I also intend to hike through a lot of bear country for fun and after a ton of research this is the best all-round do everything gun. Great review man! I can't wait to have a blast with this thing, put the heaviest hitting rounds I can find and tame that 10mm on the range!
I'm building a Polymer 80 G20L (basically a gen 3 Glock 40) and I am incredibly excited to try it out. Seeing you geek out over this makes me feel more validated for wanting to build a beast like this :)
Love the video. First new gun I ever bought was a model 40 when they first came out. I’ve got close to 3k through mine, my favorite gun to carry around out in the wilderness here in AK. Word of advice for optics, you’re going to need to replace the screws that come in the kit for the optics. For what ever reason they’re super short and won’t hold an optic securely. Also if you want to shoot hard cast, KKM makes amazing barrels and seem to be the only aftermarket barrel that work for the 10mm
Thanks for the kind words! As for the screws, yeah, I hope no one is using the stock Glock screws. The CHWPS plate can be modified to fit this gun, but it'd be nice if they'd release a drop-in model.
Man you keep making videos about guns I’m starting to want. (Beretta 92A1 vid of your is one of my favorites). Been thinking about one of these for awhile. Another great view from gunpenguin.
Northwest retention systems makes really great holsters for this weapon and will make it with lights, optic cuts, suppressor height sights, threaded barrels and make a ton of custom kydex holsters although I paid $120 for a custom holster for this in kryptec print with a ton of extra bells and whistles
Would be neat to see this next to a colt 45 army revolver or something. As a new gun owner just eating this shit up, it would be neat to see what has changed over the last 150 years or so

Great video, thanks for posting. I’ve got a Gen3 SF that I had ceracoated ODG Blk camo and installed Trijicon HD sights, installed X300 Ultra and my Gen5 with Trijicon HD night sights and X300 Ultra too and with over 1k rounds of Underwood ammo and both had ZERO failures, I absolutely love mine.
Same story for me. I bought a custom made Glock 40 during the pandemic because it was literally the only Glock MOS I could find ANYWHERE. So glad I accidentally made the right decision.
This is one of the Best review videos I've ever seen. Funny AF too. Got a Glock G20. Then bought a 9" Lone Wolf Slide and 6" KKM barrel. Now I have a Fo-G40. ;D
I've carried a 10mm most of my adult life...starting in 1987. I got the bug after watching Miami Vice and bought a Colt Delta after they had been out a year or two. I shot the first one loose and bought a second. Later I bought a Dan Wesson Pointman 7 in 10mm and shot some local/regional IPSC in the early 90's. Eventually Glock produced this 40 MOS and I just had to have one. It now operates with a 7" KKM barrel and is my CCW of choice. I have an IWB holster that also holds an extra mag. Once you wear it for a while, you don't even know its there.
You've got good taste! How are you liking the KKM thus far? Though I've not found them to be as reliable as I'd like, there are few thing as enjoyable to shoot as a 1911. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience!
I was only five years old in 1987, but I got on the 10mm bandwagon as soon as I could. I have been carrying a Gen III G20 for almost 20 years now, always stoked with something like Double Tap 180 gr Gold Dots or my current favorite, the Underwood 200 gr XTPs. I have been eyeing the G40 for a while now. My only concern is that once I get my hands on one, my G20 will take a back seat and I will feel compelled to carry the G40 with me everywhere!
@@alexm566 there may be slight poa drift do to the lighter charge of 40mm, especially at longer distances, but I use 40mm for training and keep sighted (red dot) for 10mm underwood ammo.
I'm a 10mm and big bore fan. A buddy of mine has the Bruin 10mm, great gun. I've been considering the Glock 40 for a little while now. I like the idea of it with the SRO. First time viewer of your channel. Great review. One of the funniest reviews that I've ever seen on a gun. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for the kind words, my friend! The Bruin is also super cool, and I wouldn't mind having one myself. Let me know how you end up liking the Glock!
