At 4:43 that is an electric water pump. It circulates the high voltage system coolant. Also there is a special tool to compress the drive belt tensioner rather than using a 14mm 12 point socket.
Thank you dave but the HV system pump is located in the front... it is not this one i mention 👋😎 however it looks like a pump too but it goes to the heater...
And yes... i also mention in the belt replacement tutorial that there us a special tool for that... but remember that this is more focused for normal DIY users thay dont have the special tool...
The right channel at the right time 😊 I'm looking into getting the new Kona Hybrid where I live ( Australia ) and wanted to have an idea of the reliability of the 1.6 litre engine + 6 speed DCT gearbox combo over a long period of time
The clutch actuators seem to be a weak point. Early years have premature failures, I believe there is an updated part. But I'd still take DCT over CVT.
Such an amazing video, Jose! I love technical content on the Ioniq! It's only a pity this lasted 8 minutes, I hope this was "just a starter" and that more in-depths on the mechanics / electronics of the Ioniq will be coming! Very well done PS It would have been very cool to actually see the process of removing the engine and putting it back
@@hybridsolutiondiagnostics What kind of Scanner is it needed to replace the transmission on an ioniq and be able to relearn it and actually delete DTC codes? Ok i replaced the transmission but my scanner doesnt allow me to erase codes 😢 or do the relearn help? Plz

can the high voltage connection at (6:49) be replaced? I swaped the transmittion and it fits however the connection to the inverter is different. I want to pull the old one that has the correct connection and install it into the newer transmition. Let me know thanks!
I have to understand something. the gasoline engine stops and comes into operation with a frequency of sometimes several starts in one minute, every press on the gas literally wakes it up and puts it back to sleep when the electric engine is running (EV light on the dashboard)?? Is it not harmful to the engine?? I remember that many mechanics were against Mazda's START/STOP system for example, due to the fact that it is very harmful to the engine. what do you think?
I can't seem to find the coolant temperature sensor. Can anyone point it out? By the diagrams I figure it has to be visible in this video at 4:26 or after...
I had a yellow engine light come on for a few days, it's there and after it turns on it disappears for a few hundred km and then again, what's the problem?
Question. I have a 17 Niro. Engine was swapped. Now hybrid light is flashing on the dashboard and jerking heavily! Practically running in limp mode. Any idea what could have been done wrong during the swap? Tried to do the reclibrations ( all four ) and they all fail. Please help
Hey Jose…my dealer here in California said in order to repair properly the dual clutch actuator…transmission need to be taken down? There’s usually some delay on engagement when I step on the gas from full stop when I’m driving. Is it accurate ? Swapping or replacing only the dual clutch actuator is not enough to bring back my performance on the road? Pls help master…I can’t afford any more repair expenses 😢…thanks in advance
Dct always has a delay from stop. Hybrids use ev motor to minimize this delay or the feeling of the transmission being detached. Drive in sport mode if you want it to feel more normal
With my Prius I had EGR valve & EGR cooler cleaned using a ultra sonic machine it worked well also cleaned the intake manifold and then added a oil catch can should i employ a similar method for the ioniq ?

looks like a poor design compared to Prius especially the transmission. Direct Injection is proven to have more issues (carbon build up) on high mileage. I wonder if these are throw away engines after 150k miles.
Yes DI does suck and Toyota rectified it by having both Port injection (to clean bathe the valves) and Direct injection but you can use clean the carbon off the intake valves before they get too carbonized via the air intake system using spray cleaning solvents like CRC brand etc. to minimize the carbon build up. I plan on keeping the car heat on high with windows down and sun roof open to keep the engine idling while doing so. I'll do it as part of occasional maintenance. My Goal is to get 200K out of the car. Jose' if you think I'm in error or have other ideas please advise.
This design is trash, sadly, compared to how the Prius is made, with the planetary gear set. This Hyundai transmission is not going to last 300,000+ miles, like the transaxle on the Prius seems to do regularly, with no maintenance [no transaxle fluid change].

Sir how to fix U1011 problem
Do these engines suffer carbon build up? My PHEV ionic has 82k miles on the clock with no issues.
Over a long time yes they do... so every often an intake clean will be good indeed 👋😎
YEs as stated by the Chief Unlike Hyundai who replaced PORT INJECTION with DI, Toyota has both to bathe the valves to keep carbon down.
Does the EGR system plug up on these like they do on the 3rd gen Prius ?
