This video was a lifesaver! My friend moved into a new apartment and when the movers couldn’t figure out how to get her couch inside I came here to find out how to remove the sliding glass door. In less than 30 minutes it was off, the couch was in, and the door was back on. Thank you so much for making this easy to understand!!

Just noticed this was from 5 1/2 years ago. It's funny how we can put something out there...it may seem like no one notices or cares--and then BOOM! exactly what I needed and love it--what you did that long ago touched me and my life because you put it out there. that's what I tell the folks in the ministry---it may be ages before someone notices a seed that we put out...but eventually--someone does notice. What they do with it is their choice--but they do something with it. This just proves this.

This is the best video on removing sliding glass doors, Its the only one that shows how to take the door out without removing the stationary one, and to pull it inside the house to work on replacing the rollers. Thank you so very much! Your camera guy is very steady and close up, really appreciated!!! I've watched a lot of them this is the best!!!

Concise and easy instructional. Thank you, Shannon. For someone like myself, who really has little, if any, experience in home improvement projects, these instructionals help ease a lot of worry and answer many questions that I would otherwise overthink.

Thank you Shannon for always explaining everything very clearly and calmly. I'm a regular DIYer / Handyman and can easily grasp the how to's of doing most things and when I can see it and simply understand it then I know I can do it even if I've never done it before, like replacing an entire Garage door, tracks and all. I of course learned it a got great confidence in my ability to do that job after watching you do it, so thank you very much for that, as well as many other projects. I know this patio door video is pretty old but my fixed door (not the sliding half) has that foggy condensation and staining in-between the glass and everyone (on youtube ) says it can't be fixed and you just have to replace the whole glass, so I'm thinking I might have to replace my whole door because I don't know how to remove the glass on a door like this. So I am watching this video in case I have to replace the door. What do you think? Thanks in advance. Keep up all the great work.

I am sooooooooooooo glad I stumbled upon this video !!! My wife has wanted me to clean the fixed panel (door) frame for years and so I removed all the screws I THOUGHT were holding it in but I couldn't get it to move. So after watching your video I am going to remove the sliding door and then clean the stationary one. A total new perspective/approach to the problem.

Only needed to see the first 5 mins, but was captivated and watched the whole thing.
The Canadian demeanor is just so lovely...at least from the accent he sounds Canadian…anyway, excellent clip! Right now, my sliding door feels super heavy, and not being that handy, I couldn’t figure out how to pop it out to clean the tracks (even though they look pretty dang clean, or whatever. I had no clue you could adjust the height of the hardware under the door.
This is going to be super helpful. I’ve got a weekend project that shouldn’t take much time at all. THANK YOU from Ohio.

installing new sliding doors is always good, but I want to share with you my experience, I live in Orlando Florida, I contacted the Masterslide company with the problem of my sliding doors (if you ask, I will share the contacts) they replaced the rollers, installed a track cover and a new handle with a lock. Now my door is like new and I'm as happy as a child! And most importantly, I thought that I saved more than two thousand dollars! Just because repairs are cheaper!))) so think before ordering new ones. This is not advertising, this is my case.

I must say, this is one of the most informative videos I have ever watched. Helped me a lot. Someone broke into my house and broke one of the glass doors, so some of the information wasn't needed in my case since the door was already damaged, but I'm hoping by the end of this weekend I will have a new door put in. Currently waiting on the new door to arrive right now. Not sure what I'm going to do about the siding tho.. will try to update!

Love the video! Nice job! Sure helps the apprentice with the knowledge needed for remodel work.
If I may interject my two cents - I'm usually under time constraints so, I use a skill saw and dive into the middle of the jamb, then pry the jamb in two and pull the unit out. This takes a few minutes and your ready for the new install.

I fell on the floor some years ago and was unable to get up and spent 10 hours on the floor going in and out of consciousness. I was in acute kidney failure. My son in another state had called the police to make a check when he could not get in touch with me. The police came they took the sliding door apart to come in. I am not sure how they did it though. It looks like quite a bit of work! After 1 week in hospital & 3 weeks in a rehabilitation I came home. I’m fine thanks to the police!

Shannon, On my fixed glass panel, I don’t see any screws near the outside frame. My upper track looks like it extends into and above and beyond the fixed glass panel. The lower track has a “threshold” panel that looks like what you are showing in you video. Any advice on how to proceed?