@@thegunpenguin Will do, the 40 is on my short list. The gun that really blows me away is the FK BRNO PSD.. I plan on getting one this year. It shoots 10mm as well, as you already know. Thanks again.
@@beck-tn9gl You've got good taste. I'm very interested in the PSD, but there haven't been enough unbiased reviews quite yet. If you end up with one, let me know your thoughts -- it's an incredibly compelling gun. Happy New Year! Thanks for stopping by, and you're welcome around here anytime!
Great review!!! I’ve been using the Glock40 for a couple of years now. I do a lot of pig huntiN and it’s amazing especially paired with a Trijicon SRO! Also my primary huntiN gun! Love it!!
I love my Glock 40 MOS, I put a 7 inch KKM match grade barrel on it and a 24 lb. spring in it for Buffalo Bore etc. ammo, trigger is fine , and to fiber optic sights. I am 72 years of age and can handle the recoil fine. I loaned it to my son now I can't get it back from him, he love it too.
Subbed, This has to be one of the most normal gun reviewers on RUclips. The 10mm glocks are unnecessary, over the top, and you’re probably a fucking maniac if you own one. I got a 20,29,40 and also a 21 in .460 Rowland. Welcome to the club
I bought the M&P 10MM in 4" at the time. I prefer M&Ps overall to most anything, for the price. Though I do have a couple Glocks. But if I had it to do again, I'd have went with this exact gun. The 40 is just cool. And the extra 2" would be nice - She. One thing I've noticed as well with 10mm, you've got to keep practicing with it. If you lay off 10mm for awhile, it's a fairly rude awakening when you shoot it next lol. It's not like 9 or 40, or even 45. Those I can shoot 5 or 6 and ok, I'm there again. 10mm not so much. not real 10 anyway. Already having that MP10, I have decided I want a big 45. The Glock41 sister to this gun is on my short list. Cheers.
Smart decision. You got yourself an effectively proven magnum Hunting& Tactical Defensive Pistol! The longer 6.2 inch barrel helps. KKM barrels are a good aftermarket choice of barrel especially when shooting Hard Cast Lead RFN rounds. Excellent for Hunting, Wilderness, Personal Self Defense, Home Defence & Apex Predatorial Beasts. Including, Wild Boar, Big Black Bear as well as Grizzley Bear, Moose, Elk. All you need to stop Wild Boar and Big Bears etc. Are Sold Metal or Hardcast Lead RFN Bullets in the cartridges. Like Underwood, Buffalo Bore, Double Tap, Hornady etc. Glock should come out with a Gen 5 model 40.
I was drooling over this gun when it was announced in 2015 and I finally got one in 2021. It is my absolute favorite gun out of all of the guns at home and most of my videos are about it
Wouldn’t consider myself OCD and never noticed it on the gen 5s I’ve shot, but now that you pointed out the ‘pig nose’, I can’t unsee it. Still looks like this beast would be a great addition to anyone’s collection. 👍🏻
#1 you gotta enjoy what you’re shooting or you won’t shoot it. You’re not crazy. I own 3 10mm’s… the Sig P220 Legion, Magnum Research 1911 Government size, & the Glock 20. Hands down the Sig is in a league all its own out of the 3 but all are amazing. Loved the vid. I subbed. Love 10mm.
Ive been carrying this glock with a 1 moa primary arms and a streamlight tla-8 for almost two years. I dont own any 9mm anymore. Ive concealed it for most the time too.
I came across this video eight months later… I have a Glock 20 and really love it I enjoy shooting 40 caliber through it more than 10 mm just because I have more 40. However you have to clean the barrel and the breach in that area before going back to 10 mm. I do want one of these Glock 40‘s to add to the collection. This was a pretty cool review one of the better ones without being arrogant
I want a large 10mm pistol, and I have been on the fence between the G40 and the XDM 5.25. The more videos I watch the more I lean toward the G40, and this video is helping to reinforce that.
