that bass line..
Amazing 🔥
Those bass lines!
Porca miseria!
Fernando SAUNDERS the best bassiste
I love it
I just love how this live version sounds - its so different to the original song. Wheras the original was calming (in a weird way), this performance is FILLED with enthusiasm. I can't help but come here every time after I hear the original.
it really is an amazing shift. but im such a sucker for the fade in background vocals in the studio version.
I am missing the coloured girls too ...
Erik Petrovich 1.25 turns this into a borderline disco song
The studio version was so subdued.
i hope is coked out would make it funnier
Lou Reed.. He's genius .. and now he is one of the stars in the night sky
True! Often thinking the same. We are all made of stars.
Someone had to keep Starman company. They were good friends.

🌟😁👍
R.I.P Holly, Candy, Jackie, Andrea Feldman, Ondine, Drella, and of course Lou. All such incredible personalities and talents. The backroom at Max's was quite a scene. I wish I could have experienced it just once.
I
Interesting that he left Joe Dallesandro ("Little Joe") out of this version, one of the few who is still alive.
The Bass player is just killin' it, monster big time !!
altadena57 absolute beast on the bass!
That fretless fits so perfectly
I don’t understand this comment. The way he’s looking at Lou it’s like he doesn’t even know the song. Prob was given the chords backstage last minute lol.
@@esl4058 That's Fernando Sounders. He played with Lou Reed very often, so no, he knew the song and had played it with him countless times over the years.
@@esl4058 It doesn't matter whether he didn't now the song and/or he get the chord sequenz a second before - either the bass line fits or it doesn't. And this bass line definitely fits. So - I don't understand your comment.
I’m a french girl so excuse me for my bad english. What beautifull song ! It’s must beautifull in live. All your songs are wonderfulI ! I miss you too much Lou Reed.
Your English is better than most Americans. Bless You.
@@ramluma Thanks you very much for your comment. I wish you a PERFECT DAY.
This song was revolutionary when it came out becuase the original had female black back round singers. which wasn't common for white artists in his day. That's why he refers to colored girls that aren't there. So everyone knows he had black female background singers to try to break racism in the original performance and playing of the song.
@@josephbilling6445 Thanks you very much for your comment. I wish you a PERFECT DAY.
I dont know if it's just me but Lou Reed is a rare breed he/his live concerts sound better than the studio versions. Brilliant
@shaynesparkes8740 Especially on the Original Wrapper. I love the live version.
No you are right on.
He looks like he’s enjoying the performance
Killer performance. And wow never seen Lou like this. He seems so animated and fun here.
Yes. Yes he did.
Still can't believe I was there. Best concert ever!
If this is an example of what the concert was like I doubt it. This live version of the song is terrible
Lie
I don't believe you were there either. Literally. 🙄
Whatt a pleasure to watch Lou sing this song live! One of the many hits Lou had. Gone too soon. 😮🎉❤
That Bassline was GOD-LIKE and melodic,❤🖤😎
its hypnotic ...
Lando Calrissian on bass.
Lobot's feeding him the chords. Just in case. It's Lou Reed, after all.
😂😂
@@mirandac8712 actually it's Fernando Saunders on the Bass
😂😂😂😂
Correct it's Fernando Saunders ! Check out - A Night With Lou Reed from 1983 to see more Fernando Saunders magic on Bass.
Was there. Had a strong feeling I was witnessing a historical moment during Reed's performance. RIP
this has gotta be the best live performance from Lou ever, absolutely fantastic.

Absolutely brilliant,Lou live in concert always sounds great, can’t just watch it once ,fantastic ,thanks for the great tunes, rip,
I feel like I'm late to the party here. I'd never heard this and this is now more than thirty years old.
Kinda surreal, wouldn't you say: A bisexual New Yorker singing a ballad about hanging out with transexuals in the backrooms of NYC to a crowd of midwestern farmers.
It's only rock and roll, but I like it!
Hell, this is from like, 1970- check him out with the Velvet Underground and with Victoria Williams for starters. Lou doesn't have much vocal range, but the songwriting back then was good. Honest, too, about his drug addictions, and the like.
... this is more than rock and roll ... it is like a precious parfum of the beginning seventies ... and indeed the bassline tickles my guts :-)
Aaron Moon I'm only 34 why hasn't more people heard this one
this is like the crack fueled 80"s sucky version of his original....PLUS check out the movie Velvet Goldmine Movie....it is sorta about A glam rocker and an American counterpart!!!

60s.
I remember Farm Aid and saw as much as I could. It's great that technology has allowed us to see performers then today. Rolling Stone named his two albums in their best 500 albums of all time! He may have performed that day like a lounge act, but the whole goal was to raise awareness and money for Ethiopia.

The greatest musician/ human being I knew. For all his faults, he loved, he loved so much.
Not fools though.
Pure genius.

This song is fantastic!
Lou Reed's Transformer album from the 70's is classic. We all loved it and Lou! I still have my album ...along with all the others.

WITHOUT A DOUBT MY BROTHER!✌🏼
and iggy, that all
Why??
Having waited a long time for a good and commendable testimony, Lou Reed took the time to tell a fast-paced hetero story like this.
Great, thanks for posting.
As a bassman myself..
Superb.
Takes me back about 40 years me and Moose ( Danny R . H ) Moose RIP , your friends love you and think of you often especially my wife LDK , Moose we all love you . The song was just one of those nights thing ..... Bud , Columbia SC
Thank you for your fantastic music - lot of reminders of a wild time!
Great Lou!
i can't stop watchin' that bass
That bass by Lando hits me right in the face! Miss you Lou!
What a great moment in time
I consider Lou Reed among the best poets and songwriters of two centuries. He lays Dylan and his like to shame. His lyrics and melodies left all others in the dust.
slowly they die away...those legends
Amazing!!!
Lando Calrissian on bass.
Yes. 1972 - lucky to be alive when it came out - It's a love song to, & opening up the world's awareness to, people who aren't plain old heterosexuals - Great Song on all levels. Thank you Lou Reed

Lou era Lou... metteva nelle note il suo sentire, senza compromessi....
Diesen tollen Song von Lou Reed haben wir in den Siebzigern immer als Rausschmeißer gespielt, nur ein wenig langsamer, einfach toll dieser Song.
loved this song man you rocked back in the day man so cool
J'aurai tellement voulu y être!!!
Poor Lou. This song is now being used by Airbnb to promote $1,000 a night properties.
I like his Velvet Underground work more anyway.
Velvet Underground was better than his solo stuff

I remember him in New Orleans for a concert. After it was over we went to a place named The Dungeon. Who was there but the man himself. He was just like you and me. Great dude.
The Dungeon a classic underground bar. Only opened after 12. Strange drinks and patron's. Usually indulged at more conventional sites in the Quarter. Should have gone more. Sorry I didn't
He was smiling but I'm crying. I miss you,
just a beautiful song!!!
