry your installation kit didn't have them!
Sir, could you link to the 1/2 inch rubber seal you used from Amazon please?
Yes, here it is: amzn.to/3DutfCX
How much space do you have when you walk through the door? I put my doggy door panel in but the space after opening the door seems too tight.
I suppose it depends on the size of your door. My door is relatively wide, and I am using the smallest panel (cat size). Your remaining opening is going to be reduced by the width of the panel.
I’d be super concerned about house security with that thing in there.
What happened to your hand Mark??
It got in the way of the power washer. Now I have a permanent reminder of my inattentiveness
Looked at a couple videos that made it look real easy .. but you just run into so many little issues when you finally do it yourself -_-
The things people do for pets! I once toured a house for sale that had a doggie door in the main closet to the backyard. All I could think was skunks, opossums, and squirrels invading the house. We didn't make an offer.
Haha! I'de never understood those doors leading directly outside. I'm reminded of the commercial where the lady is saying, "Here kitty kitty!" and a raccoon is going into the house! My door simply leads into the lanai. And it's quite evident to the cats when the door is covered, unlike the flap doors that can be latched so when your dog tries to enter at full speed only to get knocked silly when it's latched!