First of all, fantastic review! I love my GL 20 and have taken, many hogs, deer and an elk with it. I use 200/230 hard cast with gas check rounds. Foe my edc 180 HP. 10 mm has always been a great secret based on some people hesitant to shoot it based on recoil. 10 mm is also being manufactured by more companies then ever as well. It is a tad bit heavy but I carry it IWB just fine but you need a good kydex holster for sure. The enormous power in the 10 makes it worth wile and I echo your thoughts on the 9mm as well. My 20 is a slight bit pig nosed as well but I am certain it is by design. I have consulted for many gun companies and that is the nature of the beast with a larger framed polymer gun. Hard to beat the Glock,. My only lament is that it should have first come from The USA instead of Austria.. Long story short the work, are safe (if the shooter is safe) and are extremely reliable. Once again great review!
How long have you been shooting 200/230 grain hardcast out of the g20? I have a g40 and some people recommend to to get the 6.5 kkm barrel with titanium rods to handle those 200+ grain hardcasts
@@Stoicexpression I have at least 8 plus years. Standard Glock barrel but gas check bullets. Works just fine and super accurate!!! Had lone wolf barrel 6 “ but got rid of it no need and no extra accuracy!
Excellent video. Lots of good information on both the pistol itself along with the caliber. Very entertaining as well. Thanks for the content! Just picked up my own Glock 40 MOS to use as a huntin' pistol. Something different. Time to go smoke some hogs!
I love this video. My first pistol was a G29 on my 21st birthday. Bought a G20 a few years later. Now I'm almost 34 and picked up a G40 MOS earlier today and I can't wait to shoot it. Problem is, I only have 300 something rounds im sitting on and can't find any locally 😭😭😭
Great video. I’ll checkout your holster recommendation - had given up on a holster except for that chest rig Alaskans wear. Another plus is that .40 runs in this too.
I have a G20 and I love it. I reload and 10mm is easy to load for, 9mm is like 22lr for me anymore, just a fun round, I do have a 7" KKM barrel in my G20 so recoil is nothing.
I keep reading long barrel tames recoil but ballistically that isn't true. Longer barrels extend bullet dwell time. Recoil lasts longer and is more severe. Once the bullet leaves the barrel those forces drop to nill. The extra mass of a longer barrel can help mitigate recoil but better that mass was elsewhere.
Good buy right there, considered getting a 10mm myself but it's kind of rare in my area even in normal times! Also, for a cartridge like that, long slide is a must IMO
Yeah, if you can't get ammo to feed it, I'd have stayed away too. All of my ammo was ordered online, for that reason. Personally, I've had mixed results with the long slide guns; it'll be interesting to compare this one to a G20. I'm working on some sort of objective(ish) test. We'll see if that works out!
@@jamesslatham8164 Hahah thanks for the suggestion! But, I'm very happy with my present lighting setup. Merry Christmas, my friend! I hope you have a relaxing holiday!

I came for the dumb gun and stayed because of your no bullshit, non sugar coated, and down to earth review. Left as a subscriber. Fuckin’ refreshing to hear a gun review like this. Love that dumb fuckin gun , my next stupid purchase for sure. Your hilarious, keep it up my man.
This is the only handgun I own. And it's my EDC. I found a shoulder rig made specifically for this firearm. I have it under my left shoulder and under my right is the spare magazine. It is a bit of a challenge to keep concealed. With a jacket on or a suit coat it is very manageable. I have an ITWB T-Rex holster that fits nicely in the small of my back and with an untucked over shirt it conceals decently. Not great, but decent. When it's the only thing you have, you make the effort. Plus, like you, I love it. I am running (I hate that word too) Hornady Critical Duty ammo with the plastic filled hollow points and it's a pretty stout recoil. I have become so used to it that I don't even notice it. I have a red dot for it but I prefer the iron sights.
Have it with KKM barrel, suprwssor sight , rmr and surefire light. Almost made the mistake of selling it. Instead, bought a recover tactical kit today. Cant wait to make it my truck PCC
One point I believe you missed is the self defense aspect in bear country! The 10 mm comes up very highly rated for defense against Alaskan brown bear as it's capacity, power, and ability to get off multiple shots vs wheel guns out weighs the big bore caliber advantage one would expect.
I just purchased a G20 several days ago for bear defense while backpacking this coming Summer of 2024 in the Western Montana mountains. I think I may need to buy a G40 as well because it looks as if it would be somewhat more accurate than the G20 on target during those first several shots you need to get off before the bear covers the mere 30 yards during it’s charge in your direction! Or .. maybe it’s just my way of rationalizing the purchase of another Glock? 😂
Alongside the G34 MoS and the G48 MOS, I love this big boy of mine. Literally dwarfs my G34 MOS ! Took a while to find one however, since as soon as Glock sends one out, it gets snapped up, and literally none available online.
I hope that comment about rubbing deer piss on you was a joke that’s a good way to get killed by a buck in rut it’s used on some sort of wick or sent bombs as they are called to lure them in not apply it to ones person FYI just thought I throw that out there

I now own a glock 40 just because of this review….
I feel that I owe you an apology. Not because you bought a G40, but because you had to watch my video.
My new favorite Gun Guy! Keep Rocking Brother!😎
Thank you so much! I'm honored!
Your channel is so good man love it as much as 10mm
Get yourself a 40 S&W barrel for your G40. Feels like a 9mm and you have 2 cartridges to choose from and train with.
Respectfully hell to the nah na noooo!
40 short and weak needs to die out sooner rather than later
would that require adjusting the sights? :/
@@alexm566 there may be slight poa drift do to the lighter charge of 40mm, especially at longer distances, but I use 40mm for training and keep sighted (red dot) for 10mm underwood ammo.
@@stephenfogle8699 lol...ok Karen. 😉
@@thegunpenguin Thank you for your kind words,! It' was my pleasure. Happy New Year to you as well!
Great review!!! I’ve been using the Glock40 for a couple of years now. I do a lot of pig huntiN and it’s amazing especially paired with a Trijicon SRO! Also my primary huntiN gun! Love it!!
I was in the same boat. I wanted a G20 but it was nowhere to be found. G40 was available and now its one of my favorite guns.
ABSOLUTELY A SUPERB job sir! Im about to pull the trigger on the GLOCK 40! Thanks for the very informational info on the glock 40! 👍
Power to you bro!! Need one now
Subbed, This has to be one of the most normal gun reviewers on RUclips.
The 10mm glocks are unnecessary, over the top, and you’re probably a fucking maniac if you own one. I got a 20,29,40 and also a 21 in .460 Rowland. Welcome to the club
Thank you for the kind words!
I carry the 40 everyday with a vortex red dot and a TLR2
I spend 6 months in the Rockies, I carry the 40 10mm loaded with Underwood. Home SC g48
Can't decide g40 or the g35 g I od rview
Cheers.
“Have you ever wanted a really dumb gun? Like a really fuckin’ stupid gun?” Yes I can sympathize! Subscribed.
Thanks for the support!
It is my absolute favorite gun out of all of the guns at home and most of my videos are about it
Awesome review!!
Thank you so much!
Love your style. Great video!!
Thank you so much!
Wouldn’t consider myself OCD and never noticed it on the gen 5s I’ve shot, but now that you pointed out the ‘pig nose’, I can’t unsee it. Still looks like this beast would be a great addition to anyone’s collection. 👍🏻
I’ve recently been looking at Glock in 10mm and what I’m seeing I like, so thank you for the great information ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great content bro! Good to see some creativity in a review. 👏👏👏💪😎🇺🇸
Thanks!
Great review! Thank you!
Much want. Your sarcastic humor has earned you another subscriber.
I subbed. Love 10mm.
Thanks for the support!
You convinced me on this. I just bought one and I’m waiting on my FFL to receive it. I can’t wait. I got this to go with my 10mm Kriss Vector.
Ive been carrying this glock with a 1 moa primary arms and a streamlight tla-8 for almost two years. I dont own any 9mm anymore. Ive concealed it for most the time too.
what holster are you using? looking to pick an appendix holster up for mine.
I just got this 40 MOS thanks for the video haven't gotten around to shooting it yet.
Thanks for watching! I hope you enjoy your G40 as much as I've enjoyed mine.
Just bought a G20sf, now I want a G40.. Good thing I reload and am stocked up :) Thanks for the vid bro
Thank you for watching! The 40 and the 20 are great combo; collect the whole set.
Just got the 20 yesterday and now want the 40.
This was a pretty cool review one of the better ones without being arrogant
great review, Just bought the Glock 40 MOS in 10 mm and used for hog hunting , more accurate than i thought and very manageable.
Thanks!
First video I've seen from him had to subscribe funny af but professional
I want a large 10mm pistol, and I have been on the fence between the G40 and the XDM 5.25. The more videos I watch the more I lean toward the G40, and this video is helping to reinforce that.
You can't go wrong with the G40!
Very entertaining and informative!
Thanks!
Had mine 3 years now with a vortex venom 6moa. It's my 40yd pistol and a nail driver
Thanks!
@@primsolllineguy8689 do you think its safe to shoo the underwood 220 grain hardcast bullets out of the g40?
@@Stoicexpression are they gas check?
I will send a pix of what I use.
Great vid man! I love my g40.
Thank you so much!
Excellent video. Lots of good information on both the pistol itself along with the caliber. Very entertaining as well. Thanks for the content! Just picked up my own Glock 40 MOS to use as a huntin' pistol. Something different. Time to go smoke some hogs!
Thank you so much for the kind words! Enjoy that wild pork; now I'm craving a pork chop.
Tennifer and Melonite sound like you're talking about your flings.
I go a local store in NC and they have quite a bit of 10mm and no limit! Its about $39! Still cheaper than 9mm!
Awesome fucking glock! I would love to be able to buy glock 20 or 40! Out of stock everywhere. Your commentary is hilarious 😆
Thanks!
Great video. I’ll checkout your holster recommendation - had given up on a holster except for that chest rig Alaskans wear. Another plus is that .40 runs in this too.
Thanks! Let me know what you think of the holster. I've been very impressed with how it handles the size and weight of this gun.
The long Glocks are also surprisingly good at holsterless carry. The length keeps them in place.
I have a G20 and I love it. I reload and 10mm is easy to load for, 9mm is like 22lr for me anymore, just a fun round, I do have a 7" KKM barrel in my G20 so recoil is nothing.
I agree, 10mm is a joy to shoot!
Great review on the glock 40 👍👍👍
Thank you, my friend!
Ok I’m sold...great review...cool jacket
Thank you so much! You're awesome!
One more thing add a top back light when seated in the chair it will give that “in limbo”
effect your looking for. Merry Christmas
and God Bless
@@jamesslatham8164 Hahah thanks for the suggestion! But, I'm very happy with my present lighting setup. Merry Christmas, my friend! I hope you have a relaxing holiday!
I own quite a few handguns but I have the G40 on my night stand and open carry every where town and country😊
I just want to say I fucking love you man this guy had me in stitches laughing. This review is🔥too btw which is a bonus after laughing so hard man your a gem seriously so glad I found this channel.
Thank you so much! I'm honored!
Love mine so much that I ordered a G29 to EDC. Get it tomorrow 😊
Exactly; its a beast, but feels like a stout 9 because of the slide. Ive shot accurately at 50yrds open sights. I bet you can be very good at 200ft.
Just got myself a g20sf and I love it!
Great video man, also it’s around the same size as a H&K mk 23 so it’s no surprise that it’s makes a great “tactical” handgun.
My Gen 4 G29 is very manageable. That 10mm recoil is punchy, but enjoyable and surprisingly flat for what it is.
I own one and honestly… everything that makes this Glock ridiculous makes it that much more awesome.
Excellent point about the length of the light.
